Great Vacation

The resort was very clean and pool area was awesome. The beach is beautiful and the catamaran rides were so much fun! Rooms are dated but very clean, sometimes there was lukewarm water for showers but other than that not bad at all. Lots to choose from at the Buffet, the only Ala carte restaurant that was good was the Japanese. The staff was very nice and fun.

Resort was Clean

The resort was very clean but a bit run down. There was a large group of us so we discussed our rooms etc. Most of us did not have hot water, some rooms had no toilet seats, some safes weren't working. There is only 1 large pool which had a lot of children. Also, 1 large eating area where you had to wait in line for cooked eggs, and then wait in line to make your toast. Had to keep waving the flies away because it is all open. The 3 specialty restaurants were booked solid unless you wanted [... read more] to eat at 8 pm or 9 pm. but that may have been because there were so many of us. It may have been better for 2 - 4 people. The beach is bumpy because of the storm they had last January so it's not smooth sand anymore. You need water shoes to go into the water because of all the rocks and coral. Bar service was non existent so you had to go to the bar to get drinks and even then they were slow to serve you.

A disappointment

Not impressed. Rooms were dated and smelled “stale”. There was very little hot water in my room so showers felt like the temperature of the ocean for 3 out the 7 days we were there. Food was “ok” and entertainment was a joke. Will not be returning to this resort again.

Relaxing vacation

Playa Costa Verde was a great resort! Approximately 1 hour bus ride from the airport. The beds were comfy and our room was looked after with excellent care. I liked that the resort was a little smaller and a 5 minute walk got you anywhere you wanted to go. Everyone that worked here was so warm and welcoming! Great Resort

Playa Costa Verde is a small resort with everything you need. This is our second year. The food was good for Cuba but not as good as last year. People are great and some have great sense is humors. The only fault is the rocks in the water at the beach, but on the other hand it makes snorkeling awesome about 100 feet right off shore. Mosquitos are terrible. Not everyone seems to be bothered but I definitely was. Huge itchy red bumps.

A Nice Getaway

Just got back from a 7 day stay at the Playa Costa Verde with my husband and 14 year old son. While some of the decor might be a little dated the rooms and grounds of the resort are kept very clean and tidy. The gardens and other flora and fauna are well tended and both the beach and pool kept as neat as a pin. We were warned about the food in Cuba and our friends and family weren’t wrong. The food was quite bland and there were occasional shortages of things like hamburger buns (we preten [... read more]ded we were cutting out carbs) and bacon on just one morning (people acted like it was the end of the world). However, the Japanese A la carte was fantastic (Jaqueline was super entertaining), the woman that makes the donuts, pancakes and fried dough at breakfast deserves half a dozen Michelin Stars and the coffee at the lobby bar was amazing. The beach was remarkable. Go 10 feet out, slap on some goggles and BAM!, you’re looking at schools of tropical fish and coral reefs. Simply stunning. We had no problem finding seating at either the pool or beach, even in the middle of the afternoon when shade was at a premium. Our only main complaint was that checking in was disorganized, lacked pertinent information (ie: where does one find beach towels?) and the front desk personnel seemed more interested in welcoming repeat resort goers than assisting newbies who could really use the help (this unfortunately, seemed to be a theme with servers as well. Luckily, their friendliness and willingness to go the extra mile kind of balanced everything out.) For reference, check out was a complete breeze. While the Playa Costa Verde may not be a resort we return to, our stay was lovely and we had a very relaxing time. We would recommend this resort to friends looking to visit Cuba on a limited budget.

Great hotel

This was my first time at this hotel but second for my husband and our 11 year old son. Very clean hotel, big rooms and good food for Cuba standards. Even there is shortage of flour in Cuba there was bread at the resort. There is always something to eat even for pickiest eaters. Since my husband was returning customer we got complementary bottle of rum and all our diners were booked, which was very nice of them. There is not much for the kids to do even they have kids club but my son did not go there. We did not attend any shows because we were early in a room, tired from swimming and sun.

Beautiful resort!

Was really impressed with our room which had a large wrap around balcony and view of the grounds. We were close to everything, pool, beach and main lobby. The Japanese restaurant was the best! That was such a fun night. The resort staff were all very friendly! The french fry restaurant was open 24/7 which was good if we spent too long at the beach or pool, we could grab a quick bite anytime! They had a nice variety, spaghetti, pizza, fish, eggs, etc, cooked anyway you want. The only part of the buffet I wasn't keen on was that it was open with birds flying in and pecking at the food, mostly bread, but still a bit of a turn off. However, overall, the stay was great and the excursion to see the dolphins offsite on the catamaran was a lot of fun too! We were on the catamaran that reeled in a 100 lb Marlin! It was an amazing trip and adventure for our group! The beach had coral reefs which was great for snorkeling. I would definitely go back to this resort!

Amazing resort

Very good impressions from stay in Hotel Playa Costa Verde. Staff was very friendly in hotel starting from workers at Reception, staff in restaurants. Clean and very spacious rooms. Food quality was good. I would like to personally thank to Air Transat representative named Orlando that works in the hotel as well as to Air Transat representative at airport Louis Alonso. My daughter and me missed bus transport to the airport in the morning and they both made sure that we arrive on time before a [... read more]irplane departure of the return day. Delightful first visit to Cuba!

Our first visit to Cuba was wonderful! The pool was clean, the buffet had a reasonable selection to choose from, and the staff was friendly and polite. If we needed anything, our requests were met quickly. We are already planning our next visit and would gladly return to this resort. The rooms are a bit tired/dated, but they are clean and serve their purpose. Be sure to spend some quality time on the beautiful beach - the snorkeling is fantastic!

Great relaxing vacation

The hotel is perfect for families, has a good entertainment program and friendly staff. There were no issues with food, the room or the noise level, it was just a bit unfortunate that we did not get access to a room to shower after we checked out and our flight was six hours later.

Great resort

Rooms: we stayed in 4612 room which is a ground level. The rooms are nice and big, has fridge that gets filled with a big thing of water and two pops everyday. The beds are decent to sleep on and there is extra blankets in the closet. My only complaint about the rooms are the bathrooms. They were clean and doable but we always found our room smelling like fresh stool no matter if it wasn’t even used. Water was hot and pressure was great in the shower. Linen and towels changed and made into dif [... read more]ferent things each day. There are hangers in the closet to hang up items and of course a safe. The plugs in the room was tricky. There is one plug by the sink that is 110v outlet but we found it didn’t work. No plug in the room would work my straightener. There is a hair dyer there that works decently but takes time. Pool: the pool is where we spent most of our time as it was the most convenient and you could always find some shade. The swim up bar was great and easy to get a drink. Sometimes they had people walking around taking drink orders too. There is always entertainment by the pool like games, dancing, fashion shows etc. Victor was amazing and made sure we got involved with activities! Beach: We only spent about two day on the beach. It was so hard to find shade even if you went at 8 am! We found it to be too much just in the sun. There is lots of rocks when you first get in the water but once you get past that it’s sandy. Apparently they had a storm come through and mess up their beach a bit. There is volleyball and some activities by the beach. There is a bar right on the beach to the left but still a little bit of a walk depending where you sit. There is a nice restaurant by where you exchange your towels and the chicken is sooo good! Highly recommend it! Food: I’m a picky eater and struggled to find food. There is a 24/hr snack bar that has hot dogs and French fries which I lived off of. It’s typical Cuba food. Most people got pasta and meat for dinner. Breakfast there was usually eggs, hasbrowns, toast, fruit, crapes but no waffles or French toast or anything. The a la cartes were soooo good!!! Drinks: typical Cuba selection I found. During the day usually liquor and slushy drinks and night was screwdrivers. They arnt the best at making shots but not horrible. There are vendors in the lobby to buy things but also a market across the road to shop. This resort is about an hour from the airport but goes by pretty fast.

Get what you pay for..

Decent rooms for an older resort, problems with the shower pressure/the and toilet not flushing. Pool was nice and clean with lots of space to sit. Great poolside bar tenders. Alcohol was watered down and food was not great, we ate the same thing all week. However the Japanese a la carte was fantastic! The beach was super rocky and came home with multiple sand flea bite. Small amount of choice for excursions. Overall decent weather, grounds and staff.

People were very nice friendly Beach very coral need water shoes Room okay mornings the water flow was slow got better in the afternoon Food is okay but it’s cuba food Disappointed that the dive shop was gone But was told it’s being rebuilt and they are starting to up work on the place

Nice hotel

We enjoyed our stay and had an overall get time there. The grounds were kept clean, the pool was great but the only down side to it were the small ceramic tiles on the floor of it were coming off so we worries about cutting our feet. The long walk to the beach with the swamp on the sides of the bridge was our least favourite part of it. The food overall was good the Japanese restaurant was our favourite forsure. Beautiful Playa Costa Verde

This resort is great because of the staff and how it is laid out. The only thing I feels requires change is the bath tubes/ bath rooms. I wish there were showers and updated. The chooses of food is good with specialty dishes every night.

Hidden Paradise

This was my ninth time to this resort. There are many reasons why I keep returning. From the time I get off the bus to getting into my room I am well into a good time. the people are very friendly and they have a good memory as they call me by name and I them. The buffet is my favorite place as I can select my food and the amount. I love the pasta bar with chef Simone who will make you a pasta of your choice on the spot. The pool bar is a great place to be entertained as you never know what tricks are up by bar tender Jesus. This place is always enjoyable and a lot of fun. All in all I am ready to return at the earliest possible time.

Excellent choice for a resort

Although I have only been to Cuba 3 times, this is ultimately the best resort of all 3. Friendly staff, always hot water to shower, food is, well, it's Cuba. All the same between the 3. I have never had a problem finding anything that wasn't delicious to eat.

Still a great resort.

This was our seventh visit to PCV and we made use of our free week and stayed for two from Feb. 1 to 15. Sunwing had crew problems so we were 2 hrs 40 min late leaving TO. The flight home was on time but Pearson was packed so over an hour from aircraft to taxi. The resort continues to make upgrades and is keeping up with repairs. All the loungers at the pool have been replaced and there are more of them as well as side tables. The loungers are the plastic type used on the beach so an inflata [... read more]ble pad is a good thing to slide into your suitcase. We don't go for the food but there was little variety on the buffet this time with the same selections on the hot tables most nights. We like the fresh fish grill most anyway. The three a la carte restaurants and the returning guest dinners were all the expected good quality and variety. The new beach bar and water sport facility are open and much nicer than the ones that they replaced. Provided shelter during a short rain storm one afternoon. The old building has been leveled so there is more usable shade in that area and the palm trees are not blocked by boats. The beach is the same beautiful strip of sand that extends into the water in most areas but water shoes are a good idea as storms will cause the sand to shift exposing rocks in places.

Great resort

The staff were incredible during our stay here. The grounds were beautiful and the beach fantastic . The food was great! Miss this place already. Rooms were good. Would definitely go back to this resort!
