Saint John's Vedado: What I expected

I have stayed at this hotel before and I like it for it's location. it is ideally situated for the Malecon and the Hotel National. The breakfast buffet needs improvement but the staff are friendly and helpful. You won't get a 5 star hotel for the price I paid. My only complaint is I prefer the original St. John's over the Vedado where of course you are sent. I do have issues with the Veradaro airport but will write the Cuban ministry of tourism on that.

Las Terrazas Aparthotel: I love this place but not for everyone

I have stayed at this hotel many times because It is near Havana where I am from, it is by the ocean, the price is great and it is not packed with tourists. on this trip there is only 3 bad things to mention: 1-The complex have 2 pools but we could not use the big one because the music is always blasting. we couldn't have a conversation because of how laud the music was. same to a less extend happened in the smaller pool. Everybody says that's because of Cuban tourists but that's not entirely  [... read more]true, the employees love laud music. most of the times there was no one at the small pool and the music was laud. 2-We could only get coffee in the morning. The coffee machines at the pools were both broken. 3-No internet. if you need internet access, get an internet card ($1 for 1 hour) at the lobby of the Hotel Atlantico. You only have connection at the lobby, not even a few steps from it you get connection. On the good side: the rooms were nice and clean. AC was in working order and there was plenty of water always. The maids came by everyday to clean the apartment, made the beds and bring fresh towels (smaller than what we are used to, so I recommend to bring your own) most of the things at breakfast time were not to our liking but we were happy with the omelette station (always ham and cheese to add to the omelette) toast and coffee. there was some fruits, a light yogourt and some fruit juices. if you only have breakfast included in your package I highly recommend, in the Atlantico Hotel, "El Caribeño" restaurant for dinner and the BBQ for lunch, they are both CUC $15 with a set menu and all you can drink. The guest at Atlantico have preference so if it is booked they will not take you in.There is also the buffet for the same price all you can eat but does not includes drinks. there is a pizzeria (until 6pm) in the middle of the complex toward the big pool, and there is restaurant Don Pepe (24 hrs) across from the pizzeria. USD have a set exchange rate the same no matter where. to exchange money other than USD go to Guanabo and do the exchange at the CADECA. at the CADECA's corner turn right, there are 3 nice places to eat, if you go into Rico-Rico and decide to order fried rice remember it is enough for 2 people, unless you have an appetite like mine; and fried rice in Cuba have more meat in it that what we are used to in Canada. A taxi to Guanabo should be some where around $5 or $6. You can also take the buss 45A I believe but because of the way traffic works in that area you have to ask the driver if the buss is going to Guanabo, it may go into a different direction. The bus cost 0.40 CUP which is around 0.02 CUC. The hopon-hopoff into Havana is $10 CUC.

Hotel Deauville: Great Location

Hotel is definitely not a 5 star. Very plain. But....if you care more about location...this fits the bill. Walking distance to old Havana, the Prada great restaurants etc.Room was clean, price was right. Want a better hotel? Easy .. open your wallet..

Villa Bacuranao: Nice resort

Pool was beautiful. Not many choices for food. Should never be a breakfast only as there were no restaurants within walking distance. No entertainment, just loud music. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There were two locals just outside resort that were hassling people as they went in and out of the resort. Made us feel uncomfortable and annoyed to have these people bother us. We were not the only ones they bothered, it was anyone going by them at a so called store and restaurant.

Hotel Atlantico: Many years of well stablish quality and reliability

Built on the beach. regular transportation to Habana every 40 minutes with 5 CUC return included. Food satisfactory for this 2,5 star hotel. Staff well trained for years and very tolerant of foreigners. Improvement slowly throughout the years. Good package deals compared to other nearby hotels.

Hotel Atlantico: Beautiful Weather

Excellent location. Friendly staff. Sufficient food. Clean beaches. Transportation available 24/7. Arrived and staff attentive to my need. Answered my questions. Pointed out things that I needed to know. Helpful.

Villa Bacuranao: No TV all week!!

Imagine spending a week at a hotel with no Television? Your advertisement claimed cable TV. I went to reception stating there was no remote control to turn on the TV, and they said the hotel was full, therefore they did not have enough remote controls. Then told me to manually turn the TV on, I did, but none of the channels worked. After three days I had had enough, very frustrating.

Hotel Deauville: Convenient Base for Exploring Havana

Pros: -within walking distance of major attractions in Old Havana (10 min to Fine Arts Museum, 12 min to Gran Teatro, 20 min to Cathedral) and Vedado (25 min to Napoleon Museum) -impressive view of Malecon waterfront -good buffet breakfast: omelettes made to order, counter of sliced fresh tropical fruits, breads, cheeses, etc. -good room cleaning service Cons: -furnishings are old -one of the two elevators was out of service during my visit

Hotel Atlantico: Great trip!!

We had a very very good time everyone was very nice and always helpful and welcoming. There was always lots of activities going on around the resort. I would recommend this place to many of my friends looking to get away and lay on the beach for a week.

Saint John's Vedado: Fantastic

Fantastic It was a pleasure staying at the Saint John .... The rooms are excellent and clean the staff is really professional and looked after me and every way imaginable.. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again felt comfortable safe and secure The area has plenty to offer Can’t wait to go back ..

Hotel Atlantico: Going Downhill Quickly

Have been there many times. Some furniture has been painted but Air conditioner in my first room did not work and made loud noses trying too. Door to balcony hard to open, The food has never been good but now is much worst. We both got diarrhea and only ate there and we do not drink alcohol.

Hotel Atlantico: avrage

Its a average hotel ,no nice tropical drinks,Some of the staff wernt to smily ,but hey ,they had a tornado .Ans some of them were affected.Beach is awesome.We had lots of jelly fish and sea weed.But they kept it all clean with the tractors.We spent lots of time in Havana.Awsome .Music ,dance and lots of laughes.

Blau Arenal Habana Beach: Pros and cons

There are more cons than pros Pros: - close to Havana -free shuttle into Havana -excellent bar staff and housekeeping staff -small resort Cons: - Beach very dirty, LOTS of broken glass throughout the sand. -boardwalk desperately needs work -unsafe, many broken and rotten boards, nails sticking out, handrail very unstable -around pool needs work, fell through plastic grate, scratching ankle badly. -entertainment staff cater to very small speci [... read more]fic groups of people and ignore everyone else -food always the same, all they need to do is vary it up a bit to make it better -no help when you check in late at night. Blau Arenal Habana Beach: Bravo Club Hotel Arenal, great for the proximity to Havana but ...

I was only there for three nights. I found it was clean and in terms of service it was ok. It wasn't really all inclusive though. They would give us a free bottle of water the first night only. The rest of the stay, we had to buy them. Also, some of the alcools at the bar were not free either. We had to pay for them. There wasn't much of a choice for food. We would have breakfast only and it would be omelettes. The croissant's were very dry, the pancakes were stocked at the bottom of their re [... read more]cipient in the buffet. We enjoyed the pasta two times during our stay. Once for lunch and once for dinner. The shuttle to go to Havana is great but the times are not so great. You arrive at 11:30 and the pick-up is at 4:30. It would be nice if there was more than one shuttle a day to Havana. Hope this helps :)

Hotel Atlantico: Nice beach, staff and diggs

I liked the hotel and thought it offered good value. Since the Atlantico is only 25 minutes from Havana, l made the most of it (free bus too). There was plenty to eat, although the fair was pretty basic (a common complaint in Cuba). The beach is pretty and long, great for walks. The entertainment was kind of average and a bit too loud. If you're looking for a 5 star resort with all the amenities, keep looking. But, if you are looking for good value for your money then Atlantico might be for you, [... read more] it was for me.

Saint John's Vedado: Hotel closed Sunwing downgraded me !!!!

Even the airport transfer driver knew nothing of this change and therefore drove me to St Johns Hotel ..I had to walk along road to another hotel in the dark, with my luggage. The Vedado hotel was awful that was why I had NOT BOOKED that one after reading the reviews. I was not told anything about this by Sunwing or Trip Central or given the option of another hotel or to cancel the package. Will Trip Central accept some responsibility an offer compensation to me for the downgrade ?.

Saint John's Vedado: Excellent Value For Money

The breakfast was simply excellent. The staff were all polite. The cleaning staff were exceptional. Remember, you are in Cuba. I could do without the entertainment (racket). The electricity was off for a day. Not much the hotel could do about that.

Hotel Caribbean: Our home away from home for the last 10 years

This hotel has basic accommodation and very welcoming and friendly staff. It often can be booked at a great price and that's what we appreciate about it. On the other hand, hot water can be very iffy -- we often have to run the tap for a good 5 or 10 minutes before warm water arrives. Also there were often problems with the elevator. This time there was no elevator at all; it apparently it was being replaced, but no one knew when. The other thing is the breakfast buffet, which could use  [... read more]some serious improvement. We normally just stick to the simple omelet they make us. It would be lovely though if the buffet dishes could have clear covers so that the flies don't land on the food. Then it could be improved with a choice of fresh fruit and breads (protected from the flies), and maybe some boiled eggs. Finally, the sign states that the bar is open 24 hours, but we often found it closed by 9:30 or 10 p.m. with no reasonable explanation. Nevertheless it offers a great bargain and an awesome location right on the Prado, and for this reason we continue to think of it fondly!

Hotel Atlantico: pleasant and economical hotel

by the end of a couple of days i had warmed up to the place and so had the wife and 30 yr old daughter. My rating was as follows: accommodation 2.5/5, food 4/5 that's because i love good wholesome nutritious pork and chicken and vegetables, the fish was average, entertainment on an evening 2.5/5, the beach 5/5, you are right on the beach so i went snorkelling and walking while the wife read, there was also good entertainment on the beach like salsa dancing lessons, darts competitions etc. The [... read more] location is perfect for commuting to Havana. You can catch the free bus from Atlantico at 10am then return at 5pm or catch a public bus every 40 mins from near the hotel for just 5 CUC's return. The bus was excellent with AC and the ride to Havana just 30mins. This i particularly enjoyed. I went to Havana 4 or 5 times.

Hotel Atlantico: Terrible!

The hotel was dirty and we could not see the bottom of the pool. After one day we asked to change hotel. Staff we not friendly either. Beach was great and food was not bad but I still would not recommend this hotel
