Grand Memories Varadero: Worst Vacation!

We did not receive what we asked/paid for. No hot water for 3 days. Food is the same everyday. awful!! Would NEVER RETURN here again!!!! Service is awful! Always lies!! The resort should be torn down.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great Property

We were very happy with the resort. The best thing about the resort is the staff,very friendly and willing to assist the guests. We have stayed at other resorts in Cuba and Mexico which we enjoyed but your staff surpasses all others.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Definitely not a five stars. May be two.

When we arrived to the resort and our room we found the bath tab was out of order, no towels at all, the telephone set was out of order. Room was dark, not enough lights. Only two bath towers we got on the next day, and it never have changed during all two weeks of our stay. Hand towels they just don't have. The food was poor, include buffet and all of a la carte. Sol Caribe Beach: Front desk staff made this review LOW

The Beach was great. The food was very good. The bar staff are fantastic. The coffee bar was a great experience. Maid service was great. The front desk staff not up to par. The room I reserved was supposed to be 2 beds. They gave me a 1 bed room. I had 2 Teenagers' with me. When we asked if could get the room we booked, they rolled their eyes. We had to take what they gave us. The Wifii was no good at all. A lady infront of me was asking about the Wiifii. The front desk girl out-and-o [... read more]ut lied to her. Front desk said Wiifii was fine. Everyone else in hotel was good. Front desk told the lady her cell phone was the problem. We had a maintenance door above our room banging all night. (It was a windy week). For 3 days we asked that it be closed. Front desk said, "All I can do is write it down" Took 4 tries to get a beach towel. Then we were never able to trade it in for clean ones.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Disappointed

The hotel has a nice layout but has shortfall in upkeep and basic stocking of rooms. The door wouldn't lock and maintenence was informed but was still not working properly. The food was horrendous barely palatable and I'm not a picky person. The beach is amazing so only points for location. The staff are friendly but minimalistic in response . I got food poisoning quite badly during stay here and heard another whole family on the airplane coming home had food poisoning as well. Wouldn't stay here again and has actually left a bad mark to not want to come to cuba again in the future . Will stick to Mexico instead.

Sol Caribe Beach: Ok

Check in was total chaos..we were a group of 17 and had only 1 person at counter.. food was good beach was good rooms clean..provided bus for us but weren’t going to let me on way back to airport..somehow I wasn’t on their list..no idea why..

Blau Varadero: Beautiful and Friendly

Traveled December 3-10. First time at this resort. Will be back again for sure. Room: little outdated but clean and functioning. Great maid service, cute towel and blanket displays all week. Handwritten notes from staff. comfortable beds, great view. Air worked really well and always had lots of hot water and pressure. Lobby / central area: Loved the vines, so pretty, especially at night. Lots of places to sit, chat, relax, listen to music or hang out. Loved the open concept. Only complaint. Ohh and we got stuck a few times on the elevator. Not a big deal, ring the bell and within minuets you are moving again. Food: Had heard mixed reviews on the Al carte so we skipped it. I have a very sensitive stomach and never ever went hungry. Infact was able to eat the bread there unlike back home. Food was decent, lots of it. Didn't eat half the snacks I brought just in case. It is Cuba... lower your expectations and you will be happy and full. Staff: They are all so friendly and helpful. Can't speak highly enough about them. Smiles all day every day. A few very helpful helping secure decorations for my birthday dinner and baked me a cake. So sweet of them and truly appreciated. Beach: Close second behind Cayo Coco. Clean well kept. Bar and bathroom close by. Entertainment staff fun and energetic. Pool: Large pool, lots of room to swim or float in. Different levels of water. Beauitful. Entertainment: Live music throughout the day and night around the pool and lobby bar. Two great sax players, good rock band, great water show. No shows at the Theatre. 5/7 nights we danced for several hours in the beach bar. Great music, great bartender and friendly DJ. He was open to requests and did a great job, The other two-nights DJ would not play anything you asked for, only played techno beat overlays. Was horrible... we are not all in our 20's liking that style. Sad too as it was my birthday and was looking forward to dancing all night. Walked out to the street watched a bunch of old cars drive by. Took one to town to go for dinner and dancing at the Beatles bar. Amazing rick band that night. Dinner was disappointing. Lack of options. Should have eaten on the resort. Already planning next the next trip back. Beautiful beaches, resort and people. Its CUBA... leave your stuffy attitudes and high expectations at home and enjoy it. Clean, friendly and sunshine. Can't ask for more!!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Save your money book elsewhere

We started with one room that smelt so bad like must and mold we had them move us to another room. Also the safe in the first room had no batteries in it. Second room there is mold all over the bathroom tub and sink. But we stayed in there rather than having to move once again. Our second night here we went to the front desk because we had a couple minor issues with the room and we were told maintenance would be up in 20 minutes. Well 3 days later and we still have not seen a maintenance guy. [... read more] Breakfast at the buffet we have seen eggs only twice but you have to line up for them for 20 minutes or more. They have shrivelled up pancakes but no syrup for them. There is next to no selection for breakfast at all. The servers bring you coffee or juice but don’t come back to see if you are ok or need a top up. Lunch has been ok not a lot of selection but we did find something. Dinners have been a mess next to nothing in selection and the food is cold even when they bring it freshly from the back. Also want to point out absolutely nothing is labeled with what it is so you have no idea what you are taking whether or not you will like it. We did the Italian alacarte the one night. We ordered chicken. The chicken was extremely dry and rubbery to the point we had a hard time cutting it with the knives. The cheese soup tasted like kraft dinner sauce and the chocolate cake tasted like the box it come in. The Japanese restaurant was amazing we did enjoy that. And the show that goes with it was on point. WiFi has been horrible on one minute off the next. No WiFi at the pool or beach either. Booted off and can’t get back on for some time. It was even very weak when on the balcony. Housekeeping the room was cleaned daily but not once all week were the towels changed just folded and put back on the shower rail. Our shower was only a wand which we had to tuck into a pole to have a shower. Otherwise hold the wand the whole time. The weather this week wasn’t as friendly as Cuba weather should be so we spent a lot of time in the lobby. We waited hours and had to flag the server down to even get anything in there. The bar was always lined up so that also took a lot of time just trying to get a drink. The entertainment team is awesome they keep the crowd going and the evening shows have been great. Also not once has the elevator in building 16 worked. Overall this wasn’t a great experience and we will not be returning here. Definitely not a 4.5 star. I would give it maybe a 2.5 to a 3. I do understand that there are shortages in Cuba but service isn’t great either and in my opinion that makes or breaks a resort. Unfortunately this one is a break for me.

Grand Memories Varadero: Not what we expected!!!!

First off, I never criticize any resorts in Cuba. I've been there over 20 times and understand the situations they face in that country. That being said, I was very disappointed in the service and lack of variety in the food. I stayed at a different resort in April, 2022 and had a much better experience(food, staff and everything in general). Staff was not friendly, cleaning ladies arguing while cleaning the rooms (literally yelling at each other across the hallways), and then still not cleaning the room until 4 or 5 o'clock. Now the food, things are always a little scarce in Cuba but this is the first time I never had one piece of chicken and only had a omelet once for breakfast, was told no eggs only pancakes. And we paid extra for the Diamond Club!!! I stayed at Club Tropical right in the town of Varadero and never had these issues. Needless to say I won't be going back and won't recommend it to anyone. Oh yeah, we found huge cockroaches in our room on the last day...nasty!!

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great Resort

Ground is beautiful ( need more light in the night) Service was great in the dining room area Staff are friendly Rooms are clean but outdated . The snack bar staff were great Atmosphere was very quiet . The accessibility room was lacking thoughts It had enough room for regular showers + the seating hand held shower Not enough bars to hold on for the elderly. Overall it was a great week and a great place .

Starfish Jibacoa: An excellent resort

This resort is really better than many critics claim it to be. The room/bungalow that we had was obviously dated and because of dampness the walls were shedding paint. Location was an hours drive from Varadero. The resort ,its layout and location were really good. The beach was great. For what we paid, the service and food were well over what we expected. Food was indeed repetitious but there was choice of four/five meats. Two grills going all the time. Bar- Never had a problem with any drinks . [... read more]Everything was available. The only problem we had was the weather. We encountered TWO storms. That's cannot be controlled. In general the staff were excellent throughout the resort. For what you pay compared to other resorts it is definitely a 5 star. If your looking for caviar and stuff you are in the wrong place.

Roc Barlovento: Amazing Beach.

We just returned from first 2 weeks of December. This is not a new resort but it is well kept. The location is perfect for walking around town. The double decker bus is right across the street our check-in was fast and friendly. No issues with the room. The food was served hot and refreshed often. The staff at this hotel are very helpful and friendly. The pools are great and the entrainment crew do their best to keep everyone happy. The beach is beautiful. I would recommend this one. Starfish Varadero: Horrible, BED BUGS

I stayed in Star Fish Varadero in 2nd of week of December 2023. Food is as good or bad as any other hotel in that region. Beach: Great, white sand beach, clean and shallow, access to beach is perfect. Location with respect to Varadero: Not convenient. You have to take a taxi and each way the cost is around $25 US. Hotel Cleanliness: Floors, rooms and lobby areas were clean. Pest Issues: Horrible. I was eaten alive by BEDBUGS. I also noticed that at least three more guests were troubled b [... read more]y BED BUGS. Customer Service: Below standard. When I went to the lobby to meet Hotel Manager, he tried to avoid me. Finally, after at least 4 hours wait, I was able to meet hotel manager. The Hotel Manager tried his best to convince me that these hundreds of Bed Bug Bites on my legs and arms, were in fact caused by mosquitoes. In Canada, I consulted my doctor, who confirmed that these bites were caused by BED BUGS. I was also told that Star Fish Hotel Manager was aware of infestation of Bed Bugs in the hotel. I was not the first one to complaint about BED BUGS. Bed Bugs are notorious to hide in clothes, furniture, luggage, etc. In Canada, I immediately, want to a laundry mart and washed all clothes. Bed Bugs can spread very quickly. I will never stay in Star Fish Hotel. I could not sleep for three nights due to Bed Bug Bites.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Great stay!

The resort was fun with many different areas and settings to relax in. You may enjoy the various pool styles and settings, all including bars for your convenience. It was a overall adventure, at first it was easy to get lost due to the size but I quickly learned my way around.

Melia Las Antillas: GREAT

This was wonderful. Food was repetitive but GOOD. Restaurants on the resort were GREAT. the rooms are outdated but large and the grounds are beautiful! Perfect if you love enjoying the beach and pool.

Starfish Jibacoa: Great stay

The resort is kept nice and clean, the beach is spacious. The staff are super courteous and polite, always helpful. Great cappuccinos and spanish coffee are served at the lobby bar. We always had large bottles of water in our rooms. Our rooms/beds were very comfortable and clean, bathrooms with hot water and a well running mini fridge. The buffet was good and great detail was put into the presentation of their food, even the fresh bun/bread section was elevated in nice wicker baskets. For desse [... read more]rts they had assorted squares cut in fancy design, small cream filled puff pastry, tarts, ice cream and rice pudding.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Very nice pool

This place looks like it was a 4.( star resort 10-15 years ago. One of the biggest and nicest pools I’ve seen in a resort in Cuba with a nice deep end which I enjoyed. Otherwise everything is pretty dated and they’re doing contruction. The food was fine for Cuba. Really quiet. Wouldn’t recommend if you enjoy night life, after 5pm it’s a ghost town. For the price it was fine.

Hotel Tuxpan: Excellent Hotel

Amazing, friendly staff greeted us all the time. The rooms are clean and the grounds are cared for. Pool was wonderful and the beach is the best we experienced. Do not expect very much beef but they stir fried chicken and pork for all meals. Pizza and sandwiches available when dining room was closed. Nightly entertainment. Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Nice resort

We have been in this resort already 4 times, it is a nice place with great people. But this time it looks kind of rundown. Elevator did not work, problems with toilet paper. But in general we still like it and enjoyed our vacation

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Hotel Review

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. The staff are always friendly and polite and ready to help. On this trip, we had a junior suite on the second floor in building #4. It was spacious and had most of the amenities needed with the exception of a few things. First, the air conditioner was not working. Second, the shower did not function properly (just a drizzle), and there was no plug for the bathtub. Overall, the grounds of this hotel were lovely and well-maintained. The pools were clean and staff ready to help in any way. The beach was lovely and staff made themselves available to help you if needed by moving chairs, offering drinks, or providing information on beach activities. The a la carte restaurants provided an relaxing experience and portions were acceptable. Evening performances were fun and varied.
