Barcelo Maya Palace: It is an awesome resort all around.

I thought it was a very well kept resort with great employees. The restaurants within the hotel were fabulous. One small issue we had was that we put our “Sleep & Enjoy” tag on our hotel room door knob and the maid still knocked on our door early in the morning, at approximately 8:30 a.m. after a very late night of travel and booking in. This happened more than once during our stay. I had to get up out of bed to answer the door. Overall, it was a fantastic resort to stay at.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Amazing Resort, Except For the Beach

We enjoyed staying at this resort. The beds were super comfortable, the food was pretty good and we loved being able to go to numerous different restaurants. I also loved being able to order martinis from the restaurants and the lobby bar! When we had a problem with our air conditioning, they fixed it right away, which we really appreciated. Everything was great at our resort, except for the beach. The were a lot of large boulders and numerous smaller rocks on the ocean floor, especially where you first try to get into the water, which made getting into and out the water to be very anxiety-provoking (even wearing water shoes). We ended up only going to the beach one day because of this, and I normally love to constantly be on the beach and swim in the ocean. If you are looking for a nice beach and want to leisurely swim in the ocean, this is not the resort for you!

Occidental Caribe: Not a 4 star resort

Pools and beach are amazing That’s where it ends with this resort. A/C room was broken and 28 during day 27 a night. It was 29 outside Food on the buffet is worse than Cuba Cold/no variety. Smallest fruit selection I’ve ever seen To book the restaurants you need to be in line on Sunday at 6:30am or forget about it. Only book Sunday to Sunday so if you arrive Monday Tuesday Wednesday you’re out of luck. Not enough pool/beach chairs which is a disaster I have stayed at other occidental  [... read more]resorts and they were fantastic. This was awful. Show starts at 10pm, the bed sheets were supposed to be white but they were brownish white. Sometimes no hot water or cold water. The lunch pizza above the poolside buffet was great.

Occidental Papagayo: Beautiful resort

Great resort! Beautiful view from the common areas. Escpecially the lobby! Specialty restaurants were delicious . Pool areas seemed to be in full sun all day. Some shaded areas would have been appreciated! Only complaint the view from our room was directly into palm trees. The ocean was out there but we couldn’t see it! Also had requested 2 beds got 1. Side trips were great! Really enjoyed seeing sloths @ the sanctuary!

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: GREAT RESORT

ROOMS WERE GREAT. SERVICE WAS PERFECT. ENJOYED BEACH AND POOL. GOLF WAS FUN AND CHALLENGING WITH THE WIND. ATE WELL AND WILL DEFINATELY GO BACK. STAFF WAS ATTENTIVE AND WILLING TO HELP IN ALL WAYS. VERY EASY GETTING AROUND THE RESORT AND MANY DIFFERENT PLACES TO EAT.

If you want to stay at the most beautiful resort in the mayan reviera. with the best service, the best food, the best scenery, the best beach, the best of the best of the best.. Yeah this is the place for you.

Barcelo Maya Palace: High quality resort, great spot

I will keep this short. This resort is excellent in all aspects. Attractive and well-kept grounds, helpful staff, amazing food at multiple restaurants including each of the a la cartes, big enough to be able to spread out and find the experience you want. We loved our week and would rate this place 10/10. Thanks Barcelo Maya.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Great resort

Staff were all pleasant. They need to monitor the loungers at the pool and the beach area for reserved spots that are not used. We observed people reserving loungers at the pool and the beach area for a number of hours and not use them leaving people not being able to take advantage of relaxing at the pool or the beach.

Occidental Papagayo: Mostly Good

The grounds and facilities were excellent. The only issue was with the view from our patio. It looked directly into palm trees and bushes which were there to cover the waste processing tanks. The smell/odor was especially bad in the afternoons and always drove us inside. Probably the worst view at the complex. For this reason we will not be returning to Occidental Papagayo.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Beautiful resort

Beautiful!The staff was friendly and courteous!The resort was clean and maintained!The food was very good!The Pools were clean and had some daily activities.Had premium alcohol!Have great stores...restaurants...jewelry store which i was impressed!It had pretty well everything on that resort!Well done!I would have no hesitation going back!!!!

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Great Resort to relax

The check in was quick and personalized but our room was not quite ready/available even if it was about 2pm in the afternoon. After a quick bite by the beach where the main breakfast/lunch is held, you notice right away that this is going to be fun to eat here every day! The view of the white sandy beach and turquoise water is just amazing. Finally around 3h30, still no room, this is quick fixed fixed and go to the room. The balcony facing the back alley and the Resort next door is definately not what I was looking for to relax after a day at the beach. Tried to get another room with a better view but our concierge (Carlos) was not able to work this out so we stayed it our allocated room for our 2-week stay. The grounds are well manicured with something like 4 pools and rivers throughout, very nice. The main pools are located close to the main restaurant and the beach where it is very hard to find a lounger past 9am. Although there is a sign that is very clear about not being able to through your stuff at 5am and show up at 2 in the afternoon (a little sarcastic here but you get it right?) People still do it because this rule is absolutely not inforced, so why bother? Anyways, further to this, quite a few loungers were reserved every day (with signs from the Resort no less). Good thing I would rather be at the beach where there were enough loungers there even if you show up at 10am after breakfast. The best part here was those mini tent-like sun shades that you could pull over the loungers to hide from the scorching sun. Well done. We also liked the fact that there a quite a few palm trees on the beach to get some shade as the day progresses. Meals: All breakfast can be taken at the main restaurant for buffet or at the Spices restaurant (above the main one) where things are "a la carte". Lunch can be done at both, at the main restaurant, you can select either the buffet or "a la carte" or a combination of both. Suppers have to be via a reservation with the help of your Building Concierge. This was an easy process although you can't always pick your prefered timing (from 18h00 to 22h00), for us, supper at 9pm is a little late! 6 Restaurant of various food selection and dress code. 2 of them requires gentlemen to wear long pants, collared shirt/Polo shirt and closed shoes, the others will accept shorts and shirt There is some entertainment during the day, mainly at the main pools, and in the evening at the main bar but don't expect a grandiose affaire! Unless you attend the Mexican show, held every Saturday evening. Because we arrived on a Saturday, we could not go that night andhad to settle for the following Saturday, because we were there for 2 weeks. Had we been there only for 7 days, we would have missed this. It is some kind of dinner and show and it was quite enjoyable. For the return, there are no Travel Representatives or Travel Binders to help you navigate the transport/pick-up time to the Airport, make sure you get this from your travel agent ahead of time as missing/no pick up of transport can get quite expensive by taxi for the 1 hour ride to Cancun. All in all, we really enjoyed this relaxing vacation and would recommend but if you are looking for action and games, this may not be the best place for you.

Occidental Caribe: Pleasantly surprised!

The facility was very clean. They accommodated my food allergies (gluten). A wonderful choice of food for all three meals. The Japanese à la cart was fabulous! We have been to the DR 15 times-first time beef was not an option on the grill. Only pork, chicken and calamari. Some of the bars had watered down drinks. Our room was not fully stocked-you had to request things. Other patrons did not have that issue. We will definitely return, excellent beach!

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Resort was very clean!

Everything was lovely, Nicolle referred the Barcelo Tropical and did not mislead us it was what she said. As we have stayed at the Bahai we did miss the entertainment at nights that they hold outside with different people playing guitar and singing. The resort itself did not disappoint with rooms and food. Very good! Entertainment we missed. Thanks again to your team for another beautiful resort!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Short and kinda sweet…

Solo traveler looking for something easy. I did have a quick stay and honestly, kinda grateful. The beach is stunnnnnnning and very well maintained, just be prepared to fight for your chair. They are all gone well before 8:30 AM. The walk to the lobby is a walk, be prepared. I checked in late and there wasn’t an anyone to show me to my room. With multiple trips back to the lobby bc I was lost and couldn’t access the door, I was exhausted lol. Room was ok, but definitely needed cleaning! I do tra [... read more]vel with my own sheets and thank god lol. The hot tub on the balcony was disgusting and I didn’t use it. Food was ok, didn’t travel for the food so the reviews were right, it’s hit or miss depending where you eat. Honestly - the sun and weather made up for everything else and the peace and quiet of my quick getaway was so needed.

Occidental Tucancun: Poor

Too many,many stairs , the ocean was with red flags all10 days that we were there I didn’t go to the ocean not even one day, and to books the al la cart it was at 7.00 in the morning you had to be there at 6.30 in the morning to get a reservation because they is only 4 restaurants I don’t Recommend this resort

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: BARCELO Puerta Vallarta

This resort is a lovely place. It is not an overly large resort, which is what we had hoped for. It is beachfront on a bay at Mismaloya. It is a 25 minute drive south of Centro PV. Fifty minutes from PVR airport. There are 3 or 4 pools including a children's pool with a built-in slide. Some staff do recreational programs in the pool area. Leading aqua fit and some games. It was very spacious with kin [... read more]g-size bed, large walk-in shower, small sitting room plus bedroom with couch, dresser, dining table and two chairs. There is a large balcony with view of pools and ocean. There are only a few other resorts around it but there are no other facilities outside the resort. A large buffet dining room overlooks the beach and ocean, plus 3 theme restaurants ( all included in the price). We found all the staff friendly and attentive. The weather was perfect 28 degrees C average. We enjoyed our stay at Barcelo PV very much.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Beautiful resort with so much to do

We travelled as a group of 5, 2 rooms. We upgraded to premium upon arrival, which we felt was worth it. We were able to get dinner reservations at all of the à la cartes we wanted, though they were mostly at 9 pm. The food at all of the buffets and restaurants was exceptional, we enjoyed snorkeling and seeing the turtles and had the great fortune of seeing the monkeys 2 mornings. The grounds were beautifully kept and we found all staff to be really wonderful and friendly.

Occidental Cozumel: NOT a 5-star

Off the top, I have to say that the service team at this hotel ( speaking only of the servers that worked the buffets, pool bars and entertainment team) were wonderful! Unfortunately, that was the best part of the resort. Upon our arrival, the check-in was a terrible experience. We booked a deluxe double room (two beds - in fact, our entire group of 8 each booked the same, so 4 rooms). They gave us each, except for one room, a king size bed. When questioned they basically just shrugged and sai [... read more]d there was nothing she could do. Anytime we asked for assistance or directions during the week, we were greeted with a grunt and a chin jab by the same girl. ROOM - Fine when all is said except cleanliness - the cleaning staff do not have an attention to detail one would expect from a 5-star resort. FOOD - NOT GOOD. I have traveled through Mexico extensively over the last 15 years and stayed anywhere from 3 to 5 star resorts...mainly 5-star over the last 4 years, the food was 3.5 stars at best and they do not take major allergies into consideration. One of our friends has a seafood allergy and had to keep asking for special accommodation which they could not always grant. The a la carte restaurants were difficult to get a table at and the food was always served lukewarm or even cold. Oh, and don't expect a balcony unless you are lucky enough to be assigned to the building closest to the beach...or upgrade to the royal level (I'm just assuming that they have their own block of rooms woth balconies). I have never stayed anywhere in Mexico that did not have a balcony - I know - first world problems but there you have it. For what we paid, which worked out the same as what I paid at Secrets Maroma just 4 months prior, I expected the same level of service and accommodations. I could go on but what I have commented on are the key components that can make or break the customer experience.

Occidental Tamarindo: Amazing resort

The resort is old but it is maintained well the staff do an exelant job their and the beach is amazing . You feel safe their food is great people are great ! Pool is clean and if their is any problem at all it would be only to bars you might have to wait in line for a drink sometimes .

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Lovely Resort

The Royal Hideaway was probably the most beautiful resort we have ever been to. The grounds were meticulously cared for. The rooms were beautiful. We had three in our room and had lots of space with the bedroom a dressing room and the bathroom. We were on the ground floor and had a lovely patio which we used quite often. However, we could not resist b [... read more]eing on the most beautiful beach on the Yucatan. It was spectacular!! Long walks in the morning were great. The hotel did a really good job picking up the sargasim in the mornings. Now the food. Not good. Very small buffet that after 10 days got very boring. The restaurant reservation system is a nightmare!! Had a very hard time getting reservations before 9 pm until we got the manager involved. We can only think they were having labour problems as whenever you did get seated early the restaurant wasn't even half full. So, if you are willing to put up with this frustration than I would say it is a fabulous resort.
