Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great resort

Amazing resort. Amazing staff. Amazing food. Please note that this resort is adults only! No kids!! :) & its great for couples or a group of friends. The resort is perfect size and very accessible to all other Bahia's in the area. The beach, which is located 10 min away and the hotel provideds you with all transporstations required. Bussess come every 5 minutes & the ride to the beach and other resorts is super fun. The beach is phenomenal, cristal clear water and you get to swin with the fishes [... read more]!! Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Worst Service Ever

We have traveled all over the Caribbean over the last 10 years. Unfortunately our experience at Barcelo Maya has been very disappointing. Hotel staff is very unpleasant and extremely unhelpful across the board starting from check-in desk to restaurants and bars. Both of our kids got sick with some kind of stomach bug. Wifi was limited to a certain location at a specific time of day. The water park is an extra cost (which explains why it is deserted). There were sharp objects in the pool and we w [... read more]itnessed two separate incidents of guests getting hurt. There is little shade at the beach and little shelter from the rain at the pools. There was an obvious offensive smell in the Caribe area of the resort for most of the week that we were there. Will never go back.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Somewhat disappointed

This resort is beautiful, well kept, has fantastic entertainment, and the food is very good. The service in the A la cart restraunts is fantastic. The down side is that the resort is extremely large and understaffed. In the buffet, it was almost impossible to get a coffee, and in the evening during the entertainment the service was slow and the waiters were abrupt and less then friendly,.also, it was labeled all exclusive but the safe was an extra $5. US a day, and the alcohol was cut off at 11 [... read more] pm. And if you wanted more it was at an additional cost. As I said a very large resort and understaffed, getting a transport from lobby to room was near impossible

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Relaxing and romantic resort

This resort is being completely renovated and is beautiful The resort is quiet and offers a very relaxing atmosphere Our assigned room was modern in appearance and kept clean. All services were great and the food was excellent. The sandy beach stretches for miles offering a enjoyable walk. Riu Flamingos: Review: RIU JALISCO RESORT

Grounds(outside): garden is well kept. Nice palms and other local flora. Grounds(inside): public spaces often had garbage flying about. Was surprised by this as it was not too busy. Lots of wet surfaces even when it hadn't rained. Pool: two pools, both shaped like a fidget spinner. One for kids. Other has swim up bar. Filters are not working well so there are lots of bugs in the water. Too much chlorine. Mildew. Needs more frequent cleanup. Often their English skills were inadequate, but guests were 80% Mexican so I think that's appropriate. Food: excellent quality and selection. There were no a la carte restaurants during the week we were there despite proclamations otherwise. Annoying. 4 restaurants are actually just 4 buffets. The schedules posted on the door do not match the schedule given upon arrival and nobody cares. Ended up waiting for the doors to open in front of the main dining hall with a dozen other guests. Staff was unhelpful when we asked what time the restaurant would open. Nobody on staff knew or cared about schedules. Universal answer was "5 minutes" which had no bearing on reality. 25 minutes we all waited. Annoying. Housekeeping: fast and frequent. Free mini bar was always stocked. Room: standard size and came with the usual resort stuff. No desk unfortunately. Building: was surprised to see cracks in the walls. Tropical mildew from lack of air flow. Surprised at absent ceiling fans present everywhere else in Mexico. Transfer: typical annoying charter bus ride. Selling trapped guests on excursions, phone service, and tipping the driver. All on PA system with the volume turned way too high. It's included so can't complain too much. Entertainment: typical cheerleader-style activities where they try to get you involved and pumped up. People seemed not to mind the dance music blasting through the pool area all day, but it's not for me. Also, there were musical shows every evening. Our room faced inwards to the courtyard and reverberated with thumping base from these shows every evening until 11pm. Not cool. I feel that the RIU JALISCO is a decent resort but you should be prepared for loud music and flexible schedules. Good food and decent Beach. Proximity to town is 25 minute taxi ride. There were a lot of kids and infants. Lots. Adorable and fun, but messy and loud.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Amazing resort

No complaints. This was an amazing resort. There's so much to do, swimming, in pools or at the beach, working out at the gym, playing basketball, mini putting, bowling, there's clubs for the nightlife, there's a sports bar to watch games, and soooo many drinks. I had a great time. The trip was too short. I look at forward to coming back.

The resort is equipped with high-quality facilities. It got the beach, the sunshine, the pools, the hammocks and everything. The services and the food are great too. I enjoyed my holiday here. Don't want to leave!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Good resort

Food is amazing. Buffet and a la carte are both great. I'll recommend this resort based on food alone. The room could be better though. The ceiling in the bathroom is all patchy. The staff is pretty supportive. The beach is very nice.

Riu Santa Fe: Wonderful resort

Because of the storm Lydia I have the inspiration for only 2 days of my weeklong vacation. It was all very nice until the second day of the vacation when the storm started. The food was very delicious and in great abundance. The staff who cared for us were very friendly and entertained us all the time. My only point is that when it rains, water drips into the rooms.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort, food and most importantly... a good time!!

The Barceló Maya Colonial Beach was by far one of the best resorts I have ever visited. The food was awesome, there was always a large variety of food and freshly squeezed juices at the buffet. The a la cart restaurants exceeded my expectations, the food was so well done and the restaurants themselves were very nicely decorated to suite their theme. The restaurant called La Trattoria Ristorante Italiano was by far my favorite, the food was awesome and they had people with beautiful voices singi [... read more]ng in Italian, it really set the ambiance. I also really liked the Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant called Tokyo, our cook Carlos was great, he put on a good show and served up some delicious food; the deep fried ice cream at this place was to die for. The hotel itself was very well maintained and the staff were friendly. The beach was great, but my one critique would be that they should try and clean up some of the seaweed, this would make the beach perfect. Another part of this resort I loved was the Maya Mall, there was lots to do and their 24/h bar called Strikers was really fun and came in handy when we wanted late night munchies or drinks. All in all, I had a fabulous trip and would definitely recommend to friends and family or even go back myself!!

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: A little tired

The grounds are beautiful but the rooms are looking a little tired. My bed had a definite sag in the mattress. Although their dedication to the environment with their no straw policy is admirable it doesn't really work for frozen drinks. Great service though but we did have some difficulties getting the amenities we ordered in our room after several moves - and a lost day - they finally got it right. Great resort for handicapped or limited mobility individuals.

Occidental Tucancun: Loved it!

- Resort was very clean - Staff were friendly - Beach is amazing - Dinner at a la carte restaurants were delicious - Resort was not overcrowded - Not much walking - Lunch buffet was not my favourite

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort!

The resort was very well maintained, good food and pleasant staff. Even though sport club was well equipped, I would like to make a suggestion about the time slots for rental. I think the time should be increased from 1/2 to a full hour. Other than that all was good, and we had no time to be bored :)

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Great Resort!

Awesome place. All the rooms face the ocean and even the furthest rooms are only 50m from the ocean. Great food and nice snorkeling. Saw sea turtles, squid, stingrays and parrot fish all just 20m off the shore. They even upgraded us to the penthouse suite when they found out we were on our honeymoon. Would definitely go again!

Riu Vallarta: super fun in Vallarta

just returned from Riu Vallarta. we went as 3 generation family -me ,my 70 years old mother and my 2 children, both in their 20 and we had a fantastic time from beginning up to the very end. The workers go out of their way to make sure everyone has a enjoyable time. Beach clean daily ,pools few times a day. Bartenders greet you with smile tip or no tip. Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Lots to do!!

Just came back from a week vacation at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo. The resort was beautiful and felt luxurious. There were lots to do for our family (2 kids ages 5,7). We spent a lot of time going from lazy river, pool, wave pool and water playground. We also visited the lazy river at del mar. People working at the resort were very friendly and helpful. Never felt any pressure to tip.

Riu Flamingos: Great vacation spot for families!

I was quite nervous heading here after reading some of the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised! Overall the resort is well kept and clean. The grounds are kept in incredible shape. The rooms could use a little updating. I was definitely not thrilled by the open concept bathroom; neither was my 14 yr old son I might add! A door would have been a wonderful addition. I left jewelry/electronics out without an issue. The food was definitely a high point for us. My kids and I have celiac disease, which requires us to eat a gluten free diet. My partner has many other food sensitivities. Chef Jose and Antonio made sure we always had many many options, and I can't express enough thanks! The waitstaff was always very friendly at dinner. Danny took great care of us, as well as a couple other servers. Unfortunately they were not so friendly at breakfast, often leaving us to find our own coffee, and other drinks, condiments, etc. The pools and beach were kept pretty clean. Unfortunately the beach was not what we were expecting, but I think we've become beach snobs along our travels. The water is not clear, sand is not soft. I was surprised by the hotel not accepting American money. Not that I blame them with the current relations with the US, but it was a surprise. If you're traveling from Canada, you do not need to exchange for American as everyone used to! They will exchange Canadian. We did the polaris razor excursion. It was a lot of fun, but they gouge tourists, and don't supply transportation to the excursion. Apparently something to do with a taxi union. Had I not already told the kids we'd be doing this excursion, I would have waited a until we went to a another destination. I wouldn't recommend doing excursions here, although fun, not worth the money or stress of cabbing. There were a lot of locals at this resort, something I've never experienced before. Definitely made things a little louder, and not as English friendly- which I know, I'm in a Spanish speaking country, I should expect there to be a language barrier, it's just never been to this extreme throughout our many travels.

The resort was amazing! First of all, it actually looks like the pictures. The beach was beautiful and the pools are very large. The rooms were clean and the staff was helpful. Free wifi would be nice

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Great Family Get away !

Absolutely Stunning, well kept grounds and immaculate facilities. Truly felt spoiled with the surroundings and elegant look. Safety which was my number one priority was well structured to account for everyone on and off the resort. Very helpful staff. With the good I do have some suggestions to enhance the experience - Don't assume everyone knows Spanish allot of locals - Create walk ways for people so they are not always looking over there shoulders for golf carts flying by - The extra atte [... read more]ntion you get at the Buffets for Drinks needs to follow to all Bars, Lobby and swim up bars. - Although present and very delightful staff that brought you drinks while at pool side could be more diligent, I found we had to bulk order to accommodate for lengthy wait. By the beach it was next to no service. - Pet Peeve was refused drinks at another resort which is so accessible to anyone. If you are promoting segregation close the loop and don't make it accessible. I hate embarrassing situation to the point were you feel your not accepted. All in all my family of 5 had a memorable vacation for life and would return :)
