The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Disappointing Holiday

We just returned from a one week stay over the Christmas Holiday and I am sorry to say we would not return to this resort. The grounds and hotel were beautiful and the food fantastic. The hotel is located close to the town of Samana, at night the local residences party until 4:30am each night with the music reflecting off the Hotel. Basically our room vibrated all night to the music coming from town. I spoke to the front deck person (Henzi) who basically dismissed me and told me they didn't ha [... read more]ve any other rooms to move us to. I had just watched a bus of tourists leave the hotel for the airport?? I finally had to ask for the manager, and within minutes he accommodated us. I have never been treated in such a manner at an all inclusive resort. We also booked through Sunquest, we never met our rep the entire week. He didn't show up at the airport or the hotel. I finally had to get the Air Canada Rep to find out our pick up arrangements for us back to the airport.

Beautiful resort and grounds Had a great time Entertainment could have been better, but we still had a great time Restaurants were very nice, and clean The resort was very well kept, the staff were a pleasure to be around always happy and helpful. We loved the birds that were all around the resort

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: hôtel tres bien

L'hôtel est très bien. Très bien aménagé. Le personnel très serviable et souriant. La niurriture est assez bonne et variée, toutefois elle n'est pas très chaude. La plsge est très bien meme si le sable n'est pas très fin et n'est pas blanc, msis plutôt brun. Les chzmbres sont ordinaires mais très propres. On ne manque jamais de chaises ni de palapa. Je conseil cet hôtel même s' il est situé à au moins une heure et demie de l'aéroport

Grand Bavaro Princess: Christmas in Punta Cana!

This is our 2nd trip booked for the Bavaro Princess. Bernice at Tripcentral was amazing with the her service and patience with me while booking our big family vacation! Thank you Bernice! We couldn't have done it without you! The resort was amazing! The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to ensure our comfort! Marie Clase and her crew at the VIP lounge were extremely helpful and always made us feel welcome! Our little guy was not feeling well and she went out of her way to ensure he was comfortable and had what he needed. Jose and Perez at the VIP Beach Bar were amazing! The guys know how to handle customers! They were quick and courteous and always made us laugh! We cannot wait to go back! Feliz Navidad!

Grand Palladium Select Bavaro: Nice resort

The Resort and the beach was nice but the food wasn't the greatest, every buffet had the same food every day of the week.The night entertainment wasn't too good also....and when there was entertainment it was all in Spanish , not much for teenagers to do in the evening. There was no variety of different beers at the bars, always the same kind of beer...

Grand Bavaro Princess: Wonderful Experience

When I arrived at the hotel I immediately was impressed by the lobby. The aquatic garden along with the high ceilings made the initial arrival to the hotel feel welcoming and tropical. Unfortunately there was a flood which made travel to and from the room a little harder but was not an issue as the hotel provided transportation to cross the water. The beach and the property overall was well maintained and enjoyable. Great experience overall!

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Nice resort

Very impressive location, beaches not so great. Good food, little limited variety on breakfast and lunch. Dinners very good. Restaurants (3, by reservation) dinners not so great. 10 min. walk to the city (there is also shuttle bus from resort) and you can see real life on the island.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Overall great resort.

Xmas Buffet was a disaster avoid if at all possible. Very frustrating & confusing. Fighting for seats & food. Crazy!!! The staff & service was good. Check-in was great no line ups. Rainy weather but not to worry sun comes out quickly.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Newly renovated family friendly resort

The hotel was nice. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Very lush and green with grass, lots of trees and tropical plants. The beach was big and the view was gorgeous. They apparently just finished renovating the first two weeks of December so the rooms were modern and very clean. The layout was very spread out. We stayed near the beach so it was about a 3-4 minute walk outside to eat at the buffet. They have one main restaurant and another snack restaurant by the beach which doubles a [... read more]s an Italian a la carte restaurant in the evening, but you have to reserve your table. The food was okay, they tried to bring variety for dinner but pretty much the same foods for breakfast and lunch. Very much a family friendly resort that caters to people of all ages. The biggest issue we had was the lack of English speaking staff. Only about 5% of the staff spoke any English and even then it was difficult to communicate. We have travelled to many different spanish and french speaking islands but this was the first time we experienced such difficulty communicating. The resort had quite a few activities including movie night on the beach, but 90% were suited to accommodate French speaking clientele. Overall a pleasant experience and a nice resort.

hotel was clean, grounds well kept, pools cleaned constantly, our room was done nicely everyday, foods were good, breakfast was super everyday, people working were very friendly, our stay here was fantastic, we all {4} will definitely come back.....and price was inexpensive compared to other resorts. beach was nice, hot water in shower everyday too ! our travel agent Nicole was very helpfull too !

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Small Resort nice place

Tips for your stay. 1, Upgrade your room if you can 2. there isn't a cafe it's a machine (not bad) 3. If you like Bailey's you have to pay for it. (or buy it at the Duty free and keep it in your room) 3. BRING YOUR OUR Advil Tylenol etc. it's sold by the pill in the Duty free store (we found it a little odd and expensive). 4. you only get one towel per day (little weird) 5. Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Great vacation spot!

A non-pretentious but comfortable, beautiful and energetic hotel. We went there to surprise my parents who were already there so we didnt know where we were going or what to expect. It was our first resort experience as well, since we are of the backpacker type. The beach was beautiful, water warm, sunsets unforgettable, the people friendly (helped that we are fluent in Spanish) and the food delicious - lots of choices for a vegan/vegetarian diet, which we were super happy with. Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Beautiful Resort

We loved this resort. We were unlucky that the weather was rainy for several days, but the resort was lovely and the food was excellent. The staff worked very hard to make our stay and the entertainment was fantastic

Riu Merengue: Not a four star resort

The best thing I can say about this resort is that there are no time share vultures to avoid. The rooms are small, but the balconies are quite roomy, however a working toilet would have been nice. We made a number of calls to get it fixed and were assured they would send someone, no one ever arrived. In the end my husband had to fix it himself. On day three of our vacation we lost hot water, were kept being told it would be fixed soon, when we checked out four days later there was still no hot [... read more] water. The air conditioning also didn't work properly. Some days it worked other days not so much. The service was inconsistent at best. The housekeeping staff did and excellent job and some of the wait staff were very good, however overall the impression you get is one of indifference from most staff. The front desk staff is the worst, they couldn't care less if you have a complaint and have no real intention of doing anything to rectify your problem. Calling this a four star resort is outrageous. Four star resorts have clocks and irons and coffee makers in the rooms. They also have working plumbing. The food was edible if a bit on the monotonous side, the same thing at every meal with very little variation. They say reservations are not needed for the restaurants, but good luck getting in. We were turned away, despite there being empty tables, at the steakhouse by Sandy (who seemed to be the head waiter). He was downright rude. There are much better resorts in Puerto Plata, take our advice and book anywhere else but at the Rui Merengue.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great stay!

Travelled with my adult daughter....we enjoyed the hotel and totally loved the location...right in Sosua! Rooms were clean and comfy...food was good....Beach is nice but lots of waves so tricky for small kids.....Pools are great...Jacuzzis have a view to die for! Public beach beside resort is big and nice...I enjoy locals around during and there wI'll be locals swimming or selling items on the beach. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Goog and not so good.

This was our first visit at Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Green. We were always going to other Punta Cana Resort and decide to check something new. The resort is very nice maintained. Many trees and green bushes around. This resort is one of many Bahia Principe resorts, and there is no separation between them which did not make us comfortable. The food was good, but not enough staff, so we have to wait in line before each meal. When we get inside the table was clean but not really ready, missi [... read more]ng forks, napkins, no coffee in the morning, (after asking few times finely get one, which taste bad-so did not try anymore). Rooms are quite big. The balcony door did not lock, and because we stayed in the ground floor we really did not like it. After complaining, they fix it, but it was only close until we open it again, so we gave up. The hairdryer work few second and turn off, and again few second and turn off, so I had to spend long time drying my hair lackey short one. We are not going back to this resort for sure.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Great stay!

This hotel is under renovations but in a few months it will be a great place to stay! It is a smaller resort but everything is close by. We stayed there with a large group between Dec 4-11th. The view of the ocean is breathtaking. It's probably one of the more private beach front locations in Samana. Food is plentiful and tasteful. We loved our room. There was a new buffet opening up the week we were leaving- beautiful modern décor. Like I mentioned above once the resort is complete it will be a delight to return to. The resort is steps away from a local town where you can go to eat, drink a few beers, go to the grocery store or shop for a few tshirts, cover ups or trinkets and it is very safe. Make sure you barter with them for good deals! The duty free at the airport is pretty limited to buy some of the things. The deals for the alcohol are the best at duty free for name brand spirits. The free wifi was a treat- some places were a hit and miss but hey you are on vacation, no need to stress about little things like this. This resort needs Caribbean music, more coffee machines at all the bars and an updated theatre to make it a 5 star location. Thank you for a great week!

Riu Republica: Was it worth the price?

My man and I went on our annual vacation down south. This year we tried an adults only hotel. It’s called the Riu Republica in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I was told it just opened in June. Was there enough activities? Yes. The entertainers had games for everyone, BUT…they were too long to wait to play them. They would try to get 10 to 20+ people to sign up. So, you would get one turn and then wait another 10 minutes to play. My man and I did win at darts. He came 1st and I came 2n [... read more]d. However, this is normal in most resorts. So, if anyone from resorts are reading this, can you please do a max of 10 people. While we want to play, we also want to enjoy the sun. There was a fun game called Slip and slide that the tourists decided to do. They used one of the tables in the pool, added TONS of water to it and encouraged everyone to get on. Well, most of us did and it was a blast. I did hear though of someone tearing out their belly button ring because there was groves in the table. 2 days during the week they had a foam party. They played great dance, rock, and some country music. So, that was great. What was the room like? One word…HUGE!!! We had a king size bed…OMG, I loved having my own side of the bed. I would have to roll over 3 times just to get close to him. So, you can imagine how amazing my sleep was.lol There was plenty of water bottles, alcohol, beers in the fridge, towels and pillows. However, constant humming outside. We were facing east, which was what we wanted because we wanted sun in the morning. However, we couldn’t sit out there because the noise actually hurt our ears. There was some sort of machine outside that was constantly running. It never turned off. What was the weather like? That’s the interesting part. It rained every morning, but would stop around 7:30, and at least 2 times during the week in the afternoon. What about the food and drinks? OK, so here’s where I’m a bit disappointed. There was 1 buffet, a snack place, and 3 restaurants we could eat at. The buffet had good food and quite a variety, but the restaurants all had buffet too and not open every day. Only the steak house had sit down menu that you chose from. Everywhere else was buffet. I really wanted a sit down dinner and something different. After all, that’s what it said was provided in the description. The drinks were good. We had beer most of the time, and mimosa in the morning. One of the bar guys Leornardo made wonderful dry vodka martini’s with LOTS of olives for us. One girl at the pool gave me a shot with coffee cream and chocolate sauce…OMG, that was tasty. We tried the Mama Juana. YACK!!! That stuff will grow hair on your chest, even if you’re a woman! What about the beach? Ah yes the beach. The beach was soft and easy to walk on. With the crazy weather i.e. wind and rain it was hard, but we walked 40 minutes each way. We saw the Hard Rock hotel that we walked in to see. It’s HUGE. Not a place for him and I. We like smaller and more outside. This hotel felt like it was a shopping mall. It’s good for some people, but not for us. So, would you go back? We paid over $3600 for the 2 of us. It was fun, we met some very nice people, and there were no kids. So, would we go there again? No! The prices doesn’t make up the difference for things that are important to me like restaurants, quiet time while sitting on the balcony. Last year we stayed at the Grand Palladium Punta Cana and it was 2 times the size and cost us $2400. Oh and there was no one selling local artifacts which we liked to see during the week.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Nice Resort

Resort was clean and well kept. Food was good. Service was good most of the time. Main complaint was that we had trouble getting new clean beach towels. Sometimes had to wait for hours. Room cleaning was not consistent - sometimes we didn't get wash cloths, sometimes we didn't get pillow cases on our pillows. Resort is very large so you have to take a shuttle to everything. Beach was very nice and cleaned every day.
