Club Karey: Great experience

I do not why anyone would complain? It is 2.5 star resort. It was great. The staff and I get along excellently. It is an affordable resort, which leaves you money to go for excursions. Beautiful beaches. 2 4 star hotels next by. Great, authentic Cuban performers. Those who would like to hear only English are strange. You will listen to French and Russian languages, which are beautiful. The only disadvantage was the fact we were told that we should change the rooms our second day of stay; however [... read more], we were moved from bungalow to the hotel, which is better and closer to the restaurant. Cubans are great people, and one should not forget that they do this 365 days in hot conditions. Be kind and understanding, not formally but actually.

Club Kawama: Amazing once again

In our opinion my hub y and I have traveled 4 yrs in a row with the same agent at trip central candice and she has always done over and above for us we love club kawama varedero for many reasons 1st is the beach then it goes to the people and forever friends u meet....Its a 3 star and nothing fancy but great staff grounds clean food will suck anywhere in cuba entertainment well when u meet the kinda people we do it's the best...Kawama is walking distance to everything and I mean everything..As f [... read more]or the rooms plan Jane but they sure look after u expesically if u r a repeter for the rest of our lives...The only bad thing I have to say is be prepared to have a good time of not pay 1300 alone for 1 person at a 5 star instead of 1250 for 2....Thanks again trip central and candice for always helping us....

Club Kawama: One of my favourite places for fun in the sun.

This hotel is old but full of charm and fun people. The grounds were kept beautifully while I was there considering there were a couple of downpours that knock lots of leaves etc. down from the trees. 3 a la carte restaurants and the buffet have lots of food choices, I am always able to eat good meals while there. Friendly staff everywhere to help you. Love the shows in the evening. The rooms I have had were clean with some repairs needed. The hotel was ok but they ran out of toilet paper at the pool bathroom every day other than that the entertainment was good every night I would recommend the hotel to a friend I would come back next year food could of been better

Resort staff was amazing as always. Times are tough right now in cuba in general and you could feel the difference everywhere you went. Grounds and buildings need repair but are almost 80 years old...

Club Kawama: Awesome beach

This is second time, good value for your money , great walking distance from restaurants, markets, if u like to fish bring your rod as its on the other side of the street. Beach is amazing you can always see your feet. This is a resort that is so ive been told 1 km long so if u are at the other end be prepared for a walk. Very layed back resort so if you are looking or your fancy blended drinks, really good mojitos this isnt the place athough they do make awesome lime dacquiris. Rooms are very old so be prepared if you didnt book superior, we did and we still had to see manager and they gave us a room in perfect location. Cuba just broght in a new law a couple of months ago that you cannot use pesos at the airport when waiting to leave so make sure you change yoyr money back at bank or airport before u go though security. You also might want to pack a sandwich at hotel so u dont have to buy at airport as only 1 restaurant and sandwich venues that are overpriced. Also buy your booze and presents in town airport double the price. We had a great time at Kawama will go again as it is a relaxed atmosphere and you can always get a lounge chair! Bring a flashlight as its not very well lit at night and if u use a facecloth bring that to. Hope this gives u a little idea of the property!

Club Karey: NOT a 2 star resort

When I booked this resort I knew I was getting what I paid for but when I arrived it was a totally different situation. The light in the Hall in 7 days I was there did not get fixed. I was asked to pay a Key deposit fee which I was never explained before and a towel rental fee for non existent pool towels I did get my money back $20.00 CAD when I checked. I had 2 small hand towels for showering the 7 days i was there they were never changed. The food situation was minimal at best I managed most of the week at breakfast, the lunch bufftet and the dinner buffet were the same daily there were no desserts, also the snack bar closed at 4pm when the website says 6:30. This resort is a very low end resort and you basically get what you paid for but this resort really lacked in other areas no toilet paper in the pool area bathrooms, alot of things missing

Club Kawama: Kawama !!!! Built in 1934,

Don't go there !!! Everything is old and not renovated, the picture are not realistic of what it is in 2020. Same food all day, all week. People are not sympatic. The only do something for you if you tips before, and you have to give a big tip. In my room, I was supposed to be refill in the fridge each day, Nothing done all week. Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Outdated resort

Old resort run down no hot water for a week,broken patio door inscects galore and the mosquitos were hell.I had over 200 bite on the 2 day,By the way I had insect repellant.After 2 weeks I had over 500 bites no joke.I was itching and scratching the whole time.The staff were rude and expecting tips all the time or you get the side look.My vacation was a disaster.I could not wait to get home the only good thing was the weather.Sorry for the spelling errors.

Starfish Cayo Largo: Amazing vacation

This is our second time at this resort and we are so happy we chose it again. Everything was great: long beach and so beautiful, hotel grounds and rooms kept clean, meals: many choices. All staff was working hard to make everyone’s vacation the best experience. Thank you Sol Pelicano, we had an amazing week.

Club Kawama: Great resort but needs a bit of T.L.C.

It isn't my first time there, I believe my 7th. But the last couple of times I noticed that it's starting to need some renos. We would wake up every morning to a mountain of sand in the bath full of ants that would somehow come out through the drain. We would rinse it and it would come right back overnight. We also had a none working A.C. all week. Our room neighbour had a broken toilet all week that they couldn't flush at all, they made a complaint at the front desk and it never got fixed. Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Nice budget resort

First of all this is not a good resort if you want to swim. The water is knee deep for approximately 300 yards offshore. I found a spot after walking approximately 2km,deep enough to swim but the current was very strong parallel with the shore. The place is good for kite boarding. Food not great, not terrible either 3/5. Room not bad, clean, hot water and a/c available 4/5. Resort did not have map of some kind, or an envelope for key card and other documents. Ocean vegetation most of the time, a tractor was trying to remove it everyday but only partially succeeded. Beach 3/5. Water nice and warm, nice color when no vegetation, not good for swimming, very good for kites. Water 4/5

Club Kawama: Good

Pool area was great. Lots of chairs and cute little shade huts. Beach was beautiful with lots to do. Rooms were good hot water and a/c worked great. Food was good different every night. Kikis a little restaurant off the resort was really good !! I will be back.

The grounds were very nice and the rooms pretty good. Food was much better. Unfortunately the room staff wasn’t as good as the last time we were there. A couple times we didn’t get any towels and water. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar staff was very good except one would give to his friend before other customers and I heard him say this to a customer waiting. We booked the adults only section and people brought their kids to the pool and restaurant. I thought this was  [... read more]wrong as we paid extra for adults only. But overall was a nice holiday.

Club Kawama: Club Kawama

Loved my visit here. Beautiful beach. Amazing array of food, prepared with a lot of care. Walking distance to many interesting places. Staff friendly, as long as you tip periodically. This is a three star resort and is what you can expect for this rating. The beach is easily a five star!

Roc Barlovento: Great little Gem

We have been repeaters to this resort for approximately 8 years and generally go twice a year. We love the location. The beach is great and is walking distance to the market and downtown. Rooms are moderate and clean.

Hotel Villa Cuba: very bad resort

We went there last year and it was much better and cleaner, the food was much better with a lot of variety. This year the food was very bad and hygiene wise all the plates not clean properly, beds in the room all the sheats are dirty and itchy you feel something is bitting you all over your body like bed bugs we came back home and all our bodies were itching like crazy. We're very disappointed we will never go back there again. all our body is full of red marks an itching from the bed bugs [... read more] and from the food and from dirty dishes.

Our room was clean but dated and needed some repairs. The grounds are clean.... nothing spectacular. The beach at hotel pelicano was one of the only beaches on the island where you could actually lounge on. The ocean was to rough to actually swim in while we were there. There was only fanta and coke available for drink mix all week. Unfortunately we don't drink either so we really didn't get to enjoy to many drinks. As well no red wine for dinner service all week. The snack bar didn't have [... read more] fries until the last 3 days of our trip. The buffet was pretty much the same every day with a few exceptions. Canned fruit most days with very little fresh fruit. The power went out a couple of times during the week. No water one day for about 8 hours. We got a great deal on the vacation and would've been really disappointed if we had paid full price.

Club Kawama: Average resort

Obviously an older resort however most everything worked. My room was clean and the grounds were tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful. At night it was difficult to get around since the lighting was not good. The food was fine and I enjoyed the Itlantian restaurant. The location was great. You were a short walk from the town.

Club Kawama: Club Kawama needs to up it's meal quality/selection

The staff was friendly helpful and generally fantastic! The entertainments were OK, although I really do not like rap culture which was about 2/3rds of the nightly music programming at the stage beside the lounge. One night on the other hand, a rock band nailed the International Submarine Band / Byrds / Flying Burrito Brothers "Cosmic American Music" sound pioneered by Gram Parsons and Neil Young et al. in the late 1960's and early 1970's. But the buffet restaurant became ve [... read more]ry predictable and sometimes included under-cooked elements (like under-done potatoes in an egg salad from the cold table for example). The oil that all the grill chefs on site used added a taste I hated which made every meat taste the same (needless to say I didn't eat much meat). All in all a good experience - as is 27C and sunny for a Canadian in January! :)
