Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Good Value Resort

We visited the Puerto Plata area for the first time and had a great experience overall. The resort offered good value for the money we spent. It’s small but cozy, and thanks to the low occupancy in mid-October, we were able to relax and really enjoy our stay. A big plus goes to the entertainment team — they did a fantastic job! On weekends, when more local guests arrived, it quickly became crowded and a bit dirty. The buffet food was generally good, though the selection was limited and quite repetitive from day to day, with only minor variations. The à la carte restaurants were open just three nights out of our seven-night stay, likely due to the low season. Overall, it’s a good four-star resort — clean, cozy, and well-maintained.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Resort was perfect

Had a great stay at this resort. I have stayed there before. Entertainment, cleaning and front desk were all amazing. The ocean was closed for two days due to heavy currents but the beach was clean and remained open. I would definitely stay there again. Brian

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed!

First off, Trip central was amazing to book with! Once I get over the trauma of this resort, I will book elsewhere! We just returned from the Dominican and I wanted to give you the review we sent to Hyatt Customer Service and they have told me to contact you or Air Canada holidays. I knew the reviews were bad and I knew the resort was bottom of the Hyatt chain, but this resort should honestly be shut down. Anyways, I just wanted you to know about the week as I’m sure you may have heard the complaints before as well and I hate to complain! We are all business owners, this was by far the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. Booking with you was wonderful and I will book again but definitely NOT this resort and sad the Dominican is off my favourites list. Not at all your fault and I’m thankful for the easy efficient booking process. So RUN don’t walk from the blue shirts! Their membership is useless! My letter is as follows: We just returned from Sunscape coco punta cana (Oct14-21-2025) and as a UVC member, I’m embarrassed I purchased this trip! The list of issues is Endless and trust me when I say, I’ve stayed at lower class resorts that put this resort to shame First of all, we booked 2 rooms. Once they found out we were members, we were immediately shunned! Everyone else offered upgrades and special treatment! I was shocked to witness first hand! Then daughter with infant put in a room beside the party pool with no sleep at all! Offered a room with fee to move and will note we were in separate buildings when requested joined rooms! When moved to a room with no AC…we are all covered in bed bug bites confirmed by the doctor, we have many mosquito bites, but not as many as bed bug bites! They were moving furniture from room to room and our request was just ignored! I asked what the issue was to our Neighbor and they too had the same issues! Covered in bed bugs! We are home now sick and basicly threw away everything we went there with! We ordered water for the infant and literally had to steal from maids cart as not once not twice..10 room service requests were ignored and maid did not understand English. On the app, it showed as pending requests. I phoned front desk and they sent a gentlemen with pop! When the maid seen me taking water for the baby, she took 2 bottles back…and She gave us 2 water! When room service finally showed up on day 4, they delivered 4 more bottles of pop!! No water, no beer…just pop! Our toilet didn’t flush, 2 days we were walking to the sunclub to use their facilities before they finally came with a plunger! Then not one day did we have room service even after showing the maids the bug bites all 5 of us had! Showed them the dirty sheets and moldy curtains and she said something in Spanish and never returned! Then others coming up to our swim up and leaving their empties and cigarette butts in cups….This is LUXURY?? A seven month old covered in bites and nobody cared! No mini bar filled not once in 8 days in either room! No towels! Oh and bring facecloths as they do not supply those either! We also had to help ourselves to the cart! No hot water, and they say to upgrade to Sun club for top luxury?! We tried everyday to book an a la carte..no luck!! The buffets were packed as not all restaurants were open! We booked a beach dinner for my daughters engagement which was 100% ruined as they had other people booked with one swirled light bulb and then still charged us after being told we didn’t show up…I then tried to help them out by booking photos on the beach, then get charged 400.00 for 20 photos after being told 150 for the rushed 5 minute session! This resort is as crooked as they come! Not only did we get eaten alive by bedbugs…we had mold all over our room! Curtains, sheets, walls, table, sofa bed. Now we are all back in Canada after a week of being sick, still sick and traumatized after this week of nothing but disappointment! I understand this resort is a lower class resort, but it is definitely no more than 2 star and that’s only because some staff were very kind and worked very hard. Mostly restaurant staff! This was a surprise engagement for my daughter and was completely ruined! We had 2 rooms. Both Sunclub as we were told to upgrade for added luxury…people from all buildings had the same treatment! 50.00 a day to rent cabanas all to get hounded by aggressive vendors! One vendor had a parrot, and we obviously want to support the locals and felt safe knowing a security guard was right there, he then tells us 50.00 per picture and connected something to my daughters phone, to which her bank account was immediately shut down coincidently for fraud, then confronts my son in law in front of security who is nonchalantly walking in a different direction..so I give him 50.00 to make him go away and the vendor went over and passed the security guard cash! We tip security to keep them away in apparently private zone…so the vendors can pay the security guard to go inside the ropes area…safety is NOT good at all! Offering cocaine and marjuana and getting more and more aggressive the more you say NO…Then The weekend came and locals came for the weekend…what a disgrace! Even our patio chairs were taken right off our deck! We didn’t sit on the sunclub loungers for our room once! Getting service with a smile was never! What exactly is the perks of upgrading?! Paper cups that literally melt in your hand. Spagetti Burgers and hotdogs seemed to be the only things available, unless the buffet was open. Room service had the same on the menus but never came once! We walked to the standard side (not sunclub) as they had a burger bus available. No other restaurants open. Sunclub had the same little dry sandwiches and sweets covered in flys. The cabana at Coco Cafe was falling apart and they were painting and the fumes were so strong your eyes watered! So that was shut down also. Their nightly dinner parties….15 US dollars each to enjoy. Ive never been to a resort that charges for their theme dinners..it’s normally just their buffet food anyways! The pools were all filthy! Rocks and leaves all throughout. We even had a burger bun float right by..this is just a few things I think were inexcusable. Air Canada on the other hand, fantastic! That was the only good portion. After reviewing endless poor reviews a couple weeks prior to our trip, something told me to try to change but it was too close to departure time unfortunately. But in hind sight, we had great weather and flew out the day the weather got bad. So Air Canada was fantastic! I am told this is their low season, so understaffed and not all restaurants will be open!! The sunclub is right beside dreams Flora which is under construction day and night! Between kids running wild in the swim ups all hours and construction…I felt like I was downtown NY City!

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Absolutely loved this resort and my week stay!

From the moment of check-in, the service and the ambiance was a precursor to a wonderful week. The room was clean and well outfitted, with a full mini fridge and a beautiful garden view. The water pressure was perfect and always had hot and/or cold water. There was always something to do, from macrame to yoga and as it was off season, getting a beach lounger was a breeze. The grounds are beautiful and well kept and there were workers throughout keeping maintenance. The carts to take you to and from were frequent and excellent drivers for every jaunt! The buffet by the beach was my favourite - who doesn't love overlooking the ocean while enjoying a good meal and a libation! The dinner buffet offered many delicious options and the MUOI Asian restaurant was my favourite. Go for the ribs! Overall, I absolutely loved my stay here and would return in a heartbeat.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Loved it

Food was wonderful and there were a decent amount of vegetarian options. Rooms and bathrooms were clean always, which was really nice. Downside was there wasn’t drink service at the beach or pool, so we just had to make extra steps when we wanted drinks. Also, there was a constant stream of people trying to sell you things on the beach. Overall, it was a wonderful trip

TRS Turquesa: Amazing hotel, can’t wait to return

From the moment we arrived , everything was perfect. We were a group of ten, 5 swimout rooms. Without even asking g were were all placed next to each other. Amazing! Our rooms were gorgeous, fully stocked and so comfortable. We met our amazing butler Joanna, and all i can say is thank you my dear, you made our vacation so wonderful. Dreams Cap Cana Resort and Spa: Relaxing Cap Cana

Just back from Cap Cana let’s start with Negative the beach is unusable due to rocks , we knew this so not a big deal.The restaurants had a schedule posted you did know what nights open . The food was very good ,no reservations needed and if not full stop in another one or order seconds. We went to the Italian twice everything was amazing try the rib pizza. Jose , Carlos , kept us busy at pool …All in I would go back in a heartbeat , yes some locals come on weekend but nothing to stress about

Definitely not a 5 star. This was a long-awaited family vacation. Since I was traveling with my adult son, I specifically requested a room with two beds. Upon arrival, we were given a room facing a brick wall, with a single king bed. The room was in noticeable need of renovation, as were many others we saw at the resort. The door was covered in dirty fingerprints, suggesting it hadn’t been cleaned properly. I immediately raised these concerns with the front desk. I was told there were no other rooms available, but I could move to the Ambar section for 50% off — an offer I declined. I reiterated that I had made a request for two beds well in advance. While I understand that special requests aren’t guaranteed, I didn’t feel I was asking for much. The front desk agent simply shrugged and said there was nothing he could do. I asked to speak with a manager, and was told the manager had left for the day. However, after explaining my situation further, someone — possibly the manager after all — was able to move us to a nicer pool-view room with two beds. While the rooms are spacious, the housekeeping left much to be desired. Since the water isn’t safe to drink, we had to keep requesting bottled water. There always seemed to be something missing: towels, face cloths, coffee creamers, coffee machine was never emptied and washed, etc. It’s understandable if something is forgotten once, but when you have to repeatedly ask throughout the week, it becomes frustrating. The resort itself is very large, and shuttles are necessary to get around. Unfortunately, they don’t come as often as advertised, and when they do, they’re often full. It takes patience to catch one you can actually board. The beach is beautiful but can be seaweedy at times. That said, the staff does an excellent job keeping it clean. However, the constant interruptions from beach vendors become tiring. While I respect that they are trying to earn a living, it gets irritating when asked repeatedly to purchase something after already declining. Particularly bothersome were the people with parrots who, without consent, place birds on you while trying to relax. That level of intrusion is simply unacceptable. Service at the Sports Bar is as nil. We asked to watch the Montreal Canadiens game and after 5 minutes it switched to the Toronto game. I guess their guests from Montreal are not worthy of watching their team. We asked them to switch it multiple times and it never was. The head bartender could not care less about servicing his guests. Spanish soaking guests received preferential treatment. The restaurants were average — nothing particularly memorable. The pool areas were clean, and the entertainment staff did a great job. In contrast, the staff at the beach towel hut seemed uninterested in helping and rarely smiled. It always seemed like we were interrupting his chit chat with another employee. Overall, most of the staff were kind, helpful, and pleasant — and their efforts were appreciated.

TRS Turquesa: Fabulous

My family and I had a wonderful time at this resort, I’m sure we will return in the future, they could use some extra attention with the public washrooms at all the connecting resorts. I absolutely loved how clean the pool was at our walkout room

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Nice resort

There was some positives and not so postives. The grounds were well kept, our room (corner swim up) was spacious and clean. We enjoyed our afternoon swims. We are not foodies, but precooked our food ahead of time, with the dinner slots that fit our needs. We really enjoyed M.E.A.T and Limbo..the other ones were good, but those two were our favourites. The vendors on the beach could sometimes be a little pesky, but you get it everywhere. I did not use the big pool, as I enjoyed our swim up. The negatives… Some staff were not so friendly, drinks were very strong and lots of bugs, a lot of loud Spanish music blaring throughout the day..seemed to play the same music..if you are not a cat person, might want to stay clear…lots of them..we had 7 on our deck, one morning. Dreams Flora Resort and Spa: Fantastic Resort

The grounds are beautiful and clean. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the food is good with lots of variety. This was our second time in two years coming to this resort and we loved it the second time as much as the first. Would highly recommend the Dreams Flora.

Everything was fantastic from check in to check out ! Staff amazing , rooms were beautiful! Great service from butlers to drivers , cleaning service , waitresses , bartenders pool staff ! We had swim up room and was amazing Great food great service great friends Cant wait to go back Highly recommend

The Lobby is so spacious and open, bar tenders at the lobby bar were fast and super friendly, everyone was always happy and smiling. The buffet is really big with so much variety of food, Radaisy and her crew were so awesome and helpful with our 2 birthday celebrations. This report was amazing, beautiful beach, friendly staff. They are kind and welcoming.staff did their best to make your needs be met.I celebrated my Mom 65th birthday and they staff made a a memorable time especially Radaisy she was so helpful. For our breakfast every morning Jhongelin made sure we have everything and always checking up on us. For the pool bar our bartender was amazing Luis Carmona. He made sure we always have a drink in our hand

Ocean Blue and Sand: Don't waste your money - Would not go back to this resort

Nothing but trouble from the moment we got into our room. Air conditioning didn't work, TV broken, sliding door wouldn't close and app for dinner reservations wasn't working. Took 3 days and 2 complaints to the front desk to get someone to fix A/C. Spoke to guest services and she got the manager involved. He offered us a new room and "Privilege upgrade" for our troubles. After being locked out of our room that we needed to get into to pack up and move to the new room (maintenance had to come dis [... read more]mantle door lock and reprogram so we could get in), new room had more problems than the first. Most of the upgrades that came with "Privilege" we didn't get and the room we were moved into had less amenities than our first. It was a downgrade rather than an upgrade. They were supposed to plan something for my husbands birthday as part of this "privilege" and all they managed to execute was a banner on our door. The special restaurant for his birthday didn't acknowledge us or his birthday and we left without anything special happening. I have been to several resorts in the Dominican and I would rate this a 2 out of 5 and that is being generous. Do yourself a favour don't waste your money on this resort. The lawns looked nice since they worked on them from morning to night every day and outside of the buildings were getting a fresh coat of paint everyday but they should take some of that budget and work on keeping rooms functioning. This was not the place for rest, relaxation or most of all DE-STRESSING - its the total opposite. Many others we talked to there had issues with their rooms and with the app. So if going by looks is your thing and not function Ocean Blue and Sand has got that.

Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana: Great/Bad

Just got back from this resort have stayed here three times in past years. First time great Dennis the best Butler you could have attentive. Second time it was due to Air Canada strike ruined plans to Europe we settled for what we knew. This third time here a last minute trip as we canceled Italy due to flooding and protests we came back to what we knew again had heard the resort had renovations done and better now. The food ok again but we got sick last day diarrhea and vomiting gonna say it was probably the salad we did eat that and I don’t normally as I advised by friends that salad washed in regular water but you can’t brush your teeth with it?? Been sick for three days now had to miss work and also fell outside the same coffee shop due to water again same knee in pain again. Reported the incident to Butler he said to go to guest relations but after reading reviews of guest’s that had been injured and the horrible ordeal they had reporting the incident I decided not to go through with it. I was not going to leave the resort pay for cab to hospital when they say not safe to leave resort. I mean marble floors everywhere!! They need a designated person mopping up water outside that shop or a rug. Somebody’s gonna get badly injured there. I seen several people slipping throughout the resort almost hitting the ground. I hope they take this review serious and do something about this risk. The beach wiped out apparently by rough seas just before we got there. I mean it happens they had a break wall in place ocean still beautiful. The amount of non guests walking up off beach and sitting in the diamond club beach area no bracelets getting free drinks and food maybe family and friends?? I noted one security guard on beach one day he walked by never seen any the rest of trip.The amount of merchants trying to sell you everything from massages to hair braids to jewelry and wooden carvings is crazy!! Then you go back to your room and get staff badgering you to book things?? It’s nuts!! I feel it’s not a vacation anymore. The shows usually posted somewhere now it’s word of mouth by staff. Used to have a show every night. That has turned into movie about americas best singers and a pirate movie.There was a heavy rainfall one night took out the front entrance of the Dorado restaurant that was the main restaurant for the hideaway guests where we were but they repaired it over 24 hours!! Impressive!! The pools including swim ups water levels very low below filtration levels. I would say some of the staff make your stay welcome and the sunsets amazing but for the price we paid and that was a last minute deal as we had originally booked to go to Europe again but unfortunately there was flooding and protests so we opted to what we knew again. I suggest if you go here take regular room not in Hyde away area don’t pay for diamond club as its not managed and the Hyde away pool small and packed with guests not managed by staff either. The pool water in all pools is like 38 degrees. I suggest get in the swim up pool to cool off that’s where we went. The room service menu has little food on it and used to be 24 hours at royalton but now until 11 pm..Pay as little as you can for this resort otherwise save your money go somewhere else. Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Great Family Resort

Our stay at dreams Onyx was a great experience overall, starting with Airport pick up. It was a nice surprise to see newer transit vehicles versus the traditional big bus. When we arrived, we were greeted and had a seamless check into our room. The staff at this resort is fantastic. The only disappointing part of this trip was the arcade, when booking an all inclusive resort based on a family stay you assume games and such would be included just like the water park is included. Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Great Holiday Getaway!

We really enjoyed the hotel. Definitely a bonus having the option of the adult side while still being able to enjoy all the amenities across the resort. The staff were great and really took care of our needs.

Grand Bavaro Princess: Good Resort, Very nice resort

Amazing beach with very little seaweed, great food and selection, also guest services was helpful Only critique is the buffets lacked service, you just walk in and find your own table which was weird
