Brisas Guardalavaca: Great Resort !!

It is a huge place and there are restaurants and bars all over. Was surprise to see tennis grounds as well as you will not find at some other resorts. Very friendly staff, wish all other hospitality industries could take a few lessons here. one of my best moments was horseback riding outside the resort through the villages and having a beer at one of the locals. Mojito bar located on the 4th floor is a gem. Oscar is a great bartender.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Gréât resort

Grounds were well kept and clean, public bathroom weren’t always the cleanest, rooms were very satisfactory . Food was good, not much variety but never went hungry. Most staff were good but not overly friendly perhaps a language barrier

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Very old hotel,not good for ppl with walking problems

Very old hotel,everything us fooling in a parts,ppl cleaning ,but doesn’t look clean,bc of the very vey old environment..we will never go back there,,even fir free....sorry..Staff is amazing,but somehow the Big Management is sleeping about all this (( Rooms are smelling,A/C are old and you are all the time wet,clothes are wet,Don’t like my vacation ,pls go to outher hotels!!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: excellent value

hotel is upgrading slowly all area clean lawns were not mowed food was good staff are amazing for a public (Cuban) beach very little soliciting all in all a great place to vacation carriage tours ,bus tours , and general activities make for a holiday that you will remember

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Amazing beach

Our vacation was Jan 6-17. Check in at the Fiesta Americana -Holguin, was quick n easy. The first week was great, food was good and plentiful, very good choices, I presume because there was a lot of people at the ressort.We were given a survey after a few days to fill out,of course we gave a great review , Second week the food choice was not like the first! Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Amazing resort

Very good view, clean beach, vast area, a lot of bars, tennis area, theater, swimming-pools, a lot of rooms in renovations statue, some archaeological and old status. A lot of points of: services; as many restaurants; Italian, International, Cuban, and main restaurant. The service in both restaurants and rooms were excellent. The people were very friendly in spite of the embargo. We will recommend this place to revisit; I will go again and again for third time.

Don Lino Hotel: Had to move

We have been travelling to Cuba for 33 years. We stayed only 3 nights of a planned 9 at Don Lino then paid to upgrade to Playa Costa Verde. The staff were great at this resort but they had so little to work with. No CUCs were available Saturday,Sunday.Monday or Tuesday the day we left. Shortages on the Island really hit the lower star places like this one hard.No potatoes,very little bread or fruit varieties,.No condiments at meals.Middle of nowhere so no alternatives nearby for meals.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Repeat Guest

This is my second time and my girlfriends first, I absolutely love this place. The beach is one of the most beautiful in the world. So much character in the buildings and architecture, always clean, the people and staff are amazing and the food is pretty damn good for Cuba! If you go make sure to take a trip into Guadarlavaca and Holguín city there is so much more to Cuba than the resorts! I will be back time and time again,

Paradisus Rio De Oro: still nice

Second time at this resort and 7th time to Cuba. Still the best resort in Cuba although not as good as last time . Resort is still clean but starting to show its age a little. Staff are all wonderful and everyone is on their game and very friendly. Food is still good but once again not as good as it was. Cuba is struggling and it shows. But if you go to Cuba , it is still the nicest resort.

Playa Pesquero: Only Good Resort but now with only 3+ {????)

It was our 4th to this resort and I am afraid it will be the last. Rooms - 4 stars (ocean view) Bars - Lobby 4*, other 3* Food - 3* (quality and service terrible, shortages) Staff - 3* Activities/Entertainment - 2+* Beach - 4* (Services/Toilets - 2*) Safety - 3*

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Times Are A Changing!

I've been to Club Amigo many times over the years but this is the first time I've ever been disappointed-in the amenities, the food and even the staff seemed very tense. Not sure if it's the economic situation, the management or the new hotel next door-or maybe all of the above. TripCentral is the most helpful, attentive travel agency I've ever booked with and thank you for that. We'll be booking again soon !

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great Resort, Excellent location,Amazing staff

Stayed at Sol Rio Luna Mares right after new years and really enjoyed our stay. The resort was great and the staff even greater. The location is excellent being close to local towns for shopping and exploring. The beach is beautiful and spacious. Even though there was reno's going on the noise was kept to a minimal . I would recommend this resort to everyone.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great family friendly resort

This is our 2nd time there, the grounds are nice, staff is great. The restaurants were good and clean. Would definitely recommend. The beach is one if the nicest beaches I've been to in Cuba, Pasquera beach, sand is amazing, snorkeling right off the beach. Do need water shoes in some areas because of the coral. Great water activities, paddle boat, catamarans, kayaking.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Beautiful resort.

We stayed January 8- 15 at the Coral Level at Iberostar Selection in Holguin. We had a junior suite . The rooms are spacious with a awesome bathroom and outdoor shower! The rooms were cleaned everyday and the maids did their job always with a smile . The food is good , the resort had a shortage of several things that they were not able to get. French fries , mashed potatoes and even the lobster was not available. The butlers did their best to accommodate for the things that were not there. [... read more] We would love to see the breakfast a-la carte returning we missed the Eggs Benedict and the rum and banana pancakes! Junior, Raoul, and Lariza were our butlers and we can not say enough good things about them. Always a smile and a kiss on the cheek for us, they are the main reason we come back to this resort. Not only them but all the people that work at the Coral level are friendly and helpful. We ate at some of the a-la carte restaurants and our favorite was the Japanese, a funny show and good food. The rest of the restaurants we didn't much cared for. The Mediterranean restaurant was a disappointment because we expected more fish selections and lobster on the menu which were both missing. The entertainment is good especially the band that played the Tuesday night was awesome. We had nothing to complain about the resort and will definitely come back. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: On week in paradise

Pretty nice week at this hotel. Very good points : 1) Cubans 2) Service at the restaurant and the buffet, 3) At the buffet and the restaurants they serve red wine in bottle, 4) Illimited acces to all the restaurants. Bad points : 1) The water in the shower passes from cold to hot without warning, 2) Even if there was no wind, we could not use the kayaks ans the pedalos at the beach, 3)Severals activities but we don't know where to go to participate 4) Some roc into the sea

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Coral Level

Stayed in a junior suite on the 2nd floor in the Coral Section (adults only). Room was very spacious and all rooms seemed to have a pool view. Room, grounds, pool and restaurants were all very clean and well kept. On the Coral side of the resort which is very quiet, we received excellent service and staff were very friendly. We only ate in the Coral, Japanese and Mediterranean restaurants which was very good. Ate once at the Buffett for dinner which was ok but make sure you are there when the  [... read more]doors open. Warming dishes didn’t seem to be replenished quickly. There are 2 beaches. The small beach is very nice, small and shallow with an excellent beach bar. The larger beach which you share with another hotel is very nice but busy. There is a section reserved for Iberostar guests but quite small and fills up fast. There is also a makeshift bar with excellent service with the basic drinks. (No slushies). The beach is accessible by a bridge and can walked to very easily or you can hop on the golf carts. There currently is no “adult only” beach sections”. The two Iberostar resorts are on large grounds that are very walkable and well lit at night with a nice path along the ocean. The 2 beaches are nice but not like the Cayos or Varadero. I would return.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Had a superb time!

Lovely grounds, had a really nice room, for Cuba the food was good, the beach is nice but a little rocky, bring water shoes. The weather was ok, very windy, we had rain this week but it seems in Cuba it will rain then the sun will come out five minutes later, rain again then the sun will come out again. The flambe crepes in the buffet amazing. The pool restaurant was good. The entertainment was good, my favorite is the violinist who played one evening, he's amazing. They have predinner live musicians (some very good some ok) then this is followed by a show or some other type of entertainment. After the entertainment, if you would like they have an airconditioned disco. Oh, apparently and you get 7 hrs free internet in the lobby, someone said that to us on the last day, you can get more if you want... we never tried it we unplugged for the week. Tips: Bring insulated mugs!!! ... keeps your drinks cold and you won't waste all those tinny cups, better for the environment Bing conditioner (forgot mine)- with the humidity you'll probably shower 2 times a day Bring Toilet paper to the airport when you leave! Often the airport runs out Note: The hotel is approximately 1 hour from Holguin.

Playa Pesquero: Its great. It use to be better!

This was our 4th visit to Playa Pesquero. The service, the staff, the grounds, the food was what kept us coming back to this place versus any other in Cuba. The issue that we encountered this time around was that due to the worst food shortage in the last 15 years in cuba; there was a lack of food selection. All other times they had lobster everytime at every alacarte restaurant, now it was just for new years eve! There was no Ketchup, mustard, mayo, salted butter, nutella, hamburgers and FRIES, [... read more] FRIES! HOW? It's not the peoples fault, its the faulty government for enslaving their people in a communist environment. They have rationed everyone! People spend hours in long lines trying to buy chickens,eggs, butter etc... to only find out that by the time they get to their turn, theres no more produce. The shelves are empty at local stores, they seem to have an abundance of honey though which i found weird. The staff at playa pesquero are excellent, the grounds are always clean and kept up. The only other main issue i have is the rooms are extremely outdated and don't waste your money on upgrading to a superior room! Like the saying goes, same $%#@ different smell. They really need to upgrade the beds and furniture. The electrical outlets have been more than abused, they barely hold a plug in. I will keep coming back just because of thr relationships that we have built there, if it wasn't for that I don't think i could keep going back and supporting that government regime. Poor people.

Playa Pesquero: Beautiful Beach, Friendly Staff, MAJOR Shortages

This was my third time at Playa Pesquero. The last time I visited was several years back. I was worried that the resort might have become run down, but the grounds were still beautiful and the rooms in reasonable repair. The beaches here are beach here is great. Cuba has such beautiful beaches. I was visiting over the Christmas holidays and was surprised to see that the resort was nowhere near capacity. Which as a guest was nice as it meant never having to search for a chair or spot of shade, bu [... read more]t not really a good sign for the resort. So that's the good stuff... now onto the bad. The food was TERRIBLE. I can't stress enough how bad it was. A lot of people complain about the food in Cuba and I've always defended it saying it's not as good as other places, but you can still always find something to eat. That wasn't true this time. I think that the resort was suffering from major shortages. There was no flour - which meant no bread. Very few options of fruits and vegetables. For the first several days I noticed that there seemed to be pickles, pearl onions, capers and olives everywhere. These were the options at the omelet station, the pasta station, options as toppings for your burger, salad option. But no actual veggies, just this canned and pickled stuff. It's like they ran out of everything and just raided the pantry to see what was left over in there. There were also no condiments. No ketchup, mustard, salad dressing choices. They had a variety of tiny condiment bottles of random (often tasting as though they were past the expiry date) things like a terrible tasting queso, terrible salsa and not very palatable hot sauces. Usually at a resort condiments are placed out in bowls because they are purchased in bulk. These were tiny bottles that you might find in a convenience store, which seemed to support the raiding the pantry theory. If you are vegetarian or vegan avoid this resort. You would starve. Meat with a side of pickles and olives was really the only option at a lot of meals. I really don't understand why there were so few fruits and veggies. I would imagine the climate in Cuba is ideal for a lot of plant based options. Also, something like rice and beans should have been an option at every meal despite shortages I would think. It wasn't. You could tell the staff knew how bad the food situation was and you could see the embarrassment in their faces when they offered you this disgusting flatbread like thing that they were trying to replace bread with. There was apparently no flour, so that meant no bread. SO they made this flatbread that was generally so hard you would risk breaking a tooth. It was terrible and they offered it with everything. Burgers were served on this cardboard as well as hot dogs and sandwiches. It was so bad that one of the people I was travelling with was convinced that they were serving us military rations. Although the beaches are great, I don't think I'll be returning to Cuba again after this experience.

Playa Costa Verde: Good resort

We enjoyed our stay at the Playa Costa Verde. Everyone was very friendly..the pool was alway kept blue not green in color..Very clean resort.The a'la cart restaurants were really good.Our fav was the Japannese restaurant..Cuban and Italian were also good. We didn't eat much at the buffet but when we did it was okay,never went Hungary,a buffet is a buffet LOL..We ate a lot at the bar/ restaurant by the pool. If they were low on food they always made us a good lunch with the best Piña Coladas..Th [... read more]e staff were just awesome..The beach is beautiful,lots of chairs.. The staff at the front desk are not friendly at all..Didn't matter who you talked to it seemed like they didn't want to be there.. Rooms could use a bit of an upgrade but they were very clean,the housekeeping ladies( ours) were great.. Not much to do at night and entertainment was not the best.. All in all its a 4* resort with a mix of 3 1/2. We would recommend it and go back if the price was right..
