Sol Turquesa Beach: Wow

We loved everything about this resort. Our 9th time in Cuba but first time staying in Holguin. The staff is wonderful, food is surprisingly good and rooms are decent. Beach was clean and plenty of lounge chairs available. Would come back to this resort without a doubt!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Not Amazing

I have been to this resort many times, however; I think I just had my last visit. The staff was still wonderful and inviting, there were too many negative things. The grounds not maintained, tiles missing from bottom of pool, black grout on tiles in pool and smell from septic not pleasant. My room was not as clean as in the past, especially the washroom, light bulbs needed replacing (apparently a shortage). The food; last year there was no milk, bread/flour, limited fruit, vegetables, meats a [... read more]nd juices. This year we did have milk and bread, more of a selection of meats, limited to no fresh fruits and vegetables. I found all the meals were basically the same in all the restuarants, presentation was not what it was in the past. Very disappointed, I'm glad I didn't book 10 days.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Club amigo

Weather was great beach was great the people were great beer was cold rooms were dated food sucked but we didn’t starve pretty much as we expected but the beach and the people were worth it go on a buggy ride and see where the people really live they appreciate anything for the money you can’t beat this place just don’t expect too much

Brisas Guardalavaca: Awesome resort. Some changes to beware of.

The resort itself is awesome with a great view of the ocean. This is my 8th times being there, with changes happening all the time. One I wasn't impressed with was the snack bar. It can be hard at times to get a table in there when it's busy, now they want you to sit at a table and order your food instead of ordering at the counter for pizza , fries etc. Kind of hard when there isn't a seat to be found. When you sit at a table outside the snack bar the server says he can't serve you or your not [... read more] allowed to have food out there.. very frustrating. Not an improvement in my opinion. Villa reception closed definately not a great decision and hopefully they will reopen soon. If you stay on the villa and have to check in at the hotel or have issue you have to go all the way to the hotel reception. Pulling you luggage to and from the hotel is a challenge and not a plus. The staff is amazing and I would like to say thank you to them for their hard work and friendliness. Raquel in housekeeping on the villa side you are awesome always a smile and a good morning, Danni in the bar always a great conversation, Jesus in the hotel swim up bar the best, Daniel now in sales always a pleasure, Luis mario & Mario in the hotel buffet are great with a hug and a smile. Omar hotel security what a great conversationalist, Arasay the waitress at the bar by the hotel buffet always made us laugh and great service. Booked with trip central through Hola sun flew Air transat. Ease of booking with trip central was great. Hola sun Rep at hotel leaves something to be desired, not there 2 days out of the week and difficult to book excursion,. Air transat service needs some attention and not very friendly. Flight back to toronto was brutally hot and the smell of exhaust was unbearable. Will definitely booked with sunwing again next year

Playa Pesquero: Very clean and big resort

We enjoyed it, very clean, staff is very nice, a little crowded, but overall good food, specially in the A la carte Restaurant. Beach is nice, just got to be careful with some corals, and go early to get your chairs. Rooms and bathrooms all over the site are super neat!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Returning guest again and again

Club Amigo is a large resort with an amazing beach and good people. The hotel is older resort, with constant improvements. Villas are decent but hotel rooms are hit and miss. Main hotel is very noisy and it is almost impossible to sleep in or take a afternoon nap, cleaning staff are super noisy in the hallways during the day. It is clean and the staff work hard to keep things running as smoothly as possible. Service can be quite slow at times and patience is required. Food is lacking but as most [... read more] know Cuba is having difficulty at this time obtaining gasoline. Today you might have pasta and none tomorrow, one day ice-cream and none the next it all depends on what is transported that day. There is a great pizza place next door and very reasonable. Try Bennies Restaurant or the 24 hour bar (both located on the resort) for decent sit down breakfast as buffet can be congested at times. If you enjoy learning about culture and meeting Cubans this is a great resort. Lots of dancing next door at the boulevard and weekly parties there as well. Many returning guests that feel like Club Amigo is their second home. Club amigo is not a fancy resort, go with a open mind, take a horse and carriage ride, mingle and enjoy the beach and learn a little about the Cuban life. If you are a picky eater this is probably not the place for you. I recommend taking a cheap pillow as the pillows are quite thin. I love this resort despite some of the things I have mentioned, the beach is great, the boulevard parties are fun to attend and I always find something eat. Enjoy

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Always a great vacation

Jan 13th we were off again to club amigo guardalavaca for 21 days. We always book through trip central with karol always finding the best deals. This was our 12th time at this resort we were not as pleased with the resort as other times the food was same lunch and dinner almost all 21 days there we were glad there was some restaurants off the resort with awesome food. We also had no hot water for the first 9 days of our stay this was a first for us we got hot water when moved to the bungalow  [... read more]section. The staff as always was top notch and very helpful. We will continue to visit this resort.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Wonderful relaxing vacation

First I would like to say that don't believe all of which you hear form negative people, We first arrived and heard this was bad and that was bad , but within hours of us being there all of our expected disappointments disappeared . The staff was so very friendly , food was nothing but fantastic ( I brought a few bottles of condiments but only needed ketchup for my omelets, my preference) .Kitchen staff and greeters made you feel like you were walking into their home and I can not say enough ab [... read more]out the bartenders at the pool bar , they kept us laughing all day. The resort was close enough to experience the Cuban culture both the people the near by villages and an abundance of very affordable restaurants in the area, just a close ride by horse and buggy. Go to Club Amigo , we are going back!!!!!!

Don Lino Hotel: Worst experience so far.

Beach very bad. Moving sand and sharp stones. To go to a nice beach they ask 5 pesos. To go to the Guardalavaca Market we pay 40 pesos. You pay less for a stay but you spend a lot for a taxi. The food was boring. Short of milk. Short of clean plates, cups. No evening entertainment, only the band and not every day. Pina colada I had a chance to get two times! The ping pong table has broken.

Playa Pesquero: Resort is very pretty

I think Cuba is possibly having a hard time acquiring a variety of foods. Beef and pork dishes were tough to eat. Papaya, bananas and guava were good but other fruit was mostly canned. A little disappointing.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great resort!

Would say nice 4 star! Not 5 because food at buffet was repetative and cold unless you got them to cook fresh at certain stations. The a la carte's were really good tried all 4 of them. Hard to get reservations for them our Sunwing rep got us them because could only get one ourselves. 4 stars also because the beach is nice but only for snorkeling a lot of rocks. In food and drinks had no bananas or fresh pineapples used can. No orange juice either so couldn't make certain drinks on menu, along [... read more] with no amaretto which is on bar menu also. The grounds our lovely, staff is mostly good but sometimes service was slow in getting water, coffee, or a drink at bar. Nice and quiet resort being adult only. Never had problem getting a lounger by pool or beach, even chair in lobby bar area. Rooms are nice, great hot shower.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Amazing

Everything about this resort is amazing . Been here 3 times and would go back tomorrow if I could. Beach is stunning and easy to get to. Pool fun everyday with lots of entertainment and staff are excellent.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: A go-to resort!

Great resort! The beach is beautiful! We were here from January 19th to January 26th, 2020. The service was really great, the staff was really friendly and super responsive. Even if the building is not recent, it was super clean at all times. The resort is beautiful and huge. We're definitely going to come back!

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Amazing resort 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴

I have been to Cuba many times ,Jamaica Mexico and Dominican This resort has only been open Little over a year. very clean, modern, well laid out grounds snorkeling was excellent right off the beach food was good, staff/ butler were excellent: 5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Will return to this resort

Brisas Guardalavaca: Consistent Hotel

Been to this resort several times, villas are getting a little tired but more than sufficient, grounds are kept in good condition. Food sometimes seemed to be in short supply for ie. only one day in 7 were there any type of potato at snack bar which is to bad as there were quite a few children and looking for snack food, no condiments for several days also ran out toppings for pizza! Beach is great, lots of sun and shade! Would definitely go back... but feel that they are struggling.

Playa Pesquero: its a nice spot . wouldnt go any where else

the tennis was excellent there however they could spend a little to repair and maintain the courts so all. the facilities and all the other sports equipment can be used that they have at the same time....

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: great resort

everything was very satisfactory grounds superp staff super friendly Roomswhere a little tierd looking but very cleen Food and drinks where very good Pools and poolservice very good also the Beachservice was exelent

Brisas Guardalavaca: I love this resort

We boarded on time from our POD, Toronto, but due to snowstorm conditions and a passenger with inadequate papers our departure was delayed (onboard) more than 2 hours. We arrived very late at Brisas Guardalavaca. The check-in process would be so much more efficient if it’s done on the 1-hour bus ride from the airport (as in some other resorts). Unfortunately we had 2 days of h [... read more]igh winds, rain & extreme cold which churned up the ocean & littered the beachfront with a lot of weeds (I don’t remember so many weeds & rocks from previous stays there). As the hotel was ‘overbooked’, we were offered a ‘free’ excursion for one night to Gibara; the catch was that we were required to check out (and check back in the next day into a different room). We declined. *The Russians: although I’ve experienced their presence in Varadero, this was the first time I’ve seen so many in Holguin. Generally speaking they are loud, obnoxious rude & drunk from breakfast until night, when we could see the occasional Russian passed out at a table or along a pathway. Disgusting! Their presence here will deter me from returning unless some changes are made (ie; no longer permitted at this hotel). They are disliked not only by the other clients, but also the wonderful staff, who have to put up with such rude behaviour. The food at this hotel is very good & it’s always great to reconnect with longstanding chefs there, such as Miguel, Roberto & Enrique. A culinary highlight for me was fresh calamari one night at dinner (DELICIOUS!). I took a couple of pieces to taste, liked it, went back up to the buffet to help myself to a few more but the once very full serving dish was empty with no more available. As I went back to our table I witnessed a few ‘Russian tables’ with a mountain of calamari heaped on plates, then left behind as waste. It’s inconsiderate from my perspective but imagine how the Cubans would see this.... living in a country where occasional shortages and rationing may prevent them from always having enough... despicable!!! My room was clean and well cared for by my chambermaid. The shower head didn’t work very well though and the toilet was not solidly connected on its base to the floor. A leak appeared in the bathroom (from the ceiling) and the plumber & chambermaid came immediately to resolve it.... turned out to be condensation from the AC unit I had turned off when the weather turned cold; I was instructed AC must always be left on. Aging equipment is showing signs of wear. The staff works hard here... taking care of communal bathrooms, restocking toilet paper, cheerful & enthusiastic animation, pleasant entertainment, neat gardens. Overall, it was a nice restful vacation.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great value for the price

When we first arrived and pulled up to the hotel with the bus we thought oh no, what have gotten ourselves into. First impression was a little disappointing. The hotel is older and dated. However once you get past that, we found it to be a great place for a vacation. We found the food pretty good not excellent. Certainly did not starve!! Rooms and all washrooms were very clean. Beach is amazing. 3 pools, 2 with bars and music and one large Olympic sized pool that was quiet and amazing to do some laps or throw a ball. Would love to spend time with family and grandchildren there. Doesn't seem many people knew about it so you practically had the pool to yourself. Overall for the price I think it's a great place and the staff were very friendly.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Family loved it!

Just came back this week from the resort. Had a wonderful experience. Two adults With a 3 and 6 year old. Not a single complaint from the kids or adults :) both beaches beautiful, we got creative with the food and everyone always had something to eat at the buffets. Desserts were delicious and a big hit with people. At the busiest of times we never stood in line for the eggs and stir fry and pasta more than 2 min. Pool was incredible, night entertainment great! Kids LOVED the mini disco, as well [... read more] as daytime kids club. Kids club staff were AMAZING and we left the kids there twice because kids asked us to! Kids above 4 are included, but had to pay for our younger kid which was totally worth it to get some adult time for us. Splash park was a hit, even the parents were in there playing with their kids. The resort is walkable, even to the far ‘big’ beach was 10 min or so. There are frequent carts Driving people around and we took those for fun cause my younger kid thought it was fun. Or a single bug bite all trip including mosquitos :) we never put on bug spray. Not sure there is anything I’d change about the experience, for what we paid we had a fabulous and truly memorable time. Thank you Iberostar!!!
