Starfish Jibacoa: Repeat Guests

This was our 13th trip to this resort. The staff is by far the best asset. They work very hard and are very pleasant. We enjoy the small size, the beach and relaxing atmosphere. The room was comfortable and clean. We noted more food shortages this year - butter, milk, coffee, ice cream, bacon, cookies. Buffet was the same every day. We miss the a la carte and the repeaters’ dinner. The entertainment was repetitive. The clientele has changed with the majority being Cubans now. Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: amazing resort

resort was great good good plenty of it drinks good weather no rain only thing more shade at pools and they were cold need to be heated room was awesome very comfortable bed lots of hot water every day just had a great holiday

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great things: customer service, cleanliness, rooms, beach/snorkeling, coffees.

Barely passable: alcohol drinks (many ingredients are missing, never seen at the resort mojitos or conchancharas, for example; “orange juice” that is used for mimosas makes them undrinkable). Beer, gin/tonic, wines were always available though. Barely passable: food. Exactly one meat type available (chicken, sometimes pork) and one fish type (mackerel). Fruits - most days papaya, sometimes banana or guava. That’s it for fruits! Never seen oranges, grapefruits, mangoes, pineapples etc. The egg [... read more] situation was good, no shortages and that is a big plus. No bacon at all though. One edible ham, the other one looking like a flavoured carton box fibers is inedible, little wieners the same, but finer carton fibers :). One time there was no bread. Side dishes: sweet potato, two types of rice always there, sometimes potato, sauteed chard/vegetables, beans. They also have a special station that makes fried rice with vegetables. Salad ingredients are mostly good: tomato, cucumber, swiss chard, lettuce, sweet peppers, onion, cabbage. Watch out sometimes for not very fresh tomatoes though. Catchup, olive oil, sweets, ice cream are always available. Waiters/waitresses are very attentive and friendly. Beach loungers guys are treating distribution of loungers like their private enterprise. It becomes annoying if you come to the beach the second time in early afternoon and they make sure there are no loungers available so they can collect tips again. They should lay off a bit. There were constant scheduled blackouts outside the resort, but the resort itself didn’t experience it except for a couple of surges that didn’t affect anything. Entertainment was mediocre except the daytime Cuban band that plays on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They’re awesome! There is a new thing: they bring returning customers from all the nearby resorts to a special dinner at Plaza Pesquero (it’s not on Pesquero beach, it’s literally a plaza away from the resorts). They even had mojitos there! A couple of bands were playing, food/drinks were ok. Overall I wouldn’t go there a second time. Basically you are taken away for the whole evening and buses return to the resort closer to 10pm. I’m not sure why they do this, maybe due to a lack of entertainment options on the resorts? The returning guest dinner at the resort was just a failure. We were redirected from La Pinta beach restaurant to the snack back and there was nothing special about the dinner except the wait and the mosquitoes :) We were trying to get a paid lobster dinner but to no avail. It looks like you can buy a lobster dinner only outside the resorts now. Similarly, the situation with cigars is almost dire: SRLM shops had very limited selection of single cigars for sale, Almirante doesn’t sell cigars at all(!) and the specialized cigar shop next to Almirante had a couple of types only. Clientele: about 30% Germans, 30% Quebecois, 20% Cubans, 10% Ontarians, 10% Canadian Eastern Europeans. Overall I would still recommend this resort if you can handle limited and repetitive food/drinks.

Resonance Musique Marea: Strongly recommended

Resonance Musique hotel is a highly recommended destination. Rooms are renovated meeting standards of 5 stars hotel. Food is partially served on à la carte basis that provides good quality of meal. Access to beach with chairs always avilable is 50 m from your room. Service staff is every kind always ready to help. Here is an example. Playa Pesquero: Fantastic Resort!!!!!

We have been to this resort at least 8 times, from the moment you arrive at this hotel the service is excellent the staff are beyond helpful. The beach is stunning . No problems with black outs food or drinks shortages we had everything we needed what a pleasant stay. Janet at trip central is amazing to deal with could not be more helpful .

Brisas Guardalavaca: love it

I had a fantastic stay! The room was spotless, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the spa services. We loved everything!; I highly recommend for its cozy rooms, friendly staff, serene atmosphere and customer service. A big thumbs up!

Playa Costa Verde: Not great

The grounds were kept up. But the rooms were gross. Dirty floors. Bugs under the bed, bath room window didn’t close letting in mosquitos , geekos and cockroaches. Had a very long week with hardly any sleep. Was very happy to go home. I won’t return to that resort EVER!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Fantastic. Exceeded expectations

Having being in Cuba a number of times this was our best experience so far. The qaintness of this resort means everything was minutes away. Beach room and food. The pool is probably a bit small if it was full. Beach is great and short walk to really shallow and sandy spot. Lots of kite boarders on right beach provided entertainment. Fresh fish cooked at meals. Simple food but fresh and delicious. Great value vacation.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Another Amazing Trip to PRDO

This was our 7th time to Paradisus Rio De Oro and, as usual, it was amazing. What sets this resort apart from most in Cuba is the fact it is an adult only, quiet resort with phenomenal staff. Very friendly and helpful. They treat you like family here. Staff like Yamlet (Jami) make you feel like you are part of the resort. The resort was highly unoccupied during our stay. I was happy as you never had to wait for anything. At times it felt like the resort was just for you, but I felt bad for the s [... read more]taff. There is a "Royal" section to the resort but we have never stayed there. Many people who do stay in that section generally come to the main section to eat and play as they find it VERY quiet there. We stayed in a Junior Suite. Sure, the rooms are a bit outdated but they are spacious and kept very clean. The bathrooms in this section have all been updated over the last 4-5 years. There is a safe, small bar fridge that is stocked daily, and we had a king size bed that was very comfortable. The grounds are kept immaculate here and everything is sufficiently lighted at night. Because occupancy was so low, a couple of the a la carte restaurants were closed for a few days but there was sufficient food and a good variety at the main buffet, and it is good! If you go hungry here, you are far too picky. No, the food is not like you would get in Jamaica, Mexico, Turks, etc but it is good. We didn't notice any food shortages and for those concerned about power outages ... there were none. PRDO is absolutely one of our favorite places to stay in the Caribbean and we cannot wait to go back next year!

Sol Palmeras: Our Home Away From Home

We love Sol Palmeras! This was our 17th visit there and it's like being with family and friends, which is why we keep returning. The premises keep getting better and better. All of the guest rooms in the main hotel have been completed renovated. Constant improvements to the grounds keep it modern. A new bar is currently being built, scheduled to be completed later this year, and is going to be awesome. A new children's play area is nearly completed. There are several wonderful places to eat with very varied nd delicious choices of foods. All locations are kept very clean and pleasant. But, above all, the staff are all top notch! Friendly, professional, conscientious, knowledgeable and very kind. We had the honour of being married at Sol Palmeras several years ago and, because we still love it so much there, continue to return every year to celebrate our anniversary.

Melia Cayo Coco: Simply Amazing

Hotel is so welcoming! Spotlessly clean. The al a carte restaurants offer an incredible menu. Buffet has so many choices. Beach is beyond belief. Staff treat you like family. So many repeat guests each year.

Sol Palmeras: Our home away from home

The Hotel has done a lot of upgrades over the last 4 years. All the rooms have been updated and are very nice. The food was varied and plentiful. The grounds and beach was wonderful. The staff is excellent

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Excellent Resort

This resort is a little old, chipped paint, cracked sidewalks and such. That being said, the only issue I had was a sticky balcony door. The grounds are beautiful, flowers, palm trees, trimmed bushes everywhere. Lots of shade, The pools are nice and clean. The beach is beautiful. There were no vendors bothering you every few minutes. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. There was plenty of food. Not real fancy, but good. It is the perfect resort if you just want to get away  [... read more]and relax.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Grand Astor Beach Resort

The hotel itself, grounds and rooms were nice. The public areas of the hotel were well maintained and clean. Buffet food - served the same food everyday and shortage of food was very noticeable. Service at the buffet was non existing. You couldn’t get clean spoons, cups and sometimes even drinks. Buffet servers and waiters are not friendly at all. Our room was not cleaned until around 4 pm everyday and on some days we couldn’t get clean towels at all and had to ask for toilet paper. Front reception staff are not very friendly and if you gave a complaint, you have to wait in line to speak to someone from guest services as to t desk staff won’t help you. Entertainment was excellent and waiters in the lobby were good and friendly. Swimming pool floor is very slippery and need to be careful when walking so not to fall.

Starfish Jibacoa: Rapidly declined

Use to consider this place mini paradise but since last year it has become vary run down and poorly managed. Staff are all amazing but place needs some urgent fixing as value for the money is no longer. Rooms are moldy and musty smelling. Blood splatters from mosquitoes all over he walls, sheets and towels, boogers on the wall, paint peeling, mold. My room had no closet doors. Line ups at the buffet are just horrible and poorly managed. It was so crowed entire week that they had to close down dining room As it was at capacity on few occasion and run out of food items. Melia Internacional: A decent resort

Nice beach, red flag most of our week. Food not great, no pizza bar , minimal French fries, a la carts not the best, booze would be a 3 star. Lots of food, just not great food. No need to upgrade to level. Save yourself the $$

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Average resort

Not going to write a big text but to sum up, the value does not match the price I paid. Terrible service, bad rooms with broken doors, toilet and windows. No one speaks basic english there and they dont even care because I had many issues and had a hard time getting help. Food was average but we know it is Cuba. Dont recommend this resort unless you pay around 500 per person...felt more like a 3 star than a 5 star

Memories Jibacoa: Memories Jibacoa is our favorite all-inclusive by far

Amazing staff, amenities, food, and a feeling of being safe. We made friends there, and would happily return for another enjoyable trip. If you ever want to go to Cuba, this is the place to go. It is an adults only resort

Resonance Musique Varadero: Choose another resort

The one good thing about the resort I have to say were the rooms were nice. But....there was theft on the resort by security and staff as well. We even got it on picture and they still denied it. The food wasn't good at all. We were promised 2 a la carte suppers but when we got there, their were no availabilities in any of them but a $20 would get you in though. Fights on the resort (not the resort's fault) but security would look laugh and turn away.. guests had to break it up. You didn't f [... read more]eel safe at all on this resort. Very poor service, service staff were miserable, all alcoholic drinks were watered down. Many other complaints but to much to list.. I've been to Cuba before and loved it but now after this experience I will not return. Very disappointed.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: A great resort

Hotel was spotless.. staff good.. rooms spacious and beautiful.. ground beautiful, beach was nice very natural and food for cuba was OK.. lots of a la Cartes, butler service was an added worth while touch that we never had before.. thry went above for our anniversary, decorating room and they had a bottle of wine in our room and had booked us a special dinner for that nite.
