Occidental Punta Cana: Nice resort

Food needs improvement house keeping is slow. Need more speaking English. The resort is beautiful over all. The beach could be more groomed. I don't think I would go back. The hotel is very nice. The shows were really good. Drinks well you know.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: A nice four-day getaway

The grounds were well kept at this resort. We loved the fact that it was smaller - felt more intimate and not so much walking to do to get everywhere. Pools were beautiful and beach area was too. Would have liked the restaurants to be open for lunch too for more variety, but the buffet was good for lunch.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Like going home

This is not our first stay at the Barcelo Palace in Punta Cana. We go there because we need to rest and relax . The rooms are always clean, food always wonderful and the staff are lovely. Next year we will be going back but for longer. We love our Dominican Palace, it's like going home

Riu Republica: Garden view rooms are not garden view

I was very disappointed that I was put into a room that overlooked the laundry facilities of the hotel next door, plus there was always a loud generator sound. It was not pleasant sitting on the balcony and I continuously left my curtains shut. Two of the friends I was travelling with also had the same experience. They 'haggled' with the front desk (wasted a 1/2 a day) and they were moved to a much nicer location. I enjoyed the food and was happy not to have to make reservations. The wine was the worst I have ever had and I have been to several resorts. I only drink wine so this was another big disappointment. I could hardly wait to get back to have a nice glass of cabernet-merlot. Had I of known, I would have purchased some at duty-free. An improvement could be made in expanding the number of washrooms in the public areas (especially by the pool) -- three is not enough for the ladies and there was always a line-up. The dining room staff were excellent when we were first seated but never came back to see if we needed refills on our water, etc, and we are generous tippers. We always had to flag someone down. They were great at the a la carte. We loved the entertainment staff. I sure hope this helps to make improvements for others travelling to the Riu Republica. I, unfortunately, will never book there again.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing Resort!!

We just came back from the Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort and we can't wait to go back. The service was phenomenal, the food was amazing and the grounds were so well kept. See you next year as this is going to be our annual destination!!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great little resort

The room was one of the nicer ones I've had in the carribean. It was very clean and the service is fantastic. The food is pretty good, not awesome, but pretty good. The pools are nice and the beach is clean and very nice. This beach has waves, which I absolutely love! On occasion you had to wait for a clean towel, but not for very long. There is no free internet at all at this resort and you also have to pay for the safe. But it's worth it!

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Tired Resort

The resort is in need of a total upgrade. The rooms are old, and musty. YOu have to pay to rent a safe in your room, and the keys are so old, ours broke the first time we tried to use it. We took it back to the front desk and they scotch taped it. The resort lacks places to sit, especially at the bar areas and entertainment areas. If you are not a member, you cannot use all the restaurants, bars, or beaches. We had to go to the lobby every morning to book the restaurant that we wanted to dine  [... read more]in for that day only, and we got whatever was left over after the members had booked theirs. We needed two wristbands to wear at all times, one for the all inclusive, and one for the transportation to get to parts of the resort. The resort brings in guests by helicopter which lands on the property, but after having 5 helicopters a day land, it gets pretty irritating and loud. However, the food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The entertainment at the resort ended at 9pm, then you had to take transportation to the Colosseum to continue with more entertainment. Since the resort is a time share, salesmen are bugging you from the minute you walk in, till the day you leave to go for a tour, to buy or to come with them to show you the time share properties. We were on vacation, and we do not want to be bothered by this, but they always hung out to the exit of the buffet, and chased you down every time! Our frig in the room was never stocked the whole week we were there, we had to leave a note for them to leave us water on our second day. On our first day, the room was not even cleaned. They came around 5pm and asked if we wanted it done then, while we were getting ready to go for dinner.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great time at the Iberostar

Overall we were impressed with this resort- beautiful beach, well kept grounds, everything was laid out very well, and the little touches such as the soft serve ice cream machine and popcorn machine at the pool buffet did not go unnoticed. The entertainment staff here is the best I have seen in 6 years of traveling south. The only downfalls were the food (felt like I was always struggling to find something to eat and usually settled on pizza or pasta with salad) and the vendors that walked the  [... read more]beach and pool area and were kind of aggressive.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: 5th visit to VH Gran Ventana

This resort never ceases to amaze! We have been here as a couple three times and twice as a family (kids 14 & 5). The staff are always friendly and very welcoming. It's always a great feeling when the staff remember you after not seeing you for a year. The food was great once again and the resort is always very clean. Nickelodeon Hotel Punta Cana: Great hotel

The hotel was beautiful and the beach was nice except the water was rough and the service was terrible. They were booked to capacity and I think they couldn't handle it. The restaurant were nice but there was not enough staff and it was very slow. We went to the character breakfast and the kids enjoyed it but it was not worth paying for (ours was included)

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Impressive resort run by impressive staff

Just returned from 8 days at Chic Punta Cana. We had an amazing time while there, mostly due to the amazing service from the friendly staff at Chic. They are genuine in their desire to make your experience a memorable one for the right reasons. The few issues we had at the start of our stay were quickly remedied. The staff work hard to ensure you have all you need but mostly that you are really enjoying yourself. It's all about the customer experience and it shows. We were approached and asked if we wanted to partake in a presentation once, declined and we're not approached again. You politely decline and they politely accept. It did not once overshadow the wonderful time we spent at this resort. The food was top notch and the variety of restaurants was great. Special shout out to our butler Jose in building 4 for his undying attention as well as our beach servers Maribi and Yafresi who went beyond when Bob celebrated a birthday while there. The front desk manager Gustavo Lora took a personal interest to ensure our stay was comfortable. Amazing warm, friendly and genuine staff!

Riu Palace Macao: Awesome resort!

Excellent service, great food, awesome bartenders, very clean, smaller resort but was great, less walking for dinner, wonderful beach area. All workers were very very friendly and most of them spoke English.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Amazing Time

My husband and I stayed at Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort. we had amazing time they had given us building 6 which was one of the best ones. The room and the decor was a bit out dated but always clean, fridge was stock up as well as extra towels. its always good to know your house keeper and also good to tip them. Bring lots of tip money !!! I was lucky that I can speak Spanish we where able to communicate with the staff in the resort. Its all about getting you to join the VIP club which is time sharing !!! .We took two day trips, one was 1/2 day to visit the town the other one was extreme water falls..I highly recommend this one.

Riu Republica: Great

Hard to find fault with this resort. Food and service was great. Very nice beach. Only slight fault was higher winds made swimming in ocean difficult. Would recommend this resort to anyone. Good value for your dollar

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

Beautiful Resort with very hard working staff. Our butler Roldon was very attentive to us and the entertainment staff were superb in keeping the guests engaged and having fun from the nightly shows to anywhere throughout the Resort at all times during your day. This was our 3rd visit and we will definitely be returning. Also love that we can now fly (almost) direct from our city! Would recommend The Majestic Colonial Club to all my friends and family.

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: 5 star

Hotel Vik The grounds and hotel were impeccable the food and variety was amazing the pool was massive and cleaned regularly the washrooms were nice and cleaned several times a day the resort was smaller but was just what we were looking for.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Third time at this resort and it doesn't disappoint

This resort gives you a bang for your buck. Beautiful grounds and pools. Food was quite good. We were there from Feb 23rd - March 9th (late and into 10th). We are already planning on going back again next year. It is a 3.5 star resort and I think that's mainly because the rooms are just a little dated, but who stays in their rooms anyways. Beds were comfortable and showers had warm to hot water. We went to Luigi's a la carte 3 times and really enjoyed it as well. I rate this a 4. Oh, and another good thing is that this hotel complex is only 15 mins from the airport and you can also leave the resort and hit sort of downtown Sosua in 5 mins. to get wine, etc. (sorry, but the wine down here is just so awful)

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Great resort.. BUT

Beach was amazing. Pool was good but very cold and very limited chairs/seating. Restaurants were great and excellent service. The only major problem was the amount of up-selling/soliciting you receive on a constant basis. It used to be just vendors/locals who ask you to buy different items now the resort itself is always trying to solicit. It seems like every 10 minutes you get approached to buy an excursion or water sports package. At night time, there are jewelry/art vendors right on the high traffic paths aggressively trying to sell you merchandise. I felt like a walking dollar sign the entire week. Occidental Punta Cana: Great hotel!

I just got back from one week holiday, March 1st to March 8th, I had a great room building #26, renovated room, pool view and to the right the beach! The food was good, there's something for everyone, I really like the Mexican A La Carte, I didn't like the Italian, I had chicken parmesan which was deep fried, I'm use to being baked but I heard lots of people were having steak there and it was good. I didn't find the service that great. I had a wonderful time it was very clean and safe. One thing would of been nice is to be able to go to the gym anytime, we had to wait until 8:00 a.m. for the guy to open it, would of been better if we could of use our key card.

The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana: Beautiful Resort for Families!

We loved this resort - travelled as a couple with baby and grandparents. Stayed in two, one bedroom suites which were huge. We did not upgrade to family concierge. Beautiful grounds - easy to walk, above average AI food, excellent drinks, friendly customer service. Absolutely geared to families looking for a higher-end vacation - lots of well behaved kids and babies. I would truly recommend elsewhere if you are looking for a party scene, entertainment or a rowdy crowd. The resort is one of the f [... read more]ew higher end resorts left that are not adults only so leave this one for the wee ones if children are bothersome to you :) Rooms are well appointed but can be incredibly noisy depending in how careless your neighbours are - bring a white noise machine for children (they could use some door silencers/jammers to prevent banging doors at all hours and some covers on chair bottom covers to prevent squealing chairs being dragged across suites). In addition there are about 20 light switches and two thermostats which can cause alot of frustration. Pool is huge/clean and ocean is lovely - shaded chairs are (almost) always available. Shuttle can take you to the beach - or you can walk (probably about 12 minute walk) - as a guest of The Reserve there is a private bar/washrooms and sectioned off part of the beach which is an awesome perk if you are a shade seeker/need shade for your little one! No problem booking a la cartes a few days in advance, just see the concierge in your building soon after you arrive. We enjoyed Vento, The Grill, and the teppanyaki the best! Enjoy!
