Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Relaxing vacation

The Rex Grenadian is lovely property, very quiet and well maintained. Rooms are a bit tired but always clean, food is very simple but tasty. No animation team, but will be good for relaxing peaceful stay.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Simple resort

The grounds of the hotel were okay. The rooms were not good at all. Our room was not good at all... Our tv was so badly damaged, our safe had to be fixed, the pipe from the sink to the drain was completely missing they did repair it, the closet doors were missing and after being asked they did replace the bedding with a new one. The food was okay but not much of a selection. I would not return to this resort.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Ok Resort

Nice small resort. No coffee maker or bottled water in the room. No snack bar for if you get hungry after dinner or anytime of the day. Beautiful weather and ocean. Nice pool. I recomend the catamaran cruise it's a blast. Make sure you sit up front cz when the carribean sea meets the alantic ocean you get soaked by the waves it's so cool. Also took the island tour by taxi. Got to see alot of culture and history. Stopped at a cpl of nice beaches to swim and had a nice carribean lunch. Rex Papillon: clean & friendly resort, but needs improvements

The rooms were clean & the maid service very good. However, the shower either ran cold or boiling hot. There was no way to set it so that nice warm water came out. There were no hooks in the bathroom to hang hand or bath towels. Our group had 3 rooms & all 3 were the same. In addition, all of our keys opened each other's room doors. The staff were friendly & [... read more] nice. the buffet was not large but the food was very tasty. However, there was very little selection - usually 3 different ones plus a mixed fruit dish. The staff was very nice & polite. The activities were non-existent. At night they usually had different local bands which were ok but not great. The activities included aqua fit on tuesdays & thursday & a game called fisher prize which entailed using a fishing pole & a metal ring which had to be placed around the neck of a bottle. The entertainment director needs more imagination. There were few children there & this was the main game played daily - for the adults. There were no dance lessons or aerobics etc & no gym. the beach was nice but hard to enjoy as the waves were high. We had a red flag every day except for the day before we had to leave. We went on a catamaran tour which included a trip to the pitons, lunch, & snorkelling. However, no one came with you to snorkel & you had to swim for about 5 to 7 minutes to get to the reef without a guide or life jacket. I thought that was pretty lax nit to mention dangerous. What some had had a heart attack in the water. The point being that they did not orovide a guide or insist you wear a life jacket. The food at the snack bar was good but the service was very slow & found the server rude. You coukd not approach the counter & order what you would like but had to wait for the server.

The hotels location is perfect. The beach is perfect ! All the staff are amazing. Go out of their way to ensure your satisfied. Food is very good - changes constantly. Hotel and rooms are tired. These need a facelift.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Great Resort!!

Rex Halcyon Cove is a small resort with great friendly staff and good food. We found that we were able to get around the resort easily and it also allowed you to get to not only know the staff but all the great guests. You can keep to yourself or meet new people. The beach was amazing. They only have one pool which is a nice size if that is what you like. The resort is a bit tired but is being worked on and updated. I would recommend staying here. We met people that have been going there for years.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Pleasant Resort, Beside the Ocean

The Grenadian by Rex is a 3-4 star resort, 5 minutes from the airport in Grenada. Beautiful grounds with a variety of room locations. The beach is lovely.We had an ocean view room which required climbing a good deal of stairs but looking out on the ocean made it worthwhile. I would ask for an beach side room next time. The room was very clean, the bed was a king with a very hard mattress. The bathroom was partially renovated with the bath and shower needing work at this time. There is also one a la carte-The Oriental that has mixed reviews from guests that we met. Lunch may be taken in the dinning room by the pool, located on a hilltop with a lovely view. The hotel buildings are a little tired overall. S taff are very friendly but service was slow at times. All in all, we enjoyed our time here. We took an island tour through Air Canada. Our guide and driver, Michael was great. It is a worthwhile way to see the island. We would go again! We met many guests who return here year after year.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Beautiful Beach

The grounds are beautiful and if you are looking for complete relaxation with nothing to do but sit on the beach then this is the place for you. Dinner needs to be improved on as the meal is always chicken fish and another meat pretty boring. A pasta station at dinner would be a nice addition. The rooms need to be fixed up as they are really dated.

Rex Papillon: A three dressed up as a nine

A quaint resort, only 110 rooms. The resort could use some serious improvement the pool deck has lots of ceramic tiles that are slippery when wet, and the surface surrounding it is very uneven. The rooms are patch work updated with only some tiles renewed None of the furniture matches but they are clean, and really how much time do you spend in the room? I recommend travelers bring a decent supply of snack items as there isn't an option on the resort for evening food once the buffet closes. The grounds are well kept. The beach is public but we weren't bothered by locals selling items at all. There was not a lot of area of beach but it was clean and the surf shop staff are helpful with chairs and umbrellas. Speaking of helpful, the staff at this resort are the absolute best! We requested crab legs for dinner one day and that evening they provided our group with trays of delicious crab What the resort lacked in glam, the staff do their utmost for all guests!

Rex Papillon: Amazing Resort

The resort is small with all rooms having either pool or ocean view. Rooms were clean beds were comfortable and resort just updated on 2016 so furniture and bedding all new ! The buffet is small but the chef changes the food choice every meal and the food delicious ! The staff were the best weve had in our travels yet. Rex St Lucian: Wonderful Holiday

Before going to this resort we read the many mixed reviews available on the internet but decided to give it a try anyway. We're very glad that we did, we had a wonderful week at the St. Lucian. We seldom go to all inclusives and usually stay at local hotels in the countries that we visit. The St. Lucian felt very much like this... we got to know most of the staff by their first names and found out a lot about the island and local life from them. Yes, the hotel is a bit tired in places but we always felt comfortable there and we definitely liked the idea that we were in the Caribbean... not an American style hotel plunked down on the beach. The room was basic but comfortable. Most of the other patrons were Brits over forty, many of whom were annual visitors or young families. We're retired Canadians and this suited us just fine, the evenings were quiet and we were able to really relax. The highlight of the trip was the availability of the beach. It was right at the foot of the hotel. We could leave all of our belongings in the room and go to the beach in our swimsuits, no worrying about leaving bags or wallets on the beach while we were in the water. We also love snorkelling and there's a very good reef that runs parallel to the hill just left of the resort. A five minute walk down the beach and you're good to go. We saw dozens of varieties of fish and a moderate amount of corals, both hard and soft. The reef consists mainly of large boulders that hug the shoreline and are only about ten feet underwater... perfect for snorkelling. All of the transfers to and from the airport to the hotel went smoothly and any problems that we had were attended to by the staff quickly. We would definitely return to the St. Lucian by Rex for an easy, relaxing week or two.

Celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary, Papillon by Rex, made it a very special occasion. First time to St.Lucia and second time staying at a Rex Resort (Halcyon Cove, Antigua Nov.2015) We would go back to the Papillon for sure and highly recommend this resort. Experienced great weather, 30+C daily, only one afternoon of rain when Hurricane Otto was active in Costa Rica and a few overnight showers. Restaurants, bars, entertainment, pool all within a short walk . Request ground floor if you have some mobility issues, we noticed a lot of ramps added where steps were located, but access to the beach requires some ability to do a few stairs. Rooms, restaurants, public areas and pool area are non smoking, designated smoking areas are located on the beach and garden areas. Property was updated in 2015, closed for several months, rooms updated, new beds, furniture upgraded in restaurants, beach and makeover of pool. Property looked very fresh in comparison to the sister hotels (St.Lucian & Royal). Excellent value for $. More like a 4* with large pool, swim up bar, hot tub, 2 a la carts, included water sports and 2 restaurant options for lunch every day. Food was plentiful, lots of fresh local fish/sea food, salads, local Caribbean dishes, fruits and vegetables. Soups and Action Station - daily special of chef carved/grilled meats prepared fresh while you wait. Action station also provides eggs/omelets for breakfast. A la cart restaurants require men to wear closed toe shoes, collared shirt and long pants. All breakfast/lunch restaurants require t-shirts or beach cover ups over swim suits. Having food allergies, I found I was easily able to find good whole food options to eat, vegetarian options plentiful. Staff: This is what makes this property superior. All staff members will go out of their way to insure you have the best holiday possible. Courteous and very helpful. Huge St.Lucian smiles! Thank You to all staff who made our holiday so extra special! Entertainment was limited, but mainly due to the low occupancy rate at this time. If you prefer an active holiday, you have the option to walk the beach, visit the local village of Rodney Bay, take tours, included watersports, or set something up with local vendors to parasail, jet ski, water ski, tubing, so lots to do if you want it. Staff were excited to offer pool aerobics, water volleyball, bingo and other activities if you wanted, but they will not be bugging you to join in if you are enjoying a quiet read or sleep in the sun. Water sport staff willing to take you out in Hobie Cats and instruct on use of kayaks, stand up paddle boards and snorkel equipment. Cowboy Sealy and Karaoke night were very entertaining, a must see for Monday nights. Apparently we were the longest running Karaoke night they had had yet this year, everyone had a good time Management adapted their programs to meet our needs. Lunch on our final day, was opened early at 11:45 am (usually 12:30) so we could enjoy a final meal before leaving for the airport at 12:30. Most resorts want to move guests out to avoid any further costs, but not Rex Papillon. When we had an afternoon of showers, instead of hosting a movie night, they arranged to bring in a band to liven up our day. On our final night, they arranged for Papillon guests to share the musical entertainment at the sister St.Lucian hotel and provided guests with vouchers so they could have drinks at the St.Lucian resorts bar. We give full credit to management in making our vacation feel special, good food, plenty of options, despite low occupancy. A difficult situation to plan around, staffing, meals, but one they did to perfection. We noticed the old pool & hot tub (butterfly shape in resort aerial photo, to the right of the main pool viewed from beach) which has been filled in and tiled over as the ideal spot for hosting special events. Not sure if management uses it this way. Ideal spot for private wedding reception, managers cocktail party or open air/under the stars outside dinner one night during the week. A serving station/bbq pit has already been installed. The easy access to both kitchen and Clippers bar area would make serving guests quite easy. The 3 gazebo areas that make up the Clipper Beach Restaurant would be ideal for covered serving stations.

Rex Papillon: Very relaxing resort!!!

We came back just last Friday, Nov. 25th from a 1 week vacation and also celebrating our 34th year anniversary. The papillon resort was great. The place has been renovated, very clean and have the best people who are so friendly and just eager to please everyone. From the reception to concierge, servers, chefs, bartenders, cleaning, entertainment staff, we only have high praises! If you're looking for ultimate relaxation, this is certainly the place. There's only a few varieties, but they are all tasty! We did not even go to their ala carte (Italian and oriental ) since we were more than satisfied with their delish local cuisine. The excursions were fantastic. Make sure to book with the sorfierre tours. A shout out to "prince" Charles who made it unforgettable! Try also the ziplining on such a spectacular rainforest. Overall, we were really happy and will certainly go back in a heartbeat!

To me every thing was great ,no complains ,i did enjoyed my self to the fullest, and i will come again soon. the gardener was very friendly also the bell hops they were very good, as for the restaurant the ladies who serve breakfast lunch dinner drinks water etc were very professional and polite.

The Papillon by Rex is the perfect sized resort. Never again will I be swayed by resorts with multiple restaurants, bars and services. The buffet at Papillon was different every day and very good quality. The bars offered daily drink specials and an extensive list of delicious made to order blended or shaken drinks. The rooms were maintained very well and exceptionally clean. Our bar fridge broke one day and was replaced within the hour. If you want to leave the resort there are many bars, restaurants and shopping malls within easy walking distance. The best part of the Papillon was the staff. Besides performing their jobs exceptionally well they were all genuinely happy and a pleasure to get to know.

Rex Papillon: Awesome resort

Food was just short of the best ever I had in all inclusive resorts. Selection was not big but whatever you tasted was good. No suprises. Another great thing was the cleanliness of the room. Bed was comfortable and the bedsheets alwas clean and crisp. Beach was great. Only negative was that resort did not have espresso machine so for a coffee lover was a bit disappointing. very small resort but excellent service from every staff on the premises. the beach is amazing and very clean. a la carte restaurants were very good just the buffet would need a bigger variety. its an amazing place.

Rex Papillon: Great value for the money

We travelled through Air Canada vacations. We were at the resort in October. The price for the trip was $2300 for two out of Edmonton. The resort itself is small. Hard to explain why, but we have never experienced such a friendly group of fellow travellers. We met people from the Maritimes to Alberta. The pool volleyball was so much fun with persons of all sizes, ages and gender taking part daily. The staff are all friendly, competent and hard working. The food was very good. Never left the reso [... read more]rt for a meal even though Rodney Bay has several good eating establishments within minutes walking. The water was clear, warm and the beach was great. Our room was more than adequate. The bed was very comfortable. Not recommended for young persons looking for party central. The drive from the airport is over an hour on the only two lane highway.

Before I left on my trip, I was a little nervous about staying at Rex Papillon due to mixed online reviews. When I got to the resort, I was pleasantly surprised. It's small but very clean and has recently undergone renovations. The view was stunning, the pool area was well taken care of and we were just a few steps away from the ocean. I visited its sister resorts which are located next door and was very happy that I spent less on my trip and stayed at the Papillon. In my opinion, it's a nicer resort. If you're looking to be entertained, this resort is not the place for you. There's not a lot of scheduled activities at the pool during the day and the entertainment in the evenings is hit or miss. I'd definitely book at this resort again.
