Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort: Outstanding resort!
We loved almost everything about this resort! From the variety of food options and entertainment available, to the beautiful room and view! Really appreciated the size of the resort -- we could walk anywhere comfortably. The pool staff were awesome, the entertainment team was great (especially Lucas!) I feel like we really got to know the folks that were providing us service. Only a couple of downsides - 2 machines were broken in the gym (and it was very busy every morning), and I thought the[... read more] gym facility could be cleaner. I also thought the prices in the spa were too high; would not use them again (not worth the $$).

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort
I enjoyed my stay there. The grounds were stunning...the beach was beautiful and well taken care of. The pools were alot of fun and clean. Loved the fact there were adult only pools. Rooms were decent and I LOVED the shower. Staff were very friendly. Amazing gym!! Where do I see improvements? the food (hot food was always cold), some food I wouldn't trust to eat (seemed like it was sitting out for a while and could be spoiled), also rooms should be equipped with free Wifi.
This resort was absolutely amazing. I have traveled to mexico more than 10 times, and this was absolutely one of the best resorts I've been to. The property is perfectly kept, the staff is amazing, food is out of this world, the main pool is incredible, and the beach has an awesome setup! I went with a group of 26 and we all agree on our experience. The resort is huge, but not big enough that we couldn't find each other everyday. We never had a problem saving seats at pool, or eating together at[... read more] large tables. The buffet is honestly one of the best buffet setups I've experienced. They change the menu everyday, keeping the staple items & it was awesome. I usually get sick as I have a sensitive stomach, but I didn't have an upset stomach at all this year (which says a lot). The main pool is where we spent most of the time and its awesome. The bartenders were beyond friendly & make great drinks! There are also bars everywhere so no shortage of drinks! The entertainment staff was incredible, very friendly & put on great shows every night. They could have done more activities during the day at the pool, but we kept ourselves entertained so not a big deal. The only real complaint I have would be the checking in process. Its quite slow & we had some members from our group have issues (some had to wait 2-3 hours for rooms to become available,) but everything was eventually resolved & they were very apologetic for any problems had throughout the week. This is a great resort for all ages, especially families with young children due to the water park, and lots of other areas designated for children! Awesome place & can't wait to go back!

El Dorado Royale: Such a great resort
We had a short stay at El Dorado Royale for our 20th anniversary. It was an exceptional experience. The resort is very well managed - people are very friendly and always say Hola to you whenever and wherever they see you. The resort is beautiful and almost every step of your walk you can snap a great picture. The personal concierge and room services are great - we were hugely surprised for two nights that our room and bed were decorated with rose petals, as well as sparkling wine and chocolate-c[... read more]oated strawberries - very thoughtful and romantic!

TRS Yucatan: Great resort!
Wonderful hotel!
Food: 5* - within the TRS restaurants, lunch at Helios didn't start until 1pm. Don't bother going to the non trs restaurants.
Location: 5* - learn to use the collectivos to get around instead of paying hundreds on tours. Cost of collective was around 2-3$ cad each person, each way. Tulum cost 70 pesos each (5$ cad). Akumal was free on the free beach (don't rent a life jacket and bring your own snorkel) and we visited one cenotes (sink hole) called jardin del edin for 100 [... read more]pesos each (7$ cad).
Bars: 5* - they all had drink menus to help you, at Helios we didn't even have to ask for specific drinks, the bartenders were making us whatever they wanted and it was always great.
Rooms: 4* - even though they were newly renovated, we stayed in the old Riviera section instead of the old TRS section which has the jacuzzis on the balcony that fit 4 people. Instead our room had a jacuzzi tub (very different) which fits 1 person in the middle of the hotel room. The toilet wasn't installed at the correct height which left me (5'5") with my feet not able to touch the floor when using it, many small design issues in the room.
Sports center: 4* - riffle range and archery were amazing. Make sure you book a private hour to not be a part of a group. Guillermo also took us out snorkelling in the hotels bay. The mini golf sucked.
Lobby: 4.5* - looks beautiful. There wasn't a currency exchange desk but we brought pesos from our bank at home and just wanted change and we were able to get large bills from the check in desks. Not tipping/ 20 or 50 pesos bills though. The check in process was very fast and check out was easy. The bracelets are your room key which was very very handy.
Butler's: 4* - it was weird for us to need butlers but they were helpful for reservations. One thing that was seriously lacking at this hotel was information on events and restaurant times. The butlers knew what show was on at 9pm at colonial each night but we missed so many activities like the chocolate bar, the tequila tastings, the crocodile feeding which only happens once a week, and the cooking classes that apparently happened at the infinity pool. We learned about events from bar tenders or by walking around outside of TRS for some things but I was upset that there wasn't a print out of the entire resorts events listed by day and time and location so that we could plan better. Also we accidentally went to the white sands buffet one morning which had screaming kids everywhere because there wasn't information about which TRS restaurants are open at which time of day. The maps should say that capricho is breakfast starting at 7am, and Helios is lunch starting at 1pm and then reserve somewhere for dinner. Our butlers also made reservations for us for bahia brasa but we spent about an hour looking for the restaurant to find out it was actually called o' pavao. The information sharing really needs improvement at this resort.
Pools: 5* - the infinity pool is beautiful but cold. The salt water pool is great but they should add a sign that says don't touch the bottom (let the coral grow). The lifeguards were making up rules as they went like that you couldn't enter the ocean beyond the salt water pool which wasn't on any rule boards. Also they wouldn't let you feed the ocean fish which wasn't a rule.. the spa pool is heated and it's the best. Make sure to go to the spa and the smoothie bar in the spa.
Beach: 4* - very rocky, bring water shoes. They cleaned it every morning. They always had many many chairs available. I liked that they had an area protected by a camera to make sure your hat a stuff would be there when finished in the water.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico: Loved our Vacation
Hotel Xcaret is an absolutely stunning resort with many surprises like water slides that go into the lagoon/river and simple workout equipment in the gardens. The rooms are luxurious, beds comfortable, and the towels absorb the water as soon as they touch your skin. We had fantastic service during our stay, when our fridge was low or we needed something for the room we simply called and our request was fulfilled quickly. We ordered room service a couple of times and the longest we had to wait wa[... read more]s approximately 40 minutes during the busy breakfast time. The All Fun Inclusive was exceptional; the opportunity to experience so many different things without worrying about the additional cost to do them was amazing. We toured Coba, Tulum, then spent a few hours at Xel-ha one day, another day we went to Xeynotes (this was our favourite), we went to Xcaret park 3 times for a couple hours each time (the Mayan Village there is the best place to purchase authentic souvenirs for a reasonable price), we also went to Xenses park which was a really unique experience. The food at the resort restaurants was quite good but I enjoy a range of foods and flavours so not sure how a fussy eater would feel. I would go back in a heartbeat as I can only see this place getting better as time passes and the small issues are all worked out. We booked our room one month after opening and enjoyed this resort two months after it opened; we were able to book at a discounted price.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great Resort with Great Beach and Great Food
Perfect for sandy cocotree-shaded beach. The Maya Beach location is the closest to the best swimmable part of the beach. The food is very good with great variety ( the buffet has a theme that change every day). The speciality restaurants are very good, advance reservations should be taken care of the day of your arrival. Recommended are the seafood Marenostrum and the seakhouse Santa Fe. Nightly entertainements are available at the two theatres with an amazing Circus show and entertaining singi[... read more]ng performances.
All the installations of the 4 hotels within the Bavaro Maya Grand Resort are sharable. Of the 4, the Colonial has the best lobby while the Beach is quieter and closest to the sandy beach.

Crown Paradise Club Cancun: A great stay
My daughter and I both enjoyed the resort. It was
Well kept. There were lots of activities to do during the day and evening. I have a suggestion for the resort. Perhaps changing the music to “top 40†as they constantly played 50’s music which I thought was awful. Either that or they were playing hard rock music in the morning during breakfast! Also maybe time some activities, such as Zumba to earlier in the day as it was at 10pm inside the bar area. Most people are in heels and have had a[... read more] few drinks in them by then and unable to participate. The staff were great, Angel the bartender by the pool was nothing short of amazing. Staff also ensured our safety at all times and were very helpful. I would come back again. :) thanks
Everything about the Platinum Yucatan Princess was exquisite. Much thanks and appreciation to Pedro in Housekeeping, Abner at the Sports Bar, Saul at the Rodeo Grill and the lovely Janet at the Yucatan Buffet. These and so many more go above and beyond in looking after their guests. The resort has lovely grounds and pools. It is spread out quite a bit. The walk from building 1 to the beach is about 10 minutes. The Sports Park is 10 minutes in the other direction. Not a complaint, you'll need [... read more]the exercise after the delicious food! Grand Oasis Palm: Will not go back.
The hotel is located on a very small property. There are only two very small elevators for 10 floors worth of rooms. Never enough, always a line up. No A/C in the elevators. The room we got was very small as well. We had a problem with the water in our room. The shower kept switching from super hot water to super cold water. Nightmare to wash our kids. Dreams Huatulco: Tangolunda, Huatulco is heaven.
The hotel is a short 20 minute ride from the airport. It is clean, comfortable and well run with friendly staff. Rooms are spacious and kept clean by their courteous staff. Food is excellent starting with the ocean side buffet. The 5 specialty restaurants do not require reservations...first come, first served. There are 6 pools situated around the property. The ocean is just steps away from the large infinity pool. The property has many shady spots for those wishing to escape the sun. Every day [... read more]was sunny and hot.
The only complaint was that the hotel does not adhere to requests made during the initial reservation process. Requested highest floor with partial ocean view (paid upgrade), received second floor, ocean mostly obscured. Requested king size bed, received two double beds. Requested banner on door acknowledging return guest, not provided, despite many such banners being displayed on room doors. Hotel claims the request was never received.

Very small resort, rooms are basic and small. Beds were smaller than I was expecting so they brought a 2nd bed for the room. The main floor rooms had a few encounters of critters but 2nd floor people were fine. The food was exquisite but slow to arrive. Staff were amazing, funny, and ready to help.

Las Palmas by the Sea: Absolutely great, especially the staff!
Just got back yesterday and I can't say enough good things about our 10 days at Las Palmas by the Sea. We always found something good in the buffet and a place to rest our weary bones. We were looking for 10 days of R&R and Las Palmas did NOT let us down.
Many thanks to ALL of the staff for making our stay enjoyable. Too many names to mention but a special thank you to Fransisco who was manning the poolside massage area and went way out of his way for us one day. Fransisco I hope I am not missp[... read more]elling your name. David, Guadilupe, Oscar, Edgar, Elizabeth, Yolanda... as I say too many to mention individually. Perhaps next time I should take notes because each and every one of them deserves recognition for how hard they work and how well they do!
We only get a winter vacation every two or three years so I can't say we are seasoned travelers BUT we HAVE been to three countries and four resorts and, given the opportunity we would not hesitate to go back to Las Palmas by the Sea.

Grand Oasis Sens: Beautiful destination!
The resort was as advertised so that meant few surprises if any that I would consider negative.
We had an ongoing issue with the shower not working and had the maintenance crew attend to the issue on two separate occasion. In the end it was functional but never worked properly.
The room was sold as a King size bedroom but in reality they simply put two separate double beds together and called it a king size bed. Doesn't really cut it if you're tall because not being a true king size bed yo[... read more]ur feet hang off the end of the bed.
A couple of issues with regards to lights in the room. The track light inside, over the patio door flickered when turned on and felt like a cheap disco light, we left it off. The main concern was one of the outside wall mounted patio lights kept flickering and when I looked at it had been hot wired together and the copper wires were exposed, a definite safety issue.
Other than that the room was awesome. Beautiful view and the large deck with private pool was very much a bonus!
The restaurants were very interesting, much to our delight. I would caution folks to ask detailed questions prior to booking an evening at the Black Hole Restaurant. We found the methodology of how the seat you a bit awkward and thru us off the experience completely.
On the other hand we cannot recommend highly enough to defiantly book an evening at the Benazuza Restaurant. This is a MUST if you are in any way a "foody". Loved it!!
Over-all I (we) feel comfortable in highly recommending this resort. Further more we booked the SIAN KA´AN ROOM package and it was absolutely worth the extra!!!
With regards to the "concerns mentioned earlier I will have to state that while this resort is a few years old, it is graceful and overall beautifully maintained.
Go, enjoy and be your own critic. We would certainly consider a return visit.
