Great beaches, lousy showers

The staff and service were great. The food was the worse I seen since coming to Cuba, now my 9th time. I feel for the people of Cuba as there supplies are meager. This shows in the food offered. Even the ala cartes were less perfect thn they used to be. Having a cold shower because they are saving power will cost the tourism industry money in that no one will come.

The cockroaches in the buffet and restaurants were disgusting. I would not recommend or go back! When we called front desk for help with our bags upon checkout no one came. Pools also needed to be cleaner

Liked the Resort, Sunwing - a big dissapointment

Beautiful resort, staff do their best to make everyone happy, weather was amazing, beach is beautiful. And all this gets ruined by Sunwing. We confirmed with the rep there that on the day of departure, we are supposed to be in the lobby with our luggage at 5.50 (bus supposed to pick us up at 6 pm). We were waiting from 5.50 until 6.30, then I called Sunwing, they put me a hold, I waited for 15 min and I decided to stop waiting. We called a taxi and left for the airport at 6.45. Now I need two th [... read more]ings: 1. Where to send my taxi receipt for reimbursement 2. When I get the phone bill, who is reimbursing my call to Sunwing? And by the way, if we did not take a taxi, we could have missed the plain, the lineup for luggage checkin was 1h45m

Disappointed, 3 star resort at best

The Good: 1. Beach was beautiful and well kept 2. Pool was clean and great as well 3. Japanese restaurant was by far the best food and experience, wish we booked all 3 a la carts there! 3. Definitely book the private Havana tour, the tour guide was fantastic and the restaurant by the El Cristo statue was by far the best food. We had the surf and turf. 4. Gaviolta tour agent was helpful for excursions The Bad: Room: 1. Do not pay for ocean view... All shrubs and trees are over grown and block 98% of the view. 2. There was NO hot water for showers all week long. That was for all the guests we talked too as well. 3. Fridge was only stocked one time for the entire week we stayed. By stocked i mean... 2 beers and 1 orange pop total 4. The sink leaked all week and by the end of the trip the AC broke and also leaked from the ceiling. Entertainment: 5. Shows were very amateur and seemed dis organized. Shows at 5 star hotels are usually much better. 1 show had teenagers that at the end of the routine ripped of there clothes to there under garments which seemed inappropriate and unnecessary especially givin' there age. Food: 6. Most of the food was terrible even for Cuba standards. I've been to Cuba 3 times now and this was the first time by far I have experienced this. 7. They ran out of food on a couple occasions leaving the only options deli meat which was ... smoked ham, boiled ham, fried ham ... You get the picture 8. A la carts were a huge disappointment other than the Japanese. No options and portions were so small we always ended up at the buffet to try and fill he gap. 9. The main gym had a leak and was closed. There was minimal equipment and space in the aerobic room as a result. 10. Paid over $200 for a couples massage and it was a waste of money. The message was terrible, unprofessional and tables were extremely uncomfortable. Overall, it was a huge disappointment and would not recommend staying here. Experience was so bad that it will be the last time we come to Cuba.

Some Problems

The staff at the resort were fantastic. However, there were some drawbacks. The room smelled very musty, the sink and bathtub barely drained and the 110 volt outlet in the bathroom didn’t work. We asked them to fix it but they did not. Also there were cockroaches in the buffet restaurant. The food was highly repetitive. The beach was strewn with seaweed. Bad Experience...

I liked the beaches and the resort lay out, but the food and the house keeping was a disaster...I lost 4 LB during 7 days trip. There was no customer service, bad attitude of staff, even though we were tipping every one of them that talked to us. There were COCKROCHES in the buffet going around the dishes, even we had a big one in our room that had to chase him out. They were not changing the towels daily, leave the same towel wet back on hanger and when we asked for a new one they sent u [... read more]s one that was old and smelt so bad that we air dried ourselves. Always short in the toilet papers, Bed sheets were stained and the plastic cover under the sheets were wrinkled which would make your body ache the whole day. The food was the worst of all, their meat even the chicken was so chewy and tasted so blanc. No Banana, Avocado. even their limited salads or veggies were offered had no sauce. Also, if you were not in the buffet within the first half hour some of the dishes go empty first without being refilled again. The other thing that really was bothersome that there were not enough dishes, we had to look around for 5 min to find a small dish to be able to take food every time. Never been so disappointed from the 50 all inclusive trip that I've been to until now.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar

The food at the buffet restaurant was vey clean specious and had numerous choices oif proteins, fruits and grains. Our room was large and spacious with a king size bed and very comfortable. Rooms were cleaned every day. 3 bottles of bottled water were provided everyday, and beers for the fridge. The resort grounds were well maintained. The hedges with vibrant blossoms of bright fushia flowers was very appealing. They had musical, dancing entertainment. Music played very d [... read more]ay at the pool. Access to the water was by gradual levels of walking in water, with few steps. There was transportation provided to and from the lobby and beach.

Wonderful Cuba!

The hotel staff were amazing! Food, so-so, but we knew that going in. The beaches and drinks and friendly staff made up for that! When you understand Cuba's economy it is hard to complain! We had a very relaxing, stress-free vacation and isn't that what it is all about!

Great resort when at the right season

Great facilities and willing staff but make sure you check if staff is not short during your stay because that will impact your wait times or availabilities of certain services Communication at the reception is not best

Beautiful resort

It was a lovely resort ,anything you asked for it was taken of ,our tap was broken in the bathroom no problem they came right up n fixed it ,the rooms were made up daily every one was so friendly,the meals were good but we could have used butter all week not just once ,but the bread was good and fresh didn’t really need butter ,would come back in a minute.

Great trip

Overall, we had a wonderful time. The beach is beautiful in the pool was great. You can tell that the Buildings are a little bit worn, but overall they look after the property amazingly. The only downfall I would say, is the food does get a little bit Mandane. But that is Cuba. If you’re going there for the food, then you found the wrong country. The people are fantastic and the staff are amazing. Overall I traded 9 1/2 out of 10.

Very nice resort

Entertainment team was great, Yaremin(I think that is how it is spelled) dis our pool activities, Yoga, stretching, cocktail classes. Dennis was a great teacher for the Dance lessons. A shout out to Ana and Rosa who also did some Drinks lessons and stretching. The nighty entertainment was great. Nahvi was a wonderful voice and very personable. Odennis at the Port Royal restaurant made the best drinks and was very helpful and always pleasant. Never had a problem finding food on the resort. Clean [... read more]ing staff kept washrooms very clean. The Havana tour was very good. Jo our tour guide was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about Cuba and the History. He gave us able time at each stop and was very accommodating to our questions.

Amazing resort

Everything was nice and clean except the washroom which needed some repairs Food was okay Drinks were phenomenal Service was exceptional Entertainment was very nice Pool was nice and clean Great activities

Beautiful resort

Very clean throughout the hotel. Restaurants, pools, washrooms, bars all clean. Alla Carte restaurants good. Buffet not so good. Service is excellent, front desk personal friendly and when help was required with different issues in our room they were rectified immediately!

Love the staff!

This was my 5th stay at this resort and what keeps me going back is the staff. We stayed on the Royal Service side (we we upgraded as repeat guests). The shortages in Cuba can be felt with the food selection. Although we were never hungry, the variety was lacking this year. We were happy to have Yusmila back at the resort, now at the Royal Service bar. We did have a butler and although he was good, he was not as attentive as some we have had in the past.

Diamond in the rough

Beach pool rooms all great. Food needs to be worked on and more drink choices, coffee not as good as I thought and no cream. Staff were amazing and friendly. Overall we had a great time!!! Would go back when things get straightened out after covid etc

Far below expectations :-(

I feel so sorry for the staff; they were out of almost everything and most of them were still working hard to make things work. Cuba needs to catch up: No butter all week, out of wine by 9pm most nights, no fish, no cheese most of the week, no sheets change all week, sheets were three twin staggered to cover our kingsize bed… the list goes on! Normally, I would not complain, but when you pay for 5 stars+, and get 3 stars -at best… it just hurts.¿Qué pasa, Cuba???

Paradisus

This resort is definitely not a five star resort more a two or three star. Food wasn’t great Choice of alcohol was very limited. First room we had had a lot of problems so we moved. The second room was a little better but a/c was so noisy we had to turn it off. The resort at one time was quite nice however it is becoming run down. Staff seem a little bit down as well probably because they bear the brunt of the complaints which is too bad because it is not their fault.

This resort was rated a 5 star but is really a 2 star.

We have been going to all inclusive resorts for over 40 years and this is the worst resort we have ever been to. Grounds need maintenance (exposed wiring, closed hot tubs, closed restaurant and bar. First rooms we were given were a 3rd, floor walk up that was old and smelly. We were moved to newer rooms after complaining. Food was terrible best meal of the day was an omelet for breakfast or a hot dog for lunch. Everything was either chicken or pork and casserole dishes. Bar service consiste [... read more]d of rum, beer and some vodka. Later in the week they brought in other types of liquor which quickly ran out. Beach was great and you could see it was once a beautiful resort. But it has terrible management. Paradisus is supposed to be a higher end resort in the Melia Group but we would never come back.

Not Quite What it Use to Be

We were at this resort 13 years ago & can honestly say we were very disappointed this time around. The Embargo & supply chain issues have negatively affected the resorts general maintenance . While the staff were great, the resort is showing it’s age. As travellers, we were not expecting the entire country to be suffering from a food shortage.
