Enjoyable trip

The beach is very nice for walking. The grounds were well kept. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff was very nice and my room was very clean. The food was a little over cooked but we always found plenty of food we liked. We enjoyed all the water sports.

Great resort!!

The food was good, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Easy access to a beautiful beach. The pools are nice as well, with the exception a few missing tiles in one of the pools. I would assume the repairs will be done in the slow season. Anything that wasn't working was very quickly addressed and repaired. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!!

Nice place to vacation for families with kids

I had some problems with TV signal but Jorge from Public Relations was able to resolve the problem quickly. Room was very clean except a bit far from the cafeteria especially for a senior citizen to walk. Cafeteria had a good selection of food and bars well stocked.

Horrible experience!

Gorgeous beach, creepy men working there who will sexually harass/assault you. Beautiful spacious pools with locals having sex in them. Horrible food which by our 5th day they ran out. Workers constantly served tap water when asked for bottled. Poor service. Prostitution all over the resort. Overall a horrible experience would not re visit or recommend.

Beautiful beach and great swimming.

Lovely property and very comfortable rooms. Staff are generally kind and helpful. The food is disappointing if you are one who is health conscious. Almost all offerings have either added butter, oil, excess salt, sugar or gravy or sauce. Very difficult to find wholesome unadorned choices. Some of the food is really really "tired" after the third or fourth presentation, no matter how much sauce or gravy to compensate. Best to stick with daily fish or meat cooked to order. There is very limited bottled water at the restaurants and bars. The "fries" are now deep fried tortilla chips. The "hamburgers" are indescribable. What are they? Nothing like you have ever had or would ever want to have. That said, ice cream is always great! Entertainment is world class. Wonderful music. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes, if you don't mind just so so food at best. Fantastic beach with crystal clear water.

Closed

We were re routed to the sol and mar. That was a good hotel. Rooms had ants..not only mine. Food was decent but lunch and dinner had same items. No line ups for food which was a plus. Beach was good..and pool was clean.

Dream vacation

As a first timer to try an all inclusive vacation away from home, it was everything that I dreamed of. The hotel rooms were great and cleaned every day and food is excellent, roast pork that was cook in fire was the best. And the best and most important of all are the staff, friendly, nice, courteous and trustworthy. A very great experience! I would like to come back soon!

Beautiful resorts

Hotel is great nice room , good for couples and families to stay,dining is okey but we’re expecting that Asian restaurant is open .i think only 3 dining is open. People are very friendly and the place is wonderful.

Amazing Beach & Snorkeling

If you have mobility issues you want to be in the older section. We were at this resort 3 times 10 - 12 years ago. We found it charming then and we find it charming now, One must consider that this is a third world, communist country with food shortages. Having said that; they do an incredible job with what they have. There was a lot of fish, which I don't eat, but I always managed to find something to eat. While the shows are similar to other places you might have been they are still entertaining. Funny enough there is a cigar bar where you cannot smoke due to improper ventilation. I think they should have a few outdoor tables and chair sets for folks to test the wares. Having said all of that. we got away form $709 pp and definitely feel that we came out on top. You not only get the world's best beaches, you get the world's most beautiful people.

Average resort

The resort was fairly well maintained and the staff was very good. The beach was amazing and everyone very helpful. Always fresh beach towels and chairs available. Buffet was repetitive and by the end of the week we were very tired of it. The grill food was good however the same thing each day. The alacarts were ok but we did not like the Asian night. We were definitely not happy with the huge cockroach my daughter found in her shower towel and the ones on the walls of the buffet. Resort was nice

Beautiful beach the pool was nice the staff was nice the grounds were clean. Not enough restaurants opened at night(off season I guess) but the ones that were opened were edible for Cuba standards. Buffet did not like at all. Only morning for breakfast was good.

Cuban authentic in Holguin

We have been on a 7 day visit to this resort in Holguin; there has been many plus points and of course some minus points as well, like most Cuban 4* resorts. We can easily say the beach of this resort, which was at the Playa Pasquero area, was one of the best in Cuba, and we have been to most of the beaches. In the water the aquarium kind of colorful fish, above the water all the yellow butterflies flying from the end of the beach forest area to the back of the beach and circling within the reso [... read more]rt continuously. The landscape and the flowers on the grounds were truly more impressive than any other resort we have been, which include some Melia and Memories resorts. The rooms, at least the one we stayed in, was very clean, specious and free of bugs. We have noted that the bugs, even the 'noseethem' were almost non existent at this resort during our stay, which eliminated the discomfort of the itching e.t.c. The air-condition and hot water in the room were also without any issues. The most disappointment was with the availability of food choices; it must have been related to the limitations imposed on this country, and this resort may have been one of the hardest hit with the limitations. Not being picky about food in Cuba, usually our 'go to' food there would be, Pizza, quality cheese selection, very good bread selection and 'french fries'. However, this time even these items were very scarce to the point when we arrived the hamburger/hot dog were served without the bun, and forget about french fries. Pizza was also a rare option. The rest was pasta, which you can choose your ingredients, and some selection of 'lamb stew', or pork chops, which were quite good, but only one day for each. No Paella, no grilled fish at the beach snack bar. There could be some improvements with the choice of food offered perhaps, even with the limitations, it would be a good idea to switch the menu at the beach snack area a few times during the week. The Beach Buffet was closed, which has a lovely view of the beach. The Mexican A La Carte never existed during our week. Also the beach snack bar closes at 2pm. However, the loveliest of beaches, the clean room, lack of bugs, and the wonderful landscaped grounds made up for the food choices. Lobby area quite run down, in need of new cusions for the seating and better lighting to improve. The lovely water fountain scultpture at the Lobby bar is dry. Only one night lobby bar live music, which we missed all week. Overall we had a very relaxing time, and love the wonderful Cuban people and their very positive attitudes under their circumstances. We Canadians are privileged to be able to visit and enjoy this unspoiled piece of Paradise.

Good resort... be carefull in low season!!

Second time at this resort. Very desappointed because i booked a kids free room/area and there was kids yelling all over the bungalows, the pool and the beach! Usually they have an area and pool for kids and another area for adults (pool and bungalow) Apparently because it is the low season, they dont separate the areas but it was sold kids free. It seems they were not ready to receive people! The 3rd day, they open the kids pool, the fountain and the food was better. The a la carte restaurants were close so we had to go to the buffet or the italian. 2 nights the buffet was close and everybody had to go the the Italian restaurant wich serves good food. The room itself was very nice and very comfortable. Difficult to take a shower because the temperature goes to very very hot to cold, i experienced it the first time. The beach was ok. A lots of rocks at the beach when you enter water so you have to be carefull. The service is impeccable if you tip, otherwise, they forget you quickly!!. The animation was very basic for that kind of resort. I had to call the reception desk 3 times, and i didnt see Cuban time there!! The service was really quick, and always on time, i was surprised!! The staff is very very nice, very welcoming. I would recommand that hotel in the busy season.

Don't waste your money

First of all the management not doing they're job,closing buffet restaurant without notify the costumers giving two a la carte choices if you don't like it to bad. The food is terrible,i'm not a picky guy on the last day run out of food and plates, roaches inside the restaurant. The local people coming for the weekend going around grabbing fruits and deserts to they're tables leaving nothing for others,they have no respect, the rooms have big gaps around the doors there is lizards inside. The grounds its OK clean OK,workers OK and friendly..but...i won't go back and don't recommend it.

Great vacation

This hotel had changed hands since our previous visit in 2017. Happily, the changes were for the good. The food is above average for Cuba. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. They were always happy to serve you whether you tipped or not. Always smiling, and our room cleaner did a great job. We will probably visit again in the future.

Just returned from this resort. I had booked last minute and when I arrived at the Holguin airport they put me on the bus for my resort but then asked me to take my bag from the bottom storage compartment myself as there were no seats for me. They did put me on another bus going close by quickly and I was ok with that ...had paid extra for a pool view room but was booked into a room facing the backside of a snack-bar.The kitchen side that was open and where supplies were dropped and picked up. The food was pretty good, the ice cream was v-good..the service at the main snack bar was poor.. waited to get drinks.The staff were not in a hurry to wait on people.I always asked for dark rum they always put white in, right in front of me. I learned quickly that you had to push your way in The bar tenders never seemed to take notice of who was there first and yes I tipped and the locals were not tipping. Getting a drink was painful. I bought beer and rum at the gift shop and that was better. I did notice that the gift shop charge 1 cuc per beer this was nice and fair so didn't mind that because I was tipping that every other time and the cans held more beer and better. Lots of locals visiting resort ? 80%...The resort was not packed...ending of tourist season I guess. The grounds, layout ,pools and beeches were very nice and clean. I spent time in the main lobby and found the cleaning staff to be very good...Found bread to be scarce and bland...something was missing...buns on hotdogs and hamburgers hard and bland. If you don't want to buy your own beer and are looking for bar service then stay away but overall everything else was good...The service in the buffet was good I must add that only the pool snack bar was bad...but that was the main bar.I never fell sick during my visit

Excellent Value

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Very clean, everything was in good working order, super friendly and efficient staff, food was excellent for Cuba and there was lots of variety. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering a trip to Cuba!

Absolutely fantastic resort

Everything from the service, food, rooms and all amenities were spot on. Would recommend this resort to anyone and plan on going back again!! The cleanliness of the resort was very noticeable, cannot think of one complaint.

Overall okay, but needs improvements

The rooms were nice and clean. There were a couple of maintenance issues. One being the water in my block would go from cold to scalding hot back to freezing cold. We were there for two weeks and evey shower I took was like that. I had to watch the water closely when I was showering my daughter so she wouldn’t get scalded. We did contact maintenance but the problem was never fixed while we were there. One lamp needed to be screwed back into the wall, and the curtains were starting to come off [... read more] their rings. To me that wasn’t a big deal, but deserves to be mentioned. However, that room was nicely cleaned everyday, and our maid was so sweet with my daughter. The card in the room said her name was Edlisa I believe (I was in apartment building 18). She definitely deserves a shout out. The food was a let down. I know there’s a food shortage in Cuba right now, so I don’t want to be to harsh. However, there was not much variety of anything. I didn’t starve, but the food was far better the last time I went 3 years ago. The Asian al la cart was fantastic, and so was the Mexican. The Italian for dinner was not good at all, but for lunch the pizzas weren’t bad. I went to the lunch seafood al la cart once while there and that was good as well. Unfortunately we weren’t able to try Cuban while we there, due to the fact it was closed the night we tried going. Most of the time the service for the restaurants and snack bar was very poor. The one night at the Mexican and Italian restaurants we waited at least 1/2 an hour for service, and the time in between courses was far to long. The snack bar is for sure under staffed and could use at least 1-2 more servers. To be honest the only restaurant (including the buffet) that gave consistently good food and service was the Asian. The biggest let down was the fact that we paid a premium rate for VIP and we got nothing extra. When we were there last they had a VIP bar, pool, updated room, as well as extra al la carts. This time around there was absolutely no difference between VIP and regular rates. I do want to give one more shout out to the boys that run the rum tasting in the evenings. They are a great bunch of guys and very knowledgeable. The rum tastings are a fairly new thing to the resort, and they were very open to suggestions on how to make it better and perfect it. My husband absolutely loved going. I think he went 3 times! The beaches were nice, and the pools were fairly clean. Although, there were a lot of used straws laying around the pool area in the mornings. Overall it was a pretty mediocre experience. I think my husband and I will go back once fiesta works out the kinks better.
