Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great resort

Beautiful hotel and property. Plenty of food choices with food well prepared and presented. I would skip the special Italian restaurant that has a limited menu. The pool and beach area is large with plenty of shade. Front desk seemed to be minimally staffed and there was some difficulty with communication in English. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Well worth it to pay extra cost of an ocean view room.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing Staff

Small resort Arrive as guests and leave as family! Osvaldo and Andrea- Lobby bar - awesome people!!! Always greeted us with a smile every day! Felix and breakfast n lunch waiters- so welcoming !! Papa John- always a treat to talk to everyday- great photographer! Roberto #44- on the beach- very honest and will fund you anything you need or want! Very clean resort, everything is at arms reach!!! Will definitely return!!!!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: My room was great even up grade

My first stay in the passed I would go here every time my room was never cleaned .I cleaned the room the whole week I requested towels every day my whole family stay togather .love the pools but I'd say they only thing was pools the food was horrible, every time I ate it was late wen I arrived no food all day was not happy .The food was so shitty no one at most dinner or lunch I was so sick of fries ,hambers ,hotdogs garbage food seriuly waste of my money

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing resort

The staff was amazing and all the accommodations where amazing. Would book again in a heart beat. The rooms where great and the view where amazing. The breakfast was small but the rest of the meals where amazing

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing resort.

Grounds, pool. sports bar, buffet, room, special dinning all amazing. The staff were always very friendly and obliging. Ramon went out of his way to accommodate all our requests. The trip to Puerto Plata was fun.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Ok place

Nice small resort Ok pool though no bartender at pool bar, and the activities posted did not happen. The room was musty with a broken patio door Melady the housekeeper was awesome, the only one we actually got to know over the week.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Could do better!

Check in was fast, but we were not given the room we booked - after a 2 hour delay our room was ready. Hotel was nearly empty so no idea why the wait. Restaurant by the beach we found to be the best, the food in the buffet was nearly always cold. Beach is very clean - loads of loungers but not too many with umbrellas and those loungers always had towels on them but no people! The staff though are fantastic - at least most of them and it was so sad to see some 'guests' being very rude to them. I think if I was to return, I would upgrade to a better package. I guess the issue is that we were spoiled by the Mexico resorts - Playa Dorada is showing its age!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Don’t stay here

Save your money and book elsewhere! To make a long story short here are just a few highlights… took us over two hours to check in our keys didn’t work which took another half an hour to get into our room finally at 1:30am. The next morning we had absolutely no running water, our toilet didn’t work. They offered a new downgraded room or pay an extra $250 to upgrade or stay in our room and hopefully everything gets fixed. The cleaning of the rooms was just making the beds and replacing the bathroom towels. Our floors got mopped once during the week. Not one day did we get the beach towels we were supposed to nor was our fridge restocked with water like it was supposed to be when we called the front desk as well as guest services they were rude and said they’d be sent to our room nothing ever came even though we called everyday. They try to rope you into a timeshare every time you turn around and won’t leave you alone no matter how many times you say no thank you I’m not interested. The beach was not raked and full of seaweed. I can go on and on but unfortunately I don’t have enough space. This is not a 4 star resort by far!

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Had a Blast

What I liked was the rooms were clean, well kept and nice and cool from the moment you walk in. I did have a safe problem was it was resolved within 10 minutes. The fridge was restocked daily and never was there a room problem. Having a garden room gave peace and quiet especially in the evenings when the entertainment was going on. I wasn [... read more]t impressd with the beach area and especially with the hecklers bugging you nonstop even after you ask them to leave and the games area for playing horseshoes or bocce ball was non existant becuase you couldnt find anyone to get the stuff, I never ate at the beach but most days it was always closed. not much was open when you advertise 24hr food and their isnt its kinda frustrating. the stores expensive with no resort discounts. food was ok but could have been cooked alot more than it was. the entertainment was great. the pool area bar was barely ever open except for coffee so that didnt make any sense to me...but overall just complaining little things that didnt really matter...for the most part it was great but if you ask me honestly its a 3.5 star at best

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Love it!!!!

First time at this resort and would go back for sure. The food was really good, nice big pool but the only way to access pool bar is being inside the pool. Entertainment staff "Richi" was so great! He was always coming by to make sure we were having a great time and went out of his way for out group of 22 to get a family photo done.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Not a 5 star

Nice room, beach and pool area. Service however, was non-existent. Of the three dining restaurants, the Italian by far was the worst. We were lucky to befriend two wonderful staff, Christopher and Juan, who made our stay great! The poolside Signature Snack Bar in our opinion had the best food and service.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing resort

The Gran Vantana was and great resort. I had the premium package which gave me access to the private section and the vintage club. Both had amazing service. We also had 3 a la cartes the Ocean grill was unbelievable, great taste, great flavors and fantastic service. The other two were good but the ocean was my favorite. The buffet was unbelievable in selection. There was always something you can find to eat even for fussy eaters. The only issue I found was that a message was left at the front desk about our departure and they didn't inform us of the change.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Satisfied Sun Seekers

Sunscape grounds are beautifully maintained & very close to the beach. Sun was hot, pools were cool and drinks were cold! Service was beyond our expectations. Although the buildings could use some TLC, the cleanliness was outstanding. The entertainment was not out taste, but the Beach Party was fantastic.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Wonderful Resort

They entertainment and excursions were wonderful. Food was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Lots to do for people of all ages. Only issue we observed was the showers (temperature and pressure) but other than that it was perfect

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Very nice resort

Very clean. Friendly staff. Good Food. The only issue was the inability to book an a la carte dinner. Always booked up early in the morning and selection was limited. Otherwise a very nice, clean resort.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great Stay

This is not a 5 star resort by any means but is very Clean, well kept and the staff is totally amazing. Select side is nice and small and has everything you could want. Beach is smaller but very nice to swim in. Food is average resort food but many nice restaurants just off resort that are to die for. Sosua is a very safe place to go explore. Best part was no vendors bugging you all the time. The staff makes this resort!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Great hotel for the money

The hotel was pretty decent. The rooms were a little outdated but we didn’t care because we were just in there to sleep and change. So many amazing pools to choose from. It’s nice that there are a lot of adult only pools to choose from as well. The entertainment staff are super friendly. There were games a few times a day and most could also be played by kids. There were shows every night and they were very entertaining. The people LOVED the baby we had with us! They would offer to hold h [... read more]im and play with him so we could all participate in games. Very kid friendly atmosphere! There’s a casino on site which also has complementary nachos and popcorn (which my daughter would as us to get her because they were so good!) The beach was nice, but so wavy we couldn’t really go out. Obviously not the hotels fault, but still a bummer. Lots of food selections for everyone. There were even a ton of options for us to give to our 7.5 month old who is just starting on solids! I would happily book at this hotel again.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great place to celebrate

The BeLive collections Marien in Puerto Plata in my opinion was a great pick for my daughter and myself to relax and celebrate her completion of her university degree this April. The staff were kind and very friendly. The resort is a bit on the smaller side so walking everywhere was quick and easy. It's even wheelchair assessible which is a great feature The Beach's were fairly clean of seaweed. Saw the workers early every am cleaning the seaweed that washed ashore over night away. The securit [... read more]y on the beach kept the vendors from bothering the guests whole they were relaxing . The vendors were only allowed along the waters edge. The location of Puerto Plata is situated on the north eastern aspect of the island so is directly touched by the Atlantic Ocean and because of that the waves are very active and stir up the sand constantly. This made snorkeling from beach almost impossible due to limited visibility. The sand was very fine and soft in most places. There are excursions to go snorkeling but we did not partake on any. I was surprised that even though there was floating seaweed in water near the shore there were very little shell debris or jellyfish floating on our trip. We were in the ocean every day. Water was awesome. There are no umbrellas on the beach but the nearby trees provide ample shade for all. There were always lounge chairs available at the pool and on the beach. At the pool there are umbrella like structures to provide shade but often they were taken fairly early in am on weekend. On week days usually always was able to find shade loungers at the pool. The pool was very clean and well maintained. They even provide small garbage bins around outside perimeter of pool for patrons to dispose of garbage so they aren't littering on the property. Unfortunately some of the bushes would have vomit smell due to guests over indulging and sharing with bushes later at night. This is not the fault of the resort and it should not be penalized for this. The workers were always cleaning and power washing the walkways. On the weekends the local Islanders visit and fill the resort. They were all very respectful and fun to be around. The food was tasty and even though not a great variety we were always satisfied. The a la carte restaurants alternate being open through the week and all 3 were open on the weekend. You need to book the a la carte each am for that night and need to be at the booking desk prior to 9 which was when the worker would arrive. We found this strange as other resorts you would book all at beginning of vacation. We were only able to try one as we often slept in and were too late to book. The food was good. And service great. Our room was in one of the older nonrenovated buildings but suited us fine. The maids kept it tidy daily and all but one day replaced towels. One day they took towels but because we were napping when they came back with new we never had towels for that day until next day. We brought small roll of rope so we could hang out wet clothing on the balcony to dry a bit over night. Most am the clothing and towels were dry. We exchanged our towels daily with no problem. The resort and island no longer require usage of masks everywhere providing all are vacinatef. The workers still all wore masks. But rarely saw a guest wear one. Most people did socially distant from others not in their party and there are reminders and taped markers on floors for people to do so when cueing for bars or buffet. There is hand sanitizer bottles situated all over the resort and signs to remind guests to frequently clean their hands. All in all we did enjoy visiting this resort. There are a couple changes that would make it great. Having a coffee bar for special coffees all throughout the day in lobby or on site . I did read somewhere on another's review that there was but when I asked a worker she said there wasn't. I do plan to return here in the future just not sure when.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great Time

We recently stayed at the Senator (Apr 18-23). Overall we had an amazing time. Weather was great. Resort itself was very clean and well maintained. Best water pressure and hot water of any resort we have stayed in the past. Food was good. Not a large variety buy we made it work. The only complaint is that there was not enough seating at night in the lounge area however you can walk over

The hotel was very clean, bathrooms, rest areas, beach area etc. The staff was very nice and engaging. The only issue we had was they allowed the locals to come on to the property for Easter weekend. They took over the place and they were very rude. I thought about it, and realized that goes on everywhere. I have never been to a hotel where they allowed the local people in.
