Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Melia Cayo Santa Maria

7 day trip with 8 in our party. 4 adults and 4 children. Resort was easy to get around and not a ton of walking for small children. We loved the small units with minimal stairs. Beach was beautiful and well maintained. Pools clean and great swim up bar. Internet never worked and had to pay 2-3 times over even though we never connected. If you have work to do, dont bother going to this resort as you will be in trouble. Food typical for cuba.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing view of the beach!!

Our very first family trip with our girls and it was amazing we all enjoyed the hotel and the friendly staff. Cuba is well known for their beaches and no disappointment there! It was an amazing family trip that we will cherish forever.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Fantastic time with the family

We really enjoyed our stay at the resort :) the kids(adults) water slides kept us all busy. My daughter 6 years old spent some time at the kids club since they had plenty of activities for example, outings to the ocean, practice for evening play ( they dressed up as animals for the Lion King to join the entertainers on stage) I would definitely return in the future!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Amazing resort!!!!

We had an amazing, relaxing stay at Ocean casa del mar. The staff were very friendly, the food was great and the atmosphere was wonderful! We can honestly say that we were a bit sad leaving to go back home. We will definitely be returning in the near future!

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Relaxing resort

Amazing beach , grounds well kept . Friendly staff , always willing to help . This resort is getting a little old and some rooms need attention . Good variety of food at the buffet . Lacking real fruit juice , compare to last year . Very pleasant stay overall .

Melia Las Dunas: Good for the price.

Lack of soft drinks in rooms and rooms need to be checked before guest arrival. Sink drain plugged solid, tv remote didn’t work and hairdryer didn’t work. Only thing fixed was drain. Service in the buffet was excellent and food was good. Was our fifth time at this resort and they had very little live music compared to past.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Amazing resort

The Valentin perla blanca has got to be one of the best resorts that I have been to in Cuba. It was very clean and well taken care of. The staff was super friendly and always eager to help. The food was fantastic, always something different. The pools were very well maintained. I am already starting to plan my next trip to the Valentin perla blanca.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Stellar Beaches and Pools

Fantastic beaches and ocean. Both pools are amazing whether you like the quiet pool or the party pool. They have great shows and 3 times a week they have a local band playing in the main lobby. The beach pretty nights were fantastic.

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Run down resort desperate for renos

staff was very friendly and helpful, always smiling and genuine. the beach was great, quiet (no annoying music by the water) and really enjoyed the nudist side. beyond that, everything else is a bummer. many things broken in the room (outlets popping out of the wall, sink not draining, sheets with holes, moldy smell) and all around the resort (none of the fountains work, planks missing from the boardwalk, half the resort cut off with sheet metal fencing...). food was ok during lunch bbq, b [... read more]ut quite bland and very few fruits and vegetables.

Starfish Tropical Cayo Santa Maria: Very disappointing !

We believed we were booked at Starfish TROPICAL which had amazing reviews . When we arrived, we found out that Tropical no longer existed and we were in stead staying at the original Starfish which was very run down and in ill repair . We paid extra foe an ocean view room but were told that none was available. A huge cockroach ran across my bed and the shower head fell off onto my husband’s head . Beach was gorgeous though .

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Wonderful resort

Already recommend to 2 couples. What we like the most was the people working in the resort. They always go that extra mile to help resolve problems. That from our observation because we did not have any problems during our stay. We stay in number 60 Dyane and Michael were super professionals. We are not funs of A LA CARTE restaurants so we did not try them.

Melia Las Dunas: Good resort but hot water issues

This resort is very large - a bit too large for our taste but it is nice but needs some TLC. We were told the Cuban gov't has now partneured with the Melia chain of Cuban resorts. This is probably why the hot water is on timers - no hot water before 5:00 pm every day for the 2 weeks we were there - and we weren't the only ones complaining. The buffet food was mediocre. We have stayed at 13 resorts in Cuba ( including 2 Melia's in Varadero) and this is the first time we had trouble finding [... read more] something to eat at the buffet. Numerous food items were not available every day. Ex: Some days, there were french fries and pizza and bread, the next none. You never knew what would be missing. I guess this is living under communist rule. I would not stay again at a resort operated by the Cuban gov't. I must say though that this resort has the very best entertainment every night from 6 pm on. The beach is gorgeous but one day 10-12 sharks swam by between the sandbar and the beach where we were swimming. It was pretty scary! The lifeguards were yelling in Spanish to get out of the water. They should learn the word 'shark' in english. It took awhile to figure out what they were yelling!

Valentin Perla Blanca: Awesome Resort

The staff were absolutely amazing! The grounds, pools and rooms very well maintained. I would recommend going with the privilege package for access to a great bar, beach area and some decent a la carte restaurants. The buffet food was mediocre, but it's Cuba and they do their very best with what is available. My only compliant is the level of smoke in main common areas. I would like to see more non-smoking areas in the main lobby area and theatre.

Starfish Tropical Cayo Santa Maria: Not as promised!

We booked the Starfish Tropical but when we got there we found out that the Tropical no longer existed and we were simply at Starfish . Paid for an ocean view room but told there were none available . We were given a room that wasn’t even made up and told they’d do it ‘tomorrow ‘

Valentin Perla Blanca: Outstanding beach! Great resort!

We stayed at the resort from Jan 31 to Feb 7 and had a great time! The resort is very modern and clean and the staff does a wonderful job overall, everyone was very friendly and eager to please. The pools were amazing, very clean and the beach was breathtaking! We had no issues with the buffet, always lots of variety, especially the pastries! The only issue we had was with the lighting on the pathways at night, there is little to none. Also, our room keys stopped working at least 5 times through [... read more]out the week and we had to go back to the lobby to get them reprogrammed each time. It was really frustrating to come back from a great day at the beach only to discover that we were locked out of our room. The a la cartes were good, we did French and Italian (twice) but only because that's all that was left, so book them as soon as you arrive if you want your choice!! Overall it was a great resort for the money and we would definitely return.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Cuba at its Finest!

We spent a glorious week at The Royalton in Cayo Santa Maria. This is an all adult boutique resort with the best beach we have seen. The sand is like icing sugar, and you can walk for miles. Our room was very spacious and clean. The grounds were like a tropical paradise with lots of vegetation and all of the buildings were within a reasonable walking distance. There were 2 pools to enjoy and lots of chairs available at each location. There was plenty to eat at the a la carte restaurants.  [... read more]However, there is NO buffet. We had access to 2 nearby resorts, so there was lots of food choices. We had an amazing butler named Noelvis, who treated us royally. Shout out to Liz in Eggsellence restaurant for her excellent service. It was an amazing vacation and we would recommend this resort to adults wishing a quiet, relaxing holiday. We will be back!

Memories Paraiso: WORST *READ THIS*

I never ever write bad reviews. Cuba is my favourite place on earth. I would never go back to this specific resort though. Awful bed bugs. The customer service “worker” didn’t understand any English and mad ZERO effort to help. Our bed was broken when we got there. Completely broken and sunken in on one side. From 7 am till 530 pm I went down every few hours to check on the status and he kept saying they were working on it. Nothing was done so my wife and I had to sleep side by side on a b [... read more]roken bed filled with bed bugs that bit her alive. We were at bungalow 35 at room 3536. Front desk was super rude and would only point to customer service worker who we both know didn’t help at all. Really made our honey moon suffer. The beach was beautiful and entertainment was okay. I’ve been to Cuba 6 times, to even lower rated resorts than this, and had a much much better time. Wouldn’t even go back for FREE.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Lovely little resort

I spent a week at Angsana from Jan 29 to Feb 5. This is a smaller adult-only resort and very peaceful. Not a destination if you want to party! But perfect for utter relaxation. The guests were mainly middle-aged and seniors. My partial ocean-view room in the main building on the second floor was spacious and bright, with a comfortable kingsize bed. The beautiful long beach is a few minutes' walk from the main building, and the water is calm. Lots of snorkeling opportunity. Plenty of loungers. As this small resort was only half-full, there was less variety at the buffet than what is probably usually there, but the food was good; the grill was busy with fresh meats and fish; and there was lots of fresh fruit, delicious breads, and a good selection of cheeses and deli meats. The only live entertainment was live music in the lobby bar in the evening; there is no theatre or disco and the resort is quiet after 10 or 11. Piped-in music around the lobby and pool during the day is mellow Cuban and jazz. Staff were wonderful—courteous and hard-working. Be aware that the bus transfer from the airport in Santa Clara to the resort is almost 2 hours. It's an interesting drive through the countryside and the bus is comfortable but there is no toilet on the bus so--warning--don't drink too much beer en route. I would highly recommend this resort for a relaxing and serene vacation!

Valentin Perla Blanca: Don't do it

Let me preface this by saying that I have been to Cuba several times and I am used to the imperfections that come with a Cuban holiday. The food was TERRIBLE. Normally at a Cuban buffet you can find something no matter how picky you are. And yes, you can expect repetition. But this was disgusting. And good luck finding vegetables. Even the a la cartes, which are normally pretty decent in Cuba, were terrible. I ordered chicken fricassee (white sauce) in the French restaurant, and it came i [... read more]n a tomato sauce (canned). When I pointed this out, the waiter said, "chef changed it" and walked away. The beef was like leather, and the fish very overcooked. There were many shortages. Our first day, we went to the a la carte for breakfast and were told no bacon, no ham, no cheese. After day one, and for the remainder of the trip, no gin and tonic. They also ran out of white wine, and I understand also many other things, but they weren't things I eat or drink. Only one type of bread. Yellow (corn?) bread for EVERYTHING. Yellow buns for burgers and hot dogs, yellow buns at every meal. Even at the French and Italian restaurants where I hoped to see a decent baguette - more yellow buns. There was nowhere to grab something to eat and go. The "snack bar" was a sit down restaurant with burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches. A nightmare for gluten-free or vegetarian eaters. There was supposed to be snacks in the preferred lounge, but there never was. I ordered a cappuccino and watched the waiter smell the cream, call another guy over who smelled it as well, poured it out, and stuck his finger in it. Another guy came over and did some sniffing and stirring as well. I didn't need a cappuccino with questionable cream. I told them never mind and left. The first day, on four occasions, staff entered our room unannounced. No chain locks or swing bar locks to prevent this. After locking the bathroom door (I deemed this necessary after the many intrusions), I was trapped inside and could not get out until my husband freed me from the other side. FYI - all the rooms are the same. If you pay for an upgrade or an ocean view, the room is identical (but with an ocean view). Every day was a game of "Wonder which towels we will get today?" Day one, two bath towels. No bath math, no facecloths, no hand towel. When I asked for facecloths, they said they didn't have any and would get one for me tomorrow. I then asked for a mat or another towel to use as a bathmat and I got that. I did get two facecloths the next day, but when the cleaners came the following day, gone were the facecloths, hand towels and bathmat again. So if I ran into them, I could sometimes get something, but otherwise, just the two bath towels. Basic stuff - we need the basics here! No option to get fresh beach towels. You had to "try" to dry them on your deck every day. Good luck with that with the humidity. Same sheets all week too. And yes, we tipped every day. As a "privilege" guest, we got robes in our rooms. On our second to last day, the housekeepers took them away when they cleaned the room. I guess they were short of those too, and needed them for the next guests. The housekeepers also liked to shout to each other from room to room the entire time they clean the rooms. Constant yelling in the hallways for hours. Hope you don't want to sleep in. It was VERY loud. Water pressure was a mere trickle. Showering took FOREVER. One person I spoke to was without power in his room for two days. In the lobby/restaurants/public baths, without exaggeration, 100% of the time there was no liquid soap in the dispenser. They would place one of those tiny hotel bar soaps on the counter. When they were trying to be fancy, they would place the bar soap in a ceramic dish atop "decorative" rocks. The problem is, the rocks weren't smooth. You had to pick off the rocks to use the communal soap. And no paper towel either. No lights on the walkways - very dark at night. Bring your flashlight/cell phone. The beach was amazing, as is always the case in Cuba, and is what keeps us coming back. These things are small, but put together can ruin a vacation. With better management and very little investment these things can be fixed easily. Sunwing, you must insist these things are looked after or stop selling this resort.

Very pleasantly surprised. Beautiful resort. Excellent accommodations. Beautiful white sand beach that extends for miles. Plenty of choices for dining & food. Buffet restaurant Manager-Gloria was very helpful & looked after all your needs. All staff at the resort were very helpful & smiling. They really loved their job.
