Love This Resort

This is an extremely fun resort. The food this year was even better than last year. Our bungalow was centrally located with a beautiful view of the ocean. The staff at this resort are just fabulous. They really try to make you feel at home. We will definitely go back next year. We met many great people there that we now view as friends.

Spacious beach areas, very peaceful resort

The "bungalows" are set in a spacious parklike landscape, some of them close to the beach and others closer to the road. Not true bungalows (grouped as 4 or 5 units) but each has a porch facing north or south. Interiors are very clean and well decorated. Bathrooms have very good features, although the shower head can be very loose and hot water isn't always available. Air conditioning is quiet and high up. Dining room is spacious and bright and the food serving areas are well thought out. Fruit  [... read more]and juice bar, 2 grills staffed and many choices (fishes, pork, liver, etc) along with great fried chicken, etc. And lots of different salad items. PLUS many breads and desserts, including ice cream! Food never really ran out and the staff are VERY helpful! There are only 2 bars (lobby and pool) and they are on each side of the grounds but we never felt without. Oh there is a small really friendly beach bar! The swimming pool is terrific and very clean. Beach is huge but if you want to go into the water the coral is not far away, sometimes large coral rocks right in water's edge. We found that the weather can be very changeable in January plus Man O' War jellyfish can appear anytime. But you can easily go for a walk to local farms and restaurants. Havana is only 1 hour by taxi and really easy to see! Or go to Matanzas for a change! They don't have bicycles which is too bad, but you can get a horse for a scenic ride!

The food was not bad for Cuba, but would have been better if it were hot instead of just barely warm The staff is great the very nice always smiling and happy. This is my 4th time at this resort. I had a bad experience last year because their tractor was broken and they couldn't clean the beach. but I thought I'd give it another try. It was worse! Making it almost impossible to even go for a walk on the beach. Our room had an extreme amount of black mold. Not only on the bathroom ceiling but on the bedroom walls, ceiling and in the closet as well. However we decided to just deal with it, after all it's only one week. It rained most of the time we were there. Oh will, you can't do anything about the wheather. But on the 3rd night we were in our room watching netflix when we noticed a horrible smell. We got up to see what the smell was and much to our suprize the sewer had backed up and was running out of the bathroom, across the floor and out the front door of our room. Needless to say They put us in a different room. Which was very nice clean and had no mold. So as the old saying goes Once bitten, twice shy.

Nice old resort - Amazing Snorkeling

The resort was built in 1958 and looks it's age. Despite that its still very nice. the layout of the property is very open and quite. Perfect space!

Marked as 3 star probably only due to lack of amenities compared to memories next door, we had a great time! The beach is amazing! The staff equally amazing and the proximity to Havana was a plus. A few tips - Private tours were way more affordable. Bring snack items like nuts and granola bars for sure. Food isn't overly great. Bring snorkeling gear. 5 star rating from me!

Rustic, beautiful - la vida simple!

Genuinely had a fantastic stay at Villas Jibacoa with my friend (and new ones made while there!) 100% would come back. Perfect base to explore the Matanzas area and equidistant between Varadero and Havana. Easy snorkelling from the beach, free catamaran for each guest once per stay, hiking, birds, and super friendly staff. Bring a reusable straw and beer mug with a handle. Quiet and peaceful

Relaxing vacation in Jibacoa. The buffet is small and somewhat repetitive but there's always something to eat. Enjoyed the snack bar and the staff are always pleasant and smiling! Enjoyed the snorkeling and hike to the top of the hill - great lookout!

For that price bather them perfect

price - very god accommodation - old but clean and reasonable good shape food - large variety but sometime not well done (pork and beef hard to eat). Butter and ice creme more them perfect and we will remember long time. people - from services friendly and helpful beech - nlce sand but to much garbage

Great Vacation.

Had a wonderful vacation Jan. 5 to 12. We had visited Villa Jibacoa 3 years ago and hotel has improved in that time. Pool was very nice, rooms clean and food and drinks was very good. Food was greatly improved at pool bar. Lots of lounge chairs at pool. Only con was that although lots of lounge chairs on beach most were in bad shape, cracked and missing arms. The draw for us was the reef close to shore, but due to winds and jelly fish only got 1 day of snorkeling in. Did not see any shows which they had every night. Very relaxing and quiet not a party place, staff and other quest were very friendly. If your looking for a quiet vacation this is the spot.

A good bang for your buck

This was our third time in Cuba and overall the room,beach, pool, cleanliness, friendly staff, and food were all good for the price. Many we spoke to were regular visitors. Beautiful relaxing week! :)

Nice resort

Clean, relaxing, everyone is nice. I know that Cuba is struggling, so i didnt mind giving away all my clothes etc. But i found out i paid $800 more than someone with a beachfront room. Also the food was not ok.

Amazing Vacation!

Travelled with my wife for a second time to Villas Jibacoa and so glad we did! Everything from the service, food and location was excellent! Cant wait until our next visit to our home away from home! p.s this is a great place for snorkelling!

Jewal in Cuba.

Small resort with beautiful grounds. Staff is very friendly. I am returning customer and feel like I am coming home. If you get there you have to try amazing Spanish coffee that is best made by Rudi. Recomend the resort to people that need time to rest without a lot of people around and with average expectations regarding food.

Our favorite

Love this place! Low key and relaxing. The staff are amazing, the beach is gorgeous. Our vacation destination of choice, year after year. Highly recommend this resort if you are looking for peace and quiet relaxation.

Cuba Hot!

A perfect week! We had a delay in leaving, mechanical issues with plane. Not fixable! Air Transat gave us food vouchers and a $200.00 future travel voucher for our delay. We ended up leaving 12 hours late! (Going back in October for my birthday). This will be trip number 20?? to this beautiful little resort. I can't say enough about the staff, always friendly and welcoming. We stayed in an ocean facing bungalow near the pool. Room was clean. Food was better than in the past. A good varie [... read more]ty, even at dinner. Amazing for travelling in the low season! The pool area was cleaned mid day of garbage by the maintenance staff. Many quests do not pick up after themselves which I find disgusting.... all in all... a great week.

Hidden gem

This resort is a hidden gem nestled in this little mountain side town called Santa Cruz. I went there with my daughter june 4-11. We had amazing views of the ocean with a white sand beach. We went there with no expectations or knowledge of Cuba and was greeting with a friendly smile by all of the locals. We felt very safe during our stay and had no troubles leaving the resort. The resort offered a wide variety of water sports and paddle boats. I highly recommend this resort for a cheap getaway but not in the high end side of that is what you are looking for.

Villas Jibacoa review

We had another relaxing visit to Villas Jibacoa. The staff were a highlight of the resort. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The grounds were constantly being attended to by the gardeners. We plan to go back again next year and would like to arrange our trip with Tripcentral again because of the good service. Thank you.

It's a 3 star....don't kid yourself

This is a 3 star resort, bear in mind before booking. Positives: The grounds are lovely, winding walkways, mature trees and everything is within close proximity. The rooms are basic but sound proof. The mature trees are lovely, providing lots of natural shade on the beach and a ton of avian wild life to watch in the evening from your front porch. The sidewalks roll up at 10 and there is no night life to speak of, which is a bonus for us. The beach is lovely, very tranquil, very peaceful, lot [... read more]s of space, no need to secure a chair first thing in the morning, there are spots available all day. The snorkeling is lovely, lots to see. Negatives: The food is horrific. Bring lots of snacks and plan to eat off resort at a "casa particulare" at least a couple of times. You will find lots of recommendations from any staff member. The "a la carte" is a joke. Beware what you order, it will not be what is listed on the menu. Stick to the burger if you can. Keep the two water bottles they give you when you check in. You will not get another and they will grudgingly fill it for you at the bar for a tip. The staff are rude, but still expect tips for service they are not providing. Most days at the buffet, we had to find our own place mats, napkins, cutlery, glasses and pour our own water. They still expected to be tipped. The rooms have no alarm clock, no phone to call the desk, no facecloths. The maid will sweep the room and make the bed. The sheets will not be changed and they don't clean the bathrooms, nor replace shampoo or soap. If you use it up, too bad. It took us three days to get toilet paper and I took it off the maids cart. The beds are hard and the pillow like pancakes. Summary: We knew it was a 3 star going in but we were shocked by the food still. If you stick to pasta, rice, bread ( which is extra good) and ice cream, you will not starve. We had friends with us that only travel to Cuba and they LOVED everything about the resort and plan to return next year for 2 weeks. Everyone else at the resort were returning regulars, some for as long as 50 years. So I think it is the peacefulness of the resort. It did appeal to us but unfortunately we love to eat and we did not get to do that. Would we return...... I am of two minds about that still.

Not amazing resort.

Food was terrible Beach was never cleaned. Practically unusable. Grounds and room was passable. Staff catered to local guests before tourists at the bar and buffet. If I am in a line first I do not expect them to wait on me second. Totally Unacceptable !

Great Time

Loved this resort, the grounds were beautiful. It was exactly what we wanted, small, friendly staff, quiet and good beach with lots of lounges. Would recommend staying in a bungalow. Food was good..
