Something for everyone!

Beautiful, big resort with lots to offer! We enjoyed the great nightly entertainment, the option to either enjoy the pool games or sit at the quiet pool. Rooms were very nice and clean, serviced daily. Buffets had good food although cold at times. Good service throughout the hotel. Beach was not as nice as expected. It was a bit crowded and the water was rough with a rocky bottom - not ideal but we still enjoyed our time there. It was fun to see the monkies by the bridge.

It is wonderful resort!

It is wonderful resort out of my imagine. the location, beach, facility, layout are perfect! fully relax and enjoy with my family. will recommendation definitely! The bathroom decorated low quality. should be improvement. The toilet button is so hard to push for flushing.

Not a 4.5 Star Resort

As I reflect on my experience at the Grand Sunset Resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico I cannot recommend this resort to family or friends let alone fellow travellers looking for a 4.5 star resort to vacation at. On a positive note aesthetically the grounds and rooms are very nice; water pressure and hot water for showering is better than most places I have stayed; there are plenty of pools and outdoor bars to choose from; the habitant preserved with spider monkeys, codies, iquana and other wi [... read more]ldlife birds is pleasantly unexpected; the 24 sports bar is convenient and the layout of the resort is easy to navigate for its size but unfortunately and disappointedly this is where it ends. If this resort wants to continue acquiring vacationers worldwide with expectations based on the resort’s rating I would suggest the following improvements: 1) speed up check in. It took longer than expected considering the number of staff. 2) advise staff to not continuously harass patrons to attend timeshare presentations, take photos for a charge and to book spa options. We are on vacation for a reason. 3) improve the quality of the linens 4) do not lock the air conditioning max in the room so that humidity cannot be reduced. It is unhealthy to sleep in a room where it gets to a point where all your belongings absorb moisture and nothing feels dry. 5) the beach was overcrowded with too many loungers, the ocean was dirty and had a foul odour because of the seaweed and the shoreline rocky making it impossible to enter the water without shoes. The codies although adoreable run around uncontrolled stealing food and running in and out of garbage cans. Simple solutions to solve these issues. 6) the themed buffet lacked flavour and variety nor did it cater to vegetarians except for a very small area nor did the beach or pool grills. The meat and other options were left out too long without being replaced with fresh items to prevent bacteria. Please consider everyone’s dietary options seriously and salmonella is never acceptable 7) don’t charge extra $$ at an all inclusive resort. The al a carte restaurants were not “all inclusive”. There were items on the menu that were extra $$. The ambience, quality of the food and service was more like a 2.5 - 3.0 star rating. 8) staff at the sports bar did not call security nor take responsibility for outbreaks resulting from patrons who exceeded their alcohol limit and became abrasive and intolerable. 9) alcohol and beer served was very poor quality although better options were visible. Once again an upcharge. 10) quality control in all areas where food and beverage is being prepared and served needs to be greatly improved. Having your entire food and beverage staff wear hair nets is not enough. Several patrons including myself as well as my boyfriend were affected with bacteria contacted through food or drinks resulting in days spent ill instead of enjoying a long awaited vacation away from home. Bacteria could be smelt at the pool and sports bars. I mentioned it to a staff member but was ignored. I became quite ill 5 days into my 10 day stay experiencing food poisoning symptoms. I am still not feeling 100 percent. Bacteria and food poisoning is a serious health concern. The resort should be taking action immediately to facilitate a plan to correct outbreaks. In conclusion despite having suffered from bacteria and the disappointment of a 3.5 star resort disguising themselves as a 4.5 star we tried our best to enjoy ourselves and met some amazing people along the way. Fantastic resort with something for everyone!

I am an avid traveler(3 times a year) and I must honestly say that Grand Sunset Princess was by far the best resort I’ve stayed at in the last 5 years. The pros: great drinks concocted perfectly,wether it was a bloody ceaser,mojito,pina colada or any of the featured cocktails everything tasted perfectly balanced and delicious! The Miso resto with a hibachi grill and trained flare chef was a great show to experience and the food was lovely, Mexican was very tasty as well and so was The Fondue. The only letdown was Mama Mia the Italian resto, it lacked flavour and was not good at all( although the service was impeccable) . The nightly entertainment was always on point and had a lot of different shows that most other resorts don’t even try to attempt. Besides the typical Grease show that is prominent in every vacation destination they had a variety of different shows to offer that I’ve never experienced in all my years of staying at resorts. The Horror Show was a real treat and had me enjoying every minute of it. The only show that I found was not up to par was The Aladdin show but it still gets an E for effort. The 24hr snack bar was a lifesaver on many nights and so were the BBQ stations by the pools every single day. Beautiful and spacious rooms. And all the employees were super friendly and enjoyable to talk to. Cons: For some people the resort may seem like a huge city that takes time to navigate and you can easily get lost( I timed myself walking from the beach to the lobby and it took a solid 40 minutes) for people with limited mobility it can be a real problem. Honestly that’s it for cons for me everything else was highly enjoyable I’ll definitely come back if ever go to Riviera Maya again.

Beautiful Resort!

First impression when I got to the Princess is this resorts architecture is absolutely beautiful! We were welcomed with drinks and a big smile. Staff is very nice, some more than others. A go to person who helped us a LOT during this trip is Miguel. Bartenders are very fun, one in particular is Abdiel. This guy will give you exactly what you need and will give you the best customer service someone can get. One thing I would say was a bit disappointing was the wifi. Pool temperature is great, activities are good, the food too, my friend and I loved the breakfast! I would have so many more good things to say about this resort. It was definitely a great 1st experience in Mexico!

Its ok

The resort is huge. It takes about 10 minutes to go to the ocean from our room. Lots of pools. Buffet Food is pretty good. We went with 2 children. Child friendly. We had some problems in our room but as soon as we mentioned it there was someone there to fix it. All in all a pretty good resort. Beach had ALOT of seaweed and had a funky smell the whole time we were there, probably due to all the seaweed rottening in the sun. That was pretty disappointing but that nature out of our control.

Gréât resort

The hotel was beautiful . It was breathtaking to see how clean and proper everything was . The decor the gardening the pool section , the restaurants and the entertainment was just amazing . Loved every moment spent at the Grand sunset princess .

Grand Sunset Princess, resort was a little to big for myself much too big.

Grounds were impeccable and extremely clean. Room was always clean and in acceptable condition. Shower was extremely slippery, should have non-slip strips to prevent accidents/slips from happening (which happened to 2 guests during my stay. Pools were always very clean and looked after. Service at the bars and restaurant were very good. A little issue that I did not understand the Fondue/Seafood restaurant are one and the same, so I did not like the soup offered up on the Seafood menu and a [... read more]sked for the French Onion from the Fondue restaurant and they would not do it, completely didn't understand that one. Specialty restaurants were not what I had expected or what I am used, not a good selection of items.

Great

It was wonderful and the taste and quality of the foods were perfect. The rooms were clean but a little humidity. Performances in main theater were professional and amazing. Kid clubs were good and totally we enjoyed and satisfied by sunwing.

Great resort

The food was great and staying at the Platinum club made the experience more enjoyable this time round. Everything was more convenient ie transportation, close to the beach, private pool.It was great.

Awesome first time experience!

For what I did know about resorts, this one was awesome. All the way from the bedroom, to beaches and excursions. Clean, fun, and lots to do. Awesome little casino, and sports bar also. Must see coco bongo club.

Good resort

Just got back, stayed in the sunset side April 13-20 2018, had deluxe junior suite. We flew Sunwing and they had us packed in like a can of sardines, not comfortable at all. They managed to give you a drink thats all, they don't even give you a pack of crackers during a 6 a half hour flight. You have to pay for all snacks, all a $$ grab. You best use the washroom before they start serving because once they start you cannot get through the aisle and its a slow process. They also only give y [... read more]ou 4 hrs before your trip to check in, so you know your gonna pay for your seat to make sure you get a seat together with your partner weeks before your departures, another $$ grab. Check in was a little aggravating, our flight was hour early so we had to wait 3 hours for a room. They couldn't tell us when it would be ready so had to keep checking back. Other than that our stay was fabulous, no complaints with the resort. Resort is clean and well lite up at night. Bands in the lobby ever night was great. Lots and lots of food choices and many food stations in the buffets each day and night, the grill by the pool bar was full of burgers and hotdogs so that was great quick stop, they bbq around 700 burgers and 400 hotdogs a day. Pool service was fabulous, thanks to Mariana Gomez for the awesome friendly service whom brought us so many different cocktails. Never had any trouble getting loungers around the swim out pool section. Always went down around 7:45 and found a umbrella for shade. Lots of seaweed on the beach, nothing you can do with that. Tractors did try and keep in under control. Lots of wildlife around the resort. Friendly cats hung out around the statues, lots of coati, iguanas, doves and other birds. We always try a different resort, in saying that I would return to this resort again.

Amazing Resort

Beautiful grounds very friendly staff.service was excellent. Food was very good something for everyone. Entertainment was very good. Staff very knowledgeable. Pool was excellent.Excursions that we’re booked were amazing.Resort bedrooms were kept very clean.rooms very spacious. Would recommend this Resort to anyone.

Relaxing vacation

Resort was wonderful. I upgraded to the platinum rooms and they were spacious and comfortable. Platinum service was excellent and the private pool relaxing. The beach did have a lot of seaweed. Whatever, still better than Lake Ontario. Anyone complaining is spoiled and unappreciative of nature. The platinum area of the beach was well serviced and lots of shade. Stop b [... read more]eing picky and appreciate the lovely surroundings and hard work of the people who get up everyday to work to ensure we have a nice vacation. Tip! Don’t be jerks. These people get paid pennies compared to us, if you can afford to go to an all inclusive you can part with a few extra dollars to appreciate their efforts. I would go back again. I got the vacation I wanted and loved every second.

Grand sunset princess

This resort was good value for the money but the beach was very bad they wouldn't remove all the weeds, just machine them back into the beach. They also need to build new bar and restaurant and washroom at the beach. Very bad and smelly place, needs to changed ASAP.

Beautiful Large Resort

Great resort. Great staff. Very large and a bit overwhelming at first. Beach has tons of seaweed and sharp stones and slope to get in, but then mostly sandbars. Food was geeat but Buffet at dinner can be too busy. Hard to get ‘a la carte’ reservations. Rooms very spacious and nice. Large balconys. Very quiet rooms and resort at night. Shuttle runs regularly. One bad incident when my bed pillowcases had been made up with dirty pillowcases that stunk of urine. I called the desk and within an [... read more] hour all bedding including pillows was replaced.

Very Good Resort

The buildings and grounds were very clean and well maintained. We found the staff to be very friendly and courteous at all times. The food in all restaurants was very good. The Entertainment throughout the week was excellent.

Great Resort!

Beautiful resort. Although large, never seemed crowded, plenty of area's to hang out and never a problem finding chairs at beach or pool. Very clean with great food, drinks, entertainment and service. Had a fantastic week and would definitely recommend this resort to others!

Nice clean resort

The trip was real good , trip central lined everything up nicely. A little mix up on the plane seating. The resort was big but clean and beautiful the people were friendly and all the restaurants with exception of the Italian was very good . One big problem was the time share salsman lots of them and they will tell you almost anything to get you to their sales meeting. Wonderful Resort

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are spacious and the entire resort gleams. The staff are happy and helpful. The pools abound, the drinks are delicious and a good size and the food was fresh. We loved the gym and the clssses it offered. The only downside was the beach. I will definitely frequent a Grand Sunset Princess in the future.
