Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Excellent Service and Wonderful People

The grounds were enormous and nicely landscaped.The buildings are old however kept clean.The service was amazing, everyone was so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The food at the buffet was" just ok" however the Ala Carte Restaurants were very good. I will certainley go back again.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Really good hotel.

There is room for improvement the villas and motel are great need of an update, the main buffet dinning can be improved greatly, the grounds were very unkept but they were working on it when I was leaving. The games were very old and worn out, the gym was good. I recommend the al a cart restaurants. The smaller buffet I found were much nicer. Need for more games on the beach area. There were several barbecue pits but none were used in the nine days I was there. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful resort 💛❤💚💙🧡💜

We stayed at the Club Amigo for the first week of February 2020 as a Couple We booked in a Villa to be closer to the beach and a King size bed. It is a huge and amazing resort that is perfectly located. The beach has many different places surrounded by beautiful coral. There are many bars located all over the resort and the staff is very friendly. Bed was very comfortable but the pillows are very thin so bring a spare pillow or ask the maid and she will provide extra pillows the following day. [... read more] Rooms are very clean and Ac works perfectly. Always hot water to shower even during spring break when the resort was completely full. We loved the 24 hour drinks and snack bar with délicious little hamburgers and grilled ham and cheeze sandwiches. The main buffet doesn't have a huge selection but it tastes pretty good compared to many resorts I've been to in Cuba. I didn't use the safe in the room but kept my passports locked in my suitcase and all was safe. I never go to the same resort twice but planning to come back to Club Amigo before the end of the year. Club Amigo Mayanabo: Issues

I have not been to Santa Lucia for several years. Upon return now some things have changed. Namely issues around food and building maintenance. Only oranges and sometimes bananas available. On some days no cheese or ham for omelettes. In the room, no hot water for 4 days and telephone was inoperative during our stay. Rooms need to be updated and repaired, especially bathrooms. The bus ride from Holguin was very long ( 3.5 hrs.) and bumpy. Travel from Camaguey airport was not available.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Club Amigo---- Sunny shangrila!

For a quick one week away in the sun this venture was well worth it. The facilities including the numerous pools and restaurants were well maintained and the staff very curtious. The a la carte restaurants were of course a better bet for your dinners out but having been to Cuba before and in recognition of some limitations they face on access to supplies we were not disappointed. Club Amigo Mayanabo: Huge Disappointment!!!

Club Amigo Mayanabo in Santa Lucia is terribly over rated!!! The grounds and overall setting as well as a friendly staff are the only positives! During our 10 day stay, 90 percent of the other people in the Hotel were Russians! Many of them drank to excess and on several occasions security had to be called because of uncontrolled behaviour! We spent our first night in a tiny room which had inadequate space for 2 people but were moved to a bigger room the next day! In this room, the phone didn' [... read more]t work and NO effort was made to repair it during our entire stay! The shower door couldn't be shut and we were only getting "drips" of hot water! We managed to get that improved but then there was NO hot water for the next three and a half days! We had to shower with cold water! The food was plentiful but "very repetitive" and the only fruit that was available for 8 days were oranges! They did have a few bananas and some pineapple during our first 2 days! Papaya which wasn't very sweet was available the last 2 days! The chefs at the hot plate area didn't wear gloves and handled uncooked food with their bare hands! On 2 occasions, we saw one of chefs picking his nose without a tissue and then continued cooking without washing his hands! This was "disgusting"!!!! The 24 hour snack bar only served ham and cheese sandwiches throughout most of the evening and didn't have any potatoes during most of our stay! This resort should only be rated as a 3 star "at the very most"! I can't believe that it was rated as a four star by trip adivisor!!! I definitely WOULDN'T go back!!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great place to stay

Hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly. We have been here three times now and would go back. Food is very basic but we were never hungry. Beautiful beach and clear blue ocean for swimming. Lots of places to walk to and explore.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: White sands and blue waters

Rinke and i had the pleasure of spending a month at this really beautiful resort. The gardens were kept in pristine condition as the gardeners did their best with the few tools they had. For the lack of gasoline, the lawn grass was about 2 feet long. The resort was always full, mostly Russians who were loud and had no respect to staff or other guests. Our room at the Villas were really nice and comfortable. Although we enjoyed the beach, it's a struggle getting a hotel beach chair as the locals take over the beach and all the chairs, no control. The locals who are not guests use the toilets, the snack bars, bars, as there's little control. Security is everywhere and does nothing. Whoever manages the resort lack discipline and management skills. The Ala carte resturant serve delicious meals, we were allowed 3 per week. Our visit at the dentist was another experience. For 50 CUC we were supposed to get our teeth cleaned. I spent 10 minutes in his chair while he took 2 phone calls and left the room twice. He spent 3 minutes on my mouth, my teeth was the same when i left as when i first went in. I asked, are you done? He said "yes" i asked when he planned to clean my teeth, he said i was done. To future guests, please save your money. Or, demand he clean your teeth. I'll never return to him again. Over all, we will never spend a month at this resort again. 2 weeks will be enough. The airport is a whole other issue and no time to describe that piece of horror. Enjoy your stay. Juliey

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great for the price

We had a great vacation at club amigo Atlantico ,15th time there . It is an older resort which needs upgrading. The food is Cuban and plentiful not fancy .Staff can not do enough for you ,if you treat them right. Grounds and area are beautiful . Lots of things to do in the area .

Hotel Caracol: Very relaxing vacation

Hotel “Amigo Caracol” at Santa Lucía beach, Cuba is newly renovated. The rooms are spacious with an entrance including a sofa, chair and a little fridge. The rooms are with balcony. The buffet restaurant is spacious as well, but it is very noisy(because the ceiling is low). Some times, there are flies around the food. The beach is well maintained.Staff is professional and friendly. We had a wonderful time. Weather was great beach was great the people were great beer was cold rooms were dated food sucked but we didn’t starve pretty much as we expected but the beach and the people were worth it go on a buggy ride and see where the people really live they appreciate anything for the money you can’t beat this place just don’t expect too much

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Returning guest again and again

Club Amigo is a large resort with an amazing beach and good people. The hotel is older resort, with constant improvements. Villas are decent but hotel rooms are hit and miss. Main hotel is very noisy and it is almost impossible to sleep in or take a afternoon nap, cleaning staff are super noisy in the hallways during the day. It is clean and the staff work hard to keep things running as smoothly as possible. Service can be quite slow at times and patience is required. Today you might have pasta and none tomorrow, one day ice-cream and none the next it all depends on what is transported that day. There is a great pizza place next door and very reasonable. Try Bennies Restaurant or the 24 hour bar (both located on the resort) for decent sit down breakfast as buffet can be congested at times. If you enjoy learning about culture and meeting Cubans this is a great resort. Lots of dancing next door at the boulevard and weekly parties there as well. Many returning guests that feel like Club Amigo is their second home. Club amigo is not a fancy resort, go with a open mind, take a horse and carriage ride, mingle and enjoy the beach and learn a little about the Cuban life. If you are a picky eater this is probably not the place for you. I recommend taking a cheap pillow as the pillows are quite thin. I love this resort despite some of the things I have mentioned, the beach is great, the boulevard parties are fun to attend and I always find something eat. Enjoy

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Always a great vacation

Jan 13th we were off again to club amigo guardalavaca for 21 days. We always book through trip central with karol always finding the best deals. This was our 12th time at this resort we were not as pleased with the resort as other times the food was same lunch and dinner almost all 21 days there we were glad there was some restaurants off the resort with awesome food. We also had no hot water for the first 9 days of our stay this was a first for us we got hot water when moved to the bungalow  [... read more]section. The staff as always was top notch and very helpful. We will continue to visit this resort.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Wonderful relaxing vacation

First I would like to say that don't believe all of which you hear form negative people, We first arrived and heard this was bad and that was bad , but within hours of us being there all of our expected disappointments disappeared . The staff was so very friendly , food was nothing but fantastic ( I brought a few bottles of condiments but only needed ketchup for my omelets, my preference) .Kitchen staff and greeters made you feel like you were walking into their home and I can not say enough ab [... read more]out the bartenders at the pool bar , they kept us laughing all day. The resort was close enough to experience the Cuban culture both the people the near by villages and an abundance of very affordable restaurants in the area, just a close ride by horse and buggy. Hotel Caracol: Caracol Santa Lucia

This was my fourth time in Caracol.The rooms are very nice, everything is very clean...including mattresses, curtains, furniture in the sitting room, the bathroom are spacious and very clean. Personal is dedicated to their work. The food is plentiful.,,In the restaurant you have so much meals to combine. The entertainment staff works practically the whole day, and specially in the evening.Very talented young people. Great service at bars. Beach is good and clean. Great vacation.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great value for the price

When we first arrived and pulled up to the hotel with the bus we thought oh no, what have gotten ourselves into. First impression was a little disappointing. The hotel is older and dated. However once you get past that, we found it to be a great place for a vacation. We found the food pretty good not excellent. Certainly did not starve!! Rooms and all washrooms were very clean. Beach is amazing. 3 pools, 2 with bars and music and one large Olympic sized pool that was quiet and amazing to do some laps or throw a ball. Would love to spend time with family and grandchildren there. Doesn't seem many people knew about it so you practically had the pool to yourself. Overall for the price I think it's a great place and the staff were very friendly.

A little run down but clean. Staff was great. would have been nice to have orientation on tipping. Guest from Russia were rude. Excellent beach. entertainment was ok. pools Ok. ////////////////////////////////////////////////

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: A lot for a little!

The resort features a beautiful beach, friendly staff and very down to earth place. It's a 3 star in Cuba so keep that in mind, but I really enjoyed myself. The newly renovated cafe was really good.

Hotel Caracol: Good value, 3 1/2 to 4 hour transfer time from Holguin airport to hotel

Have been to the Caracol a couple of times and Playa St. Lucia many times. The Caracol is a nice hotel, good food, friendly staff. It was pretty quiet with an older crowd in comparison to the Mayanabo the same week which was quite rowdy. That beind said it was the worst bus transfer between airport and hotel. 3 1/2 hrs to hotel and almost 4 hrs back to airport on a road that had long sections of almost impassible pots holes (travelling at 5 kph for a good portion). Will not return via Holguin  [... read more] (was advertised as into Camaguay but re-routed to Holguin) as the additional time and discomfort was not worth it.

Carisol los Corales: Still a favorite

This was my third stay at carousel Corrales resort I was there two years ago in a Junior suite and requested the same great room everything works although water pressure could be a bit low at times! Weather was wonderful very windy which I liked :) snorkeling was good beach clean! some food seem to be in short supply the first week such as cheese and fruitBut it improved !the tienda was out of beer Juice vodka liquers water which was something new I didn’t use the pool but it looked clean À [... read more] la cart restaurant wonderful for fish as was the Palapas style lunch hut And both restaurants have great outdoor eating area’s with evening music groups coming into play during dinnerBike rental available but bikes in bad shape free Saturday bus to Santiago wonderful nearby villages to visit Plenty of dogs around plus mules and horses grazing on the lawn at carrisol Plenty of manure too :-)Lots of Canadians seniors Cubans on the weekend and some families With preschool or school-age kids
