You get what you pay for

We had a nice stay at confresi palm. We aren’t usually very picky travellers but the one thing that I wasn’t super impressed with was that booking through trip central didn’t give you access to all the facilities - about 90% of the resort was only available to “VIP members” which costed an extra fee. On our first day there, we were approached by a resort employee who told us he would take us on a tour of the resort but actually took us to the sales centre, where were were stuck for abo [... read more]ut an hour trying to get talked into upgrading to a VIP for an annual fee. The resort really creates a segregation between just standard guests and vip guests - for example we weren’t allowed on some parts of the beach and weren’t allowed at some bars. Other than that, the beach was beautiful and the food was ok, loved the Italian a la carte! If you care about the rooms, I would definitely recommend a garden or beach view, as the standard was a bit out dated and run down.

Absolute amazing time

I had an amazing time at the cofresi palm resort all the staff and entertainers went above and beyond. The shows were amazing and had some great parties. Met some really great people and I cannot wait to go back again. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Amazing!

The resort was absolutely beautiful. Our room was probably one of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in and was cleaned everyday. All the staff were very nice. The food was delicious. Beyond happy with our stay here. Will definitely be visiting again.

Always something to do don't have to leave resort

Ive been there few times great place always something to do been to 10 different pools always meet different people. Night shows amazing from the Coliseum to the Dome always something different. I go for the weather beautiful and hot get to met many different people form all parts world. The workers are very special always happy from someone sweeping the grounds to the girl at the desk. to many people to name all great people with respect i love the place and will continue to go there.

Overall great trip! Big Resort!

My husband and I went to Cofresi resort for 12 days on our honeymoon. Despite being given incorrect information by our trip central travel agent about the VIP package, we are VERY glad we got the upgrade. This allowed us to use The Tropical part of the resort including buffet, a la carts dinners and the VIP beach with free wifi. (Although the wifi is VERY slow and doesn’t work at times) We were also able to get wifi at the sports bar with the upgrade. Upon arrival, after the long and hot wait to check in, no one told us where we could go or where we couldn’t go on the resort/s. They just gave us a map and pointed out a few main places. Because we had the VIP upgrade we thought we could go into certain VIP beach areas, as they had signs saying VIP beach. We assumed this was our upgrade. But we quickly got kicked out. We were very upset about this and had to take the long trek back to the lobby for them to explain. We were also told by our trip central travel agent we would get wifi in our room, which we did not. Our room was building 40, close to the Cofresi main buffet. It was newly renovated, big shower and jacuzzi tub. This too was part of the VIP upgrade. The room was clean and the maids always did a great job! The room they gave us on check out to shower before departure showed us what the other buildings rooms are like, and again we were happy for the upgrade. There is a definite sewage smell in a few spots on the resort. Probably the reason they have a sign on all toilets not to flush the toilet paper down. Clearly a sewage issue. The resort is very big and lots of bars and things to go to. Once you get to know where your going it’s not too bad, and only a few places you have to catch a shuttle. Both my husband and I got very sick at the Casa Blanca buffet at The Tropical on different nights. Food poisoning? But overall the food was decent at both buffets. The Brazilian restaurant was probably our favourite, and the Mexican. I wish there were more 24 snack places open. The only place was the Mexican restaurant on The Tropical resort with very little selection. Or nachos and cheese at the sports bar. The VIP beach was where we spent most of our days when we were not doing day trips/activities. We loved the cabanas, the servers were great, and the cool jet tubs were awesome. Although on weekends they do let what seems to be locals come visit the VIP beach and they turn the wifi off and don’t have servers around anywhere until after noon-1pm it seems like? We came around 10:30am on a Sunday and almost couldn’t find a cabana. The beach isn’t the best. We went in November so not sure if that affects the waves? Cloudy water so not ideal for any kind of snorkeling. Very wavy, which can be a blast at times, just not to relax in the water and a lot of debris/garbage in the water at times. We ended up buying a floaty to enjoy the ocean some more. This resort seems to cater to the VIP members, and time share owners etc more. The ones with the gold, red or black shiny bracelets. They get golf carts to drive around in and just seem to get better service overall. Not sure if I would go back. I’ve been to other resorts that are still big with lots to do, but less confusing with all the different areas you can and can not go to. I’ve only been to resorts where the whole resort is all inclusive, not just certain areas. Just my preference. For the resort to improve I would recommend more signs with clearly marked bracelets where you can and can not go or a better map that clearly marks guest areas.

All around good resort

The Trasnsat rep was informative and helpful. Resort staff were friendly. Small problem with the air conditioner in our room, so the hotel upgraded us to a junior suite. They were quick to respond to this. The food in all the restaurants was very good. The beach and the pools were excellent. Entertainment was good. The hotel grounds were kept clean. The only mess i saw was from the ignorant guests at the resort. I wonder if they make such a mess in there own homes. Large resort with lots of le [... read more]vels. We needed the exercise from all the good food we ate.

Great resort

This resort was awesome. Very clean, very friendly people. Lots of food options. The restaurants were great. The room was the nicest room i have ever stayed in. It was definitely one of the cleanest resorts I have seen. My only complaint in the size of the whole resort. But they had shuttles to take you to the different places. Would have been nice to have things more within walking distance though. Other than that, i have zero complaints about this resort.

Excellent well worth the cost

When I got to the resort I thought it was like others but there is so much to do and the place is huge. Pools everywhere you go restaurants all over Bars everywhere you go. Food is very good and a lot of places to eat there is nothing you need when your there. The workers from the girl who cleaned my room to the bar tenders to the people who work in the food areas i had no complaints.Amazing shows at night and entertainment and great place for a holiday. Very large Resort

The room was beautiful I'm the junior suite ,clean and modern. Staff was great ,where they were to be seen. The resort is so big it really took is a few days to figure out where everything was. We were not impressed with it being a time share resort the harrassment we received from the sales team people at the entrance of the restaurants that nail you the first day your there. They lied to us saying he was taking us for a tour of the resort to show is where everything was . We asked if it was a  [... read more]timeshare gig and he said no. We ended up spending half of our day in an office with several people trying to sell us a membership after saying no continuously . Yes it's beautiful if your looking for a timeshare membership go for it. Casino bring US money that's all they take there. And you can't get it at any ATM or bank there. No one serves drinks at the pools or beaches . Be prepared to walk a lot or wait for shuttles to pick you up to take you around. Food was decent ,rooms clean but lack of filling the fridge with drinks. Got to tip good to get the services you want. Lots to offer there if your a VIP member.

Cofresi is an amazing resort

Everything Bout the resort was amazing.. People were great...food was great...really friendly....id love to go back.... I didnt like the Airlines but not everything can be perfect...but all in all was a trip to remember

Amazing resort!

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. There is something for everyone here due to its huge size. The rooms are always tidy and clean due to the hard working cleaning people. The pools are available almost everywhere, and there is a variety of different depths. The restaurants are also all delicious, but some have more variety than others. The entertainment is also an amazing part of the resort. Every night there is a show except for Thursday when they have a huge resort wide party. Fabulous stay with friends

My friend and I stayed at the cofresi palm beach resort by lifestyle, it was a fantastic stay. The room was not so great but we only slept there so we didn't care. We got fresh towels and toilet paper and clean room so we were good. The beach is I believe man made so it's not the prettiest. BUT all the pools were great and the place is HUGE so we had lots of options. You do have to shuttle a lot of places but there are shortcuts you can take to get to the restaurants. There are tons of a la cart [... read more]e restaurants but you do have to book them early because they go fast, every single one we went to was delicious. Casablanca buffet was amazing. Every night is a different theme so the food is not repetitive.I have read many reviews and they all said there are a lot of stairs and a lot of walking and they weren't kidding so if you're not prepared to upgrade to VIP to use the golf carts there's going to be a lot of walking. The people were amazing they treated us like Queens, if you stay at the cofresi there is a VIP bar it's called the sports bar and the bartenders are awesome it's has AC and the drinks are delicious I definitely recommend it. All in all it was a great stay.

Wonderful Time!

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. The property is huge! Even without VIP wristbands (which you really don't need) you can have a wonderful trip. While you only have access to one beach, there are ten pools for regular guests to visit, including two with swim up bars. We never had trouble finding loungers in the shade. The resort was relatively empty at this time of year, so we ate in the a la carte restaurants every night. Bring singles to tip the staff in the buffets and they will find you every day and make sure you have everything you need. We got upgraded to a junior suite and the room was amazing! I prefer cruising, but I enjoyed this trip and would definitely return.

Amazing resort

The resort was beautiful beaches are great amazing swimming pool staff is very accommodating would recommend anybody wanting to go......................................................................................................................................................................

Great resort

The beach was good and staff were good as well. Accommodations were ok. The big difference is we were vip (regular) as there are a couple higher vip packages. But even if you weren’t vip the place is good. We were able to enter the vip beach and bar area was quite cool. There was a difference in food and drinks. Overall we would visit again.

Great vacation!

The hotel was great, our room was very clean. It was literally a 2min walk to the beach from our room. Confresi staffs were very polite and friendly. Food was okay. The price we paid was pretty descent considering we had the pool, cabanas and beach to ourselves! I would definitely go back with my friends and family again to this resort!

Great resort

Nice room with a beautiful pool and beach view, close proximity to all amenities, friendly and helpful staff, great food, the Al La Carts wee awesome. Overall good experience. Would recommend to family and friends

Great resort! Too bad so much emphasis on VIP!

The resort was very large and lots of walking. We knew this going in so it was not a surprise. The food was good and the staff were very attentive. We especially enjoyed Patrick and Jacqueline at the buffet at The Tropical, Casablanca. The entertainment staff at Cofresi was awesome! We enjoyed meeting Julio! He was lots of fun!!! We had a great time at the Lifestyle Sunday night bbq! It was fantastic as well as the Transat bbq.

A huge resort

The standard rooms were ok. Well maintained everyday. The grounds out of 5 was to me a 4 of keeping it clean. The resort is quite large so you better enjoy walking and stairs to get to places, they do provide shuttles which is a bonus. VIP people should have there own section there was a lot of VIP places we couldn't go in that made it awkward. Food was great plenty of dishes.

Cofresi Palm Beach Resort - Puerto Plata

The people at this resort are very friendly and helpful. The food was good. There are many stairs here for getting around and this is one of the negative things about this resort. There’s too much walking and climbing up and down the stairs. I had sore legs after only two days. You can take a shuttle van to save all the walking in this large resort. The beach was not good as there were bad smells coming from the sewers right onto the beach. This was most unhealthy for visitors coming to  [... read more]stay at this resort. I only went swimming once in the ocean as there was a huge amount of sea weed that covered me when trying to swim and it stayed on me until I came out of the water. I would suggest getting some of the workers to clean up the beach to make it more inviting for visitors to your resort. I don’t think we’d come back because of the many stairs to climb and the poor beach conditions.
