VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: very good hotel

Hi , we like to inform you the hotel its very good, location, pool ,and food are . one thing our room smell musty very strong specials over night i talk to the from desk and they just spray something every where in the room .because we were close to my sisters room we didn't said anything .

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Was not impressed

The only thing i liked was the staff, i have been to most of the Caribbean islands, never have i seen a resort have no bacon , no real sausage, no ice cream. The bars close at 12 midnite, the beaches were filthy, the ocean had debri flouting around. The room had a leaky shower that soaked the floor when you used it.one of the taps had no water. The place was more of a 3 star not a 4. There you have it, cause you asked.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Pretty resort

This was my 4th visit . The resort is well kept . I was very disappointed in the service . I couldn't get a waitress to get me a drink , coffee ,ice tea . I wasn't capable of carrying a coffee my hands shake . I burned my hand bad trying . I have copd and needed a bottom floor they put me on the 3rd floor . I was not able to do the steps . I couldn't make it for the my meals . They finally moved me on day 3 . My phone didn't work for the first 9 days and it was to hard for me to walk to front  [... read more]desk easily . The maid was very nice she took good care of my room . They had to fumigate my room there was big bugs crawling on my wall and headboard at night . I will go to a different resort next time . Service for drink at a meal is nice to have . I tipped for every meal but it didn't make a difference. So I stopped near the end of the trip. Food wasn't the best but I could find something to eat .

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Fall 2022 trip to Senator

Vacation for the books!! Rooms were very clean, staff extremely friendly. Zero line ups for buffet, or beach chairs, hardly any people so very quiet. Only one al la cart to choice daily as it’s their slow time. Would recommend to a friend.

Everything very clean, food was great, service was excellent. Lots of choices for restaurants and bars. Staff very friendly. Shows were great. Only one complaint is that I wish there was a cafe on the resort.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Relaxing as always

This was my 3rd time staying there. I enjoy the size of resort (small). Staff are always very nice and accommodating. My only complaints would be that the night shows are terrible and this time around buffet restaurant was closed for dinner Monday to Thursday leaving 1 less option for dinner.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Family friendly resort

The hotel was well maintained, clean and grounds were beautiful. Everything is close in proximity so that was very nice as well. It’s a smaller resort but has everything you need! We had a great family vacation! The Lolita Mexican A La Carte is a MUST! Justino was an amazing at all the a la carte dinners we had (we had 5!) and all the bartenders at the tiki tiki bar were awesome. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Well Managed Quality Resort

My wife and I truly enjoyed our week at the Senator. We have travelled many times each year over the last 40 years and given the "price point" we were not expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of all areas of this Resort. Many of the common areas (Lobby, Restaurants, Sports Bar, Pools and Theater) were recently rebuilt, so were all new. Lots of Air Conditioning problems according to other guests. We changed rooms once, hence this comment and also talked to other guests while there. The resort was constantly being cleaned and all of the staff are friendly and helpful. The food was excellent in quality and variety, so there was always something suitable to eat at every meal. With regards to Covid, you would think that it no longer exists. Apart from the excellent cleaning, no one was wearing a mask, anywhere. There were a few hand-sanitizing stations, but most times they were empty. Staff would interact with you very closely with no safe space. The shuttle buses were back to pre-covid times with no precautions. Admittedly, the tables in the restaurants were spaced far apart so this was good. Now for the negatives! The evening shows are very amateurish. The music and show schedules were never followed and there was no explanation given. Also, given the large percentage of English-speaking guests, it would be appreciated if a little English is spoken during announcements. The Drinks are all of very low quality, so a familiar drink is not enjoyable because the alcohol is watered-down. The wines are the worst that I have tasted! The Sunwing representative was absent for the entire week, so guests could not get important information like departure pick-up times. The same problem existed at the Playa bachata because I went there 4 times looking for someone. Other Reps from Air Canada, Air Transat, etc. were readily available, but not Sunwing! There was no information posted like the other tour operators. Improvements needed: better quality Alcohol, an entertaining evening show and some live music daily at cocktail hour, also some music in English as opposed to only Spanish because a large percentage of guests are English speaking. I have heard very similar comments from many other guests while I was on the resort. No resort is perfect but if improvement were made to the liquor quality, appropriate evening shows and music, this would be an excellent resort.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Select at Casa Marina

We stayed in a swim-out room on the Select side of the resort. The staff were great and very attentive. -The food was good and the A la cart restaurants were great. -The room was very spacious and well kept. On occasion there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke that came through the AC duct but it wouldn't last too long. -Pools were great, beach was closed for the first few days but opened for the last four. Sunscape Puerto Plata: Horrible resort

Full of locals on the weekend the food was cold horrible al Carter open only one or two days Noone there nothing to do my group had to take taki outside resort to eat the beds are horrible woke up sore bars are only open till one many repeat people who have been to that resort 9 times hated and and said they would not return

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great Times at Blue Bay Villas Doradas!

Entertainment staff was amazing and always had something for us to do. Food can get repetitive but you can always find something that’s good. Really recommend the catamaran Free Style. The crew was amazing and takes you out to 2 different spots to snorkel. Recommend booking with Cesar down by the beach bar.

Select Sosua Adults Only, Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great value

We stayed in a Select swim out room. The extras at Select are worth the upgrade, included are free safe & wifi which you must pay for on the reef side therefore the upgrade cost is not as much as you think. Room: It took a long time for the shower to get hot, or warm, or one day not warm, other than that the room was great. Food: Exactly as the previous reviews predicted, not so great, however the morning egg cook did a perfect over easy which needed up being the best meal of the day. Only on [... read more]e day with bacon, get there early. Service: Same as above, exactly as the previous reviews, slow. Suggest ordering your drink before you want it. The Select side is supposed to have poolside service. On our last day of 7, the waiter finally came by and ask us if we wanted a drink. Note the service at Herman’s restaurant was exceptional! Beach: It right after hurricane Fiona so the beach was closed most of the time. Opened for 2 hours and closed again very quickly. However, the very large waves hitting the reefs was beautiful. Missed the beach bar as it was also closed. Both ends of the resort were blocked off, due to the huge waves and safety risk, therefore we were unable to climb steps at the beach side and walk around the neighbouring resort or down the steps on the reef side, to Alicia beach. Location: Being right in town is a benefit, we were 2 women walking and we felt safe. There are many other bars and restaurants to check out. Recommend the 7 min walk to Sousa beach. Turn right out of the resort go a few blocks, there is a small sign pointing to Sousa Beach, turn left and follow it takes you there. Felt very safe. Lots of vendors trying to get you in to shop, just politely say no and keep walking until you find the perfect bar and tables looking out to the beach. Bonus: The very short transfer, max 15 minutes to resort. Overall, we would return to this resort, or just the area, for the right price. Needs to be a value considering the level of the food and service.

Pros the resort is clean Cons there is no entertainment at all or might life the drinks are watered down. The Buffett has bugs crawling In the food, they let locals stay at the resort on the weekends I was not told this in advance they take over and are rider butting in line and there are long lines Buffet runs a out the good food fast. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Simple and quaint some flaws with locals

Beach beautiful; can snorkel right off beach; need water shoes due to sea urchins; 1 buffet; 3 a la carts; enough variety of food you won’t starve; alcohol not premium - lots of sugary drinks; strawberry coladas were really good! rooms can use extra long mirror; hangers and hooks; Not a fan of locals taking over the whole resort on the weekends; was noisy, garbage everywhere; food wasted by locals and then none left if you came late; pool taken over by families; no pool towels to exchange: bu [... read more]t I guess they need to make money on the off seasons; Also lots of peddling on the beaches; they are there everyday;

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: AGood Resort

A good resort, with excellent foods.But unfortunately 2 days before the end of the vacation we had to face Hurricane Fiona, no blame to anybody except mother nature. But one thing we have to say, Air-Canada is not serious and sensitive towards it's travelers or customers.Next time we will try to avoid Air Canada flights. The hotel was absolutely beautiful, staff was quite friendly and hospitable, food was beyond amazing. Stayed on the Select side where was working and doing school from online during my vacation and the wifi was great!!!! the infinity pools are beyond words. The location was perfect.. right in the heart of SOSUA!!!!!! Very safe for folks travelling solo (as i was).Excellent excellent excellent!!!! perfect for families and couples, but for single folks travelling to sosua.. uummm.. its not guest f [... read more]riendly. Second time in this resort and will go again, the staff is really nice, the rooms are clean, the food is very good and many variety to choose from on the buffet, 2 min away from the night life in Sosua, really love it!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: BEAUTIFUL RESORT, IMPRESSIVE PEOPLE

In August 2022 I had the pleasure of taking my son on a vacation for his 20th Birthday, we traveled to Puerto Plata, República Dominicana, staying at the Gran Ventana Beach Resort. It was the best vacation we have ever experienced. The Resort was Beautiful & the food was Delicious, we were able to enjoy meals from 2 buffets & 3 restaurants several times throughout the day. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Good bang for your buck

My husband and i had a lovely time at the resort. We stayed for 7 days. We thought the food was pretty decent. The buffet mostly had the same food everyday but we didn’t find that to be a problem, as the food tasted good. A la carts were surprisingly good. There was lots of chairs at the beach and the pool, we never had a problem at any time of the day. Drinks were good. Lobby bar was our favourite to hang out around. We loved the beach and didn’t see anything wrong with it.  [... read more]Some seaweed that got cleaned up everyday. But.. As people say the locals really overtake the resort Friday to Sunday. But the rest of the week was quieter for sure. The pool was crowded over the weekend because of this. There were locals in the beach trying to get you to come down to their “market” to sell you things. They were very persistent and some days were set up on the resort blocking the pathways to the lobby and buffet so you could not avoid them. Like other people say, the pool was dirty. But they had a worker fishing things out of it every afternoon. We did have 1 cockroach in our room that we killed, but a day or two later there was a letter under our door stating that they were fumigating it, so it’s nice to see they were taking care of it. We had an updated room in building 1. So we had no complaints there. Except our AC wasn’t super cold, and our safe stopped working on our last day. Customer service was amazing. We had all power go out in our room one day and when we told the front desk, it was fixed within an hour or two. They had them phoned us later that evening to follow up and make sure it was working, which was nice to see. We really enjoyed our stay here, and like i said, for the money we payed, it exceeded our expectation.
