The resort is beautiful, the pools are large and each one has good features, bubbling lounges or jacquzi , swim up bar and love the adults only, very quiet and the kiddi pool. The lounges need replacing alot of them are worn out. It was very nice that the waiter would take your drink order right at your chair. The beach was ok, not the blue that I like but oh well! All the alacarts were very good, the Asian was my favourite. The buffet was great for breakfast. Loved Mikes coffee shop, great cappi[... read more]cinos and tastey treats. Route 66 decor is cool. Blue Moon romantic is a smaller cozy place for couples. All the drinks were good, Mimosas for breakfast every morning! The shows were excellent, enjoyed the lobby bar as well. Rooms were nice however it rained alot at night and we had water coming into the closet on the third floor so we moved to a different room. The beds are hard and not very comfortable, they need new mattresses as both rooms were the same, the maids did a good job. Good sound proof in rooms didnt hear anybody else. A nice touch was a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries in our room for our anniversary thanks

Good resort, disappointing restaurants
Having previously enjoyed a vacation at this hotel, after coming out of an extensive surgery 7 months ago we chose to meet some good friends here.
The hotel is super clean, the grounds are immaculate, the four pools cater for everyone, or so I thought until one afternoon they decided to bring the party pool to the adults only "quiet" pool, this was not well recieved by the adult pool regular visitors. The buffet restaurant is quite good, the selection is extensive and in the main the service i[... read more]s fine save for a few offhand attitudes. Of the five restaurants we tried two were excellent, Sensei, the teppanyaki experience is well worth a visit, excellent service. Villa Marina, the steak house is also very good both for food and service. The crepery by the adult pool aspires to be something special, it is not although the bar service to those by the pool is very good. The Blue Moon "romantic dining" is anything but. Large loud tables and offhand service spoiled the experience, food was mediocre at best. The terrace Italian is a complete disaster, cooking at the table appeals to vacationers and it was mostly full but the food was terrible, as was the service, they served a 'dead' clam, the tortellini was hard rolls of 95% pasta, the spin inch and feta was really hard to find and harder to taste, two of us had carbonara so naturally it was cooked together however when it came to the plating 80% of the bacon was on one plate.
The service provided by the lobby bar staff is second to non, Angelise and Manuela are exceptional waitresses, the bar men, sorry I don't remember their names were also very good. Carlos made our coffee at the bar each morning and he is exceptional also, a very pleasant young man always eager to please.
Ou vacation was a success because of the company of our great friends and our reluctance to let the disappointments spoil it.

Fun week
This resort has exceeded my expectations. I was pleasantly suprised by the amount of good food I get to eat there. Most of the staffs are very pleasant and courteous. Rooms are clean all the time. Only downside was couple of staff at the lobby have promotions that they need to sell and it was tiring when you have just arrived from long airplane ride. Also the beach wasn't as gorgeous as you would want to be (Can't do anything since it's nature).

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at
From the moment we entered the hotel we were inundated by high pressure sales staff. They were demanding we take a tour of the facility because they wanted to sell us a timeshare thing
At the beach t he hotel staff followed us and again demanding we buy time in their spa.
When we were forced to agree to spend time in the spa, just to get them off our back.
We didn't go, but at checkout the hotel staff would not open the gate to let us out until we paid them $100
They kept us hostage

Fantastic staff!
With my boyfriend we stayed at this hotel for a full week. The only thing that was unclear to us was the transport from the airport to the hotel and we almost booked our own, the hotel provides one but from the many emails we were sent not even one mentioned that. When we arrived at the hotel, amazing staff members took great care of us while we waited to be checked in. The only downside is the fact that we landed at 11, so we had to wait for 3h in extreme humidity and heat to be able to get to [... read more]our room and shower – but that’s understandable, most places have check in at 3pm. We decided to upgrade ourselves to 1st level of privilege (additional 500USD for the entire stay with access to a bar and restaurants that were opened from 7am, unlike the normal bar that opened at 10am till 1am). We got a beautiful, clean and spacious room, quite far from the main pool that tends to be loud, but the downside of the location was that we were almost alone in the whole building so all the nature (15cm long grasshoppers and racoon families) had their peace disturbed only by us. I am personally afraid of all insects, but the only impossible to bear for me were the gigantic grasshoppers that would fly in your direction which scared the living hell out of me. We asked to have rooms changed and that was not a problem to the staff that understood the issue well (special shout out to Sam who was an amazing help). The new room we got had a great view of the main pool and even though it was a slight downgrade, we appreciated having neighbours. The food in the privileged restaurant was completely not for me (as a vegetarian), overly complicated and completely forced combinations only made my stay for the first two days miserable. But then we discovered the Caribbean buffet, both breakfasts and dinners were incredible. Amazing variety and ease to pick whatever one desires. All the other restaurants were great too, my boyfriend especially loved the Italian restaurant and the incredible steak he got there. Food wise only downside is that all restaurants open at 6pm and close at 10pm, after that only one awful diner is opened till 6:30am. For non-privileged guests’ breakfast was available from 9am I believe, those guests also had to queue for the busier restaurants. For many the lack of snacks in rooms (unless purchased in the extremely overpriced giftshop) and lack of the possibility to get any food to your room can be seen as very annoying (I was sick one night and I was unable to receive anything other than room service). Speaking of room service, it is available only from 11am till 11pm, after that you must pay astounding amounts for subpar food. When it came to the open bar, we were positively surprised that there were not that many crazy drunk people, which is a bonus.
We booked an all-day trip with AirCanada’s rep, the trip itself was not too expensive considering what was included in the package (Mayan Ruins and Rio Secreto caves – 150% recommend, amazing experience). The biggest issue and sth that angered us was the fact, that we were told to get water shoes for the trip which was an expense of 60 USD in the gift shop. It turns out the shoes were available for free by the caves. That expense made the trip less affordable and made us feel like we were taken advantage of. As a young working couple, we did not think that was fair. The trip itself was 300USD for 2 people and that additional 60 was a big rise.
What I would like to add is that the staff deserves a special thanks, I have never met nicer and friendlier people, they remember you and issues you may have had. Same for waiters and bar staff, entertaining us with stories and really trying to make our stay as nice as possible, which is something they did not have to do.
Overall I think I would recommend the hotel regardless as we had a splendid time and even though the weather was supposed to be bad (rain, storms, clouds), we had beautiful sun all the time, but the humidity was a killer so being outside of the pool was difficult.

Mixed review
Pros; The hotel is beautiful and immaculate. The staff are professional and prompt. The junior suite was huge and well stocked. The beach was steps away. The buffet hours are generous. There were smoothie bars and an ice cream parlour. The pool foam party was a hoot! No mosquitos. The spa was great. We went for two deep tissue massages that were amazing. The service started with a cool swim, then a hot tub sit, then a dry sauna, then a shower, then a steam room, another shower and then massage a[... read more]nd for a great price!
Cons: check in was inefficient and tiring. The “premium†staff (aka timeshare sales staff) were on us immediately, while we were in line to check in and although not too pushy and friendly, were in our faces several times a day. The beach stunk like rotten fish to the extent that in my one attempt to go to it, I nearly vomited and never went back. No one hung out at the beach which made the pool and swim up bar extremely busy. The buffet was not maintained during meal hours so if you don’t go as soon as it opens you are dealing with low stock and really picked over food. The omelette grill was filthy and the eggs were covered in burnt grease bits. The omelette chef handled the food with gloves instead of utensils so as a vegetarian I was appalled when he grabbed a handful of ham for one omelette and used the same hand to grab cheese for mine. Alcohol is not served 24 hours. The snack bar food was really plain and gross. This place reminded me of a four star in Cuba. For the right price, that might be acceptable, but this is definitely not a five star resort.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay but we are unlikely to return.

Quite Good-Excellent in some areas
Ok - Back from a one week stay here and time for my review.
For some background to provide context: We are a family of 3 have been travelling to All Inclusive resorts for the past 13 years - at least once a year sometimes twice. We have been to Nuevo Vallarta, Manzanillo, The Mayan Riv, and Punta Cana in the DR. Only choosing to stay at 4 star properties and above. We are not fussy and do tend to have the ability to go with the flow.
The check in process was fine and quick no problems. A[... read more]nd they were very good about taking no for an answer regarding attending the presentation for timeshare. There was no hard sell at all.
The room was as we had asked - with the King bed instead of 2 doubles. The room was very clean and spacious. But the lack of total bathroom privacy is weird especially with our teenage son. For a couple on their own I suppose it would not be an issue. We made it work "wait! your mom is in the bath! look away!" what 15 year old boy needs an eyefull of his naked mom or dad for that matter! lol
The AC worked great the dehumidifier was a g-dsend. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning each day.
The Mini bar was restocked daily - But they will not give you any extra beers over and above the 2 cans of Sol a day - a huge deal? No not at all especially when a cold beer is just a short walk to the closest bar - but something we had never encountered before - usually u can leave a note with the tip money for the maid and they will make sure your fridge is stocked as you prefer. After making a call to ask could we have a couple more cans of beer I was told we are only allowed the 2 per day. OK...again not the end of the world - just a little odd to us.
Breakfast buffet was a standard all inclusive breakfast array. Bacon was very scarce, you had to ask for it from the ladies who make the eggs on the cook tops - we found that a bit odd. The coffee is very very weak and watery the worst coffee we have every had at a resort to date...the work around for this is to ask for a latte, espresso or cappuccino. The brewed coffee is not great if you are expecting or prefer a full bodied cup.
Lunch - we only ate the buffet for lunches - and again it was fair to good. Standard all inclusive resort buffer lunch. Bugers, pizza, pasta, salads, fruits. No reason not to be able to make yourself a plate of things you liked. Nothing knocked our socks off at lunch but by no means was it bad.
Dinners:
We enjoyed the outdoor Italian (out front of Blue Moon) the best - but the service was very very slow - the only have two of the cooking carts when they flambe and prepare the meals so there can be a long gap between the starters and main course if all the tables are full. The tenderloin there was excellent.
The a la carte near the activity pool was hit and miss as we all three ordered the ribeye and our son's was excellent but my husband's and mine were tough and hard to cut and chew. So I am guessing that was just bad luck for us as we both tried our son's and it was fantastic - I am sure we could have asked them to do us 2 more steaks - but we didn't do that.
The Japanese was very good. The standard cooking table show and the food was very good.
The Mexican was very good.
The indoor Italian was very good as well.
Route 66 - was OK...nothing special. The fried pickles really greasy and kind of gross. My son called his burger OK and my husband said the ribs were good.
Mike's coffee shop was a lovely spot in terms of a great cup of coffee and a little AC break. I wish t was open earlier and closed later.
The ice cream shop is adorable.
In general the AC is very very minimal in the restaurants - this is the hottest/most humid time of the year. So we (again personal opinion) found them to be a little on the uncomfortable side.
Drinks - We tipped the first bartender who would serve us each morning at the pool bar with a $5....then again a dollar or two through the day. we said please and thanks, were friendly and smiled - were not pushy and waited our turn - even if others who came after were served before us and I will say in our opinion the barmen at the swim up bar were not very friendly, did not smile....and ALWAYS go to pour the local cheap brands even if you ask for a name brand alcohol.....once or twice ok maybe he did not hear me....but ebery time I would have to say "Stoli vodka soda please" and even then would have to say stoli as he would always reach for the cheap stuff first. I would then get the Stoli - but this was a mildly annoying exercise to go though each time. Not at all the end of the world - Just an observation.
The lady who came around before the bar opened offering Bloody Marys, and Mimosas was lovely, chatty and smiley. Shame she does not work behind the bar.
We hung out at the chill pool each day which confusingly is the liveliest pool with an activity/game happening each day at 3, and water aerobics mid morning. And loud DJ music in between, This pool has an upbeat fun atmosphere that some may not want little ones at as the music was not always radio edit versions so at times there were explicit lyrics. Our son is older so that didn't phase us.
There were still plenty of unclaimed lounge chairs when we would arrive at 930AM ish each morning. However if you like to have the same spot each day you can go save your chairs in the morning -this is what we did. I would assume in high season in the winter there would not be any chairs left avail by 930AM....Those who have been in the winter would know better.
The beach:
Well first of all this does not affect my overall thoughts on the resort as it's nature and no one's fault. But it is unpleasant in terms of the smell and it is not swimable. We knew this when we booked so it did not phase us as we are not ocean swimmers anyways. But i did feel bad for those who had no idea this was the case going in.
The shows - we attempted to watch the Lion King - but the indoor theatre was just packed too tight. Felt like we were sitting on top of one another. So we bailed. The outdoor stage was a much nicer experience.
In conclusion - if we got the same deal we would go back and we would give this resort a 3.75 out of 5.
This is of course just one family’s opinion....and others may have enjoyed it more or less than us. Just thought I would add ours here in case it helps anyone making a choice to book or not.
BONUS- we met a lovely family from the UK. Making new friends on a trip is always nice!
SECOND BONUS - a family from Michigan was there for a destination wedding and they were such a nice bunch and watching the wedding from the walkway was very nice!

Relaxing Time
The hotel was clean and the staff were (for the most part) helpful and friendly. We found Jose at the check-in desk great, as well as Ever & Edna in the dining room and Gustavo at the pool bar. The beach is still providing a display of sea weed, but the hotel is doing its best to remove it as best they can.

Amazing resort
Hotel was very clean and staff very friendly. Room was spacious and comfortable. The food was better than I expected. A good variety of restaurants with exceptional menu choices to please everyone. Pool activities were fun to watch even if not being a participant. Loved the foam party in the pool. Three pool choices, one with a swim up bar, one adult only and one that was adult and kid friendly. Beach area had a lot of shade chairs, the only drawback was that the water was murky and full of se[... read more]aweed and the red flag was up everyday. They did maintain the beach by raking frequently but nature had other ideas, and made it impossible to keep up. Vendors did approach you at the beach but did not harass you if told no. Beautiful Resort!
We stayed at this resort 10 years ago and were impressed back then by the cleanliness overall and the quality of the food served in the buffet, a la carte restaurants, coffee shop, etc.
Now on this trip, we were once again very impressed. The resort was fresh, colourfully vibrant, and very clean. The food was amazing! The beach was groomed every day. There were generally plenty of lounge chairs. New huts for shade were being made.

Amazing Resort!
My husband and I recently travelled here, and we loved the resort! I cannot say enough about the fantastic staff! They were all very helpful every time we needed something, and a pleasure to talk with, always smiling. The grounds were gorgeous and obviously well kept. Dining at the restaurants was always a pleasurable experience, and the food amazing! Even the buffet was always great, and lots of choices!! The service was just outstanding...they made you feel very important and special eve[... read more]ry time! I loved how spacious our room was and the balcony too! Maids did a great job cleaning every day, except no towel art?? That was a first for me in Mexico, and we were tipping well. I really liked how the resort was laid out...all along the beach and it wasn't an overly large resort, like a Sandos resort I stayed at previously. It was a nice walk from the room to the lobby and other restaurants, but definitely not too long or far away. The resort also brought in some very talented dancers/performers most nights, which we enjoyed. Swim-up bar was always a good time! The beach has nice sand, but the water was not quite as clear as it is closer to Playa del Carmen. We had a super amazing server named Jessica who brought us drinks out on the beach every day! She gave us excellent service, always with a smile, and we tipped her well for it. All in all, we both loved the resort and would probably stay there again!

Fantastic resort
My husband and I stayed at Ocean Coral and Turquesa for 5 nights in a privilege suite. This is an excellent resort and we greatly enjoyed our stay there. The beach at the resort was beautiful. Our privilege suite was lovely and clean and, most importantly to me, the king size bed was extremely comfortable. There was a jacuzzi tub on our patio too. Another highlight of this resort is the food - the quality of the food is good and there are many options/restaurants to choose from. The only restaur[... read more]ant that i tried that i didn't enjoy was the mexican one oddly enough, which is a shame since i love mexican food and was in mexico. Fortunately you can get good guacomola and tortilla chips at the dining hall. While i enjoyed all the other restaurants there, the highlight for me was the japanese place where the chefs cook in front of you and entertain. Also with the privilege package you get access to a lovely lounge with tasty apps. If you like cats or iguanas this is also the place for you are as they are in abundance at this resort. The wifi at the resort is free and good. There are 3 pools at this resort, one for privilege only guests with a relaxation vibe, one party vibe pool with music and a pool bar, and another pool for family - so this resort seems to have a little something for everyone. For us, we were looking for a romantic, classy place with a relaxing atmosphere and OCT privilege suite fit the bill. Also as a privilege guest you get free access to the hydrotherapy spa at the resort, which has showers, steam room, big sauna, cool water pool with jets and hot tub. Very nice spa facilities except for the change room which is very small, not much privacy and the showers are messed up. You can't open the shower doors very much since they bang into the shower head. I was only able to squeeze into the tiny crack because i am a small build and it was still a tight squeeze. The gym is pretty small and dismal, but it is better than nothing and everything else at this resort is so on point. Loved this place and would go back!!

Bring the little kids!
Just returned from a week there with my grown kids and grandkids! We were so impressed with the cleanliness of the entire resort, and the friendliness of the staff, particularly at the Daisy Club for little ones. Fair resort
This resort is over 10 years old. I booked a Junior suite for my family vacation and got a good deal around black Friday. The room is spacious but the furniture is kind old. The washroom sink was always clogged due to poor design. The washroom has a shower and a bath tube. The water temperature of the shower is not stable. So, we switched to the bath tube but there is no curtain to prevent water from spilling. So, we couldn't avoid making the floor wet and ended up calling room service.
I am[... read more] quite impressed by the good services offered by waiters and waitresses in the restaurants. Make sure you bring enough US$1 bills for tipping as you pretty much need to tip everywhere you receive a service including getting some ice cream. This time of the year, the beach is filled with seaweeds, so the water is not clean enough.
At the lobby, there are staff trying to sell you membership on the second day of your arrival. I would say "avoid it"! Make sure you also avoid the people trying to sell you timeshare at the airport.
Overall, I am still happy with the stay and had a good time there.
