Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Amazing resort!
Recently we stayed at this amazing resort. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed watching the ocean from the balcony of our junior suite ocean view room. The cleaning staff kept our room spotlessly clean, and we enjoyed the nightly turn down service. The food was delicious (excelente). The drinks were great. The hotel and grounds were continuously being cleaned and groomed. This small resort was quiet and we could always find a chair whether on the beach, pool, bar or restau[... read more]rants. Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Big resort small challenges
Great pools and lots of them. Never felt crowded. Food was typical all inclusive freshly made and repetitive. Our toilet kept breaking down, pillows were the worst ever. The room was spacious and extremely clean.
There were "streams" flowing into the ocean and the smell was bad. Turns out it was grey water from what we figured was the sewage filtration system. If you don't like stairs this place is not for you.

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Enjoyed our Holiday at Dreams Dominicus
What a beautiful resort. The entertainment staff stand out to me as being one of the best parts of our vacation. They worked so hard and were so enjoyable.
The food was also amazing . The a la carts were done very well and the food was excellent. It was great not having to reserve.
There is a few things that need improvement. The language barrier was a big one, a lot of staff couldn't speak English. At coffee bar wanted a Spanish coffee , they did not know what it was, and could not un[... read more]derstand us when we tried to explain it. It would be helpful to have a list of drinks with ingredients listed to delete the confusion at the bars. Also for some reason we often got mugs and glasses that were dirty. One night we got a beer with a straw paper cover in it . Also one morning my coffee mug had lipstick and imprint of lips on the outside of mug. Not sure if they dont have a good dishwasher or , it appeared the glasses and mugs may have just been rinsed off. This grossed me out.
I felt that at bars and restaurants they need to improve on their organization it often seemed they were running scattered.
There is not a lot of shade on the beach and we had to always ask for umbrellas . Just invest in more umbrellas ....problem solved.
I understand they just opened and i feel that if they listen to the reviews and address some of the issues this resort will be amazing.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Luxury Bahia 9th time
Okay, first of all, there were 4 of us.....Denis Huberdeau, Caroline Guertin, Joanne Clark and Lucie Huberdeau
This hotel I swore by and have sent many people to. However, it has taken a major turn. I (Lucie) offered my Sister Joanne a spl trip for xmas and as soooo disappointed. I also suggested and referred Denis and his wife to go here for their 25 Wed Anniversary. Horrible.
Joanne and I got there first Feb 9 and Denis and his wife caught up to us on Feb 12. We had asked if po[... read more]ssible to be put in a specific area on the site in which did not happen. First afternoon at the beach, we asked to changed chairs as the chairs we are sitting on are privileged members ONLY!!!!! What is a privileged member now...? we need to buy it....become a sorta RCI type member for 17,000 US $ ..this is sooo crazy. After going 9 times and sending all kinds of people. this is the treatment we get?
Both our rooms were on the outside of the site, alongside a construction site. Just horrible. Also booking outtings with AC sucks....they are not on time, furthermore, we were told that we needed to be in the lobby one hour prior to the departure of the bus to make our way back home. Guess what, we are told that the bus is running 20 mins late. We wait the 2o mins to finally be told that the bus has already come and gone. There were 3 couples including ourselves waiting on the bus. AC didn't care, they told us that if we wanted to make the flight that we had to a cab a $40 US ride. This we had to pay out of our pockets. They are now just money makers......horrible. Will not go again with AC as a supplier nor will the Bahia Princ see us anytime soon. I strongly suggest and will refer future clients to the Secrets!!!!!!!!! Was sitting on the beach one day with people that had a greyish/gold type bracelet on in which they claim got first class service in everything they did as the were now privileged due to the amount of times they had been there! Give me a break. This was my 9th and last time. we are treated like any local unless we now buy the priviledged package that Mr DON offers to clients for a cheap amount of $17,000 US.....trust me, 17,0000 US can take me for a long ride without having to put up with all this nonsense of being low class......Will never recommend another person to your site!!!!!! if you do a quick math of an avge of 1800 per trip per person 9 years in a row. MY PRIVILEGE SHOULD BE UP AND ABOVE THE DIAMOND CLASS OF PEOPLE.......ONE LAST COMMENT, IT RAINED FOR 3 DAYS AND WE WERE NEVER ABLE TO GET DRY TOWELS, WHETHER IN THE ROOMS .........OR AT THE POOL. SHOWERTIME CAME AROUND, WE GOT WET TOWELS TO DRY WITH!!! THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

TRS Turquesa: Overall vacation great but a bit disappointed
Overall the resort and vacation was great. We were able to relax, enjoy the sun and the beach. There was a few things that we were surprised. We arrived on Sunday and that same day, we went to our butler and requested to received our "Ã la carte" restaurant. We were told that it was quit full and the nights we wanted to go the hours were not pleasant. It was either 6pm or 9pm and the restaurants we wanted to go were full. We were told that this can be done in advance on the site of the resort, [... read more]so I would recommend highly to reserve your "Ã la carte" restaurant before arriving at the resort.
Rooms in building 50 were very updated and nice. Close to the beach, pool and lobby. Highly recommend.
For the man, you are allowed to wear shorts at the restaurants in the evening with enclosed shoes. No need of long pants!
Service wasn't exceptionally great. It may be because of the culture of the Dominican but I've been to different places in the Caribbean and for a 5 star adult only resort, I didn't felt that I got my money worth for it. There is room for improvement.
Entertainment is not a big here. If you like shows at night, not the place. Our lobby is enclosed and very cold so never went for a drink. The other lobbies at the other Palladium resorts that you can go at anytime were great but for the nightly shows, this is a disappointment. They were too far from our resort and very late (after 10pm).
Best spot on the beach. Enough chairs, towels. No need to wake up early and reserve a chair at the beach. For the pool, the one closest to the beach yes you would need to reserve a spot early but the other pool between the building 50 and lobby (this is the best one), you do not need to reserve a chair.
I would recommend this resort if you are not looking for any big entertainment, just for relaxation and not more.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: How does this resort rate 4 stars?
We were told we were going to a 4 star resort and we were very disappointed when we got there. If it is a 3 star resort, I would be surprised. We were there from February 3 - 10, 2017. The a la carte restaurants were excellent but being restricted to one visit in each of the three for the whole week, we relied mainly on the buffet for our meals. While there appeared to be a great variety, a lot of it was not very appealing and it was very repetitive. We felt they were offering the dinners from t[... read more]he day before for breakfast and lunch. The buffet dining room was very disorganized and the staff in there was not very friendly or helpful. They each seemed to have their own jobs to do and were not willing to give us napkins if they were not the napkin person! The same with cutlery, water, wine. There are many staff members in there, but very poorly organized. The grounds themselves were OK. The pool was quite small but pleasant and I did my physio exercises in there everyday. The beach was nice but each day, it was a scramble to get decent loungers that we could move into the shade. A lot of the lounge chairs on the beach were broken or torn and no one seemed to be bothering about removing them. They were a safety hazard as far as I was concerned.
Another safety concern was the fire alarm, which rang many times when we were in our room. One night it went off 4 times. We were not told what this alarm was and the first time we went rushing out into the hallway expecting to see people leaving the building, but no one was in sight. When we eventually asked about it, we were told it was the fire alarm and that someone must have been smoking in their room. I thought we should have been warned of this when we checked in. As it occurred so often, we just started ignoring it, but had there actually been a fire, it could have been very detrimental.
A couple of stars amongst the staff were the ladies who cleaned our room each day. They were always smiling and friendly. Another bright star was a waitress named Andrea. She was very friendly and helpful.
We definitely will not be returning to this resort.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Would not go back
Where do I start, I suppose it wasn't a total bust but....
-6 out of the 8 days the water was luke warm at best making for a uncomfortable shower.
-power outages were frequent
-an abundance of cockroaches in our room (they did upgrade us to a spa suite which was bug free and a little nicer
-Although we did get sick from the food, there was not a very large selection of food at the buffet.
-The "Lifestyle Club" that they are promoting is very irritating. The Confresi section is in dire need [... read more]of updating but their main focal seems to be to push the timeshare.
-Room refridgerator were not restocked unless requested.
Lack of having a casual drink in a bar unless you were a VIP member
- No onsite entertainment unless you took a shuttle off site.
-Definitely not a place if you have issues walking due to the amount of stairs. That being said you had to watch out for private golf carts on the paths
Most of the staff were friendly and due to the amount of pools on site there was always lounges available
The spa was nice and offered a hot tub, pool, sauna and gym if you bought a massage or any other sevice they offered. You were able to use these amenities for the remainder of your stay if you so desired

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great trip!!
Quite impressed with this resort. It is small, has a small buffet and 3 restaurants. Definitely enough selection of various food to satisfy our tastes.
The staff in dining areas and animation group are extremely courteous and friendly.
Very clean resort. Large rooms.
The only complaint/draw back would be the extra cost for premium liquor.
Have been to various other all-inclusive resorts and this is the first time I said I would go back to the same resort!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Very Nice Resort
This resort is very nice, clean and staff are friendly, although it is a very large resort. It was a bit challenging (and frustrating) the first few days to find our way around. It would be a good idea for the resort to put a "you are here" on their maps. Reception upon arrival was lacking; there was no orientation on how things worked around the hotel, i.e. where we could find lunch, what restaurants we could use, towels, etc. We were basically directed to a seat in the lobby with no further di[... read more]rections. After a few minutes we were given our envelope which included our key, a map of the resort and a schedule of the daily activities and a bracelet for our wrist.
The rooms are very nice and spacious. And clean! They are cleaned everyday and the fridge was always stocked. The grounds are beautiful; manicured gardens always being worked on. The pools were great and always seats available, although the shaded ones are limited. The resort should consider getting more umbrellas. There is heavy construction taking place on one side of the resort which is very loud, fortunately, we were place on the pool side so we did not get any of this noise.
The lobbies are very spacious and comfortable; very conducive to a relaxing atmosphere. Entertainment was always provided in the evening such as live music, dancing, etc. Michael Jackson show was excellent. Waiters are very attentive and always checking on drinks.
We did not try any of the restaurants as we did not want to be committed to reservations (time) and we were quite happy with the buffet. Staff are very friendly and we did not encounter any problems. We enjoyed eating in the open air section of the buffet restaurant.
The beach was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the ocean. It was a bit challenging to find loungers at times as many of them are reserved very very very early in the morning. But we managed ok and spent a lot of time walking the beach. The beach is a fair distance from our room but shuttles are always going by to provide rides to wherever you're going.
If I was to comment on anything about this resort is the communication between the resort and their guests is not very clear. (orientation upon arrival and map)
Our stay at the Occidental Punta Cana was amazing! Wonderful people, beautiful, clean resort! I do not recommend going to Punta Cana with Pesos because all they take is American so we got ripped off huge! The airport was a complete nightmare as they only accept American or credit card! Well when you don't have either and have to exchange Canadian to American, they ROB you! Which happened to us because we were starving because 6 hours of waiting because our plane was delayed we were starving and[... read more] dying of thirst so we had to spend money! Would love compensation from Air Transat as well because they were horrible! Won't be flying with them again! Not too sure if I want to go back to Dominican again unless the American dollar is good and we can exchange it here! I wish we knew better! But again, the resort was great and I would stay there again if we went back!

Punta Cana Princess: Fabulous Resort
Resort, staff, food, beach all amazing! Would certainly recommend this adult only resort to anyone who is looking for a small, quiet and friendly resort to relax. There is little to no nightlife at this resort, but able to take trams to sister properties.
