Barcelo Maya Colonial: Excellent resort

The resort was very clean and tidy, the grounds, the room, restaurants, lobby everything was always spotless. Employees were always so friendly and ready to help with whatever you need. The food was amazing as well as the entertainment.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Great time in Punta Cana!

Super resort. Great food, clean and excellent covid protocols. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms are a wee bit dated and could use updating. But clean and taken care of while staying. Pool excellent!

Allegro Playacar: We were happy and liked the resort

We had no expectations, as we read a lot of nasty reviews before going to Allegro Playacar. We were pleasantly surprised when we got there. The resort itself is perfect, clean, very green, not too big, and cozy with an amazing beach. Rooms were ok, however, AC did stop working on day 10, but we didn't do anything about it as the weather cooled off and we only had to stay 3 more nights. I have to say, that the food was not very good. Only a hand full of things to choose from. They also had no  [... read more]butter for breakfast and have not seen even once mangoes or bananas, as I was looking forward to the fruits on this trip. No Seafood. We didn't really care, as the Playa Del Carmen is only a 4 min ride from the hotel with a ton of restaurant choices. We ended up eating there every night. We wish there was no entertainment near the beach, as it was super loud and annoying, they would have been better off playing just music or nothing. If you ask me if you should book it, I would say yes. We loved everything, after all, you are there for the Beach, everything else you can get in Playa Del Carmen or at the Plazza next to the Hotel.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Wonderful resort!

We have been to Punta Cana 5 times and have stayed in a variety of resorts. The week we spent at Barcelo Bavaro Beach was fabulous. It is a large property with lots to do if you wish. The adult only section is a bit quieter and the beach is second to none. The quality of food was great as well as the service. Due to Covid, the resort was still busy but not to the point of having to line up at buffets or fight for beach or pool chairs. Occidental Punta Cana: Wonderful trip!

This was my 20th stay at OPC and my son was able to come along. I therefore upgraded to Royal Club upon arrival. Best idea EVER!!!! The private pool, beach, restaurant and bar made it all worth it!!!!! Beautiful memories were made 💜

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Limited food choices, great place!

Vacationed for 7 days and only allowed 4 restaurants to dine in while the rest of the days are the buffet. The beach and the pool is top notch but limited in food. The room floors could use some scrubbing, its similar to Cuba but this is mexico, it could be better. If your a sushi person, look else where as they have no to limited sushi. You have access to sushi on your dinner but sushi is limited to 8 pieces. The steak is sometimes chewy or dry. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Don't expect to much... Beware!

The overall experience is great, but not the best. If your looking for a nice beach and venue. This is it. If your a big food person, this place is not for you. If you miss your breakfast at 10am, you won't see another food closer to 1pm which is hard when you overslept with kids. I love food but they will limit with what you can eat. The rooms are old and the floor could be scrubbed. I rate the rooms 5/10. The only thing that saves them from good graces are the pools and the beach areas. BEWARE!

Occidental Tucancun: I would love to come again!!

The hotel is clean and has a great location. All personal is very friendly and polite. All meals are excellent. All 3 pools are very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed a lot of every minute. I would love to come back!

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Awesome resort! Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful time at this resort. The place is spotless clean, the staff is really nice, and the food is amazing at the buffet and restaurants. My only critiques would be in terms of table service at the buffet in late meal times (ie: lunch at 3pm instead of at 12pm). It seems waiters get tired by then and start not replacing cutlery and cleaning tables and take a while to bring drinks. I would suggest also colouring sitting spots somewhat. Highly recommend overall!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Superbly high standards

The resort exceeded our expectations on many levels; the service was exceptional, with bartenders and waiters who were willing to accommodate all our needs -- we saw amazing shows, from traditional Mexican music to the Nutcracker ballet -- to facilities and conveniences that we didn't even expect, like free catamaran sailing, champagne cocktails, incredible steakhouse and seafood meals, and more. Barcelo Maya Riviera: Loved the resort!! Spectacular!!

The resort was perfect! Beautiful rooms, lovely swim up pool. Amenities and service were excellent! Only drawback was that the buffet closed at 6 pm. Super clean didn’t feel concerned at all about Covid. Lovely pools and lots of spots to enjoy the beach. Would definitely go back!

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great resort

The hotel was clean (5/5), friendly and helpful staff (5/5/) buffet was fantastic and inviting with tasty and verity of selection, meat, fish, veggies and fruit (5/5). my biggest complain was the music and entertainment it was a HUGE Disappointment (0/5). Another low point was the Transat Agent on the site, SHE WAS JUST NASTY

Barcelo Solymar: Under Renovations

We booked the Barcelo Solymar hotel, when we got there they put us in the Arenas Blancas which is a cheaper hotel and we still got charged the full price for the Barcelo Solymar. The food was always the same every day they made everyone put their bags at the door where it could easily be stolen, so while eating always worried that it would go missing. This review is for the Arenas Blancas not for Barcelo solymar it was closed for renovations and we were not advised about it and we paid more for this hotel, i paid for 2 weeks plus a land person for 2 weeks. Barcelo Huatulco: Needs updating

The restaurants are to small and there is only 2 pools that are poorly maintained otherwise great resort very clean They are doing a great job with Covid mask are worn by all staff all the time Felt very comfortable and safe

Occidental Caribe: Resort is alright

The hotel is nice, grounds are beautiful, food was good. Rooms are good, beds are really comfortable. Clean for the most part. Staff tries their best, but if they don't understand you, they just say no English, they need more staff that speaks better English or understands. Beach is beautiful, but very windy, waves are really strong. Good trip. But wouldn't chose this chain at this moment.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Severe food poisoning

We stayed for a week at Barcelo Bavaro Palace...there was four of us in total. Two of us were food poisoned from the buffet and it was so bad that one of has to go to the hospital. We are certain it wasn't from water because we were careful to only drink bottled water. The beach here is beautiful and the rooms were clean but the food isn't great and clearly there are issues with cleanliness and food storage/preparation. In general, the service isn't good anywhere at the hotel.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Total luxury

We stayed at Occidental Xcaret in the Royal Club. I highly recommend the upgrade. The small private dining area available to the Royal guests was amazing. The service was excellent from drink service or lunch directly to your loungers by the pool or your sit down menu service for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You are still able to go to all the other buffet or a la carte restaurants within the resort, but we didn’t enjoy the food as much outside of the Royal area. Our suite was huge, comfor [... read more]table and clean. There are pools absolutely everywhere around the resort and a stunning man-made beach area with a Royal section at the beach also. They do invite you to a meeting at their ‘first club’ which I am assuming is a type of time share thing so we declined and there was no pressure from the staff to make us attend. The resort is quite big, with nature trails and lots of interesting places to walk but they offer a regular shuttle service to get you around. Covid precautions were taken seriously throughout the resort, masks in all indoor facilities for guests. Staff wore masks constantly, indoors and out. Wait staff wore goggles in addition to masks.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Do not Swim with Dolphins

I'm giving a lower star review on the hotel based on the archaic and cruel practice of swimming with dolphins. These beautiful creatures are taken from the ocean and their family pods and used and abused for our entertainment. The mental stress and physical damage from the chlorine used to keep the tanks clean burns their skin and eyes. I hope in the near future there will no longer be a demand for this form of 'entertainment' at the expense of these beautiful dolphins. Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Nice Adults Only Resort

Hotel staff are all very nice and welcoming. Hotel grounds, public areas and guestrooms are very well maintained and for the most part COVID protocols are in place around the hotel. Food and service is all very good. This is a large resort with the Bavaro Palace attached. When there are conventions or holidays, this attached hotel is very busy. You have to make restaurant reservations in advance upon arrival but all easily done through guest services. Beach is very nice. If you are looking for a quiet beach, this hotel is not for you. Party boats and fishing boats are located next to the hotel that play very loud music when they leave and return. Helicopter tours fly constantly over the beach. Some days are quieter than others. There is no bar service on the beach which was disappointing for an adults only hotel but the bar is easily accessible with fast and friendly service. There is also no snack bar located near the pool for light snacks throughout the day, not sure if this is due to Covid related protocols or not. In the beach restaurant, Maria is absolutely amazing!! Cannot say enough about the service with a smile that welcomed us daily! She goes above and beyond her role to make your stay a memorable one. We travelled with another couple and the evening entertainment when there was some was very nice and welcomed. Great lobby to hang out in, play games or just chill, with a nice bar and service to your seats. Overall a nice hotel, great weather, a nice beach and good food. Would return again.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Natures Paradise

Beautiful resort, well kept, clean, and lots of wildlife just outside your door. The salt water pools were just the right temperature to feel nice and refreshing when needing a break from the sun. The staff were super friendly, and the drinks excellent. My only issue was with the buffet restaurant. there was hand sanitizers placed at various locations, but rarely did people use them. No gloves were offered for the handles throughout the assorted food trays, therefore basically no Covid protectio [... read more]n at all except the mandatory mask rule and the temperature check upon entry. Also found the food temperature was a little cool, basically room temperature by the time I got back to my table. The coffee, juice, wine service was hit and miss, some days were excellent and others required getting up to find someone. Otherwise I fully enjoyed my stay.
