Amazing Value

Great Value at that price point. 4-5 Star dining, great new rooms at the Palace and the Adult Pool was great. It was paradise every day, met lots of great people, I was single but it did not matter. It would also be a great family vacation.

The truth and nothing but ...

First of all don't fly Air Canada Rouge. The seats were very uncomfortable. Compared to Air Transat is far superior. I thought when we were booking from agency that they would have first hand knowledge about the resorts condition. Let's say they was so much seaweed it was unbearable to swim and the smell was so awful. I was very disappointed because the conditions where like that for over 4 weeks. We should have been notified before booking. Also we had some issues with the room. Fir [... read more]st of all the phone was broken, the bar fridge wasn't working. No hot shower on two occasions. Also the sinks wouldn't drain and if you turn on the tap the water would spray out of the sink. We saw a bug that looked like a cockroach. The resort failed to tell us how to book for the restuarants. I also had a medical emergency and went to hospital. The resort /management never asked how I was feeling or if I was ok . Just on that premises I would not recommend this resort.

Not a 5 stars, not for couples.

We have been to many all inclusive such as DR, Mexico 4 times, Cuba, st-Lucia, Antigua, Hawaii etc... we have been to the barcelo maya caribe which is part of this barcelo palace resort. It is also part of 3 other barcelo but they cannot use the palace’s facility but if you are at the palace you can use all other resort as you wish. Nothing there for couples. This whole resort is catering to families. The few couples we seen there appeared a bit disappointed as you are surrounded with toddlers with temper tantrum throughout the day and night. Parents today don’t seem to understand how to raise kids. They take them to the pool at 7-8 am and by 5-6 pm, the kids are drained, tired and pissy. Then the parents want to go to a nice dinner but since they don’t Have babysitters, they take the kids to fancy dinners and then some even take them to the shows at 8:30-9:30 till 11 pm. At which point the kids are screaming, crying and you get the just. The buffet is the worst I have ever had. Mexico and can’t find any guacamole or salsa anywhere at this resort. Food was weird and mediocre at best. A la cartel are a different story. Great. The shows...what a farce. Don’t waste your time in there. Once you find a seat amongst all the strollers everywhere, you’ll be disappointed. The pools are nice and well maintained. The main one is huge. The one pool is adults only but only has 30 loungers so you gotta get there pretty early. I don’t understand how trip central and all the airlines can advertise this place as a 5 star. We’ve been to many 5 stars and not even close. The grounds are 4.5 at most and the food when you consider the buffet is not close to 5 stars. Maybe a 3-3.5. Rooms where musty and damp the whole week, they never replaced the fridge after 3 request as it did not cold anything. It takes a lot to make it to a 5 star rating and this place doesn’t have it in our opinion. If you are a family with kids, you’ll enjoy this place as there is a lot to do there but if you are a couple looking for some romantic all inclusive, this is not for you. Go somewhere else.

Great resort

Haley from trip central was amazing, very professional and super pleasant! She was so helpful to book a great trip! She is the best!!! The hotel had Great food and service! The rooms are nice with great cleaning service. This is a very big resort so there is a lot of Walking but the grounds are impeccable. There is a lot of activities to do for all ages!

Wonderful vacation resort

The Barcelo Maya Palace is a wonderful resort. The staff is friendly & always smiling. The food was first rate. I tried many different drinks that I thoroughly enjoyed. The on sight shopping was very good. Our tour guides to Tulum & Playa Del Carmen were fun & informative. The rooms & the whole complex were clean & well kept. We would certainly consider returning for another fun filled vacation. The only down point is that people reserve the lounges by the pool early in the morning (7am) so t [... read more]hat there were no lounges available when we came out later. Most of these lounges were not occupied most of the day.

A great family vacation place!

We went with our one-year-old and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out! The grounds were easy to navigate, the dining was exceptional, and the staff took great care of all our needs (Thanks, Juan Carlos, Carlos Santiz, Leyli Gomez, and Esmeralda Jimenez!). We loved the intimacy and privacy that the Palace offered and the dining options kept us entertained and full every night! Our little guy loved the kids park and the adult pool which he floated around in every day!

Absolutely Amazing Resort!

Our travel agent, Karol Chareza has been telling us about this amazing resort and how awesome it is for years. We finally got to see it for ourselves. My family and I stayed at the Barceló Maya Palace for 10 days in January 2019. It was everything my family and I expected and more. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We had fresh towels each day and the in room bar fridge was stocked daily with drinks and snacks. The PEOPLE that work at this resort are over the top amazing. Very happy to help and always greeting you with a smile. We ate at the Marenostrum were we met two terrific guys, Mario and Antonio. They were the best. They made us a Mayan Coffee. What a show that was and the coffee tasted amazing! We also met Nelson at the Brasserier. He takes service to a whole new level. He made sure we were enjoying the food, drinks and atmosphere. He took the time to talk with us and gave us tips about the report so we didn't miss out on the events around the resort. These are just a few guys that helped to make this trip more amazing. All the employees were over the top amazing! We really enjoyed the beach. The sea turtle were right there and we swam with them each day and really enjoyed feeding them bananas. The pools were a tad on the cold side, so we mostly hung out at the beach. We enjoyed every minute. We also swam with the Dolphins that were right there at the resort. Very convenient. We did a day tour to Cozumel. Booking this trip was seamless. The resort travel group took care of everything. We were picked up and dropped off on time. This resort had everything you needed. There was a mall on site, a bowling ally, lost of shops around to purchase any souvenirs and you did not have to walk far to get to everything. There was a bus that went to each resort all day so you could get around very quickly. This was my family's fist tropical trip together and we are already planning to return. It was so much fun and we would recommend this resort to all our friends. Thank you Karol for helping us set up this amazing trip. You always know how to send us to the best places. :)

Something for everyone

We stayed here around 12 years ago and we wanted to return to relive some memories. We stayed at the Palace in a Premium room. The service overall was friendly. Breakfast service is spotty but not unusual for all inclusives in Mexico. Getting your coffee how you ask or even at all is 50/50 at the most. Luckily you can serve yourselves at the multiple coffee machines in the buffet area. The outdoor seating for breakfast is very nice. Lots of hammacks Great snorkeling on site with friendly fishes and turtles. We will likely return. The numerous kid waterparks are calling for our kids to come next time.

Great trip!!

The hotel was great!! The staff were amazing!! The grounds were beautiful. I did find the time after dinner to be kind of burning. We are not into shows so maybe an outdoor bar for drinks and music would go a long way. Would definitely go back! Thanks for the recommendation.

Great resort

Amazing resort - less than amazing service

Great resort, it's beautiful, it's amazing, it's what I imagine paradise looks like. However, front desk staff are confrontational, forcing you to take a room you didn't pay for. You're given information at check-in then arguing with you at checkout that what you expect isn't the norm.

Marvellous Resort

We stayed at the Palace. Everything was spotlessly clean, rooms were luxurious and the food was great, even the buffet. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only drawback was the piped piano music. It was classical music, played way too loud and everywhere.

Would Return Again!

Stayed here for 5 days with my 14 year old son. Reception went well. Rooms were very clean and stocked every day. Pool was huge and the sea was beautiful. The buffets were very good and loved the resturants! The Rodizio was our favorite. We went there 2 times. Clean resort and nice staff.

Paradise!

This resort was my first down south and it has set bar so high, I can't imagine any other measuring up. The staff were friendly and most spoke excellent English. There is an army of them to take care of guests. The resort is large but you never had to leave your section if you didn't want to. If you did desire it but didn't want to walk, you could take the double decker red bus that came by ever 15 minutes. The food was delicious. The beaches were golden and rarely super busy. Still our favourite

We just returned from a week at the Barceló Maya Palace. We had stayed here the first year the Palace opened & we were pleased that not much has changed. Grounds are beautiful, beach is lovely although a seaweed problem is plaguing the entire Caribbean. Has a problem with a leaking fridge which we mentioned to the fellow who delivered our luggage & he immediately got on the phone to have it addressed. Within 30 minutes another person arrived & had it working perfectly. Rain shower was great  [... read more]particularly when the shower in the tub did not work (we didn't care). Rooms getting a bit worn around the edges but still very nice & clean. Mattress & bedding was very good & A/C more than sufficient. Loved the buffet & actually cancelled reservations for the a la carte restaurants we had booked. The gym is by far the best gym we have experienced at a resort. We will be back again next year! One complaint....slow check-in but we were okay with it.

Great Resort

We had a great family vacation, there were a lot of activities for kids plus the biggest pool we’ve ever seen! I would describe the food as good, not great and ditto for the beverages. I would definitely go back with kids, not sure I would for an adult only vacation.

Great resort with a few flaws.

This hotel was beautiful, clean and very well groomed grounds. The service staff were very attentive, friendly and polite. The specialty restaurants provided excellent food and selection. On the negative side, we were very disappointed with: 1.) The buffet food. Although there was a good variety for both breakfast and lunch, any foods that were not specifically ordered and cooked on a grill were cold, when they should have been hot. 2.) The beach. We loved the fact that we could  [... read more]snorkel from the beach and that it contained coral reefs, however, the shore was stony and following a windy day with wave action, there was a great deal of weed on the beach which was not cleared for several days. 3.) Adult only pool was wonderful but often didn't have enough chairs for the guest demand. 4.) It was unfortunate that the entertainment did not commence until after 10:00 p.m. which we found late after a full day of activities in the sun.

Had a fantastic time at an amazing resort!!

The grounds were so clean and beautiful!! The staff was pleasent and very helpful!! Was nice that we had access to all of the resorts on the strip and went from one to the other and so on. The food was great at all the buffets and the a la carte restaurants we excellent!!! The rooms were spacious and welcoming

Awesome resort

the hotel and all the are awesome, so beautiful. Had a really relaxing vacation at the beach and pool with my daughter and her family .Great food and entertainment everything was fabulous. The pool was great although people would put their towels on the chairs early and you would not get enough chairs to sit together. There was not enough shade at the pool was very hot at times .

Best location

Resort is good, very clean everywhere but with evarage service Prices in resort stores just out of mind. Service stuff is not really welcoming. Always looking for tips without doing a good jobs. Show level is really low and it is kind of boring atmosphere
