Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Beautiful beach and great food - a few annoying things

Positive: beautiful beach (resort is on a wide and very long stretch of sand, crystal clear water), lots of shade and lounge chairs in the adults only section of the beach, great food, lots of restaurant choices, attentive and friendly service, we stayed in the old section of the resort which was the closest to the beach and the room was more than adequate although a little dated. Negative: insufficient frequency and capacity of shuttle service within the resort (which can be a problem for a re [... read more]sort this big with 1000 rooms), they have a beautiful spa but the jacuzzi is always lukewarm instead of the 32 degrees they advertise, there is no wi-fi in the rooms and very poor wi-fi in the public areas, the minute you arrive they book you for a presentation to try to sell you the resort membership program (in exchange for attending the presentation we were upgraded to a "golden" bracelet which gave us access to the adults-only section of the beach), this is a family resort that caters to children so there were lots and lots of kids everywhere, we did not have access to the "members only" areas of the pool and the beach which was annoying.

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Amazing Resort and Food!

Lots of activities to do throughout the day from beach games to obstacle courses in the pool. Excellent entertainment shows at night. Good beach with swimming area. If you want to get a lounge chair at the beach should get there early as people tend to claim them early. The restaurant reservations fill up fast so book before you arrive if possible, but the general buffet is excellent and has different features every night so I wasn’t disappointed that we didn’t get to try many of the restau [... read more]rants.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Awesome place!!

What a well kept clean resort!! Amazing staff and help and assistance whenever in need. The entertainment was Vagas quality and the restaurant and bars were fantastic!! Food was out of this world... And everything was very easy to navigate!! Pools were clean big an had entertainment and fun games daily.. Music was awesome Aswell!! "the beach was nice a little small but clean and easy to get to!! We will be back for sure!

Royal Villas Resort: The best vacation we have had in a long time!

The hotel is very clean and the staff are professional, helpful and personable. The location is very central in the Golden Zone, so many restaurants, shops and alot of transportation is available. The rooms are very nice, with super comfy beds and pillows, the kitchenette is well stocked with what you would need to do your own cooking, although you don't need to because the food in the buffet and the restaurant is incredible! The view from the balcony was beautiful and it was very nice to sit there in the evening and listen to the live band at Gus & Gus play. We haven't felt more comfortable and well looked after at a resort in a long time. We also felt very comfortable walking around Mazatlan and using the local buses and pulmonias. The residents of the city that we met are very nice. We would recommend this hotel and Mazatlan for a vacation.

Krystal Ixtapa: Not our usual all around perfect all inclusive!

*Arrived to find our room we had booked was not available...got a two bed, air conditioner leaking NOT 100% clean room.Was quite the effort and run around to get our proper ocean view , king size bed room with a working phone and an air conditioner. This took till 3 pm the next day. We were not happy to have had to hang around hotel all day to deal with this.The second room was lovely and clean. Looloo our cleaner was fantastic and room was good for rest of week...but never did get a fridge that [... read more] worked. Had to keep some meds on ice all week. *The buffet was always neat and tidy but we have stayed in mexico many times and this was the worst, unlabeled and stewed uneatable food we have ever experienced. salad bar was minimal and most fruit canned. Also the aggressive birds need to go or more cages put up around eating area. Our friends were crapped on twice. Plus my toast stolen right off my plate one morning. GROSS! *BOGARTS was okay for food....Experience was fun and Rey our server was fantastic. *ITALIAN restaurant was our favorite. Maria de luz made dining there wonderful and the food and service was superb. *Overall the staff were very friendly and kind. We never knew what activities were going on though. Bathrooms were spotless most of the time. *Biggest pet peeve was that people held lounge chairs all day with their towels, (by pool and beach) we sat on edge one day near pool overlooking ocean....was almost 6 hours before a group of 10 came to pool area. meanwhile no one there had anywhere to sit. Very strange this was allowed. *Overall we loved Playa Linda, Zhuatanao, Achole, Las Gatas, Ixtapa Island the buses, walking, and the ocean. *THERE definitely needs to be a clean up garbage program started and the amount of broken glass on the beaches we were shocked by. We have never seen that bad a problem in all the last 20 years of travel to our favorite country.

Oleo Cancun Playa: Good resort at this price

hotel is good, but far form real hotel zone staff were excellent, food was OK, not much choice for vegetarian under construction beach was good, service at beach was very good 1

Barcelo Huatulco: Fantastic resort for the whole family!

Resort was great overall - Excellent service. - very well maintained, although slightly dated. - great kids program - food was really good - weather is perfect in Jan - would prefer over dreams for those with young kids (we visited dreams for a day) - close to the airport

Las Brisas Huatulco: Very nice destination

Upon arrival after a very long flight and minimal sleep my first impression of the resort was omg where the heck am I this is not what I seen on the website. After checking in and finding out the room I was supposed to get was not the room I received I was not impressed at all. Although nice it was not what I had paid for. The staff was very accommodating and I switched rooms the next day. The food was typical resort food and although not at all fancy it was very good. I cannot say enough abou [... read more]t the staff and how accommodating they were, I felt very at home with them. Once I walked around the resort grounds it became apparent that I had harshly judged prematurly as the grounds were very nice lots of walking which I totally loved and lots of things to keep you entertained for sure. The nightly shows were typical for the resort no different from last year in Ixtapa. Some things were a bit confusing like how much the laundry service was. I was quite surprised when I checked out and my laundry bill was almost 200.00 Canadian for two loads of laundry. The golf course I played on was very nicely laid out but if you’re an avid golfer take lots of cash cause it’s not cheap at all I paid about 225 dollars per round which I though was very pricy. And there is only one course although 2 were advertised on line. I am not a person to complain and hope that this doesn’t dampen the opportunity for a great vacation las brisias is a very nice resort and I would most certainly recommend it to anyone that likes a resort that you like to walk around and is very warm. Personally I would most definitely go back not that I know what I know I would just pack differently and not play so much golf lol. Moon Palace The Grand Cancun: Great resort

Golf, great weather amazing for all ages and familes. Adult pool. Top shelf liquor. Room service. Huge rooms. Planning on booking next year with the entire family. Nightlife was also amazing. Huge resort with so many fun activities

El Cozumeleno Beach: Awesome Staff

The staff is what makes this place. Whether they are front desk, waiters, housekeeping, bartenders, groundskeepers they are amazing. I’m sorry I don’t remember all their names. One of the waiters, Angel remembered us from the other year we stayed and welcomed us back. I would say the only negative would be not much of a variety at the buffet. We are already talking about when we can go back. Thank you so much Cozumeleno staff.

Holiday Inn Ixtapa: Mexican sun and sand

We just spent a wonderful week at the Holiday Inn Resor Ixtapa.The staff was very accommodating; they quickly changed our rooms as we were uncomfortable on the ground floor and did everything possible to make us feel safe and happy. Our room was clean, the beds were super comfortable, the bathroom had a wonderful shower. There was free wi-fi which makes keeping in touch with family super easy. The beach was beautiful, safe to walk from one end to the other. Food in the buffet restaurants was del [... read more]icious, varied and well-presented. Hot foods were at the correct temperature and servers were happy to explain what things were. In fact, although we usually try for the a la carte restaurants as much as possible, here we were happy at the buffets. Drinks were delicious and frosty. Hugo led a good aqua gym class. We did, however, feel that the aqua gym class and the pool bar should not be located in the children's play area. All in all, a lovely resort.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great Resort

Our fourth time to the Barcelo Maya and we have really enjoyed every stay there. The beach, pools, grounds and resort are all beautiful and very well maintained. The resort is huge with lots of amenities, so we typically don't leave the resort and still find plenty to do. We were in Tropical and had friends staying in Caribe we visited daily and according to my step counter I averaged more than 16 kms of walking per day...that is how big the resort is. Our last two days there, the resort was  [... read more]completely full for a concert on the beach and we still found chairs by the pool and the beach with no issues. But the resort was very obviously more crowded and the food choice and quality seemed to go down a bit at the snack places on the beach. Our meat choices went from steak, chicken fish and burgers --- to burgers only? Our only complaint would be how loud the hallways near the rooms are. Due to design and the fact it's all hard materials (tiles and concrete) it sounds like any noise or talking in the hallway are coming from right beside your bed, though I think that is normal for all resorts in the south. Bring ear plugs and know you'll likely only sleep from midnight till about 7am with a couple of wake ups thrown in. We will definitely go back again as the resort is very well run and maintained.

Playa Los Arcos: Excellent location!

We enjoyed the hotel location and food very much. Unfortunately we had to change rooms three times to find one that was in good enough condition to unpack our things. It took three days of going to the front desk to get the room changed! Again our new room needed to have the air condition on at all times to keep down the musty smell of humidity. Unacceptable!!

Dreams Huatulco: Great resort!

It's a beautiful resort with great food. We especially enjoyed the room service for breakfast. The first night our room was noisey being close to a bar. Once we let them know that sleep was a priority to us, they moved us to a very quiet end of the resort. The staff was helpful and seemed genuinely wanting to please and not expecting tips but much appreciated. We loved our ocean swims with fairly good snorkeling right from the resort. The beds were compfy with nice linens. However, I [... read more] prefer my bed to be just a little softer, so they made our beds daily with stacked blankets under the fitted sheet which made it much better. The restaurants had great food but my husband had to wear a collard shirt and closed toe shoes at the Italian one. We rarely ate the large buffet and mostly had lunch at the Seaside grill buffet which had a smaller selection but more than plenty to choose from in the open air by the ocean. There wasn't guacamole at the buffet but you could order it freshly made. The cafe had really good coffee, espresso drinks, smoothies and pastries. And I'm the kind of person who likes Stumptown coffee. We love Huatulco for it's consistent nice weather and direct flights from Calgary.

Riu Flamingos: Incredible resort

This resort was beautiful and very well laid out. Didn't have to walk all over. Food was good. Good variety. Drinks were premium. Room was great. Activities at the pool each day were so much fun. Staff was so helpful. OnE suggestion, a place where you can paint your own pottery.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico: Amazing resort

Beyond expectation all view hotel with exelent service! The rooms and restaurants are designed very creatively, cosy, modern, relaxing and nature wize. The food was gourmet and delicious. The infinity pool is heated.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Okay vacation

This resort is directly centered around tips. We had stayed at Grand Oasis, and I can say that the service we received was just below par when the employees felt they deserved to be tipped more. Being that we've spent all of this money to enjoy an ALL INCLUSIVE resort, I would imagine service would be one of the things included. There were always lines, everywhere you wanted to eat, at every restaurant. At lunch/breakfast and dinner, 15 minute waits minimum. When we checked in, they had advised  [... read more]us it wasn't such a busy time, so I guess they cut their staff. The nightlife in the hotel ended at 1am, which my group felt was too early, especially for a resort that was rated top for that. I stayed here 4 years ago and it is a much worse place 4 years later. I remember being amazed by the food, always greeted warmly by staff, etc. Too bad this place has changed for the worse.

Sunset Plaza Beach Resort & Spa: Wonderful Little Resort!

We loved the small friendly feel of this resort. The meals were good quality and staff helpful and friendly. The pools and grounds were lovely and amenities great. Every room has an ocean view, were a good size and up to date with roomy balconies. The location from town was close (2.5 km) and the resort had a nice stretch of sandy beach out front. Highly recommend this resort.

Moon Palace Cancun: Amazing Resort

Resort is a great place for the whole family. Excellent staff and immaculate grounds. Food is amazing and well flavored. Even with a garden view room, we could still see the ocean. I even loved the way the resort smelt :)

Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa: No a 5 starts

We been to playa mujerse 5 times in the last 3 years. We had stay at the beloved and the finest. We were VERY VERY disappointed with the hotel. Food: The quality of food is bellow a 3 starts hotel.. they put margarine everywhere, the menu is made with the same ingredient place to place . Service : was okay, we had to wait around 45 minutes every night for a table at the restaurant... so much for no reservation restaurant resort. The only restaurant we fell welcome was Guccho the mana [... read more]ger really nice from A to Z and Luise the waiter was super nice Room : are great and clean The hotel had over 5 wedding the week of + corporate event... very loud music in main pool, drunk peoples ( a lot) in the main pool all day long and full blast music... Its was definitely not a family oriented resort as we where expected. Kids club : they did not let us come in with our kids (5 years old + 3 years old) its a drop off... no wonder they only have 2 to 3 kids a day when we pass in front. We coming to have a nice family vacation, if we would like to go in the kids club to make a puzzle or face painting with her kids we should have access. Selling team : they woke us up the 2 first morning to invite us to private breakfast to give us some free coupon and show us the resort... and please don't forget bring your credit card (what a traps) we had to lets them know the second day to stop calling us at 8h30 in the morning for this we where in vacation and if we fell to have a selling pitch about the resorts we will contact them. Your best publicity should be take care of your client from the begging to the end...and they will be back for sure. D'ont arrest them with this in the first 48 hours of the vacation Beach: was nice and clean. We got stole 100$ in my husband pants. Beach and pool service : very fast good staff... but to much staff they should put more staff at night and less during the day time.. staffing is definitely not well manage
