Barcelo Solymar: Resort is general is good; our room was bad!

Positives: location is right downtown, within walking distance of the local markets, rum store, clinic, local restaurants and live entertainment (Calle 62, Beatles Club), Dance Clubs (La Comprisita, Havana Club). Beach is awesome, food is average (always something to eat), A la Carte Restaurants are above average (Seafood, Spanish, and Mexican restaurant). Drinks are delicious! Hotel is clean, service is decent, staff are nice. We also had full access to the resort next door, Occidental Arena [... read more]s Blancas. We were there often as well. Negatives: our room: bathroom sink leaked for the first 5 days; hot water was luke warm at best (50 degr, not higher). No water for whole hotel for 3/4 of the 6th day due to repairs; Our safe was defective and needed repairs. I called the Service Desk multiple times for the sink leak to be fixed, but the mechanic never showed. They said to stay in the room and wait, but we were on vacation, and could only wait for so long..

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great family resort

Very family friendly. Beach was fantastic. Jr suite very close to everything, beach, pool, buffet, main building. Fun in the casino where only free wifi available. Food was good, nice variety. Would go back again!

Occidental Tamarindo: Our second visit was a disappointment...

This was our second year in a row going to the occidental tamarindo. Things have gone drastically downhill. There are next to no staff anywhere, so the service was very poor. Tables full of dirty dishes, long lines to the beach bar. Dirty and broken beach loungers. But the deciding factor as to why this will be our last visit was the food. It was actually awful this time. The meat and fish was at times inedible. Such a disappointment as we really loved this place last year. We will not be returning and cannot recommend this resort. 🙁

Barcelo Maya Palace: Beautiful resort

Six resorts in one complex. Each one is stunning by itself. Put them all together takes the complex up another level. The place is the largest resort complex we have ever stayed at. We were there for a week and still did not get to experience all the pools and restaurants. It's so big that it has it's own mall, casino and bowling alley. No reason to leave the complex except to explore other tourist destinations. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, as were the rooms. The king size bed was  [... read more]comfy, the bathroom was large with double sinks and separate tub and shower. The food was good with plenty of cuisine to suit everyone's tastes. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. We have been to 16 resorts throughout Mexico and the Caribbean and I would rate Barcelo Maya Complex at the very top of all of them.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: So much to do.

The resort is massive, yet you have everything you need close to you. We stayed at the Colonial but you have access to the other hotels. There is a lot to keep a family busy or you can sit and relax doing very little It is clean and service is excellent. You can get chairs in the shade at any time and the beach is great. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Comfort that is world class

This was our seventh trip to this beautiful resort and it is consistently a paradise experience. We went with our family and we wake up to beautiful sunrises with palm trees sparkling with rays of sunshine, glasses of fresh orange juice with an abundance of tropical fruits, passion fruit and pineapple, family favorites, to a medley of buffet foods for everyone’s tastes. We play  [... read more]paddle ball every day and games as a family, botche ball or basketball are family favorites, and of course some jenga. We head every day to the sauna and ice pools and steam room to unplug more before getting ready for a family dinner. There are many restaurants to choose from and we always live the Japanese restaurant for the entertainment and the food is excellent. The Spanish is another favorite as the Lambchops are always delicicious. If you are a big dessert fan you may find the sweets are not always the best , but a steady diet of fresh fruits 🍉 is more than enough. House wines are ok but if a wine buff spend the extra $ for a quality wine. We love their margaritas so a week in Mexico drink their drinks instead and you will be happy. Beers are good to with Coronas with lime: our sons go to. Are we going back? Absolutely next year is year 8 or maybe 9 : have to check but this is a spot our family calls our Mexican home. The staff are always helpful and responsive: customer service and keeping the resort clean are top priorities for health and safety. Bon voyage: you won’t be disappointed!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: second time here and love this place

It is a beautiful resort with lots to do. grounds are very clean and staff is excellent. all the restaurants are amazing. we had an ocean front suite and it was spectacular. the beaches are beautiful and very clean. the night time entertainment was great and atmosphere is fun

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Tropical dream Resort

The staff were amazing very helpful and nice all the time. The resort was beautiful. We loved the adult area and the snorkelling. Our room was perfect all the time. The buffets were always good and the restaurants were super good.

Occidental Punta Cana: Perfect get-awat

I was very impressed with the cleanliness of this hotel. There was always someone raking or sweeping or scrubbing or painting. It was well laid out with pools strategically placed throughout the resort. Both the pool and beach had ample seating. The pool was very clean and warm. The beach was beautiful. The beach was raked often and always has security. It was a wonderful holiday and we look forward to returning next year.

Occidental Punta Cana: Fantastic Resort

This hotel was fantastic! The food was great and the grounds were very clean. The beach was great to walk for hours. Pro's Close tot the airport clean rooms good food clean grounds beach was amazing Con's Wine is terrible Staff not warm and fuzzy not great for snorkeling as the waves constantly stir up the sand People on the beach trying to sell you all sorts of things and excursions Staff constantly asking if you want a massage Staff trying to sell you an upgrade to the [... read more] Royal or First Club Have to walk under water fall at the only pool bar on the resort

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Good Resort

The hotel is nice and decently clean. There will be little things here or there wrong that may bother you the first day but once you ignore the small things, it is actually a good hotel. One of those little things is that for example we booked with Colonial but when we got there the sent us Tropical. After talking to a few people that have travelled there, we found out that it is actually a common occurrence. Overall though it is a nice hotel specially for families with small children. I won't say this is one of the best hotels you'll ever go to but I will say, you will have fun.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Awesome place 😊😊😊

We stayed on the Adult Only side and were extremely satisfied with the room ...excellent view...the staff were friendly and helpful...the walk to the “Shopping Mall” was a pleasant 10 minute stroll(muchly needed after a great lunch) A great choice of restaurants to choose from for our suppers ( seafood,Italian,steaks,Japanese along with numerous buffets) We will definitely be back💝💝💝

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Relaxing time

We arrive at the hotel around 11:30pm check in was a breeze, our room was in the 5300's so we were close to the beach on the third floor, room was nice food was great never crowded at the Buffet, never had to worry about a chair at the beach the pool is were we sat most days I faced the beach my wife faced the pool, the staff was amazing,

Occidental Tucancun: Amazing experience!

The resort was great overall! Me and the 9 others that I was traveling with had a great experience with the food and service on the resort. The staff was wonderful, the bartenders took care of us and made sure we had an unforgettable experience, especially with Ismael and Max who catered to our needs all week long and made sure we were well hydrated and content!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Fantastic resort

The hotel was very clean, and well maintained. Lots of wildlife (flamingo's, deer, monkeys) Hotel situated by xcaret park. Lot's of activities. Plenty of food choice's at the restaurants. Food was very good. It was a wonderful experience.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great beach & food

The grounds, pool, beach, amenities, restaurants, casino, and disco were all really nice. The Golf course was in great condition and very easily accessible. the a la carte restaurants were the best I’ve had in DR. Having said all that, the rooms and balconies were not as advertised. Upon arrival our upgraded junior suite’s floor was soaking wet with hair and dirt pushed around by a mop. Was much tighter quarters than depicted online, even though the location by the beach was nice, I wou [... read more]ld upgrade another step. Room service is an extra charge!? Trying to order drinks to the room, they would limit us to 6x 8oz warm beer cans. Trying to stock up on cold cans in our fridge to avoid draft was impossible, and got hung up on a few times trying, even though we paid for it. Beyond that everyone was friendly and it was a really nice resort.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Expansive Resort

6 resorts in 1 large area. Lots of restaurants to enjoy, we ate at 6 theme and 6 different buffets. Beach area at Caribe/Beaches resorts were the best of the 6 resorts. Only issue they did not push the hand sanitizers on people entering eating areas during Coronaviros time frame .

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great customer service

Judy was very helpful in meeting all our needs of having a close golf course, beach, pools and restaurants. The alacarte food was great, we had the Japanese, Mexican and steakhouse. The casino was also great fun. Thank you!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great Family Resort

The property is beautiful and they have spared no expense in both building and maintaining it. Obviously caters to families and the set up is great for kids, with beach, numerous pools and easy access eating facilities. For parents, golf set up is terrific if you golf and casino is user friendly if you are a gambler. Would not necessarily recommend for adults with no kids, but they have an adjacent adults only resort. They have an army of staff but service is uneven at times.Buffet food was d [... read more]ecent but not great, which seems the norm at these large all inclusive resorts. The a la carte restaurants all have beautiful interiors but quality of food even there was uneven. Overall the four adults and four kids in our entourage had a really nice week.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing resort

People where great, food was excellent, my only problem was I could have flown from Victoria, and not Vancouver, I thought travel agent knew where I lived, and we asked for 2 beds and only got one.
