Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: OK

Resort grounds were nice. Lots of stairs. Suites were nice and spacious. No night enertainment for adults or kids. Staff was very nice and courteous. Beach was small, but the resort made up for it with the manmaid VIP beach. Over all ok but will not go back.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Golf getaway

If you are looking for a resort that has golf, this is the place to go. Amazing vacation. Hotel was clean and friendly. Great pool and beach areas. Ocean had lots of floating weeds but was warm. Plenty of great restaurants. Buffet was ok.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great place - would go again

People were great Food was above standard Price was reasonable for what you received Resort was fantastic Great transportation system shuttling you from resort to resort Could also take advantage of the other Bahia Principe a-la-carte restaurants Lots of excursions and things to do Would definitely look at going again to one of the Bahia Principe resorts in Punta Cana

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Amazing resort!

This is the best hotel I ever been for winter holidays! The beach of the hotel is great. Of course if you just want to swim and walk, it is just like other beaches. But the best part is snorkling. We spent all the time snorkling in the sea and it just steps away from the beach! Food was great! Highly recommend Brazial and French restaurents. Buffet is good enough too. Rooms are huge and clean. Safe box is free to use, but a bit complicate to know how to set password. Bathroom is big and bright. Day trips hosted by hotel is reasonable priced. We had a lot of fun! Highly recommend National Park day trip and Zipline. Zip line is so exciting~

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Amazing place!

I was very pleased with everything ! The resort is immaculate ! The only problem was a musty smell in our room 1316 ! But after a couple days it seemed better. The opening of doors helped air move ! All the restaurants were very good! Very good food at all of them ! My favorite was the Rodeo ! The Japanese one was a favorite one too! I had the spa and I was totally impressed , what a wonderful 1 1/2 hrs that was ! All the evening shows were just great too. All in all it was a wonderful trip [... read more] ! Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Would not go again.

The rooms were nice and big, but we had leaking from up above. Also the toilet handle kept sticking and the water would run, till you adjust it. Also the room service was very bad. If you needed extra hangers, extra towels, more ice etc, it took for ever. None if the buildings gave you an ocean view room, even though the tourist company did it does comes with it. They served the same food everyday at lunch n dinner. You would have to ask for the better alcohol when ordering a mixed drink. They  [... read more]call it the Luxury/Don Pablo Collection. It was not a 5* resort at all, more like a 4*. We never had a calm water day. Everyday there was a yellow or red flag at the beach. Very choppy the waters. In the restaurants the service was very bad. Many times you had to repeat yourself 3-4 times to get any service. Really disappointed. I would not go again, nor recommend this resort to any of my friends.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Amazing but Big

Hotel room was wonderful 3 Pools and walking distance to a lovely Sandy Beach only complaint is too far to walk to Main Lobby for Meals had to take a trolley everywhere. When you got to the Lobby there was wonderful live shows and Buffet.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Horrible resort

The hotel looks beautiful. But it ends there. The food is horrible. I was sick for 5 days while there and there were a number of other visitors who were also ill. If you want alcohol in your drink you have to ASK for it! If you order a daiquiri and don't say with alcohol you will receive virgin drinks! First resort I have ever been to where this is their policy!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Great deal, hidden gem

Best thing about this hotel is probably the food. Overall very good. Lots of quality buffet selections, à la cartes are all great, Brazilian was our fave. Some of the best beef and chicken we've ever had anywhere. Beach is nice, coral just feet off shore makes for some fun snorkeling. Small pool but we aren't pool people. Overall great place, a hidden gem. Friendly stray beach dogs are fun to play with, they stay off the resort beach

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Fantastic Resort!

The resort itself was first class. Everything you want in an all inclusive resort. Great food (each of the A La Cartes and the snack bar and buffet), beautiful beach, very clean rooms and buildings, genuine and helpful staff and lots of things to do to keep you busy and entertained. The best feature for us was the great people that were working while we were at the resort. Everyone was very nice and quick to help with anything. The beach is more of a Snorkelling beach than anything as there is a [... read more] natural reef about 20-50 feet out depending on the part of the beach you're on. Lots of chair availablility on the beach and lots of sun and shade to go around. Outside of the resort, there are two warnings I have to give.. 1) make sure to fly into Samana, if not, be prepared for a 3+ hour drive to the resort from Puerto Plata. 2) We noticed that the area around the resort is quite dirty and found our excursion destinations very polluted and not exactly what we expected. Be especially aware of the Horseback Ride and Hike to the waterfall El Limon. You may end up on a donkey and the routes were very treacherous and my girlfriend and I felt uncomfortable and unprepared for the trip and we both ride here in Canada. Just a heads up so you're aware if you choose this excursion. In conclusion, we couldn't have been happier with the resort itself. What an incredible place to spend a week out of the snow!! Wyndham Alltra Samana: Great future potential

Grand Paradise Samana has great potential. The location is beautiful, beach is postcard perfect and the pool facilities are good. After changing rooms three times, we were happy. The air conditioning finally worked and we were far enough away from the generator facility so as to not hear the noise. The room was clean, beds comfortable and furniture new. That said, two rooms had plumbing issues and despite asking the front desk for maintenance to come and waiting 6 hours, we finally took a p [... read more]lunger from the maintenance room on our floor and plunged the toilet in our final room ourselves. Staff and facilities still have a few bugs to work out but we feel this could be a great resort after the growing pains are worked out.

Surprise Escapes: Great but not a 5 star resort!

My husband and I booked a one week all inclusive to Punta Cana from December 10th to December 17, 2016. Since there are so many options out there,we decided to go with the "surprise escape" by sunwing. It guaranteed a 5 star resort, adults only for a very decent price, We got the CHic punta Cana, which wasn't much of surprise as it is owned by sunwing. THe morracan restaurant had a musty smell, to the point we could 't even enter the restaurant. As for flying with singing, we were delayed 6 hours on our return flight (stuck at airport) and when we finally boarded the plane, it took over 2 hours for the food tray to come to our row. We were then told there were no meals left!!! Other than that, if I knew what to expect I wouldn't have anything to complain about, but since I was expecting a 5 star, I was a tiny bit disappointed.

TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Great relaxing resort

Great hotel. Staff super friendly ..actually had call to our room to ensure we were having good time with no issues. We had swim up room ..this was awesome . We booked dec 10 to 17 ...resort was not very busy and very relaxing. Room service was very good and we enjoyed the food. We would definitely book there again. The beach is very small but it was a good trade off for a smaller more relaxing resort.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Fantastic week at the ambar green!

Our week stay at the luxury Bahia principe ambar green was absolutely amazing. The hotel itself is beautiful... the grounds are so well kept and very green. Not many flowers but lots of palm trees everywhere. The pool great too. We found it relaxing at night sitting on a lounge chair with the stars out. Enjoying the music coming from the lobby and the lights glowing in the pool. The rooms are really exquisite and very clean. Great job on the staff for doing an awesome job. The food was absolu [... read more]tely delicious. Buffets offored a great choice and attention to detail on presentation was greatly appreciated! Lots of fish and meat.. fresh vegetables and fruit as well!! The beach was beautiful. We were lucky not to get seaweed where we were like the rest of beach had. Lots of hits but hey there early like 6:30 if you want to sit close to the water. Staff was really helpful and always smiling. It was really a great vacation.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Worst Trip of Our Lives

This was the worst vacation we have ever been on and probably ever will be. I wish I had stayed home and gone to work. The facilities are frighteningly poor and the staff just doesn't seem to care. At least they were relaxed, because we sure weren't. We came back more stressed and deeper in debt. Avoid this resort at all costs!

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Not the best we've been to

No complaints about the accommodation - room cleaning service was good and the grounds were well kept and attractive. The food was adequate but started to become monotonous after a few days. The a la carte venues were good. The entertainment was particularly lacking in quality and few of the productions lived up to the standard one would expect of a resort of that caliber. Wyndham Alltra Samana: Definitely a 3* Resort - Wouldn't Recommend

We travelled to this resort with a large group of radio station trip winners. We found the drive from the airport a little far, approx. 1.5 hours on windy roads. The resort was under construction, but many of our problems didn't have anything to do with the construction. The electricity at this resort was spotty. It would go out and be out for a long period of time. We've never had the power go out at any resort we've ever stayed at. We requested a king room in order to be more comfortable sleeping and were then moved to a king room which was newly renovated and was very nice. However, we had cold water all week and the view from our new room was of some rundown outbuildings. We understand that not everyone can have a beach view but this view was not very appealing at all. The hotel has a fantastic beach!!! We are pool people and we thought the newly built large pool was wonderful! We loved the varied depths and size. The small, older pool was rather dirty with lots of floating bugs and debris in the bottom. Staff did come and clean it through the day, but it wasn't nearly as clean as the new pool. Our major problem was with shade. I am very fair and burn easily. I need shade and these pools (and the beach) had no umbrellas or palapas. During the week, we saw some unused umbrellas near a storage shed and asked if we could use one at the pool. We were told they were only for use in the buffet (really??). My husband took one to the pool for me anyway as they had stone bases and wouldn't be damaged by water. We used it for a whole day and the following day while sitting under it, the hotel manager came and told us that was security was called and that we couldn't use it. My husband said that I needed shade and the manager told us that the hotel has a "no umbrella policy" at the pool and beach. What kind of policy is that??? The hotel staff came and took the umbrella while we went for lunch. We've travelled to a multitude of all inclusive resorts and we've NEVER been at a resort that didn't have either umbrellas or palapas around the pool or at the beach. Not everyone wants to bake in the sun all day. The food in the buffet and at the a la carte restaurants was very good. We always found something tasty to eat. The Asia teppanyaki a la carte was excellent!! Here are the problems we had: 1) When we were having drinks in the evening at the Select bar, we found that the bar staff was not washing glassware. My husband was served a drink in glass that had fresh lipstick on it. Further inquiry showed that they were just rinsing glasses with water and then reusing them dirty. Likely the reason that a stomach virus circulated among the group over the course of the week. This was TERRIBLE! This practice is unacceptable and left us wondering where else in the food/bar areas shortcuts were being taken 2) The resort seemingly ran out of white wine, beer, vodka and Bailey's (daily). 3) A $30 US lobster dinner was advertised at the buffet but when we inquired were told that the resort was out of lobster. Strange considering it is on a Caribbean island and we were more than willing to pay. All of the staff were very good. They tried to help as best they could. We wouldn't recommend this resort. There are other resorts in Samana that are rated much higher than this one. TripCentral and Transat Holidays should reconsider their relationship with this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Best Resort Yet!

This was our first trip to Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic. We were pleasantly surprised by our hotel, the Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda. Our room was clean and spacious, the food was excellent, and we were very close to the beautiful, sandy beach. We walked for hours on the beach every day, and joined in some of the recreational activities, particularly, yoga and water exercises.

Riu Republica: Great times👍

We had a grest week at Riu Republica Very good food Good service, people very nice! Organisation is good We would go back! The hotel doesn't have a bank or places to exchange money 25 minures to go to bank But next time we woyld bring morei guess Also the little shopping mall 5 mins from there, free transportation but they really push for you to buy so be careful!

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Now Onyx Punta Cana - Nice property but, past that good luck!

We vacationed at Now Onyx in Punta Cana from December 9th - 15th. Lost a day because of Air Canada (not weather related) that is another story. Yes, Now Onyx greet you with a welcome drink and a wet cloth and you think it is great ..........this is where it stops. First of all the property is lovely. The Service is very disorganized and poorly managed. One of the biggest complaints we have is the filming of promos for their resort on our paid holiday. We were instructed to not use the  [... read more]beach until 10:30 AM, to not use the pool another day until 12:00 Noon. Could not use the main lobby bar at 7:00 PM before dinner another day, in other words filming each day at various places with many interruptions during our 6 day vacation. Rooms were nice but, absolutely non consistence service. Many days without even cleaning the room, let alone replacement of towels or face clothes, soap etc. We had to repeatedly ask for soap, towels etc. Not once did they even clean the tub on the balcony even thought we asked at least 5 times.............filled with insects etc. We gave up. They shower leaked into the bedroom and toilet area, fan in the room was making a racket every time you turned it on. They did try to fix it. The safe in the room did not work , that too had to be fixed. I guess this list could go on and on. Food was just acceptable. We have travelled to Dominican about 9-10 times to various other resorts so, we were aware of what to expect . The service staff at the beach and the restaurants were trying their best but, English was certainly not part of their training. Yes, we have been to many places in Cuba, Dominican, Mexico etc and we understand that English is not their first language. However, here very few understood enough English to allow basic communication. There are two resort both owned by the same company, Breathless next door. Since their resort was full, many from that resort came to Now Onyx taking up the limited number of umbrellas for shade at the pool and other areas. It could be the issues experienced related to the fact that is was a relatively new resort that said, I doubt we would be going back anytime soon.
