Great vacation

Jamaica has always been on my bucket list, and this resort certainly did not disappoint. The food was amazing, always a different selection in the Buffet, awesome people & bars. Special shout out to Nicola & Abel from the entertainment. Romario & Colin were the best bartenders. Always making amazing drinks with a lot of fun & smiles. The jerk chicken lunch bar on the beach was delicious. My room was kept very clean, a big thank you to Shanita. The small fridge was re-stocked daily. Clean resort and great for kids!

Was nervous about the negative reviews about the hotel - yes the resort does need upgrades in the halls, elevators and rooms but our stay was 10/10. Great weather (no bugs at night), good food (you go there for the Jamaican food), amazing activities for the kids, amazing staff and very well maintained grounds (there were always crew power washing walls or floors). Make sure you download the app so you can always be in the know of events for the time you're there!

Bahia Jamaica

Big property that does many things well. Stayed there 15 years ago when it was near nee and the elevator did not work. 16 years latter now and the elevator serving building 23 did not work. It has at least doubled in size since the original stay. It is one of they few hotels of this size that does not provide a map to the room(many other guests were wandering around trying to either find their way to their room or back to their room. The beach bar ran out of frozen drinks the first hour on the beach (and many of the bars had the same issue). They put a lot of time and effort trying to sell you a “privilege “ club membership to get the treatment you should already get as a guest. They had many poll areas you couldn’t go to without the 25k membership. And no clear idea where it started and stopped in the pool area. Weather was great a lot of good staff just too bad they seem to think the quest to suck people into the expensive club was their focus

Beautiful resort

The grounds at Bahia Principe Jamaica are well maintained and kept very clean. It was a pleasure looking out of our balcony and seeing the beautiful greenery of the grass, trees and shrubs. Our room had enough towels and we never had to ask for anything extra. There was a large variety of food to satisfy anyone and enough room in the dining area and outside restaurants. We only tried the a la carte Italiana restaurant and it was not very good. The service was excellent but the food was cold a [... read more]nd was still cold after the waiter took it back to warm it up. We ended up leaving and going to the buffet. We didn’t try other a la carte restaurants because it was very hard to get a reservation. All in all it is a beautiful resort and I would definitely recommend it. The staff is very friendly.

Very nice family resort

First off, thank you Carol for being so pleasant, patient and so helpful over the phone. What you said about the Bahia Principe Grande was pretty much bang on. Nice resort, clean room, mostly pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. Lots of entertainment and activities to keep you busy if you want to immerse yourself in the Jamaican/Caribbean vibe. Loved the "hidden gem" of the Bahia Market Village Square at one end of complex. Intimate entertainment setting and and nice shops.I call it a hidden ge [... read more]m mostly because it wasn't advertised or promoted very well. Found out about this area almost by accident. Complaints, after a very good "white dress party" on the beach, loud DJ music kept up until after 1am. This was well after the party was basically over. Music was so loud I could not sleep. I thought this was excessive and not conducive to the heavy family dynamic there. Other than that, 7 days well spent with near perfect weather.

Great vacation

The hotel was as described (a 4+ star). The rooms were clean and well maintained. The grounds were beautiful. The staff was friendly. We wandered around the resort quite a bit (it's a big place) and noticed that certain areas and floors were being renovated and you can tell they are constantly fixing and updating things.

Beautiful Resort

We found the hotel to be very clean, the grounds were kept very well. You can tell that they are working to improve and update their facilities. Our room was always clean and tidy and we had facecloths and towels. I requested 2 extra towels and received them daily during our stay. The minibar was always restocked. The buffet was good, always lots of choices. I noticed that there were managers in the buffet area that kept an eye on utensils, to ensure that things were kept clean. Staff were fri [... read more]endly. We like cream in our coffee but there was no cream available at all at this resort, which was disappointing. The beach areas were kept well, the west beach was our favorite but care must taken to walk in where it is not so rocky. Beach bars were well stocked and there was jerk chicken and pork and extras available at the west beach during lunch time, if you didn't want to leave the beach to go to the restaurant.

Bahia Principe Grand Experience

My stay at the Grand was a nice relaxing experience. They have entertainment daily for the whole family. Tiffany and her entertainment crew was rememberable. Many of the servers were friendly. Some acted odd due the expectation of tips. Race may have played a role in service as we are black and Jamaican decent, but I chose not to allow those interactions to skew my viewpoint on my experience. Exceptional hotel and service!

This hotel is very well located close to many optional excursions. We had booked a sea view and was placed in a garden view room. After calling the reception desk they quickly changed our room on the 5th floor where we could view the sea, the children's park, the bay and the sunset. It was Wow! I didn't know how much the view can make a difference in your vacation package. We were impressed with the layout of the hotel, even though it's a large hotel we were situated close to all amenities, l [... read more]obby, beach, pool, restaurants. We loved this feature. We still had our 10K steps per day! :) The food was excellent - a lot of variety, 6 a la carte restaurants, where you can book 3 of them during your week. I am usually a little ill eating the food in the Caribbean - but not there! The service was excellent. Always greeted with a smile. Cons - and not really: they have the prestigious club - where personnel approach you and want you to attend a special session. We didn't get into that trap. Although that being said they did not hound us and pressure us like in the past like other places. Another con would be that the bed was a little hard for my personal liking. I would recommend this place to my friends. Nice venue for a wedding without worrying about your photos being bombed.

Great Stay at Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica

Clean and comfortable stay! Staff was friendly and fun. Lots of chairs at the pool and beach. Food selection and quality was good at the buffet. Drinks were great. Room was clean; housekeeping came early every day! Large resort but very easy to navigate. Evening music/games and Saturday evening beach party but sadly no shows.

Beautiful resort

The resort is beautiful and very large, the staff are friendly and food was great overall it was wonderful. The only problem our time was short. Love it love it. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have some fun in the 🌞 sun

Great resort

Great customer service, The Knife and Brazillian restaurant were top notch. Seeing as how Appleton Rum is distilled in Jamaica I disagree with the upcharge per drink as it's not top shelf. Found this to be disappointing as it was unexpected.

Never going back to Bahia Principe Grand

If you're not a VIP your treated like a commoner. We had a watch stolen from our room and they acted like it was no big deal. Have emailed them twice regarding the case and still no responce. The food was horrible at the buffet, went to one a la cart took over two hours to receive our food. The only good thing was the beach and pool .

Horrible!!!!!

the first room they put us in was being renovated with dirty mattress (I have pics to prove it), the front desk never answered room service calls but they did call the last day before check put to seen if i needed anything. the carpets looks like they have never been cleaned. oh and to top ot off the air canada rep was so rude and not helpful at all.

Enjoyed our stay

Very clean! Awesome rooms! Family friendly. Did NOT know you can only eat in a restaurant only 3 times in your 7 night stay! We were stuck Having to eat from the buffet 4 nights eating the same foods. The staff always made you feel like You had to tip.

Amazing resort. Will be returning.

Had a wonderful experience with every Staff member we incountered. We used the hotel for one day of excursions and a private driver for another day of excursions. Elevators were on and off. Lots of stairs to get to top floor. Al la carts were amazing. Buffets were amazing. Beach was beautiful. Upgraded to luxury day pass for the last 2 days. Their staff is miserable except at the al la carts. There's an extra flight of stairs to climb if elevators aren't working. Drinks are very light. Pools are [... read more] shady. Very quiet. More for the older generation. God forbid you smoke a doobie on luxury side lol. The beach is small af. Their buffet sucked. No outdoor buffet there so people who have rooms there have to walk to grand side. Grand side entertainment is better. The entertainment crew was absolutely amazing. Particularly Tiffany and tt and kedar. Denzel at the pool bar grand side is amazing. Fabian is the best bellhop. I got stung by a bee and. I'm allergic. He turned a golf cart into an ambulance to bring me to the nurse. Had a wonderful experience with her and she took good care of me. Ended up not having to go to the hospital thank God. Overall good experience. Stay on the grand side not luxury. Our view on the grand side was beautiful. Block 11. Food 10/10 Staff 10/10 Excursions 10/10 Drinks 10/10 Wine 10/10 Nurse10/10 Luxury 2/10

Nice Family Getaway

The resort is a beautiful property about an hour away from the airport, so brace yourself for the ride. The pool and beach were amazing and beautiful. Property is clean and well maintained. Friendly staff. I was glad to see the hotel being painted during my stay. Would recommend upgrading the bathrooms. Food was good, enough variety for everyone. Didn’t notice any COVID restrictions, however, hand hygiene required before going into the main dining room and restaurants.

Great resort with friendly staff

A plethora of activities to choose from in a safe and well groomed facility. I am grateful for Mr. Graham' (from tripcentral) recommendation. The ambience was fantastic and lots of dining choices. This location will be on my vacation inventory for the future

3* Hotel

I was at this about 1 year prior to the start of COVID. At that Time I gave it a 4* rating. RE this trip. the staff were still wonderful, friendly, helpful and courteous. The room was clean and spacious. However, things like wash cloths and bathmats were provided only when asked for and were not always available(no fault of the staff). All services were provided on a bare minimum basis. Now that I am 5 years older than when I was last at the resort, there re certain areas that should be addres [... read more]sed to ensure the safety of seniors. the toilet bowl is so low that a senior of my height and age had extreme difficulty using it. Having a grab bar in that area and in the shower stall would make people of my age feel much safer and would reduce the risk of falls.

Apathetic staff. We won't return here

The service a this hotel is so poor. We would not ever consider returning there after our experience. The front desk staff are very rude and seem annoyed if a guest asks them anything at all. There were always a line up of angry customers at the front desk. The front desk staff were apathetic and did not seem to enjoy being there at all. Anything that a guest would ask them was met with disdain. The housekeeping staff were friendly and our room was cleaned daily. When we asked for extra towel [... read more]s or shampoo it was no problem and the ladies were always smiling and polite. The buffet restaurants were dirty and kept running out of plates. The waitstaff there seemed stressed and angry. Wait times were excessive. The "Knife" steakhouse restaurant had the absolute worst service and many tables got up and left the restaurant in the middle of the meal. We spoke to the manager and he said that many tables were complaining and he was sorry and would send an email to his boss. The tapinaki restaurant was very good. The food and the service were great. The beach was lovely. The room was comfortable but the toilet ran non-stop the entire trip and the air conditioner did not work properly.
