Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Love the Sanctuary!

I have found my little piece of heaven in Cuba. ♥️ Everything is better than expected. Second time to this resort and there will be a third. This resort has the most professional and impressive friendly food manager too that introduces himself to everyone. Such a credit to this resort.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Wonderful Trip!

Wife and I travelled in Nov 2019 - staying 7 days at Sanctuary. We occupied a room on the 3rd floor of building 59. Resort was great value, and the food was very tasty. Lots of great flavours and variety. Many options throughout all the different a la carte restaurants, and buffet. Beer was always ice-cold, rum was dark and the drinks a plenty. Often ran out of the disposable cups around the pool, so bring your own refillable mug. It's better for the environment anyways. The hehe or no-see-um's [... read more] sucked. We got bit a lot. It was not the first time this has happened in Cuba for us. We didn't bother with Bug spray, that may have helped? Lavender & coconut oil came to our rescue. Beach was lovely. Waves were fun, water was clear & sand was beautiful white. Pool at Sanctuary is amazing. Best in the Caribe. Book a trip here, you will not regret it.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing week in Cayo Coco

The Memories Caribe hotel was well kept with beautiful gardens, rooms cleaned daily and the food was pretty good! We stayed in a newly renovated room and the only complaint was it had no bathroom door. I had bought a shower curtain and brought some just a drop and it worked pretty good. The beach was absolutely stunning and you could walk out quite far. There are sand flies and I did get a few bites. Bring some bug spray for the beach and evenings. We took a trip into the town of Moron for the day and hired the fellow that was out front of the hotel to bring us in his 57 Chevy.. It was a GREAT week in Cayo Coco. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Nice resort

Memories Flamenco is a nice resort with a good beach and good amenities. Lots of chairs and huts on the beach - we never had to rush to get one. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Food was fine - we went to the buffet every night and were able to find something to eat. We would look around, pick what you like and have the guys on the grill heat it up/stir fry it. Lighting in the rooms could use some improvement. Beautiful view of the ocean from the second floor of building 3. Resort is a perfect size making it easy to get around from beach to pool to restaurants.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Wonderful service, tired resort....

Before I get into the nitty gritty of the resort, I wanted to preface my review by saying that the staff here are absolutely wonderful. Everyone was extremely friendly and eager to please. Also, the beach is hard to beat - the water is beautiful. Unfortunately I found the resort to look a bit tired... It could definitely benefit from a coat of paint in all the rooms and restaurants. Our room has scuff marks and hand prints on almost every wall. Our bathroom had an odd smell which I attribute to [... read more] what looked like painted-over mould on the ceiling (in the corner). Our bathtub was missing the drain plug which was disappointing when I went to try and have a bath. The water is rarely warmer than lukewarm which is pretty unpleasant to shower in... Many of the a la carte restaurants had very sad looking decor and extremely battered light fixtures and tables/chairs. Our fabric napkins had paint on them in almost every restaurant we ate at. The food is mediocre - we only ate at the main buffet once as the food was really not good. We chose to eat at the Sanctuary's restaurant for breakfast and lunch every day which was usually pretty good. A few times I had rice that was completely under cooked. The only 2 a la carte restaurants that I would recommend are the Oriental and the Sanctuary's Paradise restaurant. The restaurants were out of bacon by our first day there, out of tomatoes and tomato sauce by the second day, and out of champagne/sparkling wine by the third day... and they did not get any of these items back in stock before we left. I know that this resort has a very high repeat customer rate, and as far as Cuba goes, it's not bad... however I would much prefer a resort elsewhere that doesn't run out of food for days at a time and has rooms that don't look like a cheap hotel... Did I have a good time still? Absolutely. I go for the beach. The food was mediocre, but the beach and the good service we had definitely helps to counteract the negatives.

Grand Memories Varadero: Good resort!

The resort was nice, very clean, only downside was the lack of choices for food. Customer service was amazing, changed rooms when we asked for it. Staff was amazing super fun. Pools were clean and crowd was mix of ages.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Things have changed.

We came back this year because it was so peaceful and laid back when we visited last year at the same time. The staff were wonderful, and we were happy with the food and the beach again this time but.......our tranquil pool bar was taken over by rowdy, foul mouthed yahoos intent on forcing their disruptive noise on the rest of us. Perhaps the price reduction played a part. Hell....we were very happy to pay 200 bucks less this year too! We like to do a little day drinkin' and have a few laughs [... read more] with new friends, but it really got stupid when the sloppy drunks started writhing around on the bar we had our drinks on. Hopefully we just pulled the short straw time wise and Sanctuary is still the best bet in Cayo Santa Maria. We may give it another chance...but maybe not.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Ok resort

We stayed at the grand memories for 2 weeks, the weather was amazing!! I’ve been to cuba over 40 times and this resort was not what I expected at all. They let the other two resorts come to this buffet which made it total chaos, we pretty much waited till it was closed and went in and got some scraps! We never complained because we just couldn’t be bothered. The room was ok, pretty musty but I had fabreeze. Some staff was ok but not near as friendly as other resorts I’ve been to in cuba. [... read more] The snack bar is impossible to get pizza if it’s busy because it’s 1 guy working his ass off so we didn’t bother with that either. I felt bad for people with kids because there really were no snacks that were convenient for them......I love Cuba and will be back but not to this resort unless it’s a super deal.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Very pleased!

This was a great hotel with friendly staff. The rooms were very clean but unless you were in the diamond club there was an empty mini fridge. The entertainment was amazing and the beach was gorgeous! The food wasn't the greatest but most know going to Cuba what to expect. All around great trip

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Superb beach !

This resort was perfect for a 5 night stay with my 9 year old granddaughter. It is very well set out, and from our room in building 1 we were close to the beach, the lobby and the lovely pool, also to the noise from the nightly theatre shows, which finished by 11. Our Nov 9-14 stay was low season, so no problem finding shady palapas. The beach was wide, the water was very clear & quite shallow for the first 10 m. or so, great for kids. The downside was the buffet, mainly the fact that most di [... read more]shes contained meat, fish ham &/or chicken. It's not difficult to have a chickpea salad without ham ! If we had been staying longer I would have asked the chef to provide a few more veggie choices, and I'm sure he/she would have. I found that many of the staff spoke very little English or French, and even when I spoke to them in Spanish, they didn't seem interested in any kind of conversation. The hotel was only about 40% full, so wouldn't they want to at least earn tips by being somewhat friendly? Most were uninterested and aloof, even the SW rep. This was my first ''unfriendly'' experience in all my visits to Cuba. However the animation team who interacted with the kids in the evening were terrific & my granddaughter loved them.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Making memories in Memories Varadero

We absolutely loved the resort. Although the rooms left little to be desired, the awesome staff more than made up for it. Wee Laura Marie, our server in the buffet is as sweet as she is beautiful. David, Emmanuel and Roberto at the bar in the activities pool were phenomenal!! They took great care of us, and bent over backwards to ensure we had a fabulous experience. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Second time here

Very friendly people at this resort. A little disappointed with the food. Pool needed to be cleaned, by the end of our stay it looked green and we wouldn’t go in. Beach was beautiful. Rooms need a little updating. Our tub didn’t drain properly. Wouldn’t recommend at this time but would go back if they improved the rooms and food. The gardens were immaculate; well taken care of. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Ok at best

Service was good. Staff were friendly, but very limited supply of certain foods, drinks and bottled water for the room. Food was ok, I didn’t starve. Rooms were extremely run down, not cleaned very well and shower barely worked. Pool and beach were nice. I had diamond club, but there wasn’t really too many benefits other than the restaurant.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Our favorite Caribbean hideaway

3rd time back. What brings us back is that it not too big so you get to know staff and amenities. Staff are wonderful, beach is beautiful and the pool is very nice. We went to all the entertainment except the white party. our daughter had her wedding there and made us all feel very special. We had a junior suite the first day but switched down to a lesser room that had been renovated after the hurricane. It was very nice. The junior suite was in very bad need of upgrading. broken til [... read more]es, bathroom floor grout was stained badly and lots of chips and chunks of wall and wood missing everywhere. Only electrical outlets were in sitting area, none by the beds. luckily I brought a long extension cord to plug a cpap machine into. in both rooms there was mold in the bathroom that probably wouldn't take too long to clean up but it stayed the whole time we were there, and probably still is . alacarts and buffets were good Beach bars and snack bars were great but the snack bars sometimes ran out of different things. We brought tools , clothes, hygiene products, clothes pins, cook ware, a hairdryer, an electric sandwich maker, an unwanted tablet and a couple of old phones. all were greater appreciated. we tipped the maid , restaurant staff and bar staff but gave most of our gifts to the gardeners, other non room cleaning staff, staff that stock fridges and other staff that don't get much of any tips at all.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Excellnt resort

Hotel is one of the best in Cayo Coco, beach and pool amazing, restaurants and bars very good, excellent activities/programs on entertainment, rooms clean with A/C working well, perfect services on bar tenders, waiters, front desk personnel, etc. Very nice gardens, lot of flowers and bushes around bldgs. It is a pleasure to dream to go back....

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Beach beautiful, entertainment great, food really good

The beach was wonderful and there were lots of chairs and shade available. We liked the east end past the diamond club beach. Great bar and grill there that served everyone. Sand bar walk was a wonderful way to exercise and enjoy the turquoise clear water. The entertainment was great. Lots of live musicians and the dancers were pro’s. The pool parties were fun. The jazz music a highlight. The food in the buffet was plentiful and there were lots of choices. Beef, pork, fish, plantain, squas [... read more]h, potatoes, pasta etc. Morning omelettes were great. Churros were delicious and so were the pizzas and fries. Bar service friendly and prompt. Coffee shop is good cute and we had fantastic Spanish coffee there. Snack bar by pool was a fun place to hang out as was the bar/ coffee shop/piano lounge by the lobby. A’lacarte meals were good. Decor a bit tired in Mediterranean restaurant. Grounds are well kept and attractive. The lagoon on the property was pretty with the 1 flamingo and turtles. Also Fico the pelican was entertaining. There were some friendly cats on the property. They look pretty healthy. We did see one mousing under some bushes. Doing his job. Our room was upgraded with a lovely tile shower and counter mounted sink. Hot water was plentiful and we were supplied with clean towels when needed. The ladies who cleaned did their jobs well. We did have a few things go missing while we were there. A pair of sunglasses, a hat and a baseball. Not sure who might have them. Another tourist or a local? Who knows. The baseball did disappear from the room. My room mate had a case of the trots from the food and I had a day or 2 when I came home. So common for tropical environment and our spoiled guts. I have treated with Imodium and pro biotics and all better. I would definitely go back. It’s not a place I would recommend for the younger crowd unless you take a bunch of peers with you, as average age seemed to be 35 and up. Mostly French Canadian, Russians and Anglo Canadians at this resort.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing resort and staff

This was my first trip and I have to say hands down the best staff and entertainment I have ever seen I have been to alot of gitels and have never been treated like family. The food was great the drinks were cold and everyone could speak about 3 to 5 different languages. This made my trip better cause I dont speak anything but english and i was worried i would have a hard time. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Best Cuban resort ever

The beaches were beautiful. The grounds were well kept. The lobby bar was huge. The staff was amazing friendly. I’m not sure exactly, but I’m almost certain this is a swingers resort. I travelled by myself and I got picked up by couples. I had a lot of fun if you know what I mean. Ménage a 3 😎😁

Beach was beautiful and so were the grounds. Loved the entertainment , they were exceptionally great. Food was good and the rooms were nice enough.Pools were clean and the Cuban people were very nice and helpful. I liked the layout of the resort.

Grounds are clean, flowers everywhere, dining room organized. Food was good, variety of drinks available all the time. The resort organized for people's comfort. Every night entertainment ready after dinner.
