Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Beautiful resort with minor issues
The hotel was beautiful with brand new rooms, modern decor and beautiful pool. I truly enjoyed the beach (shared with Esmeralda) and the fact that there were always enough beach chairs available under umbrellas. The food was good in general, but there were some occasional issues with the service (drinks forgotten, orders mixed up, running out of champagne). Overall, the resort has a lot of potential if the service issues are resolved.

Punta Cana Princess: A Place to Relax
The staff is excellent:- accommodating, cheerful and prolific. Reception also well executed at the front desk, rum in room, complimentary slippers, robes (nobody wore them) and cigars. The rooms look modern, but could be dangerous for the elderly - a sunken living area with very little space between beds and steps. If one gets disoriented, especially at night, one can fall and get hurt. Our shower was able to squeeze only warm water; telephones (2) did not work; the shampoo and bath gel need[... read more]ed a Hercules to squeeze the contents. In some cases rain water entered rooms on main level. Food decoration was awesome, and there was plenty, although it could have profited by more herbs. The "Mare Nostrum" (mainly seafood) restaurant was adequate, the "Tex-Mex" (steak house) was less so, while the Italian place served mainly pasta and pizza. House wine was below average. Pool, beach and chairs were excellent. So-so in total...

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Good resort, good food, good staff!
We went with a big group of us and because of that I am quite impressed on how smoothly it went. The food was one of the best I've had at a resort and we didn't have to wait for dinners or have to book resovations which was very helpful. The staff were all very friendly and professional. I would just recommend not having the kids floating wall climber in the same pool as the swim up bar. Other then that everything was great!

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Disapointed
Booked prefered club, room was bad( very poor lighting and tropical view was the fence dividing the resort from next property), food at alacartes was bad( no flavor and poorly cooked), most drinks were bad(everything was too sweet or you had to ask for double alcohol to taste it), vacation club reps were a total pain in the rear( had to get nasty with them to get them to leave us alone). Buffet was good, beach was good , service was good. Resort is narrow and cramped with not much to see as far [... read more]as the grounds are concerned.Vendors on the beach sat at the edge of the property like vulchers waiting for you to leave so they could pounce on you. Prefered club lounge is very small . No internet cafe or business center that I saw so make sure you bring your own laptop or tablet. Not enough here to make me want to go back or recommend it to anyone.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Decent resort
The resort was well taken care of. Rooms were OK. Food was delicious. Pools and beaches were amazing as well as bars/drinks. Hotel staff only speak French/Spanish, very minimal English so took a long time to resolve problems or issues. Resort is very large, trolley staff some were good, some not and refused to drive. Lots of options of activities. Recommend the catamaran and beach tour.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: 7TH visit in 3 years
Grand Paradise in Las Galeras are under renovations right now but didn't interfere with much.I have seen many changes in the last three years, they are always trying to make things better and they are succeeding the new pool area is spectacular. But the buildings and surroundings are a bonus, the staff at Grand Paradise are comparable to none. The maids do an excellent job the bartenders and wait staff are friendly but their animation team are awesome, they make sure everyone has a good time.Mikki,L[... read more]ima,Youseff,Magrarita,Olga,Wilson,Andular,Bombey and Judy work so hard and it is very much appreciated the place wouldn't be the same without them.
Did the eco park excursion and was really disappointed, spent a lot of time on a boat to see an island of pelicans...the cave was cool but that's were it ends.Went to Bacardi beach and was hassled non stop had to pay to sit on a beach chair.Would not recommend this excursion for the price of $110 american.Did Zip lining it was fun the zip team are excellent at the job and make you feel comfortable.
I cannot wait to go back to Grand Paradise to see the many improvements

Riu Merengue: The Beach and Bartenders are nice...that's it
The hotel is old. You will get any actual key to open your door if you go with a friend they only give you one until you ask for another. The room had roaches crawling from the drain. The bathtub is small. The wifi is only avail in the lobby. Almost like a happy jail. The food meats like chicken/beef is undercooked cause they rush it. I ended up eating only fries for lunch and that was undercooked at times. I looked forward to breakfast getting a freshly made omelette ,I'm now I'm sick of omele[... read more]ttes and won't be having eggs for awhile. Italian fresh pasta night was very good. Flies are everywhere but on the beach I guess because it's an open concept it was a turn off for me after day 1.
If you aren't a smoker like me you won't enjoy the lobby for wifi or the entertainment centre people light up like chimneys. The beach was my sanctuary. The sea bed is bit rocky and a rough under current. However, The sun is great and unlimited. Some of the staff don't seem to not give you the best service unless you tip them.
It's 10 / hr US if you want a later check out if you have a later flight. Check out is 12pm if you leave at 6 that's 60 bucks US. The room is cut off to give more patio space meh. They should've use the upgrade to fix the drains and mold in the rooms. If you sunbathe at the beach you will be out of touch with the activities happening on the resort. There's a lot of older people that go there
Enjoy your naps on the beach that's what's truly free and unlimited. Bring a lot of $1...American.
Whoever is in charge upgrade the rooms! Pay your staff more so they don't rely so much on TIPS. I won't be back lesson learned pay the extra for a comfortable stay. Don't ignore this review this is the truth take it with a grain of salt.
I'm glad I'm back home.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: The resort was very nice
The hotel was very clean, rooms spacious, good service and food. The staff was great. Their bar is very limited with domestic brands and the wine was fair. Things like Canadian Club, Baileys, Grand Marnier, Scotch, etc. you had to pay for as well as they sold better bottled wine on the resort. I didn't find the Atlantic side to be so inviting and we were on the tail end of a Hurricane so there was a lot of debris on the beach. There are massages on the beach for $20 US so that was awesome.

the resort in hold was beautiful the food was awesome the staff was great .the first 31/2 day was depressing because of the rain but after that it was great.I would go back to that resort again in a heart beat especially for the awesome food.that as to be one off the best resorts for food that I ever had.although I was limited as to what I could do due to surgery on my left knee in September and then exactly one month after knee surgery I broke my ankle on my right foot in 2 places so I was in a[... read more]n air cast. overall it was great although I feel I could use another vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: beautiful resort
The resort was of medium size very nice and clean the rooms were very spacious and the staff were very pleasant. The food was mediocre at the buffet but the food at the LaGourmet and the steak house was exceptional. I had no problems at all to complain about just did a lot of drinking and relaxing. The guys at the pool bar were great, tip them well and you will never go thirsty the lobby bar was a little "stuffy" if you know what I mean but all was well. They had 9 holes opened up at the golf[... read more] course a little rough but working on a champion 18 hole coarse. $20 us after 1 to play 9 that includes cart, clubs, balls and transportation pretty cheap for a fun afternoon. the bay was very nice to walk on if you go to the left not much to look at if you go to the right only vendors that hound the hell out of you bought a few things from them, do not pay what they ask you can talk them down to a third of their asking price. was a little far from punta cana airport about hour and a half give or take straight highway.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Disappointed 4th time repeat guest
This was my 4th time visit at the Grand Bahia Principe : 4 years ago in Bavaro, 3 years ago in La Romana, last year in Ambar. We decided this time to book Bavaro for a week on the 19th of November. It was also my boyfriend’s second time in this resort.
My boyfriend and I flew with West Jet and our flight got delayed for 6 hours. We arrive at 9:30PM instead of 3:30PM. Although I was expecting a travel voucher, West Jet only gave us 15$ meal voucher per person... contrary to Air Canada who ha[... read more]d gaven us travel vouchers last year for the delay we had encountered.
When we got to the reception, the employee who served us was unimpressed by the fact that it was my 4th time visit and my boyfriend's second time. They added that we would only be considered repeat guests if it were our tenth time visiting the hotel – which sounded doubtful since we met a couple visiting for the second time who were considered ‘’golden’’ members and got a room right in front of the beach. They told us to come back the next day to check for availabilities. When we returned, they told us again to come back the next day to check for availabilities. We then figured they were unable or unwilling to help us.
The food at the buffet had very little variety. If I recall correctly, this wasn’t the case at the Ambar nor Esmeralda side. At ‘’rush’’ hours, we had to wait in line for breakfast, for dinner and for supper. When it was pouring rain, it smelled like mold at the entrance. Sometimes we were seated on tables near buckets that were placed on the floor for water dripping from the ceiling. At times the ceiling water dripped on our table and food. Concerning the service, more than often we had to ask for coffee, for water or for wine – rarely did they offer drinks which seemed awfully surprising to me who used to find the service impeccable at both anterior visits.
At the pool buffet, I once asked if there was a table available for two and I got the answer : ‘’you have to go look for yourself’’ from the employee in charge greeting the guests.
The À La Carte restaurants were okay. My boyfriend asked for a second plate at the Garden Grill because he was still hungry and they refused claiming only one meal per person – this wasn’t the case at the Pescador where we were very satisfied with the service.
The pool bar was a lot of fun. Jose and Kelvin were very entertaining.
The beach was lacking its beauty mostly because it poured rain for 3 consecutive days. When it was finally sunny, there were no available beach chairs. People were laying extremely close to each other and there was very little space to find. We had to ourselves drag two beach chairs from close to the pool area down to the sandy beach. Also, the hotel lacked clean beach towels so we had no beach towels for 1 ½ day. There were extremely long line ups every time they brought clean beach towels and eventually there were none left for certain people. We ended up asking for used beach towels. It was ridiculous.
Overall, I felt like I was ‘’just another client’’ in a hotel who can now hold a maximum capacity of 14,000 guests and who seems to lack the resources for doing so. The hotel is very big and the trolley car in the resort was often full. It was hard to build a bond with the employees who seemed very busy trying to minimally satisfy everyone’s needs. They did not even bother asking us if we were satisfied of our visit when we checked out at the front desk. I am extremely reticent in returning to Bahia even if I used to recommend this hotel to many of my colleagues, friends and cousins. If I ever should visit again, it would definitely not be at the Bavaro side.
