The weather and beach were the best part of the trip. The service and food were jus awful. Flies everywhere in the restaurants, all over the food. Not much variety in the buffet. Lots of boiled potatoes and squash. Staff weren’t very friendly or helpful. Do not recommend!

Melia Cayo Coco: Great place for a relaxing vacation
Spent 10 days in April at this resort and will definitely return next year. The staff are amazing, so helpful and friendly you feel like you’ve known them all your life.
My room was newly renovated and very comfortable. The food was great. The beach beyond beautiful.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Staff amazing but resort is not!
This resort is full of flies, mosquitos and cockroaches. There is no hot water and not enough water pressure to flush toilets. Food is covered in black flies, its is extremely hard to eat and fan away flies at same time. Staff are amazing considering what they have to work with. I would not recommend for the price we paid.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Will not return!
Not sure why TripAdvisor and Sunwing would recommend this resort. $3000 plus for 2 people for a week of misery. No doors in bathroom. Flies covering food and tables at buffet. Could not see tabletop , covered in flies. No hot water in room. No water pressure to flush tiolets. Absolutely disgusting public tiolets! Save your money for elsewhere.

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Great resort!
The hotel was great, clean, well taken care of and lovely staff! The fresh food at the buffets was our favourite! We did the Italian and International a la cartes and they were good, Italian probably the favourite and most popular from talking with others too.
We didn’t watch any of the nightly entertainment as the bugs were crazy but any entertainment that we did see, saxophone and dancers during supper was great!
The beach was beautiful, yes there are days with seaweed…would never [... read more]hold that against the resort on “bad†days. The water was so warm! The beach staff were amazing. They run to you to find you a chair with shade/or not. We went out on the catamaran and that was awesome to see the resort from a different view!
The hotel was at 10% capacity so it was very quiet, I did not mind that whatsoever. Cayo Cruz is quite secluded but again, not a bad thing!
Overall we had a great week and would return to the Valentin again!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great resort in need of updating
Hotel Playa Paraiso is a lovely mid-sized resort a short drive from the Cayo Coco airport. The staff are wonderful, the pool pristine, and the beach one of the best I've visited. The buffet had a large variety of items to choose from to satisfy even the pickiest eater. The a la carte restaurants were just okay, the Cuban being my personal favourite.
Shortages of certain foods and drinks were ongoing. For several days, there was no cola and no wine, and the beef dishes on the a la carte menus w[... read more]ere never available. For some strange reason, there also seemed to be a shortage of spoons, making it difficult to eat yogurt or ice cream with a fork. I think these are problems across the entire island, not just at Playa Paraiso, and did not have a negative effect on us.
The rooms, however, are tired and in need of updating and repairs. We were in Building 3, a great location close to the pool, the beach, and the buffet. On the second day of our one week vacation, I tried to call the front desk to report the toilet not flushing, only to realize the phone didn't work either. The TV and the plug for shavers in the bathroom had not worked from the beginning. We walked to the desk where we were told Building 3 had no cable TV and they were experiencing trouble with the phones. Someone came to fix the toilet which worked for another day, then stopped flushing again. We were offered another room, but declined because we liked the location and resorted to manually flushing the toilet by filling the plastic liner of the garbage can with water from the tub.
The towel exchange booth was closed until the day before we came home so we used the same beach towels all week, hanging them on the balcony to dry every evening. Better lighting on the outdoor walkways would have been helpful when trying to navigate our way back to the room at night. Also, none of the evening activities were posted so we were never sure if there was going to be a show or what time it might be happening. Internet in the room instead of just in the lobby and pool area would have been appreciated.
Overall, the friendliness of the staff and the beauty of our surroundings more than made up for our 'first world' issues and I would not hesitate to return to Playa Paraiso.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Beautiful location
My wife and I recently stayed at this property (April 21-25) as a last minute couples get away. We chose this specific property as it is secluded and fell comfortably within our means. It is an absolutely stunning property, and we thoroughly enjoyed the charm of the older property.
The staff for the most part were outstanding in their face to face customer interaction, given the language barrier and lack of resources. Unfortunately we suspect we were robbed by a member of staff on the last da[... read more]y of our stay. We still have not been able to locate the envelope containing our money, which we had secured in our luggage. We immediately notified on duty staff, who advised us that we had two options. 1 we could fill out a request to have maintenance conduct a key read of our door the following morning. In which case they would notify us via email with the results, when completed. 2 We could cancel our flight and contact the local police to come and investigate. We opted for the 1st choice, and are yet to hear from the property management. As a former member of a hotel security team. I was particularly concerned that a thorough investigation into the incident could not be commenced immediately once reported. Adequate security and security measures seem to be lacking at this resort.
If you are booking here please be aware that prices at this resort are higher than other parts of Cuba. More importantly since covid measures have been lifted, there is no need to convert your currency into Cuban pesos. Canadian is accepted, and American preferred. If you do have Cuban currency it will not go far, so use CAN/US. Do not waste your time going to the market. The beach is by far better.
Despite the heavy effect of rationing, the resort did a wonderful job with food and dining. Drinks were in good supply, however there is limited selection. Again something beyond the resorts ability to influence. We thoroughly loved the architecture and set up of the resort. During your stay you will never be more than a few hundred meters of stunning ocean.

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Nice Resort
Overall, we will give them a 8 out of 10. Weather caused some seaweed on beach but was cleaned up and the beach was great. The only pool we used was the large one with the swim up bar. Using Canadian money including loonies and twoonies was surprisingly great. The help just ask that you change their Canadian coin for bills and this made for easier tipping including the swim up bar with Canadian coins. The Cuban food is what it is. You will not starve but some of the restaurants outside of [... read more]the buffet needed to be looked at. The Italian was great but the Seafood had 18 people leave disappointed with what they call the lobster and crab dish only to find us all at the buffet.
We also went off sight to the Japanese restaurant for an additional $25.00 American and was also disappointed in their presentation and the cooking of their fish.
The servers were great, the entertainment was good 4 of the 5 nights we were there. They need to have better control over their mosquito fogger as it entered the restaurants three times while we were eating and it stinks.
Jesus was very hospitable and he ran the entertainment part of our stay. Other than the number of mosquitoes in April, we would recommend going back to Cuba and stay here.
The elevator was broke down the whole week so watching the people with canes struggle getting up and down the stairs was hard to watch.

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Beautiful resort
This hhotel was beautiful the grounds were impecably kept and the rooms were very large. It was very clean. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and willing to do whatever they could to make your stay a special one.
Sadly the food was a big disappointment.. What you saw for lunch is what you got for dinner. Many times there was no milk. The servers did their best to accommodate us as best as they could.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Good resort… Nasty bugs!
The Good:
- The friendliest staff I ever encountered! Everyone is doing their best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Most staff are proficient in English and/or French. Unlike other resorts, no one is pressing you for tips, and although it’s generally recommended to tip, you’ll get a great service regardless of whether you tip or not. A+ to all hotel staff!
- The beach is amazing. It’s honestly the best part of this hotel. It stretches long enough for a nice walk. There are ple[... read more]nty of beach bed and umbrellas.
- The hotel area is well-maintained with plenty of vegetation.
The So-So:
- The hotel area is sparse, so a bit of walking is required, especially to get to the beach. With that said, it’s no more than 15-20 mins from the lobby, which is the farthest from the beach
- The rooms are shabby and in need of redecorating. Bed sheets have stains and cigarette marks; same goes for the towels.
- Dues to the current situation on Cuba, some things are worse than they used to be pre COVID-19. For example, towels do not get replaced, including the beach towels. Many amenities, such as gym, spa, etc., are closed for service.
- The food is very monotonous. You will NOT starve, but you’ll end up eating the same food every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- On a few occasions the drinks we got were watered.
The Very Bad
- Throughout our entire stay, the buffet was INFESTED with flies and cockroaches. I’m not talking about big Madagascar cockroach, but those nasty roaches. They were crawling everywhere: on walls, on ceiling, on floor – and on food. I think the hotel tried to do something about it but to no avail. Frankly, that place should be shut down entirely until the pest situation is fully under control.
Conclusion: The bugs situation is a real shame. Despite some minor issues, this hotel could have been a great resort for a budget vacation. Unfortunately, not recommending due to sanitary hazard.

Melia Costa Rey: Really Nice Resort
The Pullman is a very nice hotel. This was my second stay. Pools and pool area is great. Lovely beach. Nice Hotel Reception bar area which unfortunately is upstairs and difficult to get to for a number of their many older clients. There is a small elevator but 80% of the time it is out of service. Wonderful poolside entertainers. Pool and Sea side bars are good. Really good Buffet Restaurant. Good service and plenty of food choices. Night time entertainment was average.
My room was a good si[... read more]ze. No water problems. Guaranteed a good shower every time. The Maid was great. Nice Balconey. Not so impressive by the room facilities. For instance there was a fancy radio alarm clock that didn't work. A coffee maker that also didn't work and, it turned out, a phone that also wasn't working.
The grounds were okay but there were free range chickens everywhere which were cute to some but scary to others.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing week
My 20 year old daughter and I spent an amazing week in the Lagoon Room block 2 on the 2nd floor.
Room: clean, comfortable beds, hot showers, no musty smell, beautiful view of lagoon and sunset. Water and other beverages were stocked daily.
Buffet & restaurants:
Plenty of food, eggs at buffet or 24 hour snack bar any way you want it. Lots of options for veggies, pasta, chicken, pork, fish, fruit, dessert.
Drinks: some areas on resort carried frozen options such as pina colada or Daqueri [... read more]while others didn’t but there was no shortage of beverages.
Grounds, Pool, Beach: simply beautiful! Well manicured grounds, clean and cared for, pool was blue and clear and you can’t beat the white powdered sands and crystal blue water in Cayo Coco.
Entertainment and staff: Amazing!! Can’t say enough about how hard they work and how energetic they are to ensure you have an enjoyable vacation.
We will definitely return.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Disappointed
This was the third time I vacationed at this resort …… about 4 years between stays , I find the resort going in the wrong direction …… taking into account post covid , and understanding it’s truly not the fault of the staff , I think they could have done a little better …… some of the staff weren’t very friendly …… understaffing , resulting in long lines ….. sometimes running out of certain foods ….: I’ve never travelled to Cuba for the food , yet this trip was consider[... read more]ably worse …….. upon arrival , I checked approx 20:30 , went to the bar , and told they didn’t have any rum ! …… no rum in Cuba ! …..: hmmm …… yet , 5 steps away , I could purchase all the rum I wanted in the gift shop ….: interesting ? ….. to be fair , rum did arrive , a few days later …… trying to secure a taxi from the resort became an Olympic event …… first time in Cuba ( been there 12 times ) and been chewed badly by bugs …… a lot of people on the resort had the same issue …… I guess the bottom line is , Cuba is hurting ….. which trickles down to tourism ……: on a positive note , and I wish I could remember her name ( I know shame on me ) ….. my transat rep was amazing …… she went above and beyond to help me out …… and of course trip central.com …… very professional , thanks ! ……: I’ve always loved Cuba , but I think my next vacation will be elsewhere …… until Cubas in a better position …… sadly , I would not recommend this resort 🥲

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Beautiful resort!
We had an amazing time at this beautiful resort. The beach is amazing and pools are clean and relaxing. There is more than enough room to be comfortable with lots of chairs available at the beach and pool. There are also beds always available by the pool. There is entertainment each day and night for all ages. This includes yoga, Zumba and evening shows. The staff are super friendly here. They try their best with food. The omelettes in the morning are amazing. I personally preferred the buffet o[... read more]ver the A la carts. Ice cream is super delicious. Bread is delicious too. Rooms are super clean and spacious. The snack bar is open 24hrs for drinks and snacks. They also had musical entertainment that would come around and play traditional songs. If staying here advised to bring lots of snacks/condiments. Also it would be helpful to bring your own beach towel as they give you some but if you lose it you’ll have to pay a fee. This is truly a great resort for all ages. Again lots of activities on the resort and then also close to Moron/Cayo coco for solo exploration or for joining excursions. Also we had a spa day which was amazing! My friend got lashes done and I got a manicure and pedicure. We both loved our service. My nails lasted the rest of the trip and are going strong. Yadira is super friendly and talented! She is really good at hair cuts and braids as well!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Beautiful resort
Hotel was old but well kept with character. Rooms were clean . TV sucked but that Cuba. Beach was beautiful and water great. Staff were outstanding friendly and helpful. Wifi was good but had to go to the desk to resign in all the time, sort of a pain. Shortages in Cuba were felt in the resort, you didn't go hungry or thirsty but they ran out of things from time to time. Overall had a great vacation and even being covered with noseeum bites and the shortages I will go back.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Nice new hotel lacking essentials
The hotel grounds set up nicely, beach is nice, service at beech side great. The rooms are great, but cleanliness not good. We had to ask for fresh bath towels after 3 days of not being changed. Shortage of food. (Coffee, milk, napkins, spoons, no wine at buffet, a verity of liquors, no butter, soda water) . Same food served every day. One chef at station serving a huge lineup of people for omelette, or pasta. No shop on site, closest town more than 1 hour away. Mosquitoes every night. Melia Jardines del Rey: Very Disappointed !!!
Had many trips to Cuba over the years. This has been by far the worst.
1. Paid for selected seats to and from Cuba. Seatbelt on plane not working.
2. Hotel was far from being at full capacity although they stuck us in a dirty room way in the back of resort facing a dirty field.
3. We upgraded to another room. Entrance to room was filthy, would not touch the hand rail on stairs.
4. No hot water for showering 3 days out of 7
5. Same towels 3 days in a row
5. Buffet was [... read more]disgusting!!! Nothing but hundreds of black house flies all over the food, tables and floors.
6. Staff would not make eye contact with you unless you flashed money in front of them.
We travelled South close to 40 times. We are not hard people to please. We will definitely never go back to Cuba !!!
