Good resort

Stayed here twice before 2015-2016 resort needs some upgrading . food in buffet was not as good a-la carts hard to book property very clean rooms good staff friendly and attentive as always trip from air port very long app: 2-2 1/2 hrs. good holiday.

Very satisfied

Grand Bahia Principe Coba is the least luxurious of the the 4 Principe resorts on the same property, but it is by no means a low budget resort. The grounds are pretty well kept, the service very good (from the trams service to transport people to different areas, the bar and maid service, to the staff at the a la carte restaurants), and the food was good also. We  [... read more]ended up booking Hindu Thali, Mediterranean, and Italian restaurants. All were very good! Btw, the beef carpaccio at the Italian was amazing! Drinks were overall good, but top shelf beverages were not readily accessible. I’m sure the other 3 resorts on Bahia Principe, being more luxurious, would have had better liquor. While I do have a bit of a taste for better liquor, I couldn’t complain about what was served to me. And the house wines were quite alright also. The room was large enough, had a coffee maker, fridge, jet tub/shower, large vanity and hair dryer. There was a small round table and 2 chairs. There was also a couch in that area. The king bed was comfy and the ac kept up all too well! The drawbacks I saw were: the pools were ok, not spectacular. The beach was a real hike to get to, so most would take the tram. There was only 1 small bar available for Coba guests at the beach, and no restrooms or snack bars for Coba guests. None of this really disappointed us, as we just planned ahead for such. The entertainment was typical for a resort, but was of better variety. The performers were very talented, and genuinely wanted to please. As far as COVID theatrics go: a few of the staff and some patrons still show their “abundant caution” and wear masks, but for the most part it felt “back to normal”. There were no undue pressures on anybody to “conform”. It was a very happy, hospitable and respectful environment. Overall, I would definitely recommend this resort. Great experience for both the budget minded and those who appreciate quality amenities and service.

Value for money

The hotel is good value for money. The beach is non-existent (rocky, shallow, cannot really swim; must have water shoes) but there are two pools, weather is good and you can do some excursions. There are shows in the evening (inside the hotel, as well as outside; the hotel could do a better job to advertise them). Breakfast is from 7-11, omelettes are good, pastries could be improved. The safe in the room cannot be locked, bring your own lock for your suitcase. Don't forget a bottle of sunscreen. They sell it in the hotel, but the cheapest is 20 USD. AC can be a bit strong. All in all, I had a good stay.

Very good resort

I would give 4 star. Excellent restaurants, very good services by restautant staff. In buffet, vegetarian dishes is set right besides non-veg. and serving spoons are also shared. difficult for peoples with dietary restrictions. They should make a separate section for veggie

Great first experience

Great place to take your kids. My daughter loved the kids camp activities. Every day was filled with joy and peace of mind. Evening activities were very delightful. Food offered in the buffet caters to vegetarians, so this was big plus. Easy access to the Ocean and beach was great.

Amazing Resort!

This hotel is very nice, the grounds are so nicely kept, the rooms are cleaned daily the people working there are amazingly attentive, there’s a buffet where the food is excellent, there’s everything for everyone. Lots of drinks as well. We stayed 1 week and we were able to have 3 dinners at different restaurants, those restaurants are first rate. COVID-19 is present but not due to the hotel, we the clients bring COVID-19 so we must be vigilant and monitor symptoms. If you feel sick you’re [... read more] encouraged to stay in your room and they will bring you everything necessary to your room so you don’t spread the virus. To be honest though, most people that feel sick keep coming out of their rooms they prefer to keep quiet and keep enjoying their holiday. The plane back was full of sick people without wearing a mask. All and all we enjoyed our trip and we look forward to the next time we can go somewhere. Trip central is a really well run business I recommend it very much.

Great spot

This is our 3rd time at grand Bahia, everything is very clean , grounds are well kept, pools are immaculate, food at the buffets is great , it is a big resort with multiple hotels , but is easy to get around , with their Trollies , a la carte restaurants are great , the kids always love the Japanese show lounge dinner . Bahia Principe Coba

We have been to Coba 3 times. This time we found it to be a little neglected and run down it seems to have lost its charm it needs TLC IT IS STILL A NICE PLACE BUT I THINK COVID HAS BEEN HARD ON THEM

Sunny and hot as promised, but 7 days is plenty.

The resort is large and expansive but I do think they try to make the different resorts within the larger Bahia Principe property different levels of quality and they also treat the guest differently which can be frustrating. The Coba is the least renovated property and likely the least expensive. The lobby attendants try to convince you to sit for a presentation "not timeshare" and then proceed to try to sell you 30-40 weeks in the slightly more upscale resort "Tulum" I believe. Nothing seems t [... read more]o change in the 25-plus years I have been going to Mexico, but it is what it is. For the rooms: the rooms are clean, but showing their age as we had two rooms and one the A/C didn't work, and the other had a leak over the bathroom from either the AC unit or the bathroom above. The phone didn't work properly but they changed it out. The cable was cutting in and out but it worked for the most part. As for the food and restaurants, they are all ok. They give you three reservations and if you get the App beforehand, you should be able to book it. We tried the Japanese, Asian Fusion, and Le Gourmet and it was a nice change from the buffet. The buffet had a lot of selection, but the resort is large so it was quite busy at all times and there were some concerns about the cleanliness of the utensils and the cooks. Covid is definitely over in Mexico, so if you are a germophobe, you may want to book a less busy place. The entertainment is good, magic show, Beatles-themed show, but you have to be savvy and book ahead of time for the shows. Most of the staff try really hard. I am more concerned with Air Canada vacations, than the hotel as the communication for transfers to the Hotel and back from the Airport was poor and you really have to ask the "tour operator" for assistance to ensure you get a shuttle back to airport. Even when you get to Cancun, they allow time-share type salespeople to speak to you in the Airport pretending to be airport transfer information. The gov't should do something about this as it is frustrating after a long flight and you want to get to your hotel which is a 2-hour transport if you don't book privately. I am good for a Mexican holiday for another 4-5 years.

Great resort during the week, not on the weekend!!

Great resort if you have lower expectations. We arrived on a Friday and noticed that the resort was extremely busy. From what it seems the resort offers a great package for cheap to local people for 4 days. So from Thursday to Sunday it was unbelievably busy. You could not get any food from the buffet which was mediocre at best. Lines were extremely long. Not what we had expected for such a big resort. If you called concierge for more you were lucky if they showed up. All the Al la carte restaurants were amazing. We went to Teppanyaki, Italian and Mexican at Tulum which was amazing. The beach was amazing - a bit rocky - water shoes is a must but gorgeous beaches and during the week plenty of room to sit and same as the pool. During the week Monday - Wednesday was great Thursday-Sunday not so much. Overall we had a great time.

Peace in the sun

A beautiful peaceful place. It's an amazing place to spend a great time relaxing. The pool, the food, the service was incredible. The location is a bit far from the airport but it's worth all the drive.

Great Resort

Absolutely gorgeous, big well kept resort. Great food, and so much choices. The A la carts were so good and aging service at all four that I went to. Great staff, loved the coffee. Gorgeous pools. Lady who cleaned my room was great!! I can't wait to go back!!💖💖💖💖

Great first vacation!

The overall look and feel was just unbelievable! From the amazing service, to the accommodating staff, great look at feel, cleanliness and so forth, I definitely recommend. The food and drinks were also consistently great, just wish things like the pool and bars were open later.

Amazing Resort

We are booked in Bahia Prinsipe Coba the receptionist upgrade us to Bahia Prinsipe Sian Ka'an Luxury, it's amazing Resort, the stuff is very friendly and helpful, the room is clean the food is fabulous everyday are different, from breakfast to dinner the food is amazing We will come back next year with family and friends

Good Value

Have stayed at this resort in Dec 2019. Liked it very much and so decided to go there again. On the previous occasion, guests were able to enjoy lunch at their sister resorts nearby and Alcoholic drinks at the Bars but that has been discontinued. Some premium alcoholic drinks which were part of the All Inclusive package are now being charged extra. The resort was full at the time and there were guests of all ages ranging from Infants to Seniors, some even in wheelchairs.

Great time at the Coba

We just returned from the Bahia Principe Gran Coba and had a wonderful.time. We had no complaints about this resort. The room was clean, the food was great and the staff were wonderful. The only complaints we could have about the resort are that it is very large with alot of walking, and the beach area was not the greatest, but both of these things we knew about before we went. As far as Covid 19 concerns, they are very diligent on sanitizing the roomss and common areas and also strict on wearin [... read more]g masks in the restaurants, lobby and shopping areas. Which made us feel very comfortable and safe. The only legitimate complaint that we have about the entire trip is the length of travel time. Having to fly with a connecting flight through Toronto from Halifax and the 2+ hour bus ride fom the airport to the resort, made for a 14 hour day. We really only had 6 days at the resort because we didn't get there until after 6pm and had to leave again on the last day before 10am. Overall, this was a great trip. Our agent Robyn was great and Tripcentral made everything easy for booking and any request we had. I would definitely book again with them

Huge resort

The resort overall was nice. It’s very big, but easy to figure out once you are there. The rooms are clean, a bit dated as are most of the other buildings. I was disappointed that for a 7 day stay you can only book 3 a la cartes and there is no room service. The bus ride to the resort is very long as it stops at many other resorts and this one is the furthest- would recommend a private transfer. Also, there were no servers around the pools or beach area for drinks- had to get them yourself. Th [... read more]e beach area is very small with no food options, the area has a lot of rocks and coral- definitely need water shoes. The nighttime entertainment was really good with lots of variety. The staff are very nice, and helpful when they can be. There are shops located just a trolley ride away which was nice. There is also a doctor on-site which was great since I needed to visit after an unexpected incident happened. Overall the resort is nice, clean, good food, god drinks and very nice staff.

Resort was awesome

Dining great rooms were great shopping was close and affordable the jewelry shop was perfect pools were good didn’t really like the beach but we totally adapted lol too far from the airport but agian we adapted

Amazing resort
