The Pyramid Cancun: Amazing looking resort

The pools and “rain forest” inside the resort look awesome. Lots of options to eat with the pyramid wristband. Food was decent. Somethings were really good and others were just ok but lots to choose from. Plenty of bars and nightclubs on the resort plus a casino. It’s a party resort so if you want to stay away from the party scene I’d suggest staying in the pyramid and not the cheaper options

The Pyramid Cancun: Terrible! Avoid This Place!

I don’t even know where to start with this review. I’m writing it so others do not make the mistake that I did and book at this hotel, which (very fishy!) goes by several names—Sian Ka’an at Sens Cancun, The Pyramids at Grand Oasis, Grand Oasis Cancún, Grand Oasis Palm, Grand Sens Cancun, Oasis Cancun Lite, Oasis Palm, Oh! The Urban Oasis, Smart Cancun by Oasis, but they are all THE EXACT SAME PLACE! Their website is just plain not true, neither are the photos. This is NOT a 5 star (or [... read more] 4 star) resort by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe 3-3.5 stars at best. I purchased a one week all inclusive adult only “luxury” ocean front room in the Sian Ka’an section in the “Pyramids” which included the black bracelets that are much more expensive and are SUPPOSED TO offer extra luxury benefits like no kids, adult only pools, exclusive beach, bar and restaurant areas, but please know that THEY DON’T—ITS A TOTAL SCAM. Bracelet differences are not enforced AT ALL and kids are everywhere. When I asked about it and said I paid a lot extra for an adult only area for my room, an adult only pool and beach area etc. They said “sorry, but our policy changed last week.” I said “what? You can’t do that” and they just shrugged. It seemed to be a theme with other disappointed guests I talked to that the staff would just smile and say “yes, and we’re really sorry”. Here’s the deal—they sell day passes and overnight short stay passes and this appears to be a BIG part of their business. This means that about 70% of the people at the resort on any given day are locals out for the day with their families. This is fine, but the resort needs to TELL PEOPLE this so they can decide for themselves if this is the experience they want of crowds of people coming and going. It makes everything extra busy with people who are not even really staying at the resort! Plus, for me, one of the fun parts of going to a resort is meeting others who are also on vacation—it just creates a fun vibe—and that’s completely missing here. As well, be prepared to line up for ALL of your food, even the buffets. There’s no just walking in on your own schedule and choosing your own table from all the open tables. Instead, you must line up to give your room number wherever you go to eat, no matter if it’s a restaurant or a buffet. And don’t even try to take a snack to your room from the buffet because they will flat out not allow you to...oh, and the 24 hour room service that the website refers to does not exist. Neither does the pillow menu, the espresso machine in your room, the premium L’Occitane bath products, or the premium drinks in the in room fridge—in fact there are no premium liquors anywhere here without paying extra. The alcohol they serve at all the bars is the cheapest available with unrecognizable names in big plastic jugs—just gross really. Rooms are dated and really noisy because they have adjoining doors so you hear EVERYTHING your neighbours are doing. I moved 2 doors down from my first room because the door lock was broken off so you could not lock it from the inside. Additionally lots of things in the room didn’t work—and this was in my new room. When I got there the fridge didn’t work and neither did the safe. I had to call down and wait for someone to fix them. Only half the electrical outlets worked and only one bed side lamp worked. I will definitely not return to this resort or any “Ossis” related resort because it’s all the same place.. It’s a run down party place for 20 year olds and a day resort for locals. Selling and marketing the Sian Ka’an or Pyramid sections as “luxury” or “adult only” is a blatant lie.

Grand Oasis Cancun: The highs are high, and the lows are low

You do NOT need the black wristband. You have access to around 75% of the restaurants with the blue (middle tier). You can also, if you really want to, buy the black wristbands for a day or two (we did for the last couple days of our stay), if you really want to try out one of the fancier restaurants and bar/lounges (they are only SORT of worth it?). You also get access the cooler beach beds, but a lot of them are in dead sunlight, and you have to camp with your towels early AF if you want to ac [... read more]tually get a beachbed. Otherwise it's just access to a nicer bar by the beach, and I couldn't even tell you what else. The black level buffet was nice, but basically just high quality version of the normal buffets. The pros: Amazing entertainment in terms of bar selection and evening activities. Basically a fully functional circus that performs almost nightly that is actually genuinely impressive Kinky Nightclub does almost nightly full productions of burlesque, etc. Beach was GORGEOUS. Pool was pretty cool - you could swim a long way in like a long wrap around deal. Swim up bars. Interesting features that are cool for kids like water spout things, stuff to climb over that decided the sections, and sharp rocks. Amazingly wide selection of food options, including some amazing Mexican options (Sarape restaurants, the La Placita snack section) Top foods: all the tacos (Hippie Chic Fish tacos, Sarape Tacos, Placita Tacos), Ceviches/Tartars, Chicken Tenders. If alcohol is your goal, congrats. They pour like 50% alcohol in their drinks. We actually had to ask for LESS alcohol. The Cons: Exactly 0 soundproofing between the rooms in the regular hotel (apparently the more expensive rooms are better). I could literally hear EVER MUTTERED CONVERSATION as if it was right beside me. Someone's alarm consistently went off at 4:30am and I was basically convinced it was coming from my phone. It is a party resort. There are young men yelling at all the godawful hours of the night in the room next to you. You will be intimately aware of their successes and failures on Tinder. You will become familiar with the song that "changed their life, bruh." You will overhear the friendship that is telling Diego to not fall asleep bro, Diego, don't throw up bro! DIEGO! SWALLOW IT DIEGO!!! Food could be fairly hit or miss. Eating earlier during the restaurants' service hours tends to help, as the foods is less rushed/they haven't run out of items. I'd say the food was maybe a 7/10. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THE STEAKHOUSE. This resort really just sucks at the basics: LINES. LINES. LINES. Want lunch or dinner? Go before you're hungry, to start waiting in line. Want to attend the circus? Show up an hour early for seats. Kinky Bar - same. We went during Feb 10 - 8, which I feel like is pretty peak attendance time. There were TOO many people to be comfortably at the resort. The poor employees were overworked to the max. They were all putting out food at max speed, but there were still constant lines. It's HUGE and mazelike. We were still trying to figure out best routes to get from A to B by 7 days in. For some unknown and terrible reason, some restaurants have the same name? There are 3-4 Dos Lunas. 2 Sarape's. 2 Hippie chics. WHY. Getting water is annoying - there was exactly 1 area to pour your own water. Everything else was having to find a bar, wait in line, and then get water. Bathrooms in the common areas were NOT near anywhere I wanted a bathroom, like the beach, or immediately beside a pool, or not in a far flung corner of the lobby, not at ALL in the lobby of the hotel buildings. You need to also be ready to head to the bathroom early before you really need to pee after drinking on the beach. Bathrooms were only really solid to use in the morning. Not a lot of upkeep was happening during the day (again, because I think they were ludicrously understaffed) so pray you didn't need toilet paper, or just go back to the lobby bathroom or your room. I hover-peed FAR too often. The floors were wet AF with pool/sea water, and probably piss. Again, probably because of the crowdedness, but maybe not: I feel like there weren't enough beach chairs. It was ALWAYS a struggle to get them if you showed up too late in the morning. I know this is a common problem at resorts, but I genuinely feel like this was the least amount of beach chairs I've seen at a resort, and it is the biggest resort I've been to to date. Bars are cool but PACKED and not in accessible/chill outdoor areas. There's not really a nice like "just sit outside at night and drink" bar. Smallest but maybe most annoying issue: towels. They don't do the towel card system, so you always need to carry your beach towel. There were "levels" of towels, and a few in our group ended up with lower tier towels by accident and couldn't go back. One ended up receiving a straight up bathroom towel and was screwed for the rest of the trip.

The Pyramid Cancun: really disappointed

Hi julie, I just wanted to say how disappointed I was with our recent stay at grand oasis. the place was extremely understaffed. There would be one bar tender for hundreds of people, never premium alcohol, hour long waits just to get into the buffets for food and numerous problems with the room. Grand Oasis Palm: Not impressed at all

I booked with Grand Oasis Palm, paying a higher price than other family members who booked oasis palm. when we arrived we were told Grand Oasis and Oasis where now in the same building, but that Grand oasis guests had better rooms with more modern furniture. What a joke ! Room in the first floor had better furniture. We didn’t even get an ocean view so we payed more a lot more for nothing !! We did not bother to try anything else as we felt we were Just overcharged for nothing. i was told I could use both Oasis and Grand Oasis amenities but guess what, there was only one crowded pool as the “grand oasis” building and pool became and adults only resort, not for us. Most of the people at the hotel were good but a few, believe me, they should not be the on this business, they have no idea of how to treat people! Please DON’T FALL on this trap. It is a waste of your hard earned money. I’m actually putting a formal claim as this is false advertisement. !! And please Oasis Palm or Grand Oasis palm Mgr. DO NOT BOTHER to reply with your copy and paste/ FIT ALL response, that I would never come back or recommend this place.

The Pyramid Cancun: Fantastic Resort!

This was our second time to the Pyramid at Grand Oasis and we discovered and tried a few more restaurants. Our room was clean with lots of towels, the beach was great although it was windy the week we were there. The evening entertainment is absolutely spectacular. VIP check in/out was fast and efficient and the staff are friendly and courteous. We would definitely recommend this resort.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Horrible Resort

Honestly this was my worst vacation ever. I want to first off say it has nothing to do with the employees. They were all very nice but the quality of this resort is beyond horrible. The food was the worst I’ve ever had and made me not want to eat at all. No flavour just bland overall and the same things everyday. The alcohol selection was extremely basis for a 4 star and all the expensive bottles were filled with water to make it look like they had expensive stuff but they didn’t. The checki [... read more]n process took over 1hr with only one person working the checkin desk and multiple employees walking around. I would never recommend anyone to go and stay at this resort. My friends and I would never go back and are extremely disappointed on how this hotel is rated as a 4 star but is barely even qualified for a 2 star. You really need to re-evaluate the rating of this resort.

The Pyramid Cancun: Good time with friends :)

Overall really enjoyed this resort! We got a free upgrade to ocean view which was awesome... only downfall was they were doing a lot of construction in the building which could be loud at times. Room was on smaller side but clean and adequate. No issues with hot water... although the toilet acted up a few times. Staff was always very responsive to any issues. Mini fridge was restocked daily (Coors Light; Coca Cola, Water) Food was awesome! Beach and pool areas very clean. Lots of things  [... read more]to do a night time as well. Lots of security. WiFi worked throughout the resort. It's a big resort so be prepared to do a lot of walking... took a few days to learn how to navigate. Definitely worth the extra money to upgrade to the Pyramid.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Nice Resort

This was a really big resort. The restaurants were delicious, the ocean view room was really nice, and it was really clean. Lots of pools and the beach was gorgeous. The only thing is that this seems to be a party resort. They have a beach club that starts pounding music at 11, and it draws a large younger crowd of party goers. Just good to know if you’re looking for a quieter environment, this isn’t the place to go.

Grand Oasis Cancun: I was expecting better than that

Bad service, food was ok. You had to wait 20 mins to get a drink. Security guards were acting rough. The food wasn’t what I was expecting. I stayed 4 days in the resort and finally ended up in a airbnb. But best place to party and have fun.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Gorgeous resort

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and huge, all areas are clean and with lots of attractions like exotic birds, lizards and fish. It’s huge and surrounded by a 1 km pool with many bridges to cross to the other side. Even though our room was nice and clean I regret not having a dresser and a combination safe. The weather didn’t allow us to enjoy the beach though. The staff was very courteous and customer service was good. Our favourite dining was at Tul Kun buffette

Grand Oasis Cancun: Never going back

Despite the fact that we spent way more money for this resort we were extremely disappointed. Food was awful Shortage of supply hence long line ups everywhere. I did not take vacation time and spend money to stand in lines. Specially for breakfast. Half hour to get a table and another half hour to get two eggs. They would not do anything to accommodate by switching another restaurant to breakfast mode to help the guests. Some staff were very rude specially at the sushi restaurant. Oversold or over crowded and if you wake up past 8 am you wont be able to find any chair around the pool or the beach. Our AC stopped working and finally after 2 days they switched our room. Grand Oasis Cancun: So so!

The check in line up was HUGE. We had arrived at 11 pm after a 5 hour delayed flight and didn’t get to our room until 12 am. We were told that there is only one restaurant open after 12 am which was 2 miles away from our room. In addition, we had to ask around and wait for a bell man to take our luggage to the room. We were told that wifi would be complimentary prior to arrival. When we got there we were told it was not. Such a shame. Other than that, food was good at Dos Lunas and the oasis  [... read more]beach club was the highlight of the resort. Bar closes at 1 am at night which was quite lame but we ended up going to Coco Bongo so that worked out.

Grand Oasis Palm: Excellent resort!

Fantastic service in all departments; top-notch gourmet food and beverages; Adults only; great beach; tastefully renovated premises; satisfactory tennis court; etc. My only complaint, and it is a major one, is absolute lack of acceptable entertainment; and the little of it there was, came with horrible sound system; lousy performers and a totally incompetent DJ, who was either deaf or totally amature for the job. "Turn the volume to MAX" must have been the only thing he learned in music school! [... read more]!! In fairness though, the only positive in the entertainment category over our 10-day stay was the externally-sourced Circus night, which we enjoyed very much.

Oh Cancun The Urban Oasis: Not entirely what we expected

The hotel in real life is alot more grittier then the photos you see online. The furniture has damage marks on it and although the bathrooms were cleaned every day there were rust stained marks on the bathroom floor and the sink had a crack in it. There are no fans in the shower area of the bathroom. . The hotel staff including housekeeping, bartenders, reception staff, grounds keepers are all pleasant and want to make your hotel stay wonderful although whenever we called the Front Desk receptio [... read more]n the phone just rang and rang so we gave up. The breakfast that was included with the price of the room was mediocre at best. It was scrambled eggs each morning and sometimes cold. The variety was not there and it appeared that no one was monitoring the breakfast buffet to ensure the utensils used were clean or someone to clean up the messes made by the hotel guests when plating their food. The coffee was awful and no cream was provided. After 3 days we ate breakfast away from the hotel. The pool area is beautiful but too many trees so you only have 2-3 hours at best for suntanning. We specifically booked this hotel because the website stated it was 'adult only'. This was not accurate. We saw children/babies at breakfast and in the pool so not impressed with the deceit. This hotel leans towards being a 'budget' hotel so I would rate it as 2 star at best.The area surrounding the hotel is extremely noisy with lots and lots of traffic and not really pleasing to the eye. The city of Cancun should make improvements to the landscaping in the area as many tourists visit this area. There is no beach anywhere near the hotel so that is a big negative and not what we were told in advance. We had to take an uber or take the bus. There is ongoing tension between the uber drivers and taxi drivers which made it awkward for us as tourists. We enjoyed exploring around the area of our hotel and stumbled across many authentic areas of Cancun which was a bonus.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Attractive Setting

Excellent Beach - White sand and clear, turquoise waters, clean; there are some large waves so being able to swim is important if you go out beyond waist deep, but they are not overly powerful so it is quite safe and fun. Life guards make sure that you stay within safe areas. Food is very good quality and variety with a buffet restaurant and several a la cartes to choose from (reservations not needed except for one). Grand Oasis Cancun: GREAT VACATION!

After booking we were a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews from recent guests. We upgraded to the Pyramid, so it would include many of the items that were not included (based on the complaints) ie: many bars, drinks, restaurants, private locations, etc. I'd highly recommend it! The resort is very large and has many activities. So many, we weren't able to take them all in. Everything was laid out very well and maintained above average. We had a couple of little problem [... read more]s, but the front desk was very helpful and we assume that the complaints we read about on the reviews were due to poor opening conversations in how they wanted things addressed. The bar staff was great/fun, the servers were awesome as well. Drinks were great! Food was decent, but some restaurants better than others. I'm not a fan of returning to the same location more than once, because there is so much to see in the world, but this was one of the first resorts that I would actually consider returning too! Definitely a great bang for the buck!

Grand Oasis Cancun: Great all around

I absolutely loved the view from my room. No complaints about the staff either. Nothing is ever perfect but the great aspects vastly outweighs the minor hiccups encountered. Clean beautiful room, friendly staff and well maintained very beautiful resort with a great layout. Would visit again.

Oh Cancun The Urban Oasis: Comfortable stay in the city

Nice hotel room and a good pool. Bus stop to the Hotel Zone is nearby. Big supermarket and crafts market are across the road. The air conditioning is the room was blowing very hard and could not be regulated.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Money Grab

I'm not sure what I expected; I was travelling alone and was told that I wouldn't have problems at such an experienced resort. I thought that I had purchased a premium vacation but it turned out that my all inclusive stay was subject to a lot of extra costs including internet, safe, and shows. The check in was brutal as well-I arrived at the hotel before noon and stood in line for well over 2 hours. I knew that I would not have a room until 3-which i was not upset about, but I didn't end up in m [... read more]y room until 5. The resort is huge so you'll need to keep you're map handy to find you're room and locate food buildings. If you're under 35 and like to party be sure to visit over the weekends-they have lots of entertainment for party people. The best I can say about this hotel is that the resteraunt food was good, the bed was comfortable, and the hotel grounds were stunning. I'd visit Mexico again in a heart beat but I won't be staying at the Grand Oasis.
