Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Good experience, service not so great

The hotel overall was beautiful, well-kept and offered much tranquility and relaxation. The spa was offsite as was the gym but relatively close by. The service, however, was lacking and was not up to the Royalton standards. I felt that I was ignored most of the time. The food was also limited in selection as well as lacking in flavour. I have been to other resorts in Cuba and the food was not very good. Overall, I don't think I would return to this hotel.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Had a great time

Amenities, food and drink selection, and cleanliness was great. Staff was welcoming. However, daily room up keep or room service was lacking or very slow. Would visit again easily, one word of advice the beach was not the best for swimming.

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Comfortable Resort!

When we checked in, we were given a room on the second floor and facing the back. Although at the time of our booking we specifically asked for a pool view room. The room had an old rusty small fridge in a small desk. The bathroom had a broken toilet paper holder. Not what we were expecting in a five star resort. After complaining to the front desk we were told we could switch rooms in 2 days, which we did and the room was much better with a pool view. The resort itself was good; however on [... read more] a number of occasions the fire alarm kept going off as we were having breakfast. It was very loud and annoying. A week into our stay there was a water leak in our closet with water running down the wall. On the last day we were having a lovely steak dinner and half way through there was a power outage so we left the restaurant! It was fair but we had expected a better experience.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Loved the atmosphere and people - Not Celiac friendly.

Overall we really liked the resort! They have extremely friendly staff, Eric and Ximena were very accommodating. If we had any issues with the rooms, they were eager to help us immediately. The resort had a good gym with a great schedule (for those who like to stay active). I took tennis lessons with Christian and they were AMAZING - he was an incredible coach. We upgraded our room from the lagoon view (it was stinky and gross) to the ocean view (which is facing the pool, not the ocean) - we loved the rooms here - they did not feel dirty and they were very modern. The spa was beautiful - it was over-priced, but we really enjoyed our massages and the whole experience. BUT there is one reason why we won't return... 1.) I am a celiac and we chose this resort based on the high reviews for the food. They ask if you have allergies at every restaurant, but as soon as you say yes, you see their face drop...I was very limited on options because the staff hadn't been educated on Gluten/Gluten-Free options. One night we had a romantic 5-course lobster dinner on the beach, 3/5 of the courses the server put in front of me had gluten. I had to ask multiple times for them to check and the server assured me it was gluten-free... then the chef came out and was appalled that I had a puff pastry in front of me. Needless to say, I was sick the whole trip :(

Royalton Hideaway Blue Waters: Ok resort

When we arrived at the hotel we did not have an assigned room. After waiting 45 minutes we went to the front desk and got a room on the 6th floor that was joined with another room. The room was clean but not kept up very well. First night, at 3am I had to go to the front desk because the people in the room next to us had the tv on so loud that we couldn’t sleep. The front desk did not do anything about it. At 4am my husband went and finally the front desk called the room to turn the tv off. In [... read more] the morning we requested a room change and they told us that it would be ready at 2:30-3:00pm. So at 3pm we went and were informed that the room is not ready yet. After a few trips to the front desk, around 6pm, finally got a different room on the second floor. I should mentioned that this was a family vacation and we were traveling with our 11 month daughter and a full size stroller. When we were trying to move all our stuff to the room, we realized that the second floor does not have elevator access. So now few times a day we had to carry the stroller up and down a flight of stairs (not really An ideal situation when you’re on vacation). I thought that this was very inconsiderate of the hotel. Our new room had no blowdryer, bathrobes or scale which the hotel advertises is included in every room. We also had to ask for towels as our room was not cleaned when we returned to put our daughter for an afternoon nap. The beach is small but nice. We were able to find an umbrella for the most part. The pools were nice too. They have an adult infinity pool, family pool and a splash park. There were only few umbrellas in the pool area and were always reserved with towels which was really ennoying! I think the family pool should have more umbrellas to provide shade for the kids. Overall the food was good. The steakhouse was the best, followed by the buffet restaurant. We tried the Italian restaurant for lunch but we found the food to be too salty. Opa, which is the Mediterranean restaurant has pretty good food as well. The Mexican was ok but we waited a very long time to get our food. I really enjoyed the entertainment. There were a lot of activities offered during the day and the evening showed were amazing! The staff was very friendly and attentive. Overall I would rather pay a little extra and stay at Blue Waters which is next to white sand and is a newer resort with access to both resorts.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Amazing resort

This is a beautiful resort. The rooms are clean with comfortable beds and are cleaned promptly each day. While there was some seaweed the beaches were cleaned and there were plenty of chairs both there and poolside. We ate at a la cartes most nights and had no trouble with only brief wait times. The food was excellent. We did not go diamond club and did not feel we were missing out on anything.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Best resort in Varadero

My boyfriend and I just returned from our 3 days vacation at Royalton. It was his 2nd time in Cuba and my 9th but the first at Royalton. It was such an incredible experience for both of us. Very clean resort, excellent food. I miss the king size bed and double sized tub. Loved loved this place and can’t wait to go back in February or April. This time we will bring family with us.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Disappointed

We stayed at the Royalton Cayo Santa Maria from December 8 to December 15. The hotel was nice, but could tell it was run down after their last hurricane. We had a cockroach in our room mutliple times, and the food was just horrible. We never had one meal that was warm, always cold, stale, and very limited selection. Royalton Hideaway Saint Lucia: Not quite 5 star

The hotel feels and looks still new; the staff are kind and helpful; the beach was adequate; and the food was better than average. However, I’d give the Hideaway at Royalton St Lucia lower marks for the following: The trip from airport to resort is 2 hours up and down hills, switchbacks, and through heavy local traffic; and, the bus had no music and no interpretive presentation to learn about the island and pass the time. By the time we arrived (about 7:30pm) our butler had left for the day (shift ends at 7:00pm), so no special orientation was given about our guestroom nor the resort. The Diamond Club service/butlers were slow to respond initially, but then things got better as the week went on. One of our party was not given his butler phone for 2 days, despite celebrating his 50th Bday the next day of arrival. Don’t bother saying what special occasion is that you’re celebrating as you won’t get any recognition unless you buy the hotel’s Birthday Package. The adult Beach area is unacceptable - everyone is squished into the North end of the beach with hardly any sand space and the shallowest of water (thigh deep). Any real swimming needs to be had in the family section. The beach chair covers and umbrellas were left torn and or broken for days, or not repaired at all. The beach was never combed for garbage (fruit chunks, banana peels, rib bones)in the adult area. Unfettered feeding of fish with people food in the shallow waters made it feel like swimming in a stew. The coffee machine in the Diamond club lounge was incomprehensible, even some staff did not know how to use it. There were never any serviettes with the snack service in the Diamond lounge. Liquor bottles were left sticky. Dorado restaurant for Diamond Club members was lovely; however twice we encountered serious frustration from the servers in the Grazzie and Tex Mex restaurants. The Martini bar (main bar off the entertainment area) ran out of martini glasses on a Saturday night - not cool. The entertainment troop is talented and professional, although watching the same performers 7 nights in a row gets a little repetitive despite the varying dance numbers. Sometimes the pre-show performances were better. The excursion to the Pitons, mud bath, snorkeling and waterfall was ok, but I expected more. The mud bath is very small, and very crowded, again like a human stew. The snorkeling was below par as it took place off a beach rather than at a genuine reef. The waterfall was also very small and overcrowded - no wow factor. Lunch in Soufriere was very good however. You won’t miss much if you don’t go on this tour. The trip back to the airport again takes 2 hours. Going home, the bus picks you up at Noon, and the buffet doesn’t open for lunch until 12:30. How convenient for the hotel to save on the cost of a box lunch for our upcoming 2 hour voyage back to the airport. Paid too much for this trip.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing resort

Loved everything about the resort. The food, staff, kids activities everything was excellent. The facilities and gardens are well maintained. Pools are clean and plenty. Dont need to reserve anything.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Overall a good Resort

Just spent the weekend at this resort. The resort needs some renovations. I would not consider this resort as luxury. Buffet food is OK. A la Carte Restaurant, food is not that great. I would recommend this hotel as a 5 star luxury but a 4.5 instead simply because rooms and swim out pools needs to be upgraded.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Love love love this resort

One of the best resorts I have stayed. Normally not a fan of Cuba but this resort is top notch, we got married here and will return every December for our anniversary. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. Laurie

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great resort with a great beach!

The Royalston was a great resort. We were on a 4 day mini vaca and it was the perfect size- not too big and the Beach was nice and close to the rooms. The staff was fantastic and the food was some of the best I've ever had in Cuba. There was an unfortunate sulfer smell around the pool a couple of times, which wasn't great, but overall, wasnt a huge issue

stayed in HIdeaway. Good service good drinks and good food. Entertainment was excellent during day by pool and at night with great shows. Nice room although construction is next door the doors kept out the noise. Room service a bit slow but then it is a big resort. Premium drinks never ran out unlike many resorts where they are limited. The only thing is you have to watch them to make sure they use the premium brands you ask for or there is a 50% chance it will be the wrong mix. Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Royalton Bavaro was beautiful!

An amazing resort, with well manicured grounds, multiple pools, beautiful beach, a fun lazy river, lots of activities for young and old, and delicious food. Staff was friendly and always ready to help you when you needed it.

Royalton Saint Lucia Resort and Spa: Nice resort but not worth the extra club for the Diamond Club

The hotel is very nice BUT, we paid extra to stay in the Diamond Club and you don't get your money's worth. Food at buffet was ok, meals at restaurants were great, room service food was horrible. We booked a king size bed but got 2 queens and because the TV was mounted so far from the beds, we couldn't watch it properly. There was no TV mount to pull it out and swivel it so we could see it. Beds were hard, no pillow top. Pillows were flat and hard but you could upgrade in the Diamond Club so  [... read more]we did that. Beach are was supposed to be reserved for us in that area but other people came from other parts of the resort early in the day and took the chairs on the beach and stayed there. It was not patrolled for that. Men trying to sell you excursions was incessant and would not leave you alone. Pool on the end of the building where we stayed in the Junior Suite does not get sun so it's freezing all the time. Like doing a polar bear dip. Curtains were hanging off the sliding doors and there was a huge rip in the screen door. Bar/fridge ares there's only beer, water, pop and juice.......no alcohol other than that in the room and no snacks like other resorts. You had to leave your room and go out for other alcohol and buy things yourself like pretzels, chips, peanuts, etc. For the Diamond Club.......you sure don't get luxury. I've spent $2000 less and got a more luxurious room in Mexico.

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: A rare gem that has it all ..if Hip-hop and Rap were banned

This was our 3rd visit to Jamaica and the first in Negril. The reviews for Royalton Negril met our expectations for price, beach, hotel and room comfort & upkeep, food and service. For the first time in a decade we were not disappointed with any of the above! Price was most competitive of the mid-luxury resorts and gave you better value. 2. Speedy reception which actually commenced while on the bus ride to the resort! 3. Great hotel with a fantastic panoramic view of the bay from the huge lounge area on the 1st level. 4. Food is excellent no matter where you go.No reservation is required for the restaurants with exception of Zen (Japanese). Resort even has a Sports bar that serves Pub style food! 5. Our room on level 2 was large, modern and clean with comfortable beds, a Jacuzzi bath and a fantastic view of the bay! 6. White sand beach along the entire bay. Swim all day - No low tide effect - absolute heaven!! 7. Nexus Tours at the Hotel also does Scuba excursions from the hotel. Although I hope they improve the diving experience with seasoned dive masters. 8. Front desk and customer service was great. 9. My sincere thanks to David (Hideaway Front desk), Madonna (Guest Services), Keisha (Travel Smart) and Oraldo the singing cowboy (Buffet) who in their own way made our stay even better! The staff at all of the restaurants were friendly and always helpful. Cons: Not much was lacking at this resort apart from.. 1. One and a half hour ride to the resort (but worth the travel)! 2. My biggest biff? Gangsta Hip hop and rap music which seemed to make the place cheap and nasty whenever it was being blasted out for long lengths of time from the pool and beach areas!! made us want to take off from the resort. 3. I could not understand why there was VERY little, if any, Reggae or Latin American music both of which genres are well enjoyed by ALL ages!! ....

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: Well worth it....

Spent 2 weeks (Nov 04-18) at the Royalton for my 50th birthday. What can be said that hasn't been said already? Fantastic resort and the people go out of their way to make sure you're happy. Good snorkelling right off the beach. Saw turtles, Sting rays and Octopi, Squids. All within the buoy line. Great food at all the restaurants, but for some reason my wife and I didn't like Armadillo (tex mex). Everything seemed like it was microwaved and sauce put on top. Best restaurant was Grazie. Oven bak [... read more]ed pizza and good pasta and risotto. You have to wait a bit longer to get your food but they're making it fresh. Make sure you got to the buffet on Mondays for Jamaican night. Food was to die for, especially the lobster tails. Night time entertainment was fun. Beach party on Wednesdays and the Michael Jackson show was great!. Our room location was wasn't the best. We were in Block 7, which is connected to the main lobby above. This location is convenient because it's connected to most everything. If it's raining you don't need to walk outside to eat. You can get to all the restaurants/buffet, and the lounge by going down the elevator. The problem with block 7 is that it faces the bandstand and after the night show they blast music until 1-2am. Good thing i brought my earplugs but if you're a light sleeper this block might not be best for you. Block 3 is the quietest at night (not during the day, it faces the kids/adult pool) but you have to walk to get to everything except for the Grazie restaurant. it's attached to Block 3 One more slight annoyance was the maid service/turn down service. At the latter end of our trip the maid seemed to arrive at the room very late in the afternoon (4pm). We had to turn her away a couple of times because we were getting back from the beach and she was showing up at that time. Also turn down service once came at 10pm. The people are what makes this place special. They work so hard to make things right and I'm sure they're under appreciated for the work that they do. Special thanks goes to Oraldo in the Buffet who made my birthday extra special, Alison, Shanika and Shakila. These 3 ladies made lemonade out of a messed up Birthday dinner. I can't thank them enough for making my night memorable (thanks for the belly laughs Shanika). Our experience there was a memorable one. Will definitely be returning.

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: Beautiful resort

The resort was amazing,the people running it to the tour operators The room was very clean and the swim-up was super,it was cleaned every morning. The food on the resort was fantastic the steak house hunters was off the hook.The beach was clean water was clear most days,had seaweed one day was cleared up by the afternoon.The ride from the airport was long but we had a driver that knew alot about the island and that made for a short drive.
