We stayed at Atelier adults side, Jan 9- 19. The rooms are gorgeous, and we had a good time. The check in was very slow. We booked a Junior Suite room and we try to upgrade to a higher floor but there were few conferences underway in the hotel and the hotel had no available rooms as we were told. The hotel tried to convince us to get an Inspira suite for $2,000 USD more and it is not worth the money in my opinion. However, there is no need for an upgrade. We had a partial ocean view room closer [... read more]to the beach.
The room that we originally got had a sewage smell. The entire building (first from the beach) has this issue as we talked with other people from the same building. I do not think the hotel can do anything about this. We changed the room for a similar one in the next building further from the beach (we were still able to have a partial ocean view). Be aware that the cleaning lady has a super key and can unlock your safe.
You do not need reservations to the restaurants (only Inspira guests are able to do it). However due to the conferences, the restaurants were closed by rotation to accommodate larger groups. One night we were told that the waiting time for the Los Abrazos is one hour!
Restaurants: our favourite was Los Abrazos (try the ribeye and the banana split) and our least favourite was Takeshi (Japanese). The food at Takeshi was extremely salty and overcooked. While we were there, they introduced Mexican night at El Suspiro and we enjoyed it. We also liked Cilento – yes the portions are small but very fulfilling if you get most courses. We had breakfast at Mercado few times and the service were not that great. Seating is aleatoric, we asked for water few times and by the times we finished breakfast we still haven’t got it. However, the food is very tasty and good. The best coffee at the coffee shop (Cafecito), good muesli and yummy croissants. We had a very nice surprise with the room service. It was the best room food we’ve ever had in all our travels. The steak was done perfectly, the service was prompt, and everything was great. I also loved the grill and salad lunch buffet at the Trompo. Everywhere the food was very good!
Beach: it is a very nice, wide beach. There are 2 beach levels. One right close to the pool as you step outside the resort, and as an extension, going up a bit, one near to the water. There are enough beds and chairs. There is one beach bar shared with the Estudio side (kids side). The beach is not clear delimited between the adults side and the kids side. There weren’t many kids while we were in the resort however I can see this being an issue especially since the bar is shared. There is seaweed on the beach (it is the entire region and there were storms while we were there) and the hotel is working hard to remove them.
Pool: it is large and there are enough chairs. However the day we left, in order to accommodate conferences events, they removed all the chairs and beds on one side of the pool. I was happy we were leaving but paying a lot of money for this resort, I do not think that I want to be restricted due to conferences (beach, restaurants etc.). In the morning they have a spa music on the PA system very nice. However, along the day they just had club music and it became very tiring after a couple of days. That’s why I think many people had their own music which it was even more annoying. I missed the Latin music such as salsa, bachata etc.
Activities: it is a pretty quiet resort. They have some activities, but they are not very well advertised. I do not think there are enough people in their entertainment team. Alejandro and Danny Boy did an amazing job during the day (Zumba, volleyball, water polo, bingo etc). We loved the rock band and the magician at nighttime. They need to rethink the nightly entertainment and how they advertise it.
Mosquitos: they are trying very hard to keep the mosquitos under control and they succeed most of the times. Just be careful after it rains before they spray it again. I am prone mosquito bites and I had no issues (few bites), just avoid walking around during the early morning and evening hours.
Personnel is absolutely fantastic! Very nice, polite and always trying to help you. Jasmin at the welcoming desk (various restaurants) was very efficient and organized and she remembered our names and room number! At the Steakhouse Jimmy is awesome, Laura was very quick and efficient, Angel was very nice. OMG all the people at El Suspiro are amazing (sorry I do not remember their names)! Alfonso, the manager, the guys from the bar etc.. They do not have octopus on the menu, and they made it special for us when we requested it. Thank you!!
Romero and the other guys (sorry for not remembering the names) at the pool are working so hard all day long. Always smiling, cracking jokes and always asking you if you need anything. Thanks to Alberto, one of the bell boys for helping us with the room and luggage.
It was a great resort and we had a very relaxing time. They still have few things to fix, nothing major. I thought that being a Mexican chain, I would experience more of the Mexican culture which it gets lost on the Mayan Riviera. I suggest they would bring that in through music, food (great that they introduced the Mexican night), artisan markets etc.

Occidental Tucancun: hoorr from hell
its was very bad the room was very dirty cook roche all over the room wall crack the food very cold not a lots of option its the vacation from hell and back they dont care about anything only just to give mony
This was a really big resort. The restaurants were delicious, the ocean view room was really nice, and it was really clean. Lots of pools and the beach was gorgeous. The only thing is that this seems to be a party resort. They have a beach club that starts pounding music at 11, and it draws a large younger crowd of party goers. Just good to know if you’re looking for a quieter environment, this isn’t the place to go.

Grand Oasis Cancun: I was expecting better than that
Bad service, food was ok. You had to wait 20 mins to get a drink. Security guards were acting rough. The food wasn’t what I was expecting. I stayed 4 days in the resort and finally ended up in a airbnb. But best place to party and have fun.

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Impressive AM resort
Great friendly service. Well maintained and always clean. Beach is OK. Lots of seaweed. Windy all the time. Pool is heated which is great but divided into three sections which is not great. Always fresh towels avail. Lobby and restaurants are farther away from the rest of the resort. Food is ok...better than what we previously experienced in Mexico but not quite there yet. Not a fan of differentiating service levels at the same resort. We paid extra for the Preferred Club which is segregated[... read more] to certain areas. No premium beer. Terrible house wine...lower quality Chilean. Same house wine everywhere around the resort including PC. The in-room minibar was not an upgrade. Ideally I would prefer to see all guests receive the same service level so you can enjoy premium service and booze all around the resort. We stayed in a one bedroom Master Suite which we enjoyed. It lacks a kitchenette. Only has a mini fridge. Should have a full fridge with freezer and ice. Very nice golf course but it’s not fully included. $99 US per person ‘cart fee’ before 1 PM. $70 US pp after 1 PM. Reliable & friendly shuttle service. Food & bev on the course is extra but attentive good service on the course. Preferred Club staff said we can request a packed lunch at an extra cost (why???). We just took sandwiches and beers from the PC room before heading for golf. One major dislike is the dolphin compound at Dreams next door. Why do they still cage dolphins to entertain ignorant people? Very disappointing to see that there. Dreams has a much better layout and pools. Will likely stay closer to Playa Del Carmen next time in Mexico.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Gorgeous resort
The hotel is absolutely beautiful and huge, all areas are clean and with lots of attractions like exotic birds, lizards and fish. It’s huge and surrounded by a 1 km pool with many bridges to cross to the other side. Even though our room was nice and clean I regret not having a dresser and a combination safe. The weather didn’t allow us to enjoy the beach though. The staff was very courteous and customer service was good. Our favourite dining was at Tul Kun buffette

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Good resort-did not like the layout with the restaurants so far away that you had to take golf carts.
Nice beach, appreciates that there were no vendors on it. Very windy so the surf was rough which’s apparently Accor to the staff is common for December and January. As a result swimming and snorkelling was not possible. The catamaran excursion was not as enjoyable either as there was no snorkelling. I would not recommend this resort to friends although I would recommend Dreams to people with children just not in December or January.

Moon Palace Cancun: Decent vacation
We had a pretty good time at this resort. Overall not a bad vacation but we were missing some things to make it amazing.
Pros: nice resort, good drinks, lots of space around the pools, decent food at the restaurants, 24hr room service + bistro. Access to the grand with a day pass was also a great experience to use their facilities such as the day club + water park.
Cons: terrible service at most of the a la carte restaurants - dinner one night took almost 3 hrs from start to finish with 1/2 [... read more]hr to 45 mins in between courses, resort was very busy and at times the bars were so busy the bartenders wouldn’t even acknowledge you until you were waiting for 10-15 mins, many areas of the resort need maintenance - cracks in the paint in the rooms, cracked and missing tiles in the pools, small things that haven’t been maintained over time, the beach was probably the worst part of this resort. I know this area has a problem with seaweed that renders the beach unusable, it does have a strong smell and when we made our way down within 30 seconds we were covered head to toe in sand fleas, not a great experience there. There is also not great night life and it gets very boring at points.
If I were to go back I would spend the extra money to stay at the grand side, where the facilities are better maintained and there is more to do.

Moon Palace Cancun: Amazing resort
Food and drinks were delicious. Excellent service. Amazing for kids. Both my 4 year old and 10 year old had a blast. The pool area was awesome. The only disappointment was the beach. We could not swim and lots of seaweeds.
The food was amazing in all of the restaurants. The coral level buffet in the tower had such fresh seafood every day I almost didn't want to eat anywhere else.
The beach is huge and awesome with more than enough of the various type of beach loungers. The staff throughout the resort were friendly and very helpful.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Not for everyone
It is a very nice very clean hotel with amazing staff, they are the best and very good to great food. The standard rooms are the smallest I have ever seen. The terrace room we upgraded to is more like a typical room you would expect to get. Very nice and updated. The building is set designed in a way that more than half the rooms have a poor to very poor view. It is not ocean front. The beach is very small, the size of a tennis court at the mouth of the lagoon, marina. No turquoise water or [... read more]waves. More like a murky lake. The pool is very nice. We like the ocean so it wasn’t for us.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Wonderful Staff and Service!
This hotel is perfect for someone who just wants to relax and take it easy in a one-stop, intimate setting. The resort is very contained, 3 a la carte restaurants surround a lovely pool area, and the buffet restaurant looks out over the ocean. The buffet was delicious (omelette bar every morning was my personal favourite) and the staff was extremely friendly, fast and gracious. The beach area is very small and confined, so if you're an ocean lover and prefer to frolick in the waves on your vacat[... read more]ions, this is not the place for you. If you love to sit in the sun poolside, this resort is perfect.
The resort keeps you entertained too. They would host a bingo game every day at 1pm by the pool, and every night the hotel had a show - circus, magician, Jersey Boys - it was great.
I would recommend this to any family or couple or friend group looking to relax. The atmosphere is a perfect mix between fun and relaxing.
Final note - I had a massage while I was there and it was outstanding. Some hotel massages can be extremely average, and this one felt professional and upscale.

Occidental Costa Cancun: An amazing experience and resort! A++++
We loved the Occidental Costa Cancun for many reasons. The service was incredible (room, restaurants, front desk, bartenders - you name it!). We were impressed with how clean the resort was at all times. The food (buffet and al la carte restaurants) were all fantastic.
A great location on the Cancun hotel strip - easy to catch a cab or a bus into the downtown core.
All around, we loved our experience and we're very sad to head home.
10/10!!!

Moon Palace Cancun: Fantastic family resort
We stayed at the Grand at Moon Palace. Highly recommend this resort for families with children. The resort is huge with various activities for kids of all ages. The rooms were amazing & the food was fantastic for an AI resort. Definitely worth 5 stars.
