Wonderful place to relax, even better people!

I was told I would love the Riu - but only when I went there, did I realize just how much. You will want for nothing. The scenery is spectacular, the people work so hard to make your stay pleasant, and if there is anything amiss, they will fix it as soon as they can. The only thing that I would advise is that when I went (end of May/early June), there were families with kids which I could have done without. But other than that, I'm already planning my next Jamaica trip, and will have no problem  [... read more]staying at another Riu resort! xo no problems....

They need washrooms near main buffet Not that great of a beach, should have umbrellas or palappas for shade if needed Resort was very clean Service was excellent Entertainment was good but a little to loud sometimes

Great family resort

The hotel was extremely clean and well kept. Staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. We had exceptional service from Mario at the evening buffet as well as Nicholas, one of the porters. The food at the buffets was excellent and we really enjoyed the Steak house. The pools were laid out very nicely and also very clean. The beach was well kept but very short. My only complaint really is that children under 4 cannot be left unattended at the kids club. I've been at other resorts with excell [... read more]ent kids club services and this one was disappointing because of the age limitation and lack of staff. Having said that the one lady that did work there was fabulous (Charlitto).

Beautiful Resort

The Riu Montego Bay is a very lovely resort with wonderful staff and great amenities. Everything you would want in a resort is right here. The service was very good and the food was fantastic. The entertainment staff are top notch!

Will go again!!!

I was extremely impressed with EVERYTHING. Staff friendly, clean, food was excellent and a variety. We had an amazing time!!!!! My wife and I felt we got our moneys worth. We have not a single complaint!!!!!!

Good resort

Resort was beautiful, pools could be cleaner as could beach lots of seaweed. Food was absolutely amazing. Staff were great. Rooms were kept very clean beds could be more comfortable overal it was a great place to relax

Good Hotel, very friendly staff

Staff was great! The hotel needs a revamp (especially the rooms) the food was terrific! The beach was probably one of the worst I have ever been to: the ocean floor is full of slime and yo can't even see a foot deep. There is a huge crane that makes all kind of noises right in front of the resort

Great service!

The beach and water are the worst I've ever seen on my travels. There is only one (very noisy) pool. The rooms are dated, but comfortable and clean. The food is good and the staff is absolutely wonderful.

A Complete Package - No Unpleasant Surprises

Our stay at Riu Montego Bay was blessed with perfect 29-30 degree weather everyday, no rain, courteous and friendly staff, good food and entertainment and no unpleasant surprises. If there was ever one recommendation I'd suggest, that I'm sure many visitors would agree with, it would be to extend the WI-FI to the rooms as a courtesy to guests. We were advised that rooms were being prepared since check out time for guests leaving was 11 am. No problem, lo and behold, we were invited to get changed into proper beach attire, leave our luggage in a secure location near the lobby and enjoy the facilities while we wait for our room to be prepared. That was an invitation we couldn't refuse. Later, check in went flawlessly and we even managed to upgrade to an oceanfront suite at a little extra cost. The room was clean, the a/c worked properly and blower noise was normal, there was no lingering odour, the tiled floors were cool but not wet with condensation as we had experienced at other resorts. The TV worked well although its use was going to be very minimal. The clincher was eventually going to be the bathroom so very cautiously we tested everything - the double sinks and faucets worked flawlessly, no clogs, good mix of hot/cold water. Same thing with the tub - no clogs, good mix of hot/cold water. The toilet worked superb with one flush, so there was no need to miss home once again. If there was any flaw in the bathroom it was very minor - the light above the tub didn't work (probably a blown bulb), but who really cared. The fridge was stocked well with Red Stripe, coke, tonic water and water, but had no ginger ale which is usually what we mixed our drinks with. NBD, because we also enjoyed the Red Stripe with a light touch of Appleton, which was part of the in room dispensary. Overall, I would rate the room an A - , really good but not perfect. We found the staff very friendly and we happened to attach ourselves to Rebecca for breakfast who was there every morning to meet us. The breakfast choices were good, with egg, bacon, sausages, cereals, fruits, etc the norm, with a Jamaican flavour of local specialty dishes kicked in. For lunch everyday, we ate mostly from the beachside jerk hut which always had a lineup of people waiting. It was well worth waiting for though. We found dinner to be good, not great, and not quite up to par to a more flavourful Jamaican take out in Toronto. There was good entertainment at the beach and around the pool each day and there was never a dull moment. At night, there was always a local vibe with either a documentary, a local band, stage dancing, music and comedy. I would rate the entertainment a B+. Although premium liquor wasn't on tap, we never found it to be a problem as we were drinking Appleton and ginger ale most of the time, with a pina colada or rum punch mixed in occasionally. In a nutshell, we found this resort clean, well maintained, has friendly staff, good food and entertainment and would not hesitate making a return trip in the future.

Great trip

The beach was beautiful and the staff were friendly! The food was amazing. The desserts were not the best. The room was clean. Lots if mosquitos and sand flies. The shows are very entertaining and very enjoyable!!

Amazing vacation!!

Riu Monteg Bay is so beautiful...the people and entertainment crew was amazing, very friendly and upbeat. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The grounds are kept clean and daily maintenance was done. By far the cleanest resort that I have ever been to in the Caribbeans. The beach is also nice, small and short so it made it feel like your own private island/beach. And the food...is the best part...amazing! Amazing! Amazing!! Exceptional Staff, Food, Fun

Everything about Riu was amazing 5yrs ago and is still amazing today. All staff from the Maintenance Team to the Cleaning Ladies, Entertainment Staff, Food Seevers, Chefs sincerely and genuinely want to know you are having a great time! The rooms are extremely clean and when we arrived we needed are room changed because we had a King bed and I was traveling with my son so we needed two beds and the staff quickly reassigned us to another room. I highly recommend Riu!

Beautiful resort

very relaxing and comfortable and the ocean front rooms are absolutely amazing, the food was great especially the Steak house was very good and the 2 pools was even better, the staff was very friendly and helpfull

Amazing time

Had a great time at this resort. Food was delicious, staff was friendly and the beach was beautiful. The beach party could have been better though. It would be nice if there was more entertainment on the beach rather than just the main stage. Would have loved more reggae music! Can't get enough of it!

Great vacation

Went to the Riu Montego Bay June 17 -24. It was great. The resort was clean, food was good, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The only downfall was there weren't any umbrellas on the beach for shade, and you need shade its extremely hot.

Extraordinary Resort!

The most relaxing, enjoyable week of vacation I have ever taken. The service was excellent, personable accommodating staff, grounds stunning & clean, pools & beach superb, room was lovely, food excellent.

Stunning holiday.

The food was excellent and the service was inexorably good. The beach small and intimate; we were fortunate in that the beach was not too filled with music. Also, the snack bar on the beach did a refined BBQ chicken.

Great resort, good food, great friendly staff

The resort was a good, clean resort. The food was plentiful and all the staff very friendly. Beach little weedy but still great. Good variety of beverages too! Not far from the airport, you can hear the planes, but not an issue. Go if you can!

Great Resort!!!!

This resort was great for families!! Located near the Montego Bay airport, so a short bus ride from the airport is great for families with small children! Food at the buffet and Steak house great!! Italian restaurant could use a bit of work, didn't get a chance to eat at the Asian restaurant. Entertainment during the day was ok, nighttime shows a bit too late for children, otherwise all in all a great experience!!!
