Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Small but great resort.

We stayed in building #2. January 2025 Firstly, staff is great. The resort is clean, but the rooms could use a refresh. Very noisy, and the doors don't shut softly. The key gave us and the group we travelled with some issues. There is no bar in the hotel. No entertainment inside until 10pm. Given by the entertainment staff from the resort. The buffet is small. But plentiful. Ala carte restaurants are good and the food is ok. We really like the Mexican restaurant. There is a  [... read more]coffee bar we really enjoyed. The snack bar at the beach can be better. One day we did have a BBQ set up at the beach. We do not drink very much but we did use the bar to get water. You need to ask the bartender. I would prefer if they had a station for water or juice. Also, there is no one at the beach taking orders for the bar. The beach is large and you can walk forever.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Decent resort but definitely not a 4 star

This a decent resort, food is okay, à la carts are much better than the buffet. The beach is beautiful, we had a few days with red flags, and a few with yellow flags. Be prepared when you go to the beach, it is a public beach. We always found seating around the pool or at the beach. We didn’t like the upselling at the resort from the staff, we came to have family time, but continued to try and sell you their membership, photos, diving activities ect. This would happen on a daily bases. When  [... read more]we booked this resort, we booked Queen beds but only doubles. The pool could be cleaner. Often there would be random things floating (lettuce, tooth pick, ect) The lifeguard really liked to blow his whistle when children were jumping into the pool. Stopping them from having fun. This was not on the set of rules, it was like he made his own set of rules up. The pool would also would be nicer with easier access to get into the pool if you don’t want people jumping in. As well, they didn’t play music during the day. Unless there was entertainment going on, it was just other peoples little speakers. When you have music, it completely changes the vibes. We had it one day during the foam party, and it brought out a lot of fun for people! This hotel also only has one bar, so be prepared that you could be waiting a minute to 25 minutes for a drink. The staff tend to talk more to each other than work. There isn’t a lounge bar, there isn’t enough seating if it’s raining, and no where to go. There was never enough towels, the towel guy would only give out to women half the time, not enough supplies in general ( we had to tell someone to leave our daughters silverware as they wanted to clear it despite everyone still eating and plate still full). Public bathrooms are very few and far between. Makes you wonder how many people pee in the pool. There were days that we didn’t have a maid clean our room but she would take the towels. Hydro went out daily, if you were not up early enough or late enough you didn’t have any hot water.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Avoid!

We were put in what I describe as a dorm room the first night. If they try to out you in 3100, refuse. Beach is good, food is nothing special.Way too many kids running around. For the price, expected more in ambiance, not much to do there. I wouldn’t go back.

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: Not even a 2.5 star resort

Located about an hour from the airport, fairly large resort. Grounds are nice, maintained well. Our room was okay, clean, power would flash the room lights at all times for about a week, difficult sleeping, reported to customer service 5+ times, not fixed. Buffet food was mostly cold, concerned about food safety. Hard to get items for non-gluten diet. Good, warm food in the a la carts. Very long nice beach. Surprised by the lack of a beach BBQ or beach bar. Staff wasn't overly friendly.

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: I would not recommend this resort

This resort is crowded the food is all served cold .Lights in my room went off and on all night for days .Terrible smell in bathroom. Long line ups at pool side bar as there is no bar at beach so they come to the pool bar. Most employees very rude the only service is the bar ,room and alacartes that where pleasant .There was 14 of us on this trip and half of us had stomach issues It was rated as a 4.1 when we booked it's more like a 2.3 at most

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Beautiful compact resort

Beautiful well maintained grounds, very very clean resort, staff are constantly cleaning and upkeeping all areas of the resort, food was very good with plenty of proteins and fresh fruit. Enjoyed the Cafe with coffees and delicious deserts. Snack bar had great lunch menu. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Liked how close beach was to pool area.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Nice hotel

The facility was nice and the staff were great!! The food was “ok” although I did get food poisoning during my visit. That being said, there was about 30% of the guests that week that got sick from the food. The resort did nothing to help with the issue. The pool is nice, cold but nice. The beach directly in front of the resort was beautiful, but to both sides, it was filthy!! Trash everywhere!! And hordes of people who were peddling there souvenirs, and they were quite pushy.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: It was just ok

The hotel staff, the grounds, the pool, were all nice. The hotel itself is starting to show age. Room was large and in decent shape. Beds are hard. The Wi-fi is horrible!!!! Doesn’t work most of the time. The food was not good. One person in our group got food poisoning, and we heard from several other people who were also at the resort, that they had gotten food poisoning as well. All I can say is that the weather was good, we met some nice people at the resort, and we made the best of it all.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Very Nice

We just recently came back from a two week trip to Samana at the Viva V. We picked it because we were interested in checking out the town of Las Terrenas and it was the closest hotel. Unfortunately when we got there we realized that despite it only being a short 3-4km distance, to get there is a big up and down hill trip. That's okay. We took a cab to check it out. The bay by the beach is amazing. It's so big! You can walk and walk and walk for hours and barely see anyone. There are some people surfing, but it's really quiet. The only downside is that when we were there it was a bit rough if you wanted to swim. But if you walked about 20 minutes to the left there was a really nice calm area for swimming. The food was also really good. We loved the buffet. The a al carte restos were okay. I preferred the atmosphere and food in the buffet. There was always something tasty. We were there over New Years and the spread was incredible! They had hundreds of fresh shucked oysters and bubbly at midnight. The party was so much fun. There was a show/entertainment every night. The animation staff are adorable and you can see that they are working hard to entertain the crowds. Really, overall, we had a great holiday. The only small thing that is that you can't flush the toilet paper. That's not uncommon in the Caribbean but a lot of the guests weren't following the rules so the public toilets were often plugged. That was nasty. The staff were quick to fix, but it was a mess anyway. I don't know how you would fix that. It's too bad that people don't follow the rules. Thanks for a great stay! We look forward to visiting again!

Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: Second time back - great place

We liked this resort so much that we decided to visit again for New Year's week of Dec 26 to Jan 2. The plane landed in La Romana airport which is a small seasonal airport that operates few months in the winter season. It was very speedy passport control as Air Transat was the only plane there at the time. From airport to hotel it only took 20 min. Food was very good - lots of vegetarian choices, fish and amazing desserts. We tried 4 a la carte restaurants and enjoyed the atmosphere Also, beach is amazing with calm waters. Unlike Punta Canada, La Romana ocean is very calm and not too windy. The only negative aspect are front desk staff they are a bit rude but they get everything done. Overall, this is a good chain and we plan to visit their Freeport Bahamas location soon.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Meh..

I have been to 10+ resorts in the caribbean, I would rate this hotel a 2.5. Pros: -clean -Great Christmas buffet -clean rooms daily -night entertainment was provided on some nights -good games during the day at the beach -no sellers at the beach like there are in Punta Cana -AMAZING animation team members!! So fun and sweet! Cons: -found a live cockroach in my sleeping mask -humidity in room TV would not work, nothing to do on rainy days -no vegetarian food available in room ser [... read more]vice (not even any accomodation) -nothing to walk to outside the resort -low level customer service -music was so repetitive -scammed into the VIP tour, do not waste 2 hours of your time. They want $14,900 US for you to invest in a package of 50,000 points. Get away! The spa certificate and the tshirt is not worth it. -Bees all over the beach bar. Gross and they don't do anything about it. -the beach walk-in bar has miserable staff and it's so depressing-looking -the theatre is not used so why not do something with it? -some staff are so friendly -Great cigar guy named JJ! -Was not ready for a half-naked show where they obligate these young girls to dress in tiny underwear-like skirts in front of a mature crowd. -Disco suxks..only a handful people at any one night, including the animation staff -nothing else to do after 1am.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Beautiful resort

Lovely resort, very reasonable price. The location is perfect in Playacar. The beach is stunning, the rooms are charming, the food is pretty good. Plenty of activities with daily events and nightly performances.

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Nice place

Washrooms and bar far from the beach swimming pool a bit small everything else pretty good close to the main shopping district nice nightly entertainment and daily activities are for all ages good place for a family with kids

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Fabulous stay

We stayed with family for a week and totally enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was amazing. We had no complaints. There was so much variety. We all absolutely loved the Fusion a la carte and would have eaten there every night if we could have. Only thing my husband was not a fan of was plastic glasses from the bar in the evening and some inconsistent drink mixes. The beach was stunning and you could always find chairs and loungers. Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Very Chill Boutique Resort

Smaller boutique resort. Food was excellent, rooms were great, and the entertainment team was very good. Very pretty grounds and beach but the waves can get quite big. Loungers are easy to get even mid day. All of the staff were great.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Ok place

Very small resort. Food was good. A few cons. No coffee until 7 30 am. Room supplies coffee makers but maybe get 2 small cups. If you are an early riser than no coffee available till buffet opens and no cappuccino until pool bar decides to start. Cafe does not open until 9 which makes no sense. No alcohol until 10am. I had a room in building 6 and the first 2 days bathroom floor was always wet. Could not find leak turns out floor was sweating because of a/c. Went away don't know why. Bar staff [... read more] at times did not look interested to serve especially in the morning. Pros are the food and a la carte. Pool was adequate. Grounds are clean. Beach seems ok. I would not go back. Seems slow pace and too small for me.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: You get what you pay for!

We went to Viva Tangerine by Wyndham because inexpensive but we now wish we would choose different hotel. For starters the entire hotel had problems with hot water. Out of 7 days we had 2 days when we could take comfortable shower. The only bar in this resort was always very crowded and noisy ( especially when there was rain and all guests had to stay in this small hall) The food was ok but the drinks were very low quality. The wine was not drinkable! There was also water or something oily comin [... read more]g from the ceiling on our bed despite of the fact that our room was on a ground floor! On the positive, the beach is big and the entrance to the ocean very shallow and no rocks. Also there were a lot of beds around the pool and beach so no need for reservations. The staff was trying hard to please guests but the hotel should not operate if it's lacking basic facilities. Overall we would never go back to this resort and we were happy that we were leaving after one week.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: So so

The staff were great but this resort is not for people who have mobility issue . At first we were given a room on ground floor patio door did not lock I had to threaten them to sleep in the lobby before they give me a different room. This resort has some kind of vacation plan so if you are not part of the plan you can have only certain drinks just the cheap stuff. To go to the beach you have to walk a good distance only one pool food is ok to many kids running around

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: It is a budget all-inclusive resort

If you have a tight budget but still want to go to an all-inclusive resort, this can be your choice. Staffs are friendly and will do their best to help you. Resort is small but clean. Pool can be crowded. Beach is nice but with high waves, not a place to swim ( we stayed 7 days and 5 days are red flag. Staff will ask you not to ocean at all). Food is OK. Not lots of choices though and it seems same menu almost everyday. We did walk to a nearby sea food restaurant to have dinner three times.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Superby Service

This is my first time visiting the Caribbean. I have never visited an "all inclusive resort" before and I was impressed with the calibre of service they offered. Being a strict Vegetarian, I thought i would face obstacles but rather the chef/staff were more than accommodating to meet the needs of my family of 3. There were new varieties of food every day —fresh fruits galore!! Room service: Daily a cleaning staff would bring fresh towels and make up our bed and place 2 bottles of water in the bar fridge. I had booked the "Amnesia junior suite" with 2 double beds, with a sofa. The suite is very comfortable and you dont feel cramped in . The wash room is nice. Showerstall was perfect for those hot days to cool off. Bars: beach side and pool side No words to describe how friendly and hospitable they are to tourist. They will make any drink you like. Day or not night.. No end of liquors, as if it were flowing like water!! Cafe shop: At this resort, there is a coffee shop. Many North American tourists enjoy their dose of caffeine in the morning. The cafe would make any speciality coffees that you may fancy. Daily I would come over and get my Cappacinino and my Crossisant. Very popular spot during the day. I would like to recommend if they can extend the hrs from until 9pm rather than 5pm. In the evening,there are some of us,who enjoy a nice Night cap in the evenings. Amazing fresh pastries made daily! Beach: The team called "Viva Vibe" are staff they help with any water sports one would like to entertain while at the beach. Almost daily we would ask the staff to come an accompany us (family ) each in separate kayaks and help us navigate through the chopping waves of the Alantic Ocean. VIVA ViBE are responsible for entertainment at the resort. They perform the live shows, the night dancing and the Disco. The staff are highly skilled and very helpful. I love their "service attitude".Always smiling and will to help a helping hand if one facing any problems rendering the services at the resort. Excellent service ( 5 stars). La carte Dining: We had the pleasure of attending only 2.The rest were fully booked.The chef would prepare speciality dish for us, because we were Vegetarian. One night were had Italian.Best Italian food I have ever tasted!! Only issue is that spots fill out very quickly first thing in the morning. Can the management open up another restaurant on the premises to have 2 la carte dining at the same time with 2 separates cusines?? Everyone would like that intimate fine dining experience with "wine ,dine and candle light setting" but those slots fill up quickly!!
