Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful resort

The resort was beautiful and the food was good. Nice buffets and terrific a la carte restaurants. There were lots of pools and the beaches were nice however there were waves everyday. The rooms were clean and our cleaning lady was amazing. Not sure I like the different coloured wrist bands, I felt like we were divided into classes.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Very Good

Stayed January 12 to 19, 2017. Was a very nice place to stay. Were welcome and any questions were answered promptly by the staff. Grounds and rooms very clean and neat. Food was very good with lots to choose from. Did have theme nights in main dining hall that were nice to see. The Brazilian al a cart was fantastic. The Mexican one only had one entree to choose from. Was quite windy when their so did not get to use beach. Were able to go for walk one day on beach and is very nice and  [... read more]clean at this resort. Spent most of our sun time near pool and was sheltered from winds coming off of ocean. Always chairs available. Would return again.

Riu Merengue: Needs a good updating!

We arrived at the Riu Merengue on a Monday afternoon and upon entering our room, all we could smell was must and mildew. The bathroom ceiling had been previously patched from some former damage and the mold was starting to come through again. The smell was awful and I have allergies. We went to the front desk immediately and said we couldn't stay in there. They told us they couldn't get us another room until Thursday. Then they said someone was moving out of their room early Tuesday, so we c [... read more]ould have that one when it was checked out. What really bothered me was they wanted us out of our original musty room early so they could clean it for someone else. Should musty and moldy rooms not be blocked off so they can be properly fixed before someone else has to spend a week there? The beds were so old and hard that we could barely sleep in them. They should have been discarded a long time ago. I know you aren't in your room much on vacation but if you wanted to watch TV, all the rooms still have a 20 inch RCA tube television. There were so many little things that we weren't happy with either. We've stayed at the Riu Montego Bay and we loved it. I don't know how this resort could possibly be placed in the same category or rating. The fridge in our Montego Bay room was stocked with twice as many items as it was in Merengue. The saving grace for the Merengue was the staff. They were so friendly and hard working. The grounds were impeccable. I am so disappointed that Riu doesn't deem it necessary to update the Merengue. My opinion of Riu has gone straight downhill. If we ran into these types of things in a cheap resort it wouldn't be surprising.

Be Live Experience Hamaca Suites: Boca Chica - Be Live

Food was so good! Wine, beer served at lunch and dinner, wow! There was a track that runs around the accommodation unit buildings that was so great to walk and exercise and so safe too! Rooms not well kept, sometimes cold to warm water in showers, hair dryer did not work. We didn't like the room, they changed it for us day after. I can't complain because they did as you asked. From singers and musicians just after the dinner hour, to full entertainment at 9:45 p.m. then going to the casino for more entertainment and then going to the Disco dancing all night. Wow! I would love to go back!

Riu Republica: Very Windy in January

Why no one did a study on the are to see if it was a good spot for a resort is a mystery to me. The winds reached 42km/h and would regularly gust up to 35km/h. I can understand a day or two, however the "Red Flag" indicating that you cannot go into the sea because of dangerous waters was out 10 of the 14 days we were there. Waves in the 6 foot range consistently. Why not invest in some walls or breaks in the water to control the waves? Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: The best we've been to!!!

The resort was amazing. We upgraded to a villa and we are so glad we did. The VIP is so worth the extra cost. Maintainence was never ending. The resort was beautiful and seemed like a zoo with all the wildlife that live there. We will be back!!

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Relaxing vacation

The hotel was very nice. Don't forget that it is a 3 star so don't expect a 5 star. The food was tasty and enough of a selection to find something you like. The blender drinks were yummy. The hotel was clean and right on the beach. I felt it was good value for my money.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: First time at an all-inclusive resort!

Overall pretty good resort! Clean and well maintained. Good service from all staff; very friendly, entertaining and welcoming. Food was good; lots of variety and the cooks grilled fresh meat/ seafood right in front of you every meal. There were also 3 a-la-carte restaurants that were decent. Rooms were mediocre. Pool was fairly big and clean. Beach was a little disappointing as there were lots of patches of large rocks in the water and the water was darker and at times more murky than the pictur [... read more]esque clear blue-green water you see in pictures. Mixed drinks were fruity and delicious, not great for beer or wine as they only have one local beer on the resort "el presidente" and a local red and white wine. Careful of the locals though! They're very good at hustling tourists!

Riu Republica: Terrible

The room we were in had all 12 air conditioner generators right under our balcony. We were told the garden room but it was more like the road, a place where they do laundry for the hotel and the 12 generators. I did not think the room was cleaned properly. The night before we left we had what I thought was ants all over our bed. After calling someone showed up and said they were not ants and they tickle not bite. I told her I did not want these bugs crawling all over me. She sprayed someth [... read more]ing and washed the floor and it made it better. The food was good but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Ocean Blue and Sand: A let down

To give an honest opinion the resort itself was good. Restaurants were good. Rooms were clean. I upgraded my room to privilege at the cost of $1000 Canadian. That is where everything went bad. The toilet didn't flush, shower didn't work. They took 3 days to fix the toilet, the shower never was. We never received any of the bonuses for the privilege upgrade, besides the access to the beach huts. Even after talking to the staff 3 times nothing improved. Was a total waste of money.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Enjoyable stay

It would be difficult to find fault with my recent stay at this resort. We have been to many resorts in the mid price range and this was the best. The food was varied and good. The resort was clean and welcoming. The smaller size meant less line ups and quicker service.

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Great resort !!

Very clean resort, excellent food, great service, would recommend this resort anytime. Quiet around pool area till 3 in afternoon but busy at the beach . Great beach for walks. Always food available .Great time !!!

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Amazing Resort!

My husband and I traveled with our two children ages 6 and 8. We all enjoyed the food, service and amenities. The kids club was great! The kids waterpark was perfect and kept the kids busy for hours. The beach was nice, clean and spacious as was the pool areas. Staff were friendly and provided great service. The entertainment shows were fantastic! Our room was very clean and spacious. We had a great vacation and I highly recommend this resort!

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Great resort grounds, great food, nasty rooms

The resort itself was beautiful, the walkways, restaurants, beach and pools, all lovely. The food at the buffet restaurant was delicious and there was always a good variety. We enjoyed the Japanese and Steak house restaurants as well. The bars served watered down drinks!!! which was annoying, but when ordering shots, the quality was better. However our room was not nice at all. The bathroom was old, with black around the tub. Every time the folks upstairs had a shower, there was water st [... read more]reaming into our room. Maintenance came to fix it, however there continued to be a smaller stream. The ceiling tiles were stained black at the edges, so this was obviously not a new occurrence. The mini bar was only restocked with soft drinks one or two days out of our stay. We resorted to taking water bottles off her cart when sighted. We had four staying in our room, so did not always have enough towels. When trying to sort things out with the staff, the lack of English comprehension was evident. It was difficult to know if your point was understood or not. We took the side trip to Saona island with Nexus tours. The guide promised only 1 stop on the way, after specifically asking how many passengers would our transport be picking up. He promised only from our resort. Well, it took over an hour to get to the one stop, as we stopped at numerous resorts to pick up passengers. Especially annoying since some of the passengers were not waiting, and had to be paged. Then, on the power boat ride, the boat traveling with us crashed, I mean crashed, into the side of our boat. Thankfully the guide was at the front of the boat and alerted my son to duck, or he would have had the point of the boat hit his head. Bits of fibreglass sprayed us, and there was quite a jolt. The lead guide laughed it off, but it was potentially a serious accident. Having said that, we did enjoy this trip, and would recommend it. Just keep your hands/arms inside the boat and pay close attention to the other boats. So all in all, we did not pay top dollar for this resort, and we were alerted by our agent that the rooms were older. We were able to not let the room upset us, and thoroughly enjoy ourselves. I don't think we will go back to DR again because my son and husband were sick with N/V, and out of commission for a full day each. It was a couple days before they were feeling back to normal. I would hesitate to recommend this place for fear of problems with the room, and the difficulty getting the staff to understand the problem, or come to a solution. I think I will forsake the bargain next time and pay for a better hotel.

very well maintained facility. grounds are great. lots of pool access. good food at the buffet. ala cart was less impresive. staff provided good service and were very attentive. the shuttle service is excellent and worked great for the family, including a 20 month old. as wilth most of these resorts I'm always annoyed at the reserving of pool chairs so early. my only complaint is that i did have a complaint. emailed the hotel, and have yet to get a response. very annoying.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: beautiful resort

when we first arrived at now onyx I knew this would be an amazing resort. check in was a breeze, and staff was so welcoming . the resort grounds are beautiful and has an amazing beach front. we had a swim up room and let's say I couldn't go to another resort without one. There was a bar 15 feet from our room and wait staff wpukd bring us drinks right to our room- talk about service. the rooms were spacious and beautiful. had absolutely no complaints whatsoever. there was a bar fridge, which w [... read more]as stocked daily. room service at end time of day and night and was there within 10 mins everytime. every single person that worked there was amazing. they would all go out of their way to make you happy and get you what you needed. the food was very good and lost of variety- wish there was more seafood but not a huge issue. this resort was a little low key and more for families but breathless is a 3 min walk and is very lively, which you have full access to - so you can have the best of both worlds. overall I enjoyed this resort and have nothing negative to say. i would recommend this resort to friends and family.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Quality getting poor

The resort is beautiful and the grounds are well kept. However going to this resort four times I can see that the quality is slowing getting poor. Servers at buffet are slow and plates pile up on the table. Drinks are not brought in a timely manner. Towels and soaps are not replaced promptly. Robes are taken and not returned. The door to our balcony was left open on more than one occasion and we were on the main floor. There were Roaches in our room. We stayed at the royal golden section. Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Very Large Resort

The resort itself is amazing. The food delicious and the beach goes on for miles. The only down side is the room we had. It was in need of some major cleaning and upgrading. When we walked into the room barefoot within seconds we looked like we had slippers on which told us the room was not cleaned in a while. The walls were thick with dust as well. Occidental Caribe: Great value for the money

this hotel has the best beach front in Punta Cana lots of areas to sit in the sun and shade with plenty of lounges. Pool had a goof vibe and kept everyone happy involved as many as possible.
