Barcelo Maya Caribe: One of the best we ever been so far

First of all I want to make this clear that we been travelling for a number of years with our boys who are 17 and 15 now and this resort we can say that is definitely one of the best so far. This resort was "Perfect for our family". A couple of downfall that I thing they should maybe reconsider and after speaking to several people on the resort we mostly all felt the same. Here is what I think they could easily modify or change and this would make this resort even more awesome. -We  [... read more]are in 2020 and we all know that internet is a big part of our lives, I don't understand why we still need to pay for internet. I know that there was free WIFI from 10 to 5 at the mall however what an inconvenience when you are sitting at the beach and you know you have to get dress to go up do just do your daily check up. -The need to have a parent to sign off to have access to basketball, ping pong, tennis racket etc. I understands that they need some kind of control however maybe the age of this could be reviewed. Every time they wanted to play a sport we had to walk over with them to sign off. - No enough bar close to the beach. We had brought a little cooler and we would fill it up with ice and put the beer we had in our rooms in it so for us that worked but I know some people they don't drink beer so I know that was another downfall of this resort. Those are just a couples of things that we feel if it would change this would honestly would push this resort another notched. The beach is one of the most beautiful I've seen so far in Mexico. One of our best experience was swimming with turtle at the Palace Beach. WOW what a great experience that was and I honestly can say this was one of the biggest highlight of our trip. We would definitely recommend this resort and I've already did recommended this to a few of our friends and they are actually looking to book this resort for next year. Would we go back just my husband and I no because it's very kids oriented and we prefer smaller resort. However I would definitely go again if my kids

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Amazing Resort ! 6 out of 5 Stars !

Loved absolutely everything about this resort - the food, the cleanliness of the resort, but most importantly the people. Best service all around at this resort. This has been our 2nd time to this resort in as many years and we have found our home away from home.

Palma Real: Good resort for the price

Arrived in late and had no problems with getting the room I had requested.The resort has had some updates since last year but could still have more.The room service was very good clean towels every day and two great maids Yuni and Margarita. Apron arrival Felix was there to take our luggage to our room.In the dining room Yandry always had a smile and a table reserved.The second knight of our stay the resort had a special dinner for repeat guests and a bottle of Cuban rum sent to the room.The st [... read more]ay for the week we were there was very relaxing.

Barcelo Solymar: Great experience first time to Cuba

One thing is for sure.. book the bungalow do not stay in the building! Absolute mess and moldy musty smell. Couldnt breath. Finally I asked to change rooms after 3 days. At first it wasnt too bad but overtime it felt like it was getting worse so I upgraded. Work with the front desk for a deal to the bungalow. It is definitely worth it! Food is meh A la cart seafood was my best meal all week. Book it. If you want a real nice meal go into Varedero or a hidden Gem in Santa Maria called La Fiesta Del Carbon jst a little outside Varedero. Worth it trust me. $10 cab to get there. This place I would reccomend for 20-40. Def a party spot as it is about a 5 min walk to the clubs in town. But I think it lacked women. Lol, too many dudes when I went but I think people jst reccomend this resort because of the young crowd so all guys go there and the ratio from men to woman is very dominant to the men side in my opinion during the time I went. Family's dont bother trust me, not so good for kids as it can be noisy during all times. Overall great experience, the beach of course is beauty and the whole stay at one play at 2 resorts was cool but I would prob not return to this resort only because I never go back to a resort I've already been to. If anything maybe I go back with friends only because of the staff. Your call dont overthink it but definitely get the bungalow!

Barcelo Solymar: Love this place

We have stayed at the Barcelo Solymer 3 times now and love it, hotel is a bit dated, but they continue to do upgrades. the staff is amazing. anytime we had any issues they were dealt with immediately. we will be going back again

Occidental Tucancun: Great location with beautiful views!

Great staff, rooms was spacious with an amazing view. Food was good, the Italian restaurant was very good. Location is great, we felt safe to walk down the street to both of the malls. Beach was breath taking- loved sitting out there, there were alway chairs at the beach- even when the chairs around the pools were all occupied. We did the excursion to Cobo and Talum, with the visit to the Myan village and cenote, which was well worth the money. Only complaint I had was the time we travelle [... read more]d was two weeks before March break and the teens had begun to travel, which made the halls at night a little loud. Would stay again, just maybe not this time of year.

Palma Real: great resort

the food was amazing alot better then sun beach the grounds were ok needed a bit work on the pool grounds but was ok other then are room door not locking due to the door was kicked in before and the safety bar in tub was not safe and electricity was bad and oh wait no light bulbs lol had a great time to come home to isolation id go back again

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Wow! Beautiful Hotel and gorgeous location.

The Barcelo Riviera Maya was stunning! Modern, extremely clean and very spacious. It has only been opened a few months and it is well on it’s way of getting everything just right. Definitely upgrade to the Oceanfront Rooms. However unless you plan to party late in to the hours request a room that is further away from the Music Bar and Front Lobby. Although it was almost soundproof when we closed the sliding door the rhythm of the music seemed to pound in the room a bit. We couldn’t sit out o [... read more]n our balcony and have a conversation. The Breakfast and Lunch Buffets were amazing offering anything you can imagine presented beautifully and was delicious! Staff was very attentive but at times were not quick with simple requests like tea when the self serve area was closed. There were 4 a la carte Restaurants for dinner dining, French, Mexican, Italian and Japanese. In order to not repeat we ventured to the Barcelo Restaurants in the 5 other Hotels and found the Barcelo Palace Brassiere Restaurant to be nice but noisy with a lot of young children. Did not like any of the others. The drinks served at the bars were great; you had several brand choices of each liquor. Disappointing was the wine selection with only one very poor quality Spanish wine being offered. Additional selections were available at a cost of approximately $100.US per bottle, at an all inclusive? Three times we were told that a complimentary bottle of wine was going to be sent to our room for various inconvenience situations we encountered and never did they show up. The drive from the Airport was long and some complimentary refreshments should have been served on the ride to the Hotel. In fact the same should have applied on the plane. All inclusive should be just that!! It is a Conference Hotel so it does lack that true tropical feel but once you see the ocean and the palm tree setting of the beach you know you are in Paradise!

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Great resort!

Resort was immaculate and not overly busy while we were there. There was no fighting for chairs either at the pool or beach. Great staff. Food was fantastic! Could have used some more upbeat music at the Music Bar earlier than 3:00pm but other than that no complaints!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great Resort

It exceeded our expectations. Lots of things to do. A variety of great spots to eat, a 24 hour sports bar. The beach and pools had great variety. Could swim in the ocean even on the windy days with reef as protection. We would be great for those with kids with the water park. We would definitely recommend it!

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: The Best All Inclusive!

Loved the beach, food ,service and especially the staff... Had a minor issue in our room that was taken care of promptly and even checked with us the next day to make sure all was okay. Had a Surprise Birthday Banner and cake in our room upon arrival that was arranged by a friend in our group.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Well Maintained Resort

This Is a very good resort to stay at, it's always being cleaned/tidy, staff are helpful and kind, food was very good, and there is a lot to do if you don't want to just relax at the clear blue beach or 4 pools.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Very good resort

This was our second time staying at this resort and still great with a few small problems which were looked after right away. The food was still very good with a large selection every day. The grounds were immaculate.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Great Location

The food was excellent at the buffet and the a-la-cartes. Waiter Philipe at the buffet was very attentive. Room was very clean and our mini bar was restocked daily with beer bottled water, chocolate bars and peanuts.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Second time visiting, just as we remembered.....AWESOME!

It was exactly if not better than we remembered from our trip in December 2017. This resort has to have the best staff of any that we have visited. The food is great, rooms were fabulous (especially the beds) and drinks plentiful. The staff is outstanding in every area that you visit. The ones in the restaurant are attentive, the activity staff friendly and the bar staff there when you need them. The airport transfer is about 15 minutes away...another selling point. Beautiful golf course attached which is challenging to most. Will we go back...… definitely!

Allegro Cozumel: Won’t go back

This trip was exactly what we needed for my husband, myself and our newest addition, our 2 month old daughter. We loved the beach, sun and diving. We will however not be back ever again as the food was atrocious. We didn’t starve or get sick, but it really was pretty bad. The only thing to eat at lunch was (cold) burgers and wedges/fries. Salad was pretty good. That’s it! The other schlopp was awful. Coffee machine constantly broken. And far far too many people needing to eat In one place. T [... read more]he drinks however were fantastic. We arrived at the resort around 11 am big no rooms would be ready until 3! None, zero. There is no where else in the resort with AC. So our 2 month old started overheating by 1pm. No room available. They had a small office space they allowed us to sit in that had ac. Finally at 3 the front staff allowed us to be the first to recieve our room. Still had to wait an hour for the crib to be delivered and finally our baby could lie down for a nap at 4pm (we left our house at 1am for the flight). Air canada was disappointing, on the way home they only came around with drinks during times of turbulence, and refused to serve hot drinks because of it. Then we arrived in Canada and did not get any information on where to pick up our stroller and car seat. We found an air canada rep who told us to take an elevator up and wait. We did. Someone (luckily) noticed our stroller and other people’s walkers on the empty elevator, the doors opened with our expensive equipment but no air canada staff to unload!!! Horrible. No one let us know anything about coronavirus recommendations. So we of course stopped to eat/use the bathroom on the way home not knowing the government had asked us to self quarantine until late that night! Yikes.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Very Busy Resort

We were one of the first vacationers in 1999 when the first Barcelo opened on the Mayan Riviera, so we thought we would revisit, we usually vacation in Puerto Vallarta. It is now 6 resorts in a row and is very busy! Transport from the airport took approximately an hour. Check-in was fast and front desk employees were very helpful and always courteous. I actually had to go to the front desk and ask for it to be cleaned, we weren't impressed with that. We ran out of shower gel and it was not filled. We booked our a la cartes on arrival and at the same desk had our internet connection established, there is a cost for that, again, not impressed. The first 3 nights we ate supper at the A La Cartes and found them not to be what we like so the rest of our stay we ate at the buffet. There was always lots of food with a good selection, some nights better than others. I had one night that I was sick to my stomach, I assumed it was food poisoning because after my stomach was emptied I felt fine and got up the next day feeling O.K.You definitely will not go hungry, just be careful of what you eat. The only thing we did not like was that the buffet was very busy, we quickly learned for all meals to go early to beat the crowd. We spent most of our days on the beach, most days it was very windy, some days with sand blowing in our faces. The water was lovely and warm to swim in, you just have to watch where you enter as there are a lot of rocks. There were always loungers to be found there, the pools were a different matter, loungers were being saved the night before with people's towels and very crowded so we avoided them. There is a lot of things to do if you don't like staying on the beach like us. They have a bowling alley, small skating rink, mini-golf, go-carts, zip-lining, casino, shopping, and many off-resort excursions. If you like to be active on your holiday or have children you will really enjoy this resort. We found being an older couple that it was way too busy for us. With that being said we still had a good holiday.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Fine resort

Fourth time enjoying the Barcelo Palace.Well maintained, and clean. Rooms are very nice especially building 5 & 6.Never a problem finding a private spot even though it is a very large complex.Pete Dye Golf Course is well maintained and fun to play.Good variety of holes. Staff is friendly and hard working.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great resort

The Barcelo resort complex is very large,but as it is spread along the beach,(it takes about 20 minutes to walk along the beach from one side to the other) there is no feeling of crowding,and never a problem of finding a lounge. The rooms,public areas,grounds, pools,and amenities are very clean and very well maintained.Staff are friendly and helpful. Barcelo Maya Palace: Awesome vacation

Hotel was great, lots to do, beautiful pools and great beaches. The food was amazing and the service was great. The rooms are fine - nice and clean - but not on a par with the rest of the resort. Staff were great. Most amenities were included, there weren’t a huge number of things you had to pay out of pocket for.
