Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Worst long two weeks!

What can I say about Grand Murthu Cayo Guillermo? Arrived late at night, no one to help us to our room, went up and down three different floors and couldn’t find our room, no hot water first night, shortage of toilet paper, and towels, beds incomplete, buffet infested with flies and cockroaches, second week after many complaints from customers they started to spray. The smell was awful, we were bitten by mosquitoes . Public Toilets not working, many were closed! Why aren’t they fixing and upgrading? 🤦🏻‍♀️ They call this a 5 star resort? Worst longest two weeks I don’t recommend this resort! I do love flying with air Transat! Best airline and I recommend flying with that airline!

Hotel Playa Coco: Wonderful Time and Place!

Playa Coco is a great Hotel with exceptional staff, the best beach, good food and some very good entertainment. It’s just a short trip from the airport. The reception staff could be no better. Friendly courteous and professional. The bell boys Will and Jose are quick with a smile and provide fantastic service. The managers Sahily, Idel and Adriana go above and beyond to make sure your room is suitable and your stay enjoyable.The rooms are clean and spacious. The beach boy Ale works very hard to make sure you get your favourite spot. The bartenders are wonderful too and very good at their jobs. Hats off to George, Michelle, Michael, Raul, Jorge, Carlos just to name a few. My coffee ladies and wait staff are phenomenal! Thank you so much to Yolanys and Karrina. You make the best cappuccino’s! The entertainers do a fantastic job! Dancer Zambie and Yuner are amazing. They all are! Thank you to entertainers Alejandro and Giro for taking me fishing and thanks to the cooks who prepared the fish caught. Daniel provided twice weekly singing performances and got us all on our feet dancing the night away. Awesome job Daniel! Such a great and friendly place to make new friends! Lastly I would like to thank my maid Irma! She is the best! Can’t wait to go back!

Melia Cayo Coco: The best of cayo coco

Melia cayo coco is always the best the most fun and have the best staff I have ever met. Because of this I will always return many times through the year. The afternoons with the band and dancing are so much fun I literally stay for hours to enjoy with all of them. Can’t wait to go back in June to see everyone again. Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Disappointed

The main hotel lobby, dining areas, bar and entertainment area were esthetically superb. The pools, lounges, pool beds and pool bar were wonderful. The pier at the beach was well done. The tiny sand entrance to the ocean water was not sufficient. To have to go so far to get to the main beach was ridiculous. The snack shack had extremely poor service. Accommodations were poor. At first we were in building 01 which was too far for me, my daughter and granddaughters to go back and forth to the  [... read more]the main buildings and pools. There was no running water in my room. The toilet was disgusting- plugged with you know what. I asked to be moved to a room closer to the main area and with running water. This happened the next day at 6 pm. Very bad to lose a whole day. Compensation required. The new rooms were very nice- spacious and clean. They didn't have amenities such as shampoo and soap. Tripcentral would have known this beforehand and could have let me know so that I could have brought a bar of soap. Poor. An all inclusive 5 star hotel should have had a minibar stocked with water, pop and beer. This one had nothing. There was one bottle of water in the room and when that was gone I had to go all the way to the lobby bar to get a glass of water. They didn't give out bottles of water. Poor. The food was terrible and I'm not a fussy eater. Example- the bacon was basically raw and if you wanted it cooked you had to get in line at the omelet station. The main buffet area was nice but it was filled with flies. You had to constantly swat them off your food and that was a losing battle. I've never had to deal with this before anywhere else. The long lineups at the lobby bar were too much. One bartender most of the time and people ordering specialized coffees and specialized cocktails which take prep time. Sad and frustrating. The hotel staff were very nice. The desk people worked very hard trying to deal with everything and I give them a lot of credit. Generally speaking the resort wasn't ready to be open and this should have been communicated. There is no way I received value for the amount paid. This was my first time in Cuba so my expectation level was based on Cancun and the DR. I won't be going back. Note: I am not a fussy or difficult person whose expectations are high. I am no perfectionist in any way and I have never had to write such a poor review. The airline was terrific. Very pleasant flight attendants, nice clean aircraft and flights departed and arrived right on time. Full marks to Sunwing. Eliana at TripCentral was a delight to work with. She got back very quickly several times with answers to my questions.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Definitely Going Back

First time here and definitely coming back. Hotel and facilities are in great condition. Food was plentiful and lots of choice. Beach super. Followed our favorite friend and bartender from the Colonial here. His name is Liber and works in the Lobby bar. Met some other great staff Lilli, Jordani, Eileen, Jaime at Crillo Restaurant and George & Alexandro at Italian Restaurant. Reception desk staff were super helpful as well.

Sol Cayo Coco: Great vacation

The resort is still recovering from a hurricane 3 years ago and from Covid. Our room was dated but clean and although we hadn’t requested it we had a lovely ocean view and even were able to get wifi. The Buffett was fairly good though repetitive after 2 weeks! The staff in it were great and we certainly didn’t starve. There are obviously some shortages but that would be the same for any hotel. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful and the bar staff were also great. Whether or not I would recommend it would depend on who was asking. Some of my friends would love it and others might not!

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Wonderful new resort - Coral Level Iberostar

We stayed here for one week at beginning of April 2023. We flew out of Hamilton which was a real charm as this small airport is great and easy to get to from our home in Hamilton. Flights were good. We had a delay coming home but everything worked out fine. It's a long bus ride out to Cayo Cruz but it was at night, so we didn't mind. There didn't seem to be any way to figure out where to wait as we were all bunched up! Some people got upset that we weren't in the lineup! What lineup? The staff at the airport (at both customs and security) were more friendly and pleasant than in the past. It was a lovely new resort. The staff are all very attentive and friendly. Our room was huge! Our chambermaids (as they call them) were excellent. Betzy was the best maid! Every day we had fresh water, a fun decoration on our bed (butterflies, bows, hearts) and they were always there to help with anything we needed. We loved sitting in the Cigar Bar at night with the best bartender - Bryan! He was so friendly and great to chat with. Even though we don't smoke, we stayed there, because Bryan made us many different drinks to try! His 'Beautiful Girl' cocktails were delicious! The food was good in the buffet and in the A La Carte restaurants. Breakfast omelets and grilled cheese sandwiches on the grill were great breakfast treats! Our favourite was the banana appetizer in the Cuban Restaurant - delicious! The staff in the Lobby Bar were excellent as well, especially Diana and Michael. We loved having our cappucinos every morning there, relaxing and reading. We swapped out books in the small bookshelf in the lobby behind the Sunwing reps desk, so we didn't have to bring too many books with us. We had good pizzas one day at the Snack Bar and it was full for lunch! The staff at Customer Service were very helpful anytime we had a question or issue. Alex, our Sunwing rep was fantastic. He was always there to answer our questions and help us. We only went to the beach one day as it was pretty windy most of the time, but we saw the sun rise and it was lovely. The beach is narrow at high tide. The pools were nice. It was very hot when we were there and sunny every day! We visited the sister resort next door which is larger but we were glad to stay at the Coral Level where it was smaller and quieter. We brought many gifts for the Cuban staff and they were appreciative of everything. I brought nail polishes, lipsticks, macaroni, sandals, hair ties and ribbons, hats, candies, clothing, Tylenol and vitamins (which we gave to the doctor at the medical clinic), etc. We tipped with loonies, toonies and $1 American bills. Everything was accepted and we changed bills for change at the bar (for more tips) with them as they asked us. We met many other Canadians from across the country and that was fun! Overall we enjoyed our vacation and want to thank Kevin Dupuis at Sunwing/Trip Central for helping us plan our excellent trip!

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Cuba 2023

The beach, pools were amazing! The entertainment staff was absolutely incredible. The food terrible… ran out of the basics, bread, eggs. Food not cooked. The service staff were ok but ignored people. Drinks were ok but not consistent at all. At all bars except the swim up. Bar tenders at pool swim up bar were excellent. Overall rating is a 3 but only because of the food

Hotel Mojito: good resort if you enjoy peace and quiet

I enjoyed my stay its a great place to relax. Its a huge resort and could easily find a quiet spot all to yourself as this place is catered to mostly older folks the staff is very friendly entertainment here is not the best The cleaning ladies were awesome as the room was always super clean and the service at the buffet is very very slow as it seems that they don't really care for their job as I often had to beg repeatedly for drinks at the table. Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Will never go there anymore ,very disappointed

There was a lot of flies all over the buffet over the food seen some cockroaches around the food, had flies in my coffee, in my pasta, the food was not good at all, lots of mosquitoes,I have mosquitoes bite all over , the same with my family , we were 7 adults and 4 children ,the only good thing was the beach and entertainment.I don’t advise anyone to go to this resort. We were very disappointed.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Beautiful experience!

The workers are welcoming and kind. The beach is amazing! The resort's architecture is simple. Love the unlimited services, worth the price. Schedule is on point. Stable/hot weather. Resort room was well maintain, simple and beautiful. A la carte services was good. Grateful for the food they served a had. Mosquitos was a bit of a downfall.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Loved It!

We travelled as a group of 12. We had an amazing time. The beach was spectacular. Shallow waters but easy for swimming, wading and even snorkeling. Food was plentiful and lots of variety. Rooms were dated but clean and comfortable. AC always worked and lots of hot water and water pressure. Pools were clean and gorgeous. It was very windy when we went, which kept the "no see ums" down. We did have one morning when there was no wind and the biting flies were relentless. The only negatives I [... read more] have is the lack of variety at the snack bar. There is only ham and cheese and fries and they often ran out for periods of time. Entertainment was good and they tried but resort was not busy enough perform the way they would have liked. Staff were good, most not overly friendly but we wonder if it is due to burn out. We had read many reviews before going and honestly I have nothing bad to say. It is a well maintained, small resort with the most amazing beach. This is definitely the right resort for the budget. If you want modern and busy this is not for you. If you want a gorgeous place with a more laid back feel this is the spot.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: No complaints!

Hotel was beautiful, staff was super friendly, view was incredible, whoever told you that the food sucks in Cuba has too high standards imo, only thing I would mention is that the water for the shower wasn't super warm but other than that 5/5 for sure!

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Amazing resort

This resort is beautiful. It is brand new and beautifully laid out. Everything is close by. The beach is one of the most beautiful I have seen. The rooms are lovely. Our maid Misaily made sure the room was very clean. Check in went very smoothly. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Shout out to the staff at the the Allure beach bar, Yadier, Lazaro and Raul for the great service and friendly faces. The service was great but I didn’t get the name of the young lady that served us but she was very friendly. Idonys at the American Snack bar. Raudel at the swim up bar. There were some negatives as the buffet is not large enough to accommodate the guests and they were not at full capacity. It would be great if they put in another buffet. There also should be an area to do the kids entertainment . It was in the lobby which made it very crowded . They do lack food and wine was only in the ala cartes but they are doing the best with what they have. The mosquitoes were Terrible at night so bring repellent. Overall it was a wonderful vacation.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Beach was amazing

We chose this hotel for the beach which was amazing. The room was nice and clean, staff were great. Main complaint was the food and having to eat the same thing for every meal. The pool was always clean and lots of loungers.

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Beaches and hotel and staff great

The buildings are brand new. Everything works. The food in April week though is hit and miss. Snack bar does not have much food. Buffet has good and weird food. Excellent fish but scarce on some food. Seems food delivery is not constant. Friendly staff. Beaches are amazing with lots of sun shelters. 1.5 hours from airport. So consider that if doing excursions. Staying at resort to chill great. Doesn’t seem to be good for snorkeling. Best hotel. Food as usual for Cuba

Hotel Camino del Mar: Beautiful resort!

The beach, pool, and staff are awesome. Rooms are cleaned daily if you wish. Some of the toilets in the public areas do not flush so learn which ones do until they are fixed! The hard working staff do all they can to cook, clean, and accommodate requests as possible. Overall we had a great time. There are some food shortages at times (bread, pasta, baked goods, etc) but that is actually a Cuba wide problem as I confirmed with others on the planes and buses from other resorts. Although food sel [... read more]ections were limited and repetitive at times, anything we did eat was delicious. It is shown as a 4/5 star but I would say it is closer to a 3. But if you are looking for sun, sand, and relaxation it certainly does not disappoint.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Amazing resort!

We stayed at the club VIP section and the staff was very friendly. Carlos, Rossi, Adrianna, Laura and Irene were always there to answer our questions or have a friendly conversation. The rooms are beautiful. We also had room service.The beach is amazing. They had entertainment at the Lobby bar and on the beach. I enjoyed the Yoga and Zumba on the beach. Melia Jardines del Rey: 4th time there, will be back.

People fabulous as always, and one of the best beaches anywhere. Upkeep and maintenance ok. Still dealing with shortages which affects the food supply, so selection limited, and I guess access to pool chemicals. Normally the pool is crystal clear but they were struggling with the water quality this time. Bar selection and supply ok. Reduced show availability but they made up for it with group sing and dance.
