Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Amazing Resort for families
My wife and I took our kids (girl 8; boy 5) for a 7-day vacation to the Bahia Principe Grand Coba. In short, it was amazing. We loved our trip.
- Food was great. We also really liked the Japanese Tepyniaki and the Indian restaurant.
- Pools are huge with tons of chairs and huts (you can show up at 10am and still have shaded huts, or show up anytime and have a lounge chair but in the sun). Kids also loved the waterpark.
- Beach was really cool and clean. Tons of fish swimming at your feet a[... read more]nd not too rocky compared to other Mayan Riviera resorts.
- Service was excellent.
- Room was very clean.
- tons of wildlife which is always fun. Lots of iguanas and coaties.
- Finally, the greatest thing was the Kids Club. The staff there are amazing. Kids were always looking forward to it and didn't want to leave. They rehearse during the day and put on plays in front of parents at night and its wonderful. kids did Moana, Frozen, and a talent show. A big thank you to Yuli, Ami, and Karla!
Only con is the distance from the Cancun airport. About an hour and a half depending on traffic. But its well worth it for this resort. We will likely go again next year.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Best place ever
Highest marks in every category from food to grounds from customer service to activities. I have never been to a resort I would return to until now.
Seriously 10/10
Clean, spacious inside and out, price good, variety of food , evening shows great, quantity of food, towels and alcohol.
Even other customers I meet were awesome to be around and happy.
I have not one thing negative to say except I wish I could have stayed longer.

Allegro Playacar: Beautiful beach
This hotel was exactly what my 18-year old and I needed, amazing beach and ocean access, good food and drinks and entertaining shows at night. Unfortunately, two of the three restaurants were closed while we were there and if you look for anything to eat after 10pm, you are out of luck. The rooms are comfortable (two big beds) and we were lucky to be right in the middle between the main restaurant and the beach. I liked the layout of the resort with all the smaller buildings with rooms and the t[... read more]wo pools. Also, if you look for a little shopping, Playa Del Carmen is an easy 20 minute beach walk away with lots of shops and restaurants. The shows were great and the staff was very friendly. I would go back because of the beautiful beach and relaxing atmosphere.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Good fun
We would recommend the Mexican restaurant for lunch and hitting the a la carte for dinner. The la carte fills up quickly so we needed to book at 8am when the reservation for the day opened up. And if you want a lounge chair be sure to get out there early. We had good fun participating in the events. The silent dance party was our favourite. A fun stay with decent food. We would go back and close to town.

Deffienetly not a 5 star resort. No pool bars, no shade, can't get a lounge chair unless ur awake at 5am. Food was always cold. Waited in line for 25 minuites a day for pasta. Not very many options. Wouldn't let us check in 1 hour early to our room. Checkout took 1 hours in line.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Best Resort we have been too
Great resort, amazing and courteous staff and 5* food, with plenty of amazing menu options. This place has it all, Including good accommodation, beautiful grounds and nice sandy beach. The drive from the airport was 1.5- 2 hours, depending on traffic. Air transit rep at the hotel was non-existent. There was no information about the transfer back home found in the travel office at the hotel. Shout out to our tripcentral travel agent! She was great!

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Not a 5 star
While the grounds, the staff and the food is good, I would not rate the Blue Diamond resort a five star, nor would I call it a Hidden Gem.
There are serious maintenance issues here that need addressing before it could be restored to its former glory.
Number one; the room air conditioning did not work for our entire trip. We called the concierge 4 times, and they sent maintenance people each time, pretending to fix it but the room was always sweltering! This was not unusual as we spoke to othe[... read more]r guests who also had various mechanical issues in their rooms too.
Some had no air conditioning, some had no hot water.
We also had a major leak in our bathroom sink which made the bathrooom floor very slippery and dangerous. That did not get resolved.
Our patio room was very spacious and had loungers and a plunge pool, however you had to call to get the plunge pool filled with freezing cold water, only to have it drain out. This was because all that was holding in the water was a rag.
The decking at the pool area and steps to the beach is full of decayed boards and rusty nails sticking up.
While the food is good and the servers are good, neither restaurant is air conditioned.
We were not happy to be charged $20USD for room service delivery after arriving 9 hours late thanks to Sunwing. There was also a “special menu” for each dinner. The prices were outrageous, but what “all inclusive” charges for steaks, seafood and wine?? All inclusive should be all inclusive. This resort is not.
The beach was lovely and the staff worked tirelessly to clean up the seaweed, but there were only 9 beach umbrellas for the entire beach. Not nearly enough and no additional shade was to be found.
The resort is nestled in nature and the grounds are well kept but don’t book this resort if you have mobility issues with very long walks or stairs. It’s probably over 1km from one end to the other on a rough cobblestone path. Golf carts are available but the wait can be long and tips are expected.
Some tips are deserved by hard working friendly staff but some tips are expected for services that should be included.
We enjoyed our visit but we would not return nor recommend.
Would not recommend Sunwing at all.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Memorable family vacation
Fun family vacation with grandbabies (3 and 7 months). Surf was rough this week so we did not swim in the ocean but did play in the sand. The pools were great for the littles. We attended the kids club with older child, there were sufficient staff to children ratio. We did not leave our child there, but she enjoyed the other kids and facilities. The dining rooms offered good variety of quality foods, staff very attentive and friendly. We travelled with a vegan and gluten free and she always ate [... read more]well (including specialty Mexican restaurant). We only attended one show this week due to littles, it was quite good. Our room was made up every day and fridge well stocked with beverages. We arrived late Tuesday, we had a beautiful welcome tray of fruits and a bottle of wine. On the downside adult male in our party and the toddler both got sick final day, best guess is Norovirus (vomiting and diarrhea). My recommendation to this is to go back to hand sani at entrances to dining areas (reduces but does not eliminate the viral load). I travel well stocked with gravol, immodium and gatorade powder, so mitigated gastro disaster

Barcelo Maya Palace: MUST Stay at Riviera Maya Adults Barcelo
I am happy to say Our experience over 20 years staying at the Barcelo Resorts in the Mayan ?? has always been fantastic because of the food, service, and ambience of expansive beachfront property It has a Chain of 6 in total. It’s established and operates efficiently, well maintained. Our recent trip this Feb.2025 is by far the most exquisite as we upgraded to the Riviera Maya Adults, their newest waterfront hotel built approximately 5 yrs ago, which we were curious to see. This hotel is absolut[... read more]ely stunning architecturally, and visually breathtaking by design. Its functional layout is seamless from the doorstep of your amazing rooms -we had the garden view facing the back, which was very quiet and private with a Jacuzzi which all rooms have on a huge deck. The massive infinity pools are so impressive, like I’ve never seen before. The Hydro spas available in the outdoor pools are more than enough plenty of space and loungers. The service is impeccable very professional, especially in the buffet. The food is absolutely divine, fresh fruit daily Mangos, Papayas, Chinese Pomegranate! Rabbit, Turkey, Lamb , Beef tenderloin - International cuisine, and gluten free offerings. A high level of quality, very clean and well presented. The a la carte Restaurants provide a variety of choices with authentically tasty dishes served in charming, and modern decor. The Bars are top shelf. The staff are excellent - professional! They go over and above to please you)and speak English even though my Spanish is decent). It is the best place for the value I’ve ever stayed at in Mexico and we will definitely return and, recommend it to my friends and family. (Next time will try to fly out of the new Tulum airport, as it is closer with less traffic) but still worth the drive to this oasis regardless. You don’t have to leave - relaxation is key here. It’s also a fabulous venue for corporate events as it has a huge convention center. There’s also easy access to all the other amenities in the neighboring older Hotels, offering entertainment and shopping, a true atmospheric 5+ Star ⭐️ Thank you

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Best all inclusive I've stayed at
Wow!! This place is awesome. We have zero complaints. If we had a problem it was fixed for us right away. The grounds are beautiful. Pools are a perfect temperature for February. It was hot 30 degrees everyday. The food.. let's just say the buffet is amazing. If you want it they have it. We ate at 4 Al a carte. 2 were on the Sian Kaan resort the others were at the other properties

Bring lots of balls it's tough. The course was 2 minutes from our room. We definately will be back. Don't pay attention to any bad reviews. This place is well worth the money.

We found the grounds of the hotel to be very nice. We found the food to be bland and not alot of options to choose from. Cockroaches in our room and we had a Cotè that slept on our balcony each night, thus leaving behind it's fecal matter and urine. My husband and I came home covered in bites from head to toe. We r told this was from the beach, sand flies I guess. We have traveled to many resorts in Mexico and we found this one to be the worst. Catalonia Yucatan: Picture on website 10 years ago
We did not like the way air Canada representative.
Talk to us. Key was out of line and was busy and he didn't represent air, Canada or any Canadians. He is an ignorant person. His name is Eric and I do have a picture which I would love to send to you with his badge ID he needs to retrieve. From doing this job, as he does not enjoy his work. The bars opened, we had to serve ourself. We were never asked for drinks. There was never any everything on the side where we are had to stay trying to book[... read more] an all inclusive, you need to do to wake up at 8 o'clock and download an app was more work. When I pay for a holiday, I pay to get spoilt and not being able to actually have them. You have to stand in line and wait for them to open and have a cocktail. There was no pot in the fridge, only bottled water. The deck couldn't sit outside as it was as dirty as it was with leaves and no chairs. That was exciting to sit there. You consider this a 4.7, the pictures you see on their site. Is when the sight opened over 8 or 10 years ago? You need to make yourself current and visit the site via fly on the wall. I have told people who work there and they've only started. I've been there a day 2 days. I'm not sure where it is. There was only salt and pepper shakers on lebries, which was the book buffet the other one? None, you have to ask and fight for salt pepper shakers. The food 6 go all the way to Mexico to eat burgers. French fries fried chicken. It's crepes things that we get in Canada and well made. I was going for authentic something special. Very limited will never return.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Couples Vacation to the Bahia
We loved the Bahia Akumal, this property really has put the effort into accommodating everyones needs, vacation type and budget. This property has 4 resorts in one, if you stay at Akumal and Sian Ka'an you have access to all 4 resorts which are accessible by tram. And you have 7 a la carte dinners at any of the restaurants on the property. By using the bahia app you can book your a la carte up to 10 days before your departure. We really enjoyed that aspect of our trip was already taken care of. [... read more]
Akumal makes efforts to ensure there are adults only spaces throughout the resort; on the beach as well as an infinity pool with its own buffet, which was also adults only, offering breakfast and lunch. We really enjoyed this feature as we could go for breakfast and stay till lunch and then decide where we wanted to go for the rest of the afternoon.
Sian Ka'an was the other adults only; however the age demographic was mostly 50-60's and this resort was a good distance from the beach and more of a jungle vibe; very quite and secluded. However we prefer to be near the beach where we can hear the ocean. If you are a Golfer this side of the resort has a PGA course.
Some of the differences between Akumal and Tulum (the more popularly booked option and the biggest section of the complex) Tulum is more updated and is quite large, it also has the biggest beach frontage however the largest section of the beach (at least during the time of year we were there: February) didnt have enough space between the short and an incline to put loungers so the loungers for this section were behind a short fence and some greenery/vegetation. This part of the beach is also the closest to Tulum's largest pool. So a bit of a walk down the beach to get to the loungers that are directly on the beach where you can see the surf. The beaches at Akumal give you more options in terms of terrain; the adults only section of the beach has quite a lot of ocean life and a great spot to snorkel, they ensure all akumal beaches have surf breaks and therefore much calmer water to enter and exit from and makes snorkeling possible however, one of these beach options was fairly rocky so consider wearing water shoes. Tulums bigger beach doesn't have a break and during our stay the waves were too strong to make the swim enjoyable, so it was really nice to have a calmer option at akumal. Tulum has more snack bars for between the lunch and dinner service buffets then Akumal has, and we found that they kept those snack bars more stocked and therefore more options to choose from then akumal. We found the differences between the luxury option at Akumal and Tulum and Coba to be slight but worth it. They have poolside and beach drink service. They have service at every bar vs self serve at some of tulums bars. The Buffets were comparable however, the higher end option at Tulum might be something like Piaya and at Akumal a chef sliced roast or meat of some kind. Also things like Avocado/guacamole was at all of the Akumal buffets but not at Tulum when we came for a meal. So small subtle differences but you could see them throughout your stay.
Some of the negative parts of our stay would be in the buffets; the food is so poorly labeled for anyone with dietary requirements aka allergy its very unclear if you are getting what is labeled at any point. For example the sushi was never labeled properly and when asked for clarification they were unable to tell us which item was which. Or when looking at the options before you, there is clearly a dish of plantains however that tag is no where on the listing for that section. There is no allergen warnings labeled either. And even in section where there was several things containing shellfish the labels were not accurate. This is likely a common occurrence down south where english is a second language however, its worth noting if you have concerns in this area.
We also had a few small items go missing from our room, so that was disappointing but not large enough items to worth mentioning to staff.
The location from Cancun is a bit of a trip, it was only supposed to take 1.5 hours but due to traffic and road maintenance it took 3 hours to get there. Upon speaking to other guests that arrived through Tulum airport they said it took no time at all to make it through the airport and they were at the resort in under and hour.
Overall we had a great trip, we would return to this location, and we would recommend it to friends.

Dreams Natura Resort and Spa: Quaint
Cute resort for families. If you don’t love walking, this is perfect. Awesome pools, food and drinks are great. Beach was nice despite the run off. We still managed to swim a bit. Things I didn’t love; lack of chairs in lobby and pools, lack of night time entertainment past 10pm. Hotel being four years old, is looking a little rough. I would rate this a 4*, not a 5*.
