Riu Playa Blanca: RIU PLAYA BLANCA - PANAMA
Nice resort, clean rooms, very good buffet, and we had a great week.
The only problem is that we had to use Sunwing from Canada. We didn't have to pay for any of our carry-on or checked luggage because I booked back in July. However they now charge for everything, including food on the flight.

Riu Palace Jamaica: Fun resort
We stayed for 1 week in a courtyard room. The service, food, activities and music were all outstanding. The rooms, lobby, grounds and public spaces were sub-par. Very outdated and unappealing, small and crowded, but fun can still be had without the beauty. And everything was clean. The weather was excellent, the beach was adequate.
The grounds and plant life were dull and dry.
Overall we had fun due to the great weather, entertainment and yummy food and drink however we would not return.

We love Cabo....and the new Adults only Riu Palace did not disappoint. We stayed at the first Riu Palace there in 2017...so we loved visiting for a whole day there to enjoy the same wonderful food. The Riu Palace line is a wonderful getaway....I highly recommend to anyone! The grounds, the food, the pools, the wonderful Mexican Staff....the entertainment....all perfect. We are so rested and refreshed from our vacation. Of course, all sanitary precautions of covid were followed.

This would be my husbands and ours third time to the review in Negril to be honest with you the hotel has gone downhill the food is the same every night it’s terrible you need music on the beach your entertainment staff suck they play the same music on the beach every day the drinks are under par you can only have two cans of beer in your room per day for two days everybody’s looking for tips I think you need to sit down with your staff and and seriously think of some improvements for your h[... read more]otel because it has definitely definitely gone downhill and we will not be returning

Riu Palace Jamaica: COVID
The hotel had hand sanitizers available throughout the resort. Mask were not required, nor worn by anyone, with exception to a few staff kitchen workers. No social distancing was enforced.
The hotel was very clean and staff was always seen cleaning floors, windows of doors, public washrooms, beach chairs and beds.

If you want loud music you can go to the sister hotels
Zen restaurant music should be Japanese instrumental music
Food is mediocre at best even in restaurants
And most of the time the food is not hot
Restaurant wait list was a zoo and not really worth the long wait
Very noisy plumbing

Riu Emerald Bay: Second Time at this RIU
PRO's -The hotel itself is nice and the rooms are spacious and clean. Great ocean views even from some of the non-view rooms. For the most part the staff are excellent Noa and Daniel were great poolside! Foam party was fun to watch and the entertainment was good. Between the 6 pools it's not that hard to find a sunny spot to hang out.
CON's - Upper pool was a bit chillier than the last time we were there, would be nice if they turned the heat up a bit. While the food is plentiful the variety[... read more] gets a bit boring after a few days. I ended up with food poisoning on our 5th day and spent 8 hours in the hospital, it ruined the last two days of our trip and I was even very concerned that I wouldn't be well enough to leave. The Dr that came to the hotel was really good and got me to the hospital and loaded with IV meds and I was able to fly out. The location is lovely, but it is a distance to any shopping or other restaurants and night life. Although this was our second time here I would be reluctant to come back anytime soon.

Riu Palace Las Americas: Amazing Resort!!!
Everything about this resort was perfect. The staff were super friendly, helpful, kind and they put in soooo much effort and hardwork to make people's stay magical, and magical it was. The rooms are squeaky clean at all times. The food was absolutely delicious, the layout of the resort was absolutely perfect. Pools anywhere you look, the beach is just a few steps from the lobby. The nice thing about this resort is during the day time, it had a specific flavor with everyone in bathing suits while[... read more] at night time, a completely different flavor with everyone dressed so nice for dinners and every single night there was a show that was setup by the staff for entertainment. So much hard work was put into these shows and I thank them all for it. Finally and most importantly, I would like to thank Eliana Antoun for recommending this resort. Thank you Eliana for all your help, patience and efforts. I am already looking forward to the next trip :)

Riu Palace Antillas: RIU Antilles - amazing!
This is my 6th time to Aruba, second time to the RIU. The others were timeshares.
As a solo traveller, it was easy to meet other travellers, everyone is so happy to be on "one happy island". Resort is close enough to walk to Palm Beach village or grab the bus to head downtown Orangestad for the day. Short walk to grab the "boardwalk" that runs all the way to past the divi's.
The rooms are bright, clean and good for what you need them for. Water/beer/pop in the mini-bar fridge replenishe[... read more]d when necessary. Cleaning staff are always on hand and do a great job!
Food excellent - prime rib, hamburgers, sushi, ceviche, chicken, fresh vegetables, pasta, cheese, bread, desserts, and so much more, plentiful. Ate at the steak house one night, IMO buffet is just as good!
Lobby bar & 24 sports bar - delicious cocktails and treats!
Pool bar - Elsa, Camillo and rest the staff work tirelessly and always with a smile. Great service and quality! And they have Caesars for us Canadians.
Beach - best in the Caribbean! The guys who bring you your chairs are always so accommodating. My one beef is people get up at 445am to save palapas, I gave up trying, ugh!
Grounds - well manicured and someone always cleaning.
Sunwing rep - we had a hiccup with our delayed flight and had to seek out our rep to find out what was going on. Would have been nice to let us stay longer in our room but I kind of get they have other people to put in those rooms.
Misc. - room service is great, small/simple menu, foam party was a blast, security is everywhere - always felt safe, didnt go to the disco or any of the shows.
I would say, do yourself a favour and just book it, but then the prices will go up and it will cost me more. So ... book somewhere else ... LOL

Riu Negril: Terrific Resort
We have usually stayed at the Riu Montego and decided to try the Riu Negril for this vacation. We found the staff very friendly and went over and above to ensure all guests were well taken care of and happy. The room was well maintained and, if there were any issues, these were addressed promptly and there was always follow up to ensure that the issue was addressed to the satisfaction of the guests. The entertainment staff were great and were friendly to the guests which made it an enjoyable [... read more]stay. The grounds and general public areas were well maintained.
Re restaurants, what was especially nice was having a staff meet and greet you at the main entrance of each restaurant with hand sanitizer. Unfortunately there is a 2nd entrance where guests would enter the restaurants (Green Island and Seagull) with no one there to provide the hand sanitizer. We would suggest having a staff member meet guests at this 2nd entrance as guests coming from the beach and pool area may not necessarily wash their hands before going to eat. We have observed some guests picking up food with their hands, despite the tongs or serving utensils provided in abundance.
Although there were lots of variety in the food dishes, we did find some of the dishes (especially stir fry) very salty. As stir fry dishes contain soy sauce which has sufficient sodium, additional salt is not necessary. For guests who have health issues such as high blood pressure, this is an issue which should be addressed. Please note that we have never had this issue at the Riu Montego or Riu Bachata in Dominican Republic.
The resort was beautifully decorated for the upcoming Christmas season. We had a truly wonderful experience there for our anniversary.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Great resort
Rooms and grounds were amazing. our room was perfect(other than the electric outlets that continue to be a pain to use)
the restaurants were great except for the Italian where the food was overcooked and bland. 6 of us went to the steak house and they only got one order right, i am not sure what was wrong but all of our steaks were raw, when asked for medium. it would almost seem that you didn't want us to be there or go more than once in the week that we were there.

Riu Republica: Dirty, run down,
The grounds are beautiful and well kept with the exception of the beach. There is so much seaweed on the beach it seems like they’ve given up on maintaining it as there was literally more seaweed than sand. Water was extremely rough everyday and absolutely not safe to go into and I’m a good swimmer. Red flags everyday - disappointing.
Staff and food were hit or miss. Good thing about the size of the resort is many food options although the quality is mediocre with the exception of the [... read more]jerk chicken near the beach which was fantastic.
Rooms are VERY basic. We literally were given a bed sheet (1) and 2 very flat pillows. We had to request blankets and pillows but took a few days to get everything. 1 plug in the room and a usb charger. Our usb was broken and didn’t get fixed although we sent in 2 maintenance requests.
Party pool is disgustingly dirty. Pool water is below the skimmer level so it gets nasty.
Drinks were fantastic and bartenders were knowledgeable and friendly.

Riu Republica: Amazing Party Resort!
This resort was definitely one of my favourites!
The resort has lots of entertainment and activities, it’s very clean overall and the buffet is delicious. There is a variety of à la carte restaurants which include Spanish, Italian, Indian, Asian and Japanese foods.
The service is top tier and the workers on the resort are very kind.
The rooms were clean and semi modern but I will say that the beds need an upgrade. They were hard as a rock.
The beach was beautiful and the views[... read more] were amazing. It is important to note that depending on the time of year you visit there may be a lot of seaweed along the beach front.

Riu Palace Aruba: Great experience. Will come back.
We stayed at the Rio Palace Aruba first week in dec. The room and resort overall were very clean. Housekeeping was on the ball. We dined at the buffet restaurant the entire stay. Food was well prepared and more variety than we could sample in the one week stay. We found the staff courteous and helpful the entire time. The beach was clean and always groomed. No sargasum. If you like to use palapas, you will need to reserve one early. They go fast. We did a couple of trips off resort. Wish we ha[... read more]d more time to do more. Will have to go back to complete the Aruba experience. It truly is One Happy Island.

Riu Palace Bavaro: Great Resort, Beautiful Beach and Friendly Staff!
My boyfriend and I stayed here from October 15th-22nd 2022 for our first trip. We appreciated the intake process where the lounge offered food and drinks while we waited to be checked into our room. After a long flight the snacks were much appreciated. We were introduced to our butler Victor Alexis upon arrival and given his contact information once we checked in. Having the ability to contact him with our questions, reservation requests, and seeing his daily messages about the schedules and men[... read more]us of the day made our stay very comfortable. He was very attentive and friendly when seeing him on resort.
Room: We booked the Mirage Club Sky View Suite with Rooftop Jacuzzi and were not disappointed. Being part of the Mirage Club meant we were in the adult only section with just a 2 minute walk from the beach. Our rooftop looked out over the Seaside restaurant and bar, the pool and the beach. The room had air conditioning and our mini fridge was constantly stocked. We were also left extra waters beside on our bedside tables which were much appreciated after late nights. Housekeeping was amazing and kept everything very clean. We never ran out of towels or cleaning products. Our club access also included access to the adults only lounge which stocked drinks, alcohol, a variety of snacks and fruit all day. It was a great addition to the regular food offerings this resort had.
Food: The food options were endless. The buffet was great for breakfast offering variations of eggs, pancakes, crepes, meats, etc. They had lots of fresh fruit and fruit juices along with yogurt and other dairy products. As someone with celiac disease navigating buffets can be difficult. They had clearly marked gluten free muffins, sourdough, and croissants as well as an omelette station that was great for avoiding cross contamination. For the most part the buffet is very straight forward regarding what is and isn't gluten free. Most of the staff that was knowledgeable about gluten free food worked in the restaurants not the buffet. The staff in the French and Italian restaurants were great with recommending gluten free options during both of our first dinner visits. There was some confusion at the Italian (lunch) and French restaurants (2nd dinner visit) so just make sure you double check with a knowledgeable staff member. It can help to have a spanish description of gluten free food saved on your phone. The Kabuki restaurant was awesome for making sure the food was gluten free! They used gluten free soy sauce and made sure to keep the cooking area and food separate from the usual food they had cooking. It was a great experience. We typically went to the Seaside buffet for lunch which offered both traditional dishes from the Dominican as well as fresh salads, fruit, and seafood. This buffet was a bit harder to navigate so be sure to find an employee that knows gluten free food to guide you through it. There was also a coffee shop open most of the days that offered great food and speciality drinks.
Entertainment: There was always something going on during the day or at night to keep you busy. There were lots of activities in some of the pools as well as beach activities. The nightly shows featured popular music and impressive acrobatics. I recommend getting a seat early if you're looking forward to a particular show. They also had entertainment in the courtyard area that was easier to drop in on before or after dinner. We even picked up a painting from one of the performers.
Beach: The beach was great! There were some days with seaweed and some days without. They did make an effort to keep it clean as best they could. There are a lot of people trying to sell things on the beach which can be helpful if you're looking for souvenirs but is a bit overwhelming. Most of the sellers are polite and move on if you are not interested. There were lots of chairs but be sure to try and to get a bali bed early in the day if you want to spend any time on one. The drink service on the beach was a plus.
Bars: The piano bar is a perfect place to go for fancy drinks. Antony at the lobby bar was amazing! He always had drinks ready when he saw us coming and had his own speciality drinks when we weren't sure what to order. The seaside bar is the best place to grab drinks when you are on the beach. The ladies there are very friendly. Rafi was also awesome at the Tiki bar if you're spending the day in the pool. If you're part of the Mirage Club make sure to visit the exclusive bars beside your lounge or in your pools which are less busy.
Check out: Check out process was quick an easy. Our bags were picked up while we went to breakfast and loaded onto the shuttle for us as we left.
Overall we had a great experience and will be returning hopefully to see the same staff members that made the trip memorable.
