Iberostar Coral Holguin: Almost perfect

We've just returned from a week's stay at the Holguin Iberostar - Coral level. Overall, the resort and client care we experienced were exceptional... Rooms, pools and common spaces were modern and well kept. All personal services, from room cleaning to bar service, were thorough, friendly and generally efficient. Our only real disappointments were: 1) the beach...not oceanfront. The resort is situated on a cove...so no waves or long stretches of sandy beach. 2) the food...this was the reso [... read more]rt's biggest fault. Fresh fruit was sparse...mostly papaya and unripe watermelon. Many buffet and a la carte staples were missing or in extremely limited supply. If the food situation were to be improved upon...I would be confident to recommend this resort to friends and family.

Playa Pesquero: Quite the Reverse expectations

We challenged our travel consultant based on reviews we read before leaving some reviews spoke about food shortages and various negative aspects of the resort. We had never been to this resort or Holguin however been to Varadero and other Cuba resorts. There were 5 of us including a 5 year old. here are the things that impressed us most: 1. The food was good and no obvious shortages. 4. The beach is the best we have experienced in the Caribbean. Bonus Bonus. 5. I always find myself complaining about something or the other, I had nothing to really complain about except for the paying for WIFI and the birds that frequent the restaurants. There is an official Bird person that claps the birds away. in summary, we will definitely return to this resort as many others we met were on there 11th and 17th times there.

Don Lino Hotel: You get what you pay for

It's a simple hotel nothing fancy, make sure you bring water shoes as the beach is full of coral and you'll not want to go in the water with out the shoes, food was so so, a la carte menu not much better, nonetheless pleasant but not much to do there or around there.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Recent Yearly Stay

We have recently returned from our two week stay at the Paradisus (Feb.4-18) On the whole, things have remained very positive at the Paradisus, (as you will see with my star review below) despite fuel shortages across the country, and strained economic relations. I will mention some worthwhile points. 1. I was happy to see that there were new shows added to the regular lineup, since we are yearly guests. Kudos to the young dancers, musicians, and entertainment team! (Delmis, Dian [... read more]a, Junior, Ali, just to mention a few.) 2. Of course, there is no lack of musical entertainment: small Cuban ensembles, awesome rock guitar, classically trained singers, clarinetist & flautists, the list is endless, and by far my favourite aspect of the holiday. 3. There did appear to be several shortages in the buffet this year, however, it did not stop one from enjoying the assortment of foods available at the grilling stations, pasta bar, or the regular cooked meats and vegetables. The a la cartes were good. By far, my best meal was at the El Patio, where I thoroughly enjoyed the suckling pig with candied sauce! Too many names to mention for the extra care! 4. The only thing I can I say about service at the Paradisus, in terms of room care, reception, buffet, and bar.....wonderful!! Thank you to Yamalet, Delia, Yudith, Pablo, Maria, Yadira, Marice, Danilou, Raymond, Allien, Lenore, Yelenis, Dayle, Osmani, George, Lazarus, Yallie,, Youre’, William to mention some! Everyone goes out of their way regardless of how they feel! Always a smile! 😀 5. Smoking Areas: Greater attention on behalf of management is needed where smoking is concerned. Of course Cuba is great for it’s cigars, however, tables need to be clearly marked as smoking/non-smoking. Too often, patrons were smoking in non-smoking areas. :o( In speaking with many guests over the 2 weeks, the general consensus is that the Adult only Paradisus is a favourite for so many! I look forward to my next visit.:o)

Sol Turquesa Beach: We felt at home.

We spent our two-week vacation at Memorial Holgin. From the moment we arrived, we really felt at home. I'd like to thank Mayeli from Room Service, Zoila, Yudeikis, Zoini, Victor the Buffet Manager, and Carlos the Beach Attendant who was very attentive. I'd also like to give a special thanks to Imad and Luis Miguel Tamayo from Public Relations who always asked if we were having a comfortable stay and were quick to accommodate our every need. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Nice Resort

We had a great time, a little shy on some food but everything else was great. Hot sunny weather and the beer was cold. Everything was very clean and friendly atmosphere. I would recommend this resort to anyone Thanks for everything Robert & Sharon Bolton

Beautiful hotel most of the staff was amazing buffet left a lil to be desired but still enjoyed our stay . We spent a lot of our time at pool. Made some amazing friends both local and from around the world

Playa Pesquero: Nice resort

The grounds were very well kept and everything was easy to find .. the pool and beach had lots of lounge chairs which was very nice to see usually this has been a problem at previous resorts but not this one ..the front desk could have used a few more people when checking in and out as they didn’t seem to move very fast but other then that it was a great trip .

Playa Costa Verde: Amazing Resort indeed

For this was the first time ever for me to venture off on my own to anywhere. The Playa Costa Verde Resort was an amazing place on so many levels. The grounds were well maintained very easy to remember how to get around, the beach was gorgeous. The food was awesome, I even tried squid for the first time lol... To top it all off the staff was top notch they truly are amazing people there and I will definitely be back there. Thank you Yours truly Mark Zavitz

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Loved this Vacation!

We were extremely happy with the Paradisus. The facilities were well kept, the staff friendly, the beach BEAUTIFUL, awesome pool, spa serene... an all around great resort. Such amazing value for money and the weather in Cuba was perfect all week. We didn't meet a single guest who hadn't been there before and planned to return. We would definitely book again!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great place

Staff is always great. They are patient and gracious. The room we had was a little worn but spotless and the towel art amazing. Grounds were neatly trimmed and keep clean of the tourists tossed cups and garbage. The ocean and beach are fantastic in this location. The coral, which is about 150 yards off the beach, is breathtaking and the variety of fish will have you out there everyday. The food was good and flavourful with the Cuban ice cream the crowning touch. Servers were great and helpful [... read more] in teaching us some new Spanish. Another trip here is a certainty.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Nice resort needs to be upgraded. Rooms are getting pretty run down.

Grounds were beautiful Rooms need to be upgraded Broken faucet No hot water TV blurry Air conditioning not working Italian restaurant - needs to cook Italian food - or change the restaurant Seafood restaurant overcooks the lobster tails

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Adequate

Very large resort. Three story buildings with no elevators. Grounds finally mowed after reaching about 15" in height. Bar staff alright but sterile. No atmosphere. Had to have permission from manager to change channel therefore subject to eternal commercial for Iberostar. After 2 hours waiting for flight, 4 hours on flight, an hour waiting for bus to leave and a one hour bus ride, it would have been nice to get a welcome drink. Mini fridge should be re-stocked every day not every second day. All [... read more]-in-all a very nice resort with good food and good buffet and maid staff but lacks feelings.

Playa Pesquero: Mixed feelings overall

Beautiful beach and pools. Rooms are a bit dated and in need of some basic repairs. Public areas were clean and the grounds were well maintained. Food and drinks were disappointing. There was a serious lack of fresh fruits and vegetables. I think this hotel is a reflection of life in Cuba overall. Staff were hard working and friendly. Enjoyed the omelettes at breakfast, the Caribbean restaurant and the crepes flambé. Decent snorkeling off resort. Loved the espressos and cappuccinos.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Our second time

Last year was or first time here and we met many couples who had visited six or more times. One of the things they did say was that over the years things change and things go up and down. So this is our first time back and yes I now have a better appreciation of what they were trying to explain. So once again the staff are excellent and some of them actually remember you from the previous year. Our room was actually better than last year as we were in a corner unit and there was more na [... read more]tural light. The beach had more sand covering a rock area. Overall the food was still very good. A big step up from any other Cuban resort. A la carte restaurants are better then what we've experienced in other place like the Dominican Republic. So for the negatives there were a few. Last year they served Cava. My wife loved have a glass of cava with calamari at the beach restaurant last year. This year it was $27.50 if you wanted to purchase a bottle. Some said this wasn't the hotel but Cuba not receiving supplies from Spain. There were no bananas. They ran out of tonic on the 4th day. Another guest mention that last week they didn't have any gin, they received gin but after 3 days ran out of tonic. No lobster this year either. So you have to make some adjustments. Would we return. Yes. Still the best in Cuba and good value for your money compared to the cost of other destinations. That being said I have a better appreciation of Cuba's ongoing economic struggles.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Resort new but lacking alot of food. Complaining to Chef and Manager didn't help.

I complained while at the resort to one of Managers - Elenanis about the horrible food about was told to speak to the Chef - Domingo about the food to see if he could cook something I would like.. I requested a la carte instead and was told that was not possible. The following day I spoke to the Chef and was told he cooked with whatever that was provided. I complained that there was no pizza, fries, cereals, bananas, potatoes and vogurt ? I was told there was a shortage due the embargo. I don't  [... read more]buy that answer, what a waste of money. Luckily for the guests I had asked for French toast and from then on they provided it daily. I do not recommend this resort unless you are on a diet and wish to lose weight. . Both of us were bitten by No see ums bugs and sand fleas. Please avoid this resort.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Excellent

Excellent , staff wonderful, bartenders at pool bar fantastic. Food great. Room nice. but too many sand flies ,we had a great time but too many bites to deal with. Covered from head to toe with flies bites.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Another pleasant visit

We recently returned from our third visit to PRO in six years, and in most respects this lovely resort still delivers a very satisfactory tropical vacation. The beach and it’s healthy coral reef, although altered frequently by tropical storms, remain the main attraction for us along with the beautiful grounds and low-rise architecture that fits well into its national park setting. Staff also continue to be very friendly and approachable. Unfortunately, what has changed (and not for the bett [... read more]er) over the years is the dining experience that is obviously being effected by the US embargo. So if food is not a priority, we continue to recommend this resort.

Playa Pesquero: Best resort in cuba

Have been to cuba many times over the last 30 years for some reason have not been here before big mistake was the best resort for food entertainment clean safe fun entertainment and thanks to my new country band friends who played from kingston ontario

Nice place clean place, lots of exciting things to do, the food was decent, servise is great and deffanity will be returning in the future would recommend anyone to stay and is definitely worth the money
