Nice resort

I loved the beach and great if you like to go for walks. Overall was good The staff was very nice and hard workers I liked the water show and the bubbles pool part was fun there is a casino close by lots of shopping at the mall and on the beach and if you said not interested the workers would just keep going not pussy great tours to go on wifi in the lobby

Looked fresh and clean pictures but....

Rooms looked great in pictures but old and needed more up keep structurally. House keeping were doing a great job working with what they had. The grounds were okay and public areas. Meals were great and flavourable at the buffet. All staff were accommodating. Beach area needs cleaning up with all the smokers that were on the beach. The evening entertainment was pretty sad, could get rid of the show and just have dancing in the evening

You get what you pay for

I do not generally write reviews, and relise everyone has their on opion but I feel people need to be aware of this resorts star rating. Blue Bay Villas would have been a excellent resort at some point. The resort is a far cry from any other 4.5/4 star resorts we have been to. Though the staff is friendly, I would not say exceptional. The facilities themselves are very well laid out, the beach is fine and the rooms are big enough. We had to pay $140 cash to upgrade to a room I felt comfortable enough in to unpack, but once again maybe 3 star worthy. The pool for me was the biggest disappointment. It was Dirty, we are not talking a few leaves dirty we are talking clumps of hair, white goo that sticks to your swim suit, greasy build up that sits on the water and makes you need to drink more in order to get into it. The food was nothing to write home and the selection was lacking (very little variety between day to day) however was a notch above cuba and no one got sick or gained weight! The entire resort needs a good renovation. The pool is missing alot of tiles, pool deck is in bad repair with lots of broken or tiles popping up when you walk on them. The room furniture is what you expect from a well worn motel and the general cleaniness just seems to be lacking. BUT, you get what you pay for and this was a cheap vacation. I do highly suggest the star rating for this hotel be reviewed.

Great people!

What really made this trip memorable was the amazing people. The employees At BlueBlay were so friendly and always a smile on their faces. From nightly shows to general pool games and entertainment, they really made our vacation that much more fun. Also, the staff in the buffet were welcoming and remembered our faces every time we walked in for a meal.

Great value for your money

This is my third time to this resort in 5 years. I come back to this resort because I think it is good value for the money, however, you need to set your expectations, as it's really more like a 3 star resort in my opinion. Pros: beach is clean & you can walk a long way, food is decent...lots of selection, resort is small so you can walk everywhere & it's easy to meet new people, 3 pools 1 being a quiet pool. Everyone complains about this, but they don't change it. No one wants to pay for booze at an all inclusive. Improvements: you can now get wifi in a couple of spots on the resort, but it seems to be word of mouth thing to get the password. The Circle One timeshare people were far less aggressive then they have been in the past. What to bring: box of Kleenex and your own hangers, they have some but limited dressers. I will definitely return to this resort.

Very good resort

Nice quaint resort, grounds well kept, rooms a bit outdated, very clean, management very eager to accomodate. Mr Guerro looked after us very well at front desk, beach was great, lots of shade, specialty restaurants good, could always find something to eat at buffet. Bartender Emmanual was very accommodating. Annamation crew fun and lots to do, Veronica was friendly and always interacting with us. Would definitely put on list for a return visit.

Not bad for the money

This resort is small which is ok but definitely needs updating around the pool and the rooms do smell mustie. The buffet is very difficult to maneuver around. The tables are way too close and people were getting bumped into when you try and get up to the good. Animation was excellent with us and seemed to want to get people involved in their activities. The reception staff was excellent and responded to problems very quickly trying to help you out. Oh then they would come running when we were done and getting tips out. Gotta laugh!

Just an okay2.5 star resort 2.5, but not worth the price

This resort has maintence problems with their rooms, specifically plumbing problems. There were numerous people that I talked too that had leaks and floods. That may be par for the course, but the food was at best three star and the entertainment was at best 2 star. During the week there were 2 staged shows. On the remainder of the nights it was the audience that provided the entertainment through karaoke (people who think they can hold a note) and tired old couples games and contests. This is a tired and run down resort.

Very comfortable Resort

This is a great resort, the staff really work hard to keep you happy. The grounds and buildings were well maintained and clean. This resort had the nicest beach area I could see for miles with bar & restaurant right on the beach. Entertainment was a blast, guaranteed to laugh! Our agent Diane Newick really made sure we had everything wee needed plus more

Great week but definitely not a 4 star

Just got back from a week at the Bluebay Villas Doradas with my boyfriend. This is my 4th all inclusive, been to Mexico and Cuba, it was a great week but wouldn't go back. Start with the positives: Food was pretty good, I'm picky but my boyfriend enjoyed everything, fish a la carte was the best one, very fresh seafood. Buffet was good but small but makes sense with smaller resort. Room was clean, staff was super friendly. Animation staff were excellent, Julio, Waldo, George, Veronica, Alfredo [... read more]. They are so passionate about their jobs and are so engaging to talk to, definitely know how to throw a party! The shows were pretty good, entertaining and the ice breakers before were a good way to get the crowds involved. Beach area was big and private, no hotels on the right side which was a bonus and no rocks or anything when you walked in. Negatives: Older resort, rooms were small, we asked for a king bed and got two double beds together so not really a king. Not enough shaded areas at the beach or the pool, had to get up super early to reserve your spot if you wanted shade. Another negative with the beach ha a lot of the cigarette butts, would have been nice to have them clean it more so you aren't stepping in them. Beach towel service was hit and miss, if you wanted a fresh towel they didn't always have them. Wifi was terrible, it was only available in the lobby and only about 10 people could be on it at once and even then it was super slow.

Nothing Fancy

We travelled to this resort on March 22-29th, 2019. PLEASE BEWARE!! there is currently a new building being built very close to the beach right next to the resorts beach section. I wish we would have been advised about this before booking as it did kind of ruin the beauty of the beach for us a bit. Saturday and Sunday was a nice break as there was no construction during the weekend. The bad: - the rooms/building are very dated, the pool area was also very dated with many broken/cracked tiles [... read more] - Extremely annoying vendors on the beach (but I believe this is the same for every resort on Playa Doradas) - Time share people on the resort were quite annoying as well (one guy even asked our friends straight up for cash for beer after work after telling him they didn't want any part of the time shares) - Bartenders seem very overworked and tired most of the time - The buffet was just average - The white wine wasn't very good - Lobby bar was premium liquor "cash only" extra $$ if you wanted to get a drink there - Rusty old room safe was not included and had to pay extra $$ to use it - Only 1 key card per room or you had to pay extra $$ for a second (also A/C only worked if you had the key card in a slot for it) - Half of the loungers are broken or old and stretched out that they require a pillow to be used with them - You had to get up and reserve your lounger at 7 am or earlier if you wanted a none broken lounger and a shaded area on the beach (maybe for the pool as well but we spend 90% of are time at the beach) - Unfortunately the foam party is only once every 2 weeks and we stayed during the off week and never got to experience it - Shower water pressure was quite weak and one day the entire resort had no water pressure for several hours The good: - The beach is very nice (5*), it was a shame that there was construction when we went and the irritating vendors - The beach bar/snack bar is great! Its right on the beach and had a discotheque beach party at night twice a week - Ice water dispensers at all bars - The Oriental and Steak house a la cartes food was amazing - Lobby and restaurant seems fairly new and nice - Resort seem relatively clean everywhere - The garden and ground were very nice and well maintained - There was an area that had orchids and a pond/waterfall on your way to the beach that was very cool - There is a natural ravine with a board crossing over it (to get to the beach) where you can see plenty of wild birds/turtles/fish - Resort was a short drive from the airport - There is a shopping plaza 4-5 mins walking distance from the resort that has a disco-tech club/bar and a sport bar/restaurant. (Note most of the shops is all the same stuff the vendors try to sell you on the beach) I'd strongly recommend booking the catamaran tour with freestyle on the beach for $55 a per (all you can drink and a lunch included). We had a blast with them and really enjoyed the snorkelling and all. Also I would recommend going to the little restaurant at the for western end of the beach called "Le petit Francois" were you can order a Poutine (fries, gravy and cheese curds). Francois, a guy from Quebec, Canada started his own restaurant there and it was delicious. Overall we made the best of our trip and still had a pretty good time but I would not recommend this resort to anyone until it gets some major renovations done to the rooms/buildings and more chairs/lounger as there is not enough for everyone if the resort is full.

Beautiful resort

I loved everything about this resort. The rooms were somewhat outdated but still nice. The food was amazing, can't say anything bad about it. The staff was wonderful, very friendly. The best part was the entertainment. They gave it 100%. Love,love,love. I will be going back there again.

Blue bay is average

Hotel is clean room staff are average, they work long hours. Watch when you check in, " do not ask for an upgrade " prior to seeing your room you will have your first bad experience. The concierge time shard staff are pests....after telling one fellow we were " NOT" interested he still seem to be whatever we showed up. I was not interested in wasting time to listen to a presentation for somewhere I was not prepared to buy into

We had a fantastic stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this resort from may 14-21, 2019. We had a fantastic stay at Blue Bay Villas Doradas. Room: 4/5 Everything in the room worked as it should, it was very spacious for a super saver room. We expected to get a smaller, less equipped room for the cheaper price but it was above our expectations. The only criticism is that it could have been cleaner as the floors were a little dirty when we arrived. Food: 4/5. The food at the beach bar was the least preferred as some of it seemed like leftovers/wasn’t that fresh but it was still flavourful. Atmosphere: 5/5. It was very chill and easy to relax at the beach and they also had a quiet pool. It grounds around our room were also quiet. If you wanted to party, the pool was the place to be as there was entertainment every day. The grounds were also very clean and beautiful. Service: 3/5. The largest criticism would be the service at some of the bars. There were some bartenders that weren’t very friendly. It seemed they only gave good service to people who they were friends with or tipped the most. Also, many of the bars were very slow and seemed understaffed. But we were on vacation and weren’t in a rush so it didn’t spoil our moods. Overall, we had a great time would definitely return.

Really love this resort

We have actually lost count of how many times we have been to this resort.The food ,staff,beach and entertainment are great .If you are looking for top shelf liquor and luxurious rooms rooms remember you get what you pay for .The resort is small ( less than 300 rooms ) which we really like .You can be anywhere including the beach in 5 mins. or less.The Black and White bar in the lobby is not included in your package .There is a small mall within 5 minutes walk with souvenir shops ,restaurants a [... read more]nd stores that see liquor. Go with an open mind and you will love it ! If you are looking for totally luxury with Vegas style entertainment you should probably look at paying much more .For us it fits the bill perfectly and we will return .

Nice Resort

The Resort is very well maintained. The rooms we had was very big and clean. The staff are very polite and helpful..The food is very good. The drinks are not very strong, hey seem to be watered down. There was construction going on during our stay from another resort and it woke us up every morning at 6am..wasn't to pleased about that. The wifi on the resort was terrible.

Great resort

Great staff, rooms were spacious and for 3 people they put in extra bed, only issue was the air conditioner leaked in our room and flooded the bathroom. Food was great, different theme each evening for supper.

Awesome Resort

Our room was in a perfect location,minutes away from everything! The staff was amazing!! The grounds were kept so clean! Our room was cleaned everyday.A great variety of food to choose from.Entertainment was so good each night,we would return!!

Ok vacation

This was our 2nd time to BlueBay. First time was three years ago. If you are looking for a cheap and cheerful resort this is the place. It is in need of an update but there is always somewhere to get a drink or something to eat. Extra sun loungers are needed. Cheap and cheerful.

Will absolutely go again

I had the most relaxing trip ever with my sister Wendie and friends...everyone was so friendly and food was amazing, we took a trip by taci to the plaza, people were very help and everything you sent us was so easy to follow Thanks again
