3 couples, golf and fun

We returned from the resort on Sunday, March 3, 2019. This was our 2nd trip as we went last year too. I have to say we had not one complaint. The staff at this hotel are amazing, you can tell that they are treated well by management as they are happy to work there. Everything from check-in, housekeeping, food, bar service (Luz and Victor at the pool bar) was perfect. A few of the staff even remembered us from last year. We will return next year for sure. Golf vacation

We went to this hotel to golf for the week. The golf course was great well kept. I would have liked to have a beer other than coots light. The staff we very friendly and attentive. Our room was nice overlooking the golf course. The hotel itself was very large nicely decorated and food was great beach great would recommend this hotel.

Very large resort

Our vacation was great but we wouldn’t go back to this resort. Our room had a number of issues (leaking ceiling, broken mirror, cockroaches) the resort is very large and has something for everyone. I think we just had bad luck with our specific room. No bar on the beach which was different compared to other resorts we’ve been to.

Awesome resort

Rooms awesome, food great, pools amazing, view amazing. We were a group and had great time in the resortz. Loved the disco, Food, Room cleanliness, Public areas cleanliness, Beds, bathrooms. We would highly recommend this

Great resort

This was our 5th time here to this specific resort. We are always pleased with everything as there is something for everyone. We stay in the junior suites usually building 2 or 3 which we like as they are close to everything. The rooms are clean always fresh towels hot water and stocked fridge. The food at the buffet gets a bit repetative but we enjoyed the a la carts much better. This is definitely a go to resort for us!

Trip was OK..but we won't go back

Our trip was Jan 10-17 2019. If you go to this resort read this carefully. IT IS NOT A 5 STAR, just because it has a golf course, swim up bar, houses over 2K people and has 7 a la carte restaurants if not a qualification for 5 stars. The service was just okay. 3/5 The rooms ( I upgraded PLUS had 2 family suites) were awful, truly awful! They all need a massive update! They are old and renovations are long over due 2/5 The food was pretty good 3.99/5 The grounds were lovely 4/5.... BUT [... read more] i'm not sleeping our there! The beach chairs were pathetic! they need to clean them replace them! 2/5 If you get this place on sale, go, but DO NOT PAY REGULAR PRICE!

Overall a great trip!

We recently returned from a 7 day vacation at the Barcelo Bravaro Palace. Overall we had a great time. The resort itself is spectacular! The grounds are very well kept and everything is very clean.This resort is attached to the Bavaro Beach resort which is adult only. All the services, including the a la cart restaurants, casino and shopping area are all in the main palace complex, so the folks from the adult only area had to come to the Palace complex for these services. I did have a chance to  [... read more]go visit the adult only area. It was defiantly quieter and a little higher end overall. I went a couple times to the bar at that end of the resort. The second time they noticed may Palace bracelet and would only let me get one drink..:(, ( I was there to get one for me and one for my wife). I assume this is a way to keep you in your respective resort area, however there were lots of folks from the adult only area drinking at the bars in the palace area with no restrictions. There is a large theater with high quality shows every night. There are quite a few shops for general shopping and the main complex so there really wasn't any need to leave the resort. We usually travel around the area when we are on these trips but spent this whole trip on site. We did find some prices inflated in the hotel shopping area. The room it self was kept clean and made up whenever we asked. The bed was large and very comfortable. They kept the bar fridge stocked with juice, pop, beer and water. They also replaced the chips and peanut snack bags every day. The drinks at the bar were all very good. The clear well alcohol was not the best but was hidden well in the mixed drinks. If you asked for premium brand alcohol, ie Absolute vodka, Beefeater gin, they served it no problem. There is only one kind of beer available and the cups are small. The beach is very large and one complaint i have is it is too far to walk to the bar if you were way down the beach. I would recommenced taking a travel mug, to save you some trips! Bottled water is readily available. The beach was kept very clean and there was a crew out every day raking up the seaweed. The resort makes an effort to recycle with plastic only and organic only bins around the beach area. There were ample deck chairs available, although if you didn't get one reserved early in the day, you couldn't get close to the pool or anywhere near a bar on the beach. They allocated you two towels when you arrived to be used at the beach and pool area, which you could swap out anytime. On the second last day, we had a sudden down pour of rain and everyone's towel was soaked. I assumed they would run out of dry towels, but to my pleasant surprise, they had lots. There were hobbie cats available to use for free as well as sail boards and paddle boats. You had to book them a day ahead and you really needed to get there early to get a spot. The food overall was good. With any large buffet, you expect to see yesterdays leftover food recycled in today's meals somewhere. I did not see this. There was lots of selection and different foods every day. The fresh fish was excellent. the salad bar and fresh fruit was excellent as well. Overall, the buffets did not compare to those we have had in mexico, but we didn't loose any weight...;) The a la carts were a little disappointing. We ate at 4 different ones. The Italian restaurant was good. The pasta was always cooked properly. They need to work on their sauces. The Japanese was disappointing. They limit how many different dishes you can order, although you can share. The rice in the sushi rolls was overcooked (which I have found normal at these places). I wanted some Sake with my meal. I was told it was an extra charge (huh?) The seafood restaurant was good, the the service was very slow and non-attentive. Didn't enjoy the atmosphere. The steak house was by far the best. The atmosphere and service was excellent. the steak was done to perfection! There were not many English speaking people there including staff. We had a little difficulty communicating but overall it added to the experience. There were a lot of Russian tourists there and i found them generally self absorbed and rude. Lots of Spanish speaking tourists, coming from South America mainly. I would say less than 20% English speaking American and Canadian guests. The WiFi was supposed to be complimentary, however this was only in the casino. If you wanted WiFi outside of that there was an extra charge. I think it was $45 US for the week, not outrageous, but you could only have one device on at a time and it was a pain to log in and out! Overall a good experience and we would go back!

Large Resort

Grounds well maintained. Room cleaning needs to be improved with proper replacement of toiletries. Perfect for families with young children in family only area. all inclusive price does not include Wave Pool and Pirate Island, this should be stipulated in description.when paying so families can budget costs. Good selection of food. Steak house and Seafood Restaurants should not be considered as an Al a Cart as the food was not anything different from buffet. Hoya (included as part of resta [... read more]urants, but is an Al a Cart) service at table with small buffet area,and good, hot food. Service slow, like all D.R. to be expected. Most importantly ************ they do not understand, speak English well and do not care to try.

Good resort

nice resort , all good except few suggestions: more food options at the sports bar and must add another place to eat when buffet is closed since eating at the sports bar all the time and same food is not fun. it would be nice to have a place on the beach where they do BBQ fish grill etc. bad experience at la Fluente. i would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. poor customer service and food is terrible.

Great vacation!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace is a very nice resort with impeccable grounds. Most staff are warm and courteous. We had a family room with a shared bathroom and 2 separate bedrooms. Location of the family rooms are a little far from the front desk and beach but the walk was nice. Kids club and waterpark are near the family section and that's very convenient. Kids had fun at the waterpark but just a warning that the floor is rough (so they don't slip) and my kids got scratches. One day of some seaweed accumulation but the staff are hard at work 2-3 times per day to remove. We didn't have much trouble finding lounge chairs on the beach or at the pools. Food was mostly ok and always something for everyone. Note that the staff in general is not super fluent in English. My husband is mexican so we were ok. Alot of Russian families and we found out that the staff also speak Russian. Menus and signage is translated in a few languages including Russian. One issue I found is they let people smoke in places like "indoor patios" of their restaurants that are covered and open up farther away. Biggest problem was the service at the Spanish restaurant la Fuente on our last evening. Server was inattentive, blamed us for ordering incorrectly, tried to take away my husband's plate after 5 bites and going to the washroom with the kids, poured water in my empty (never refilled) glass of wine, took forever to clear our plates, never asked how the food was, didn't take our dessert order and went to pour wine at another server's table... so we couldn't wait anymore with 3 little kids and got up and left without tipping. 2 other tables of 2 were either complaining or not getting their food. Unfortunately we didn't get the server's name. No free Wi-Fi but we managed by going to the casino and the pirates waterpark (to which we had gotten a free one day access pass). All in all we would recommend this resort and consider going again.

Great vacation

This was our third visit to the Barcelo Bavaro Palace. This time we traveled as a family of six adults and stayed from Dec. 9 - 16. The facilities were as impressive as during our first visit and the staff was helpful and courteous. If your Spanish is limited, you will find that the staff's English has much improved. The beautiful beach was well groomed every morning, and there was sufficient aquatic equipment for our enjoyment; we went sailing every day. We had a great time and are looking forward to our next visit.

Very Nice Resort

We loved everything there. It is very clean resort. Very big too. A lot of activities in the pool and on the beach. Most of the food was good. But the people who working there are not welcoming as other countries.

Amazing Resort

The resort is really nice, clean, big and got a lot of activities. Location and weather were amazing. The beach was very clean and they had a lot of activities on it. Just I will recommend to have more varaity of food for the open buffet.

Good but needs work

This was our third consecutive year returning to the Barcelo Palace Deluxe. The location beach and weather was fantastic. The past two years we stayed in the Beach Front Jr. Suits as club premium guests and were very happy. This year my wife really wanted a tub in room so we splurged on the Beach Front Master Suit which comes with a living room area tub in and tub out. Upon arrival (2:30) we were checked in and had to wait for our room which we got into at 5:30. We arrived to our room to find no [... read more] inside tub. (I know, first world issues) I called to the club premium desk and was bounced around from desk to desk for literally an hour. I finally found someone who said they would have a manager call me back shortly. We carried on with our evening. A few hours later I spoke with the manager who was also the gentleman who checked us in the previous year (Elvis) I explained the room issue and mentioned that we were third time around guests and it was a tenth anniversary trip,he seemed understanding and said he would call back with a solution before nights end. We received no response and called several times to no avail. We also brought the issue up to our Transat rep who said "best to move on and not waste time". Which we did. We decided to forget about it and not invest any more time into it. We loved our beach time and the resort is very beautiful and well kept. Service staff are friendly. The alacarte restaurants (excluding the French) suck.. sorry they do. They are tired poor service forget about you, bring half orders etc.. We don't complain much and it may not sound like it but we roll with the punches. (And still tip well) we don't make a big deal over missed soups or wrong drinks. We actually had more fun this trip than the previous two, but that was not due to the hotel doing their part. Long story short.. the shows haven't changed the entertainment hasn't changed the menu's haven't changed. The hotel messed up our booking and had many opportunities to turn a bad situation into a positive situation for returning guests on a special occasion. But they didn't not did Transat. Would love to return to Bavaro beach but it won't be with Barcelo :(

More than expected!!

Golf coarse was in great shape!!Hotel staff was more then helpful in every way. The room was very spacious and clean. The view was excellent. Staff stopped in every night to make sure nothing was required for an excellent night. The grounds were very clean . Overall a must return is in order!! Golfing was great but cart rentals were expensive 75$US. Once again I would like to thank all barcelo bavero palace staff for a very much needed fabulous vacation!! Thank you

Punta Cana Vacation

This was our first trip to the Caribbean and the resort was fabulous. Service was top notch and the beach was perfect. The food was very good with a great selection at the buffet; as well as a nice assortment of A La Carte restaurants.

Disappointed

We went to Barcelo resort in Maya Revira last year and was quite enjoy the hotel. We thought stick to the same resort chain just to be safe. This time we are quite disappointed at Punta Cana Barcelo Babaro Palace: there are flies chasing the food at buffet, and we have to fight with flies at dinner table for our utensils and glasses. Either of us are drinkers, we were hoping to enjoy some good dining at this five star hotel, I have to say that the restaurant food are not impressive either.

All good!

Clearly a resort the Barcelo group can be proud of! We took an 8 day stay and absolutely loved it. The grounds, beach, every public area and rooms were impeccably clean and well maintained. Polite and smiling personnel. The food: fresh, varied and well presented. Well above average. I have nothing negative to say except we would have stayed longer...

Golf Spectacular!!!

From the moment we arrived at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace we were treated like royalty. Premium cocktails served while checking in, gracious staff in all areas of the resort, beautiful ocean view suite, restaurant choices from casual to formal and the golf!!!! A Pete Dye designed 18 hole masterpiece complete with 4 flamingos who reside on the back nine. The Hoya 19 was a wonderful spot to unwind after the round and enjoy premium service in a premium lounge. We will definitely be back. Good for price

Room is amaging. The jacuzzi in the balcony was best. Food is not completely satisfactory. The Barcelo Maya (Mexico) has much better restaurants. I think it is better to book as a Premium, otherwise you have to pay Wifi, reservation restriction at the restaurants, etc.
