Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort: Wonderful Resort

We had a wonderful vacation at SecretsPuerto Los Cabo’s. The rooms were a little dated but very comfortable. Mini fridge was restocked daily and room service was awesome. The food at this resort was delicious and plentiful. No reservations necessary for A la carts with the exception of the Japanese restaurant if you want to sit at the grill,however if you want to just get a regular table you can order off the menu. We were there the last week of April so hotel was not at full capacity and we nev [... read more]er had to wait for a table at any restaurants. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating but watch out for time share pitches both at the hotel and the airport. We were in a swim up room in the 300 block. This is a large resort and it is built on a hill, so if you have mobility issues request accommodations closer to the main buildings. We really enjoyed the swim up as the main pool could get pretty rowdy. It was nice to retreat to a more quiet space when we wanted to. The swim up with garden view is quite far from main buildings, ocean views swim up is closer. They do offer transportation with golf cart. We often would walk down as it was downhill and then get a ride back because it is uphill. If I was younger it’s not a bad walk but I am a senior so the walk back was sometimes challenging. The beach is very dangerous and the black flag was up the whole week we were there. It is not a swim able beach even at the best of times so if you are a beach person this isn’t for you. There is a wonderful beach bar with swing chairs and lots of lounge chairs with drink service and tiki umbrellas for shade, on the bluff above the beach. We spent a couple of pleasant afternoons there. The sound of the waves crashing on the beach was very relaxing. Overall it is a beautiful resort and we enjoyed our visit there.

Secrets Tulum Resort and Beach Club: Unforgettable Experience

My now fiancé and I had the best time at secrets tulum. Not only was it the trip we got engaged on, but everything was perfect from start to finish. Employees were friendly, and service was efficient. Food was excellent. The shepherd tacos at La Taqueria were our favourite. The entertainment was special, our favourite was the Mexican show of course. We really have nothing to complain about. Our room was kept clean, and we even had a surprise in our room the day after we got engaged with chocolat [... read more]e covered strawberries and champagne. It was such a special time. The pools were refreshing, and the design of the building was just stunning. We appreciated every detail. Drinks were never ending, with bartenders even surprising us with special drinks and shots they think we would like. Before this trip we were stunned by the amount of negative reviews and chose to go with an open mind. We could not understand why anyone would have anything negative to say about this resort. It was an absolutely flawless vacation. The beach club was something we have never experienced before, and it was only a short 15-20 minute shuttle which added to the experience as we were in a safari truck. Beach was beautiful, crystal blue water and even 2 lovely pools at the beach club… what a nice touch. Water aerobics, yoga, beach volleyball and bracelet making on the beach was so much fun. Not to mention the delicious shrimp tacos at the beach restaurant. I could go on for much longer but all I have to say is if you want a perfect romantic getaway, choose secrets tulum! Thank you for everything.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Relaxing, fun and beautiful scenery!

The hotel overall was beautiful and well kept. The staff went above and beyond to help you with whatever you needed! Check in was lengthy due to our booking being under a different name (wedding name) with Trip Central. My only complaint with this resort is their dining…they do not allow reservations and some nights we would be told it’s an hour plus wait time. Aside from checking in (which wasn’t the resorts fault) and the dining wait times, it was beautiful! I likely wouldn’t return due to the [... read more] distance from the airport but for our wedding, it all worked out perfectly and they had the best price!

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Nice beach!

The 3main things that come up from this location, 1- no cafeteria smell on buffet area, thats a big wow, 2- all the food was excellent and 3- the staff always smiling and not afraid to have a chat with us.

Secrets Tides Punta Cana: The resort was amazing, loved the security that they had

Our room and the walk out pool was very beautiful. We definitely enjoyed the walk out pool in the afternoons. The restaurants where great except the Italian one Portofino that is definitely not Italian food. The experience we had there was not pleasant at all. When we received the main course it was so awful that we took two bites and left it. When the waiter came by and saw that we got up to leave he did not ask what was wrong and why we where leaving the food just said bye and left it at th [... read more]at. They were too busy with one guy that I guess was more important to them than everyone else in the restaurant. The other restaurants the staff where amazing. We did not go to the bars much we would only go to the main lobby before going to dinner. The staff there went above and beyond to make everyone feel at home. We mainly saw Alberto and he is a gem. The drinks that he made me its like he knew what I liked and after the second time he remembered my husbands drink. I understand that the staff that works there some don't understand or speak English but it does not hurt to smile at the guests when they walk by. A simple smile goes a long way. Also I noticed the day that we where leaving the guests that where coming(during the day) in got better treatment than we did when we arrived at 8:30pm. The guests should get the same treatment no matter what time you come in. Overall I had a great time.

Secrets Royal Beach: Had a great holiday

Our first time to Republic de Dominica...First of all I must say the service provider by Tammy at Trip Central was phenomenal ! We flew non stop from YYZ Air Canada...great timing on the flight and arrived to a very friendly airport staff that directed us to our Air Canada Vacation rep and sent us on our way to Secrets Royal Beach Resort .Quick trip and very welcoming arrival and check in. We were given a choice of room and we went with the Jr Garden Suite...it was perfect for us! I must say [... read more] that also on arrival we were also met (we felt slightly accosted) by a representative from UNLIMITED VACATION CLUB who gave us a welcoming gift (2 refrigerator magnets) and said we had an appointment the next day with a the group. We just got to our room and the phone rang from the same rep from UNLIMITED VACATION CLUB reminding us to bring our Passports and ID to the meeting. Again we had not settled in to our holiday and felt a little pushed. Not sure why we might need our passport and ID. We had a wonderful day but the next day on the way to the coffee shop in the morning we were again cornered by a UNLIMTED VACATION CLUB rep. We did sit down with him out of curtesy and he had quit the sales pitch. To start with again they wanted our Passport and ID...the even told us they would give us a ride back to our room to retrieve such. After hearing the sales pitch and letting them know the $50,000 was out of our interest and we were trying to relax on our holiday they brought in another "closer rep" and when we turned him down he just promptly walked away without even a thankyou. We could just assume they wanted our passport and ID to tie us up legally in some way. This was the only unpleasant part of our stay. I would suggest researching UNLIMITED VACATION CLUB with Better Business Bureau for another opinion. Secrets Royal Beach Resort was overall great holiday for us. We ate at every restaurant and tried every bar and pool ...all fabulous staff and service. Plenty of bottled drinking water around every corner of the resort. HAD A GREAT TRIP....

Secrets Huatulco: Great value for money

Beautiful and quiet area of Mexico. Better than average food for an all-inclusive, excellent service, beautiful views, beach and pool areas were great. Not an elevated luxurious experience but a hidden gem nonetheless. Would definitely come back.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: Beautiful Resort

The resort was well kept and had a welcoming atmosphere and kept clean. All staff were professional, hardworking and friendly. Hotel rooms were cleaned and well supplied with towels etc. Beach was kept clean all day long. Service was very good.

Secrets St James: Disappointing Experience

This is our 3rd time in Jamaica but our first time at Secrets St. James Montego Bay, which contrasted sharply with the warm hospitality we’ve consistently enjoyed at other Jamaican resorts. Unfortunately, our group of eight felt unwelcome and encountered several issues that marred our vacation. Upon arrival, the initial information session quickly turned into a high-pressure sales pitch for expensive add-ons, such as $300+ romantic ocean-view dinners and costly massage packages. Despite my b [... read more]rother-in-law’s advice to avoid signing up immediately, we felt the pressure and enrolled in some offerings, only to face a cumbersome cancellation process later. This aggressive upselling set a negative tone from the start. One significant issue involved a catamaran excursion scheduled for Wednesday. With forecasts predicting heavy rain, thunder, and lightning, we attempted to cancel at the front desk. We were informed of a 24-hour cancellation policy we hadn’t been told about and warned that we’d be charged if we didn’t attend. On the day of the excursion, the catamaran was significantly delayed, and after repeated requests to cancel due to unsafe weather, the staff finally confirmed the trip’s cancellation. However, we were required to visit the desk again to sign paperwork, making the process unnecessarily protracted. Interactions with staff further soured our experience. When my brother-in-law and I inquired about accessing the Preferred Rooftop Bar at the Breathless Resort —based on another guest’s claim that it was possible—the front desk attendant responded rudely, asking, “Who told ya that?” More troubling, the attendant insulted sharply by calling him “the troublemaking Canadian,” possibly in retaliation for the catamaran cancellation. This unprofessional behavior was deeply offensive and unacceptable. The dining options also fell short of expectations. The Mexican restaurant was notably unpopular among guests, and the buffet, while adequate, was unavailable for dinner. The remaining choices—Italian, French, and Hibachi—were limited, and an unpleasant experience after dining at the Hibachi deterred us from returning. By the third day, our group felt distinctly unwelcome, a stark contrast to the inviting atmosphere we’ve cherished at other Jamaican resorts. The combination of high-pressure sales, poor communication, rude treatment, and subpar dining left us disappointed. Regrettably, our group, unfairly labeled as “troublemaking Canadians,” will not return to Secrets St. James Montego Bay.

Secrets St James: Disappointed

I’ve never been to any resort that pressured u to spend more money, from the time u arrive , u are pushed with excursions or upsells . Rented cabanas were so plentiful that u had not enough loungers near the pool , best seats at entertainment were available if u bought a premium bottle of wine only. There was no lobby bar to sit with your group , or anywhere else for that matter . Staff was as rude and unfriendly as I’ve ever encountered anywhere and I’ve been to many countries. We attempted to cancel our catamaran because of bad weather and I was called a trouble maker be concierge after that , I’m just so disappointed in our experience at secrets , I’ve never put a bad review for any resort before , but our whole group feels the same . Pools were not clean as well

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Beautiful resort!

The resort was perfect. Food, drinks, beach and pools could not have been better. Room service was included and very prompt and fresh. Resort was clean and very well maintained. The only issue is the pool chairs..you definitely need to get there early to get a good spot. Highly recommend going to Secrets the vine Cancun.

Secrets Tides Punta Cana: Amazing time at a fantastic resort

Simply put, the resort is beautiful. It is well laid out, just over a year old with nice modern touches, fantastic pools and a great beach. There are plenty of bars throughout the resort to keep you hydrated and lots of places to keep your belly filled! And the staff are all super attentive and polite. We're hoping to go back next year!

Secrets Royal Beach: This hidden gem is a 10/10!

We had a great stay at this resort. Amazing food at the buffet and a la carte restaurants. Staff are wonderful! We will definitely go back! The beach is beautiful and the service is awesome. The rooms were great and the resort was clean and very well kept. The entertainment was top notch and worth seeing every night. I can’t wait to visit this resort again.

Secrets Tides Punta Cana: Beautiful Resort!

This resort is top notch! The place is beautiful! Beach is so nice, and ocean was great for swimming! Pools were great and you Never had to worry about lounge chairs as there is never any issue getting chairs. No having to worry about saving a chair early in the day. Drinks are made to order and are very good! Food was excellent and best buffet I have ever experienced. Great that the only one restaurant (Japanese) required reservations. All the rest first come first serve and we only ever [... read more] had to wait maybe 20 minutes. Service was very good, and all the staff were pleasant. Only issue was during our stay there was a large corporate conference that at times took up portions of the resort without prior notice. We were not permitted access to these areas during these times (ie. certain restaurants, bars and pool, beach areas). Overall, I would recommend and return to this resort.

Secrets Huatulco: Lacks Consistency!

Our room was clean and housekeeping was good. Turndown service was missed numerous times and even when we spoke to the concierge they stated it was because the red light was on; the light was not on! As preferred club guests, we went for breakfast at castaways on our first morning, it was terrible. My husband was served raw eggs, so we stuck with marketplace for breakfast the rest of the week. In speaking with other guests that were not preferred club, they received better service than we [... read more] did! For example, consistent turndown service handful of pillow mints and flower petals on bed. Preferred club bar was supposed to have top shelf alcohol, but in reality you could get it at almost every bar. Therefore, I do not know exactly what the additional cost was for! Overall our stay was okay. Our week was made brighter after we met Isai (bar tender at preferred club and sky bar). He remembered us by name, greeted us each time he saw us even if it was passing in a hallway. Also want to acknowledge Daniel, Josue, and Mario servers (in Marketplace) and Astrid (hostess in Marketplace), they were all warm and welcoming; Daniel especially. Other exceptional staff were Mardonio bar tender (Rendezvous bar) and Ismael bar tender (sky bar). Food at Ocean and the Teppanyaki experience was superb! The fire show and International show were fabulous!

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Relaxing resort

Love the no reservation needed for the restaurants. Love the no wrist band policy. Excellent food and drinks. Awesome customer service by the wait staff. Would definitely return to this resort. Friendly servers that remember your likes without prompting Loved watching the sunsets on the Sky Bar. Very quiet and relaxing resort.

Secrets St. Martin: Beautiful beach

The beach was beautiful however there were not enough umbrellas on the beach people were up early to reserve chairs and umbrellas and sometimes were left there empty for hours. The hotel needs some renovation hallway floors were stained. The room was clean. The food was ok. The buffet was limited not much variety. No drink service on the beach or by the pool like other secrets properties. Overall it is a beautiful location they just need to improve on service and food. Secrets Moxche Playa del Carmen: Do not sleep on Secrets Moxche!

This resort was the best my husband and I have been to, and first time in Mexico! Every single staff were helpful, friendly and approachable. 7 pools, 9 restaurants, endless margs! Here are some specific notes... Beach: There is one yes, its not to wide but plenty of seating. Seaweed did accumulate but they cleaned up every morning. Honestly, we did not go to the beach except to see the ocean the day we got there and the day we left. Pools: As I mentioned, 7 pools! We did prefer the Sug [... read more]ar reef pool, as it was next to the busy activity pool so you heard the music but there was less activity. Good to relax, or bob around with a drink :) There are 3 cenotes, we did not take a dip in however, very cool and would try if we make it back! The lagoon pool (real sand at this pool) was crazy, and I loved it! With the sand at a pool, this is why we didn't feel the need to visit the beach. They made one for you! All pool concierge and bartenders were amazing. Shout out to Angel at the sugar reef pool! They all work SO SO hard! I will note, like all all inclusive resorts, reserving chairs is still a thing here. The pool rules note you cannot reserve with personal belongings but everyone does, and unless there is a body in the chair - its kind of fair game. I hate the game but you do what you gotta. Food: I cannot say enough! I was concerned with no dinner buffet but every meal I had was great, My husband chose a few that were lack luster but I am sure if we spoke up he could order something else without question. The quality is higher than I have had here in Halifax! Transportation: We opted to use a 3rd party transport as the resort is 45-60 mins away and we are glad we did - it was well worth the added cost. Resort theme nights: We arrived Tuesday evening, this is "Roads through Mexico" night. We did not realize how large it would be and ate prior but take my advice - do not eat before attending. So many amazing vendors and food setups we were too full to enjoy. Friday they hosted "Asado" a beach bbq at Sea Soul restaurant. This, unfortunately, was the largest disappointment of the trip. We arrived at 7:15, about 20 people ahead of us and we were told the restaurant was full. Additionally, we were told we could wait inside but not shown where, or if someone would some get us if a table was available and to make that worse - we could not take the food to eat elsewhere. This was a busy night as an hour after this dinner started, there is a fire show in front of the restaurant (amazing). I do not blame the staff for how this is executed but the management needs to alter this set up. As I mentioned we were early and I cant imagine over 100 people behind us not even getting any dinner here that night. To add - the BBQ was the least interesting meal. The entertainment that night thought were phenomenal! Accommodations: We were in the preferred king swim out tropical view - I will make it my goal to always have a private swim out pool now, haha. This swim OUT not swim UP was key - we could cool off after the main pool (it was chillier but needed in 30+C temps). The bed and pillows were a bit too firm for my liking but the pool chairs at sugar reef (thick padding) made up for it :) I will note the bathroom could stand to change a few things. The bathroom door was VERY heavy and glass. Semi worried it would smash without slowly letting it shut on itself. We had to do this ad the handle was a very small knob without a grip. I would suggest in the nest upgrades they swap to handles like the shower where its rounded metal. Only other odd thing was, I believe the toilet paper was scented? It was very very strong and I thought the room had a fragrance pumping in but thats how strong it was I finally realized too late but this is obviously not great for womens bodies. We had to get room service several times and every time superb! Late night shows + speakeasy: The shows were outstanding! There was always singing and a type of acrobatics. My favourite was the quirky show :) The speakeasy in the pharmacy was so so so cool! After the show, you head to the speakeasy tucked behind the pharmacy ;) Such a fun night of singing and dancing! We truly cannot wait to return - we may possibly try another Secrets resort but this one will be very hard to beat!

Secrets Moxche Playa del Carmen: Secrets Moxche Playa del Carmen

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are extremely professional, friendly, and fun. From every perspective other than the food, I had a wonderful time. However, I'm not sure I would return to this resort. I have celiac disease. While the resort 'claims' to be allergy friendly, I did not have a great food experience. I tried to engage staff to ask questions, and for the most part it was embarrassing for me to constantly be the 'problem child' of our family. They didn't make it easy to get goo [... read more]d food. An allergy friendly resort is one that says: I've got you and I'm going to help you so that you don't have to make a fuss, and so you don't have to wander around trying to find someone to help you. That did not happen here. I have pictures of everything including the menus to back up this review. 1) Except for the dessert and bread station, the buffet is not clearly marked as to what is and what is not gluten free. It was very difficult to find help on the floor. 2) The daytime beach food venue did not have clearly safe gf options. There were pretzels and breadsticks spread all over the cheese and meat trays, and the soup had noodles. At the other all I could have was 'fish of the day' which is a giant, tasteless fish with a face -no sauces, no veggies, nothing. It was not good. 3) For the restaurants, their menu typically only one appetizer (usually a tartare or ceviche - and who wants to eat raw meat while travelling?), one main course, and one dessert item that was labelled as gf. When I asked the waiters if there were other options that I could have, they at first said no and redirected me to the menu, which was sparse. Menu items that should been easy to make gf weren't offered: e.g., Most of the meat dishes and salads (e.g., grilled lettuce) at Ember are not labelled as gf, Caprese Salad at Allora is not gf and there is only one gf pasta and sauce option, most of the sushi was not gf at the Japanese restaurant (even the veggie rolls were not gf), and most of the Thai Food was not gf at Bamboo (even though most Thai food is usually gf elsewhere). Almost all of these things can easily be made gf - you just need a clean pan, a gf soya sauce, and oil & vinegar to offer as a salad dressing alternative. 4) When I finally got fed up with the limited options (because I have never had such a hard time getting food at an expensive resort and we chose this resort bc of their allergy friendly claims), an allergist showed up. Her first approach was to try to convince me to chose the 1 appie, 1 main dish, and 1 dessert option at each restaurant. When I told her that wasn't good enough because I wanted an option that didn't involve a raw tartare appie, she finally said she would talk to the kitchen about which meats and salads could be made safely. Things seemed to get easier after that, but I shouldn't have had to get upset to get help and get good food. It's an expensive resort and it's really not hard to provide gf options. After making a fuss, at Ember, they agreed they could provide me with a chicken dinner and some vegetables. To their credit, when I finally got food, I didn't get sick and it was good food. It's just not a pleasant experience to have to advocate for yourself so hard to make it happen. It was embarrassing for me and my family. It's just not the way I want to spend my vacation. Note: I've been to three other resorts in Mexico that were wonderful and took care of me.
