Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Good choice.

Found the Hotel and Pool areas to be clean and maintained maintained. The Staff pleasantly provided good service. **********************************************************************************************************************************

Moon Palace Cancun: Beautiful resort.

Service was not the greatest pools where not heated. Too much walking for seniors. Mix up in rooms and we where given wrong room. Guest service was very difficult to deal. Band outside our resort playing out loud music and when we complained they said we will move you to another room.

Grand Sirenis Matlali Hills: Beautiful, quiet, secluded resort

Such a pretty setting for this resort, nestled in a valley on the slope of a mountain above La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. The beach club has a restaurant for anyone doing the all-inclusive. There are plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The view from your chair is awesome. The swimming was chilly in January but there were no jellyfish and the wave action wasn't too scary. We went in everyday. Forget about snorkelling at this location...the water isn't clear enough and there isn't an abundance of fish  [... read more]to view. The free shuttle runs from the resort to the beach numerous times throughout the day, beginning at 10:00am. We didn't mind the 10 min. ride back and forth...we never tried to walk it. The food was excellent in the specialty restaurants and only so-so at the buffets at dinner. We ate at the beach club everyday so we don't know what lunch was like at the resort. Breakfasts were very good. Housekeeping was a bit of an issue for our room and our friend's room. They didn't come until 5:00pm (ish), so that was so inconvenient for getting ready for dinner or just for relaxing after a day at the beach. Also, they have this funny habit of snatching every towel, hand towel, bath mat they can find in your room and not having enough to replace them, so on 2 days we were left with 1 towel for the two of us!! And they didn't bother to come later to replace them. And we had hung up our towers for re-using and they still didn't get the message. I tried hiding them, but they found them and took those too! We heard this same story from other guests as well. Just a glitch that needs attention. All in all, very nice resort...mostly Canadian and British guests. Hardly an American to be found. Very few kids. Hiking around the resort, because it is on a hillside, was not problematic. We needed the exercise after all that eating and lounging around. But there was almost always a shuttle available if we wanted. Puerto Vallarta is about a 40 minute bus ride down the highway, for 10 pesos. Lots of people took this as a day trip.

Oh Cancun The Urban Oasis: Okay Hotel, friendly staff

The hotel is clean and the rooms are very nice. However it is right on a busy street and it can get tricky to cross the road and/or have a lot of traffik noise at any time of day/night if you end up with a room facbing that busy highway. There was confusion with our booking ( got a regular room instead of the suites we paid for in the first couple nights). there isnt much to do on the property and it was mostly empty the week we were there (Jan13-19). Riu Dunamar: Great Resort

We just spent a week at the new Riu Dunamar in Cancun. Even though the weather was not the best, the resort was great. We had a seamless check in with Edgar at the front desk and an upgrade to a room with a pool/ocean view along with a king size bed. The room was beautiful, fresh and clean. We loved the bright décor. The room had everything we could need along with lots of hangers in the closet. We found the buffet had a ton of selection and everything was clean and well presented. Th [... read more]ere were 4 other restaurants available that worked on a first come first serve basis, so no reservations. This is one recommendation we would have. If you were not in line at 5:30 or so then you may not get in that evening or it would be a late dinner time. Sadly, we did not get to try the Steakhouse purely because we didn't know where it was located and stupidly didn't ask. the other 3 restaurants were good but we really enjoyed The Bamboo. The sushi and tempura were delicious. Our one criticism of all of the restaurants was the noise factor. It was very loud in each. they all have high ceilings which contributes but it was overly noisy making it uncomfortable and less romantic/less ambiance. The pools, bars, beach were all fantastic. Fresh towels and no problem finding a lounge chair. The water slides were great as well. Night time and daytime activities were really great. You had options and after the shows in the evening there was a band so you could dance and then the disco opened for 11 if you wanted to continue to dance. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. We did not encounter any issues and felt very taken care of and safe. This resort is a good 20 minutes outside the downtown core of Cancun so you can't just easily walk in to town for browsing/shopping. You have to take a taxi at $30 each way. We thought there would be a shuttle from the hotel but I guess they had some resistance from the taxi drivers. We enjoyed the popcorn and peanuts during happy hour or while just having a drink before dinner. If you want to go and use the hot tub and steam room within the spa, they are free but you must reserve a time. We would absolutely recommend this resort and would return ourselves. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Las Palmas by the Sea: Wonderful experience

This hotel was excellent. It was clean, lively and beautiful. The food was good and choices were amazing. The pools and grounds were clean, well kept and neat. Our room and bed was very comfortable. The maids, bartenders, porters and other hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. I found the adult pool relaxing and very warm. My husband preferred the kids pool and we spend our time between the two. There was always a place to sit in the shade. I found the kids pool music and constant [... read more] screaming by the game coordinator too loud and the music not to many peoples taste. Indeed the only time people seemed to come alive was the one hour of old rock and roll. Why do young people in their 20's assume that all people want to hear their music? The prizes at Bingo were lame and we stopped playing after the first day. This is a very small criticism because overall we had an excellent time. We did not indulge in much of your entertainment as we preferred to go into town, to eat out and listen to Mariachi music. When we returned, there were many drunk people who were still being given drinks and were rather obnoxious. Perhaps the bartender could have refused to serve the drunks. (That's what they do in Canada). We appreciated the attention and help from Alehandro and Martin and the maids. Martin directed us to see a Mariachi band that was outstanding and comprised of his family members. It is worthwhile for Las Palmas to look into hiring them on a full-time basis. We will be returning again next year, though we would like a room with a window that opens, perhaps a balcony. Thanks.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Very nice resort

We were at this hotel for 2 weeks starting January 6th 2018. Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Nice and clean resort

Very nice little resort. Loved the jungle feel. Clean and comfortable room. Buffets are very good and change theme every night. A la carte restaurants are very good too (oriental is the best). The staff is very polite and I always had good service at bars or restaurants. The resort is well maintained. Pool is nice but would like to be heated. The only bad part of the resort is the beach. You can't walk directly into the water because the beach is very rocky. There's a pier to descend into the wa [... read more]ter that have a lot of fish staying nearby so it's fun for snorkeling. Wifi all around the resort. The best part of the resort is the star friends. They do games in the day and shows at night. The fire show and rock show were amazing! They are very dedicated to make your stay enjoyable. I recommend taking a taxi to go shopping downtown and the tequila tour is very fun too. I enjoyed my stay very much.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Best Resort I've been to!!!!!

Everything was perfect, from the option plus flight to the hotel. Our room was great with a nice view, cleaned and restocked every day, the pools and the beach were amazing and beautiful. The food and service was excellent. We had the time of our lives and would love to go back :)

Moon Palace Cancun: Wonderful Resort

Just returned from a 7 days stay at Moon Palace, Nizuc (January 15th-22nd) Really loved the resort, service is great, staff very polite and courteous. Food was amazing, the best of all the all inclusive resorts that I have being. I spoke with one of the managers at the buffet restaurant and she made sure the chef would prepare food for my 6 month old baby The resort is massive, lots of walking, they have buses and golf carts but still had to walk quite a bit. The pools are nice and clean b [... read more]ut the beach not the best, lots of seaweed. The Grand was my favourite section, I would definitely return and stay there. Heated pool, huge water park, bigger, newer and nicer rooms. More restaurant options and apparently better food (didn’t know it could get better) but didn’t see the ice cream cart around the pool area like I saw in the Nizuc and Sunrise The Nizuc was smaller and more fun, with great activities around the pool and beach. Sunrise is where the kids playroom is nicer and bigger and they also have a kids pool/splash pad We didn’t get bored not even in a rainy day. I was prepared to be bombarded by the time share people, after reading some reviews. It was not bad at all they offered a breakfast at the Grand so you get to go there without paying for the day pass, since I knew it was a “trap” I just declined and had 2 little kids with me so wasn’t difficult, they never asked or offered anything again Check in was fast, empty room, they offered some snacks and drinks which where great. I guess I arrived at a good time. Check out was long and busy but the staff was making sure to get you trough a bit faster. I recommend the resort and would go back

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Loved It!

Room was beautiful, newly renovated and so clean ! Service at this hotel is like none other . Each and every staff was a pleasure to deal with and went out of their way to accommodate. Food was good , lots of choices at buffet . Italian restaurant was best! Beach was good but a bit rocky . Location location location is what we loved , minutes from any and everything you want in Playa. Always felt safe .

Dreams Huatulco: Love this resort! We'll be back.

Beautiful beach, good food, clean facilities, and excellent service. Weather was fabulous every day. Super quiet resort that's good for older adults and families. Would be boring for party crowd. The staff are super accommodating. Only complaint was lack of shaded chairs at pool and beach. Too hot for full sun and we love heat. People were getting up at 6 am to save chairs and then never show up. We really enjoyed our vacay and wished we were there longer.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Great resort

Had a wonderful stay at the hideaway royalton riviera cancun. Great service .Awesome room . Great food . A special thanks to Raul our beach waiter. Enjoyed the adult only pool area and beach. The choice of restaurants were great.

Dreams Sands Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing Stay!

We traveled in a group of 4 and had an incredible time. All the amenities were as advertised and our stay was unforgettable. The staff was friendly and attentive. The beach is beautiful and CLEAN. Food was not only good but varied which meant all 7 days of our stay were different. The hotel has adventure planners on site which helped us a lot for our excursions. We would definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends.

The Sian Ka'an at Grand Tulum: Not Bad

I just want to say that the The Sian Ka'an at Grand Tulum resort is a nice resort but it is far from an adults only. The only place for adults to eat without a reservation is the buffet on the family side. The adults only beach is a small roped off area of the main beach. we were charged for a bottle of wine by a restaurant that we didn't go to almost mist our shuttle because of this. my suggestion if you want to go to this resort go to the family side as it is cheaper and you get pretty much th [... read more]e same .

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Consistently great!

I have several reviews on this resort. This is our 4th time back and will not be the last. In fact most of the folks there have been there far more than we have. Which really speaks to this location and hotel. We booked with Air Transat. We were happy with the size of plane and their customer service. As far as our expectation on a trip, we look for a nice beach, quiet area for mature adults, variety of food, and a clean hotel. We are seniors so our needs are not grand. This trip seem [... read more]ed to have more of the senior crowd. Not many younger adults, might not be the party place for them. This trip we returned for two weeks and were not disappointed. The hotel continues to be consistent. Very clean, same staff as the last few years which are truly courteous and work hard to please. The location is ideal for the adventurous folk as it is a short bus ride to several smaller towns and an interesting bus ride into the PV. They just upgraded the A/C in the rooms as well. The grounds are well cared for, everyday you can see the garden people trimming and caring for the property. When walking around the pools watch for the hummingbirds they are usually feeding on the flowers on the hedges. Iguana’s are all around the grounds, some very large ones and if you look up you can see them in the trees. This year they were a bit more active, and several were spoted fighting and some even fell into the pool. Staff were quick to respond and lift them out. The hotel is on a beautiful beach where you can walk for miles. They have lots of pools to choose from. There is a party area with games and such. We did not check that out this trip. It is never necessary to get up early to save a spot on the beach or at the pool. They discourage it but don’t seem to enforce it. We never had an issue finding a place to hang out. You do get a beach towel on check in; if you lose it you will be charged a fee. We heard a few folks complain that someone stole their towel and they were stuck with having to pay for one. Bring your own drinking cup, insulated works well for morning coffee and through the day drinks. Coffee is not available in the rooms but easy to get some fresh coffee at the bars. If you want Baileys bring your own they don’t really have that flavour in Mexico. The Buffets have theme nights so best to check them all out, BBQ night was really good and 70’s night was cool too with wings, burgers and such. Two buffets to choose from with different themes at each of them. Best to pay everything in peso even the tips. It is good to tip to show your appreciation; it does go into the general pot and shared with all the staff. Even when your trip does say gratuities are included we still tipped from time to time. You can get money at a better rate than the hotel up the hill with your bank card. Any purchases you make you get a better deal if you pay in peso’s. Get outside the resort it is safe and interesting to experience the Mexican culture. Try some of the local food carts in town and some of restaurants. Popular places are Fat Boys, Drunken Duck, Karen’s which is really short walk on the beach from the resort. They offer happy hour on the beach and a lot of folks go there in the afternoon. Sit up high so you are not bothered by the vendors. Lots of other fun places to explore. Wednesday afternoon they have a market in Bucerias with higher end items. Or you can go to La Cruz on Sunday for the big market. Lots of samples of local fare. fun market. At the end of the main road is the tourist market. Those with mobility might find it challenging to walk on the cobblestone road. Take your time and enjoy or walk on the beach to the market. Just about anything you want will be offered. Beware you need to barter your best price, except at the local market on Sunday those are set prices and really only set up for the locals. Massages are offered everywhere and also the fish pedicure. We have has massages in town in town and on beach, we think that the beach ones are a bit better. Average price is about $20 cdn. or about 250 to 300 peso. The hotel does offer massages but not sure about what the cost is with them. Activities – they offer bikes to ride around town, which we did every day. They have tennis court, soccer field, and basketball. For water, they have kayaks and take the sailboat out from time to time depending on the weather. They do offer boggie boards for some surf time. This trip the water was ok to play in and did not toss you around as much as it had in past trips. You should bring water shoes as there lot of stingrays in the bay and a few folks were stung. On this trip we did not really deal with too many bugs, the hotel does spray each month which make the grounds and your room comfortable and you can sit outside in the evening comfortably. Things they can improve on: The beds are firm and could be better. The pillows are really hard and I will be bringing my own for my next trip. They could offer a few more options on water activities, such as stand up paddleboards. And would be nice if they added a mini golf. Easy activity in the hot sun. Wifi is only available in the common areas. For us once a day is fine with us as we are on vacation, we feel we should be disconnected. We heard that they are slowing adding to each building wifi access. Now for our big issue: The hotel safe is not included and you have to pay 50P a day. Expensive for two weeks, if we did not have peso they asked us for $65 cdn. Luckily we had peso so worked out less. In our opinion it is not worth the risk to leave your passport and money out, even with the good security in the resort. So you have to pay. The lounge chairs are uncomfortable if you plan to read or lounge around for a longer time period. Bring a floater from the dollar store or you can usually get one from someone that is leaving, or you can purchase up the road for a few dollars. Highly recommend to get one. It would be nice if they added some chips and salsa or some type of snack in the bars. We were not keen to attend the evening show as it is late and we have already seen them. We much prefer to hang at the beach bar. Having a few chips or nuts would much improve the bar experience. We really like the location of this hotel and we will be back next year.

Oleo Cancun Playa: Wonderful Improvements!

We have been staying here for around 15 years. The renovations and additions add so much to the resort. The spa and gym are great additions and the usual terrific access to the beach keeps us coming back. Over the years the staff have proven to be always among the most friendly, helpful and caring we have ever encountered in all our travels. The food was more fresh and tastier than the large luxury resorts and we look forward to the completion of the other restaurants as planned. Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Good resort

We arrived late 10 Pm due air plane problem, but the restaurant was still open with nice and good food selection. The room was dark, night table missing, we ask other room (41403) the room identical with the previous but the night table was there. Light bulb burnt out curtain dirty and not hang properly. .We left Do not disturb sign outside the door, but housekeeping wake us up for 3 nights at 8.30 AM. A very cold nigh we ask butler service for an extra blanket and delivered promptly (thanks) [... read more]. The ground was very nicely kept, the restaurants was peasant with extremely good, nicely prepared in the buffets and restaurants. The staff extremely helpful and friendly Pools, transportations wery good between properties. We have good time except the room can be in better shape.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Poor customer service

Horrible customer service. Check in took over an hour and a half and then they denied us our room. Tons of lines for food and drinks. Great atmosphere, but that’s due to the people there not the hotel.

Hotel Dos Playas Faranda: For easy to please travellers

If the weather had been better, I wouldn't have noticed as many minor things. It was very clean, some staff were friendly and provided good service. It's a small place so had it been warmer, there would have been much more competition for the few chairs at the beach and pools, but I had no trouble on the cloudy and windy days. They don't have food warmers so the buffet food was not kept hot and variety was limited, but adequate. No guacamole was a disappointment considering the region. Go there at lunch for a la carte orders because it comes to you nice and hot. Great tacos there. Esteban and Jacquelina on the animacion team were both wonderful. She was super friendly and a great karaoke host. Esteban is a fantastic dancer and wonderful with people. Weather prevented me trying the spa services as they are in an outdoor tent. Room was basic, but adequate and kept clean. On the last day however, after I checked out I was questioned about a broken night table lamp shade. It had been like that when I checked in, but I was being accused of breaking it. Somehow the cleaning lady only noticed it on my last day. But there was no glass, so it substantiated my reasoning. I did not appreciate being accused. I have heard of this happening in other reviews. This was my turn I guess - so folks, take pics of your room right when you arrive to note any damage up front. They dropped it based on my reaction. It had been written in pencil on my check out card. I imagine if I had paid some kind of charge, that money would disappear and the note erased. Anyway, it was sorted. I recommend this place if you just want beach, sun, and cheap and cheerful accommodations/meals. If you are used to more, you won't be happy. One other thing, seems in the main restaurant, at lunch and dinner when I dined alone, no one ever came over to offer me a drink. Only if I dined with friends. Every other table around me every day was served drinks, several throughout their meal. Not sure why they shun single diners, but it was noticeable. I think it was a world apart from the 4 star I stayed at a few years ago though, so I think calling it a 3 star was generous. I would say 2.75 max., but again, it was adequate.
